Music/Songs tab, how do I sort it by Album title?

How do I sort the music under the Songs tab by Album title instead of by Track title?
I've been trying everything under the iPod's Music and Settings menu for 2 days with no luck whatsoever.
I would like to play all the content of my iPod in shuffle mode and be able to turn off shuffle anytime to listen to other songs of the same album of the track I'm currently listening to.
The only way I've found that I can achieve this is, from iTunes (where the music is nicely sorted by artist and album title), create a new playlist and drag & drop all the content of my iPod's music library to it.
The problem with this is that iTunes takes a considerable amount of time to do it (I have a 64gb iPod Touch completely filled with music and a slow 4 year old Celeron pc...). I have to go thru all this everytime I want to replace an album from my iPod's music library.
There has to be an easier way to do it from the iPod's Music menu.

I've already tried that and it's not what I'm looking for. When I tap on the album icon of the currently playing track and select other songs of that album, I cannot go back to shuffle mode on the entire music collection, just the tracks on that album. I have to start over again by going to the songs tab and selecting shuffle all. I'm fine with that but the problem is that I have to pull the iPod off my pocket every 5 or 10 minutes. I don't feel comfortable doing that around here and it's dangerous to try to do that while I'm driving.

With IOS 7, the coverflow screen sorts strictly by album title. How do I get sorting by artist then by title, the way it was in IOS 6 and earlier?

There seems to be no way in IOS 7 to see a list of the album titles for an artist. The "coverflow" screen sorts just by album title, without regard for Artist, where in IOS 6 and before it sorted by artist (primary key) and then album title (secondary key).
Also, in IOS 6 and before, under the Artist search, selecting an Artist gave you a list of the album titles for that artist, then you could select the album you were interested in (or wanted to shuffle play). But in IOS 7, the Artist search gives you a list of ALLsongs for that Artist. There is no overview list of just album titles, and no way to shuffle just one album from that screen. Both IOS 6 and 7 allow one to shuffle all songs for the Artist.
How do I get back the Artist/Abums sorting or grouping, either ijn Coverflow or in the Artist search?

The large text size makes your post almost impossible to read.
Excessive use of bold or capitals (also) makes posts difficult to read.
You can drag most of the column headings left or right, or right-click on the header to turn columns on or off.
Once you've used File > Display Duplicates or Shift > File > Display Exact Duplicates you can use File > Display All or the Display All button at the bottom of the list to restore the display.

Who kows, how I can sort my photos by title on my iPad. In my mac in iPhoto I can do so, and there are several options to sort. When I chose "sort by title on iPhoto, they are displayed in the wright way, but only on the mac not after sync. on my iPad. What the F*** is going on here. This sh*t is since the first time of
iPad and there is no solution or update since then from apple. (I think so?!). Please help me to fix this ******* problem.

Deleted Files ! next to song. How can I sort ! to delete all those files?

My work computer i-tunes had 4000 songs. My work deleted about 3/4 of those songs from the company hard drive. Now most all of my songs have a ! next to it. It will take hours (that I don't have) to delete each song indiviudally or even to crtl a group and delete. Is there a sorting system that groups all the songs with a ! next to it to delete the group? Please help!

MacMuse's User Tip should provide the solution to your problem.
Below, I've taken the liberty of making a couple of minor changes in the wording that hopefully make it just a bit easier to follow:
- Select the Music entry in your iTunes Source List (the left-hand column).
- Select/highlight all the entries. Edit menu > Select All will do the trick.
- Now go to the File menu > Get Info.
- Confirm that you want to edit information for multiple items.
- Assuming that you're not using it for actual song information, enter 99 in the BPM field. Press OK.
- Wait for iTunes to retag the song files. Depending on the size of your Music Library, this may take a while.
- Once that's finished, click on the BPM column heading in the main iTunes Library display to sort your songs based on the BPM entry. If the BPM column isn't showing, go to the View menu > View Options, check BPM and press OK.
- Since iTunes wasn't able to find the files for the "dead" tracks, it couldn't retag them and they will be listed separately from the "live" (99 BPM) tracks.
- You can now click on the first of the dead tracks and Shift-click on the last of them, then right-click > Delete.
That should be it.
As MacMuse suggests, you might now want to go back and take the 99 out of the BPM field in case you ever have to do this again.

Yes, but the recipient may not be getting the full image file that was used to make the Shared Photo Stream. You would have to run a test to see if there's any reduction in the image and file size. The following is from iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ

My iPod touch (5th gen) doesn't list some albums in the artist's section. But still lists the individual songs in the music list. How can I better organize this?

I recently bought an iPod touch 5th generation, I had a few CD albums here that I wanted to put into my new iPod, just like my old one. But with my old one I put them all in and it organized them all as the same artist (which they are), so under artists I just had to click on their name, then pick the album. In the 5th gen one, it puts the songs in my iPod, but I can't find the actual album under "Artists". I put 2 albums by this artist, but it only shows one, and the other is nowhere to be found, but it's still in my iPod, just as individual songs in the songs section. I don't think this'll be the only time I'm running into this problem on the 5th gen, I had trouble organizing some other songs. How can I better organize these albums, show them all under the same artist? I tried to re-write the artist name to be exactly the same, but that doesn't do anything.

I would either say that the iOS is correpted due to a software glitch or y have have a hardware problem like bad memory locations that are corrupting the iOS.
- Restore from backup via iTunes. This will install a fresh copy of the iOS. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.   This will elimate corruptin in the backup causing the problem.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Sorting Same Year Albums

Hello, I have looked for a solution, and so far nothing. Hope someone can help me here!
Here's my situation. I have separate Smart Playlists for my Artists, and I sort by year within them for the artist's chronological library of songs. Here's the issue: I have an instance or two where the artist released two albums in the same year (in this case - KISS released self-titled album "KISS" and "Hotter Than ****" both in 1974).
And again in this instance, it places these albums in Alphabetical view based on album title. This causes Hotter Than **** to be placed first, which isn't correct.
Is there a way to either refine for more precise release date, or a totally different way of going by this?

I've had this problem too.
I solved it by entering a new value in the Album sorting field.
Select all songs > get info > Sorting
Note: The album title will still show as "Kiss".

How do I sort songs by artist by album using iTunes 10.5.0.142

In earlier iTunes versions there used to be a drop down at the top left corner of the music window that I could use to sort the songs. What happened to that drop down in 10.5.0.142?
Can I make this drop down come back?
If noy, how will I sort my songs so that all the songs are listed by artists having the albums together: For example Artist 1 has Album 1, Album 2 and Album 3 together, and then Artist 2 has Album 1, Album 2 and Album 3 together after Artist 1, and Artist 3 has Album 1, Album 2 and Album 3 together coming after Artist 2?

I can agree and see your point. Just wish there was a better way other than "lying" about the album artist info. I'm sure its doable but don't expect it would ever happen. Software is too "mature" now.
And actually, I'd rather see what your suggesting - it would be a great clue to "fix" the art to the same inamge!

How do I sort music in iTunes when played from iPhone?

Okay, so I've been using my iPhone to basically carry music around and play it on different computers, right? Just turn on manual sync and then I can play music on iTunes straight from my music library without needing to have it in my computer's iTunes library. The problem is that all the music is out of order, and the column headers at the top that should be clickable to choose how you want the music to be sorted are all greyed out and unclickable. What I want is for my music to be sorted by Album Title followed by Track Number. Used to be that it was sorted by Artist then Track Number, which usually ended up okay as long as the album only had one artist. But recently, iTunes just completely arbitrarily changed itself to sorting by Song Title, which is screwing everything up. Since the sorting order can obviously be changed, how do I get iTunes to sort the music from my iPhone in a sensible fashion?

Put your library in Songs view. Make sure you have columns visible for Kind and BIt Rate. If those columns are not visible, add them by going to View > View Options.
You can sort either on Kind or on Bit Rate (but not both at the same time) by clicking on the column heading.

Import the music on the external HD into iTunes. If you don't want iTunes to make a new copy of each track that is stored in your iTunes Media folder on your PC's internal HD, make sure the Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library option is NOT ticked from under the Advanced tab of iTunes Preferences. Just remember that if you go this route, you'll always need to have your external HD plugged in before you start up iTunes.

Until this week, I could go into the iTunes store, select an artist, and click on "Name" to sort that artist's songs alphabetically. With the new software upgrade, clicking on "Name" does nothing. How do we now sort an artist's songs alphabetically in the iTunes store?

lulz, I feel like I'm just picking the ones that have this question and like, pasting my reply Hope this helps!
Here is a step by step picture tutorial :
Step 1-Up thar in the top right corner, type in what artist you want (1). Or you can click "Music" at the top black bar, and then when scroll down to whatever genre you want (2).

Step 2-If you did the genre version, on the right sidebar area, there should be a "Top songs", click that, and there, you can sort however you want. It works like normal. Idk why.
If you searched artist, however, you can't just click "songs" or "see all" at the songs slidey area (really, anything you see at the top right side bar, don't click it, it won't let you sort because it's a search result list. IDK why Apple did this, but it did )
You have to click the artist's name, under the top part of the right sidebar, where it says "Artists and More" (SEE BELOW)
Once you click that, the artist page pops up:
There, click "see all" for songs:
And then you can sort.

Yes you can just blank them all out. Select a bunch of tracks, get info. and place a tick against the empty sort name box on the sorting tab to erase all the current data in those fields. Oops, forgot it doesn't quite work like that, however I wrote a script called ClearSortName which will do the trick for you.

IT simply say "if" the More button is available.. then you can have options... well, there is NO More button available?!

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!) I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.
