Music starts halfway through a song

Just wondered am I doing something wrong.... When I'm listening to my music some tracks start halfway through the song and not at the beginning. Any help would be appreciated

Have you tried updating it and doing a restore with the latest iPod updater (2006-03-23)? You can go here and install the latest updater on your PC and then hook the iPod up and run the updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
Doing a restore will wipe everything off the iPod, but once connected to iTUnes, it will load everything back up. More on restoring can be found here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983

  • My Ipod Nano keeps turning itself off halfway through a song, anyone know why this happens?

I have had my Nano since November and have downloaded cds and music of downloads.  When I play the ipod halfway through a song the ipod turns itself off. Do you think this is a fault with the Ipod or am I doing something wrong when downloading the music?

    Hey jokoboco,
At this point get your ipod service with apple. Have your Serial number ready. Sounds like your iPod has a hardware issue, a kind of defect. Use any of these options:

    or

  • Ipod stopping halfway through a song and restarting

my 1st gen. ipod stops halfway through a song and restarts. but it doesn't do this with all songs, just some. i updated the songs from my ipod onto it again, then manually ejected it, but nothing is working..
    HELP!!

Try reseting it by holding both Menu and Center buttons down untill the Apple Logo pops up(you my have to do this a couple times for it to work). Or you can restore its factory settings and put the songs back on the iPod. But if that doesen't work try calling this number Apple Disability Solutions (800) 767-2775 and see if you can get yourself further help.

  • Shuffle starts playing halfway through a song

My Shuffle begins every other song or so at a point part way through the song. This just started happening recently. I reset and reformatted the Shuffle, but the same thing keeps happening. It's quite annyoying.
Apologies if this issue has been solved elsewhere; I have searched for a solution, but I can't seem to find one.
    Help!

It seems to me that you might have your iTunes music library set to skip when shuffling. Check to see if any of your music files are set to skip when shuffling. To do this, begin with your first track by right clicking the track and click on the tab "Options". There you will be able to see if any of your tracks are set to skip when shuffling, remember playback position or part of a gapless album. If a track or tracks are set to skip when shuffling, you can just click the option off. You can also check to see the option tab by going to the menu bar, file, get info. I hope this will help you out.

  • IPod gets read/write error halfway through transfering songs

Ok, I posted the other day about a read write error on my iPod. I got it replaced. New one didn't work on my home computer but I did get it up and running on my laptop at work. When I got home I plugged the iPod into my home computer. Everthing was fine (I have it on manually update). When I tried to put music files on my iPod (drag and drop) I did one and it worked fine. Then I highlighted a group and dragged it over. They were transfering. Then halfway through I got the read write error.
Can anyone explain why this would happen? Why did it work for a little bit and then refuse to keep transfering songs? Do I have to do them one at a time when I manually update? I basically had to restore the iPod when I got to work this morning. Things are fine now. It would be a pain (but still bearable) if I can't use my iPod at home.

Can anyone explain why this would happen? Why did it work for a little bit and then refuse to keep transfering songs?
The problem could be one of mnay mentioned in the link below. A complete Reformat of the IPOD using Windows would be a great start and then "restore" the IPODs software. The drive on the IPOD seems to get corrupted at some point and this is the best way I have found to get rid of the problem.

  • My ipod classic 160gb will be playing fine then it sometimes freezes up or start shuffling through the songs not playing at all. After i reset it works ok for a while then same thing. Bought this so i could control through my steering wheel/radio.

I sure hope someone can help me with these ipod classic 160gb issues.
My ipod classic 160gb will be playing fine and then freeze up (unable to move around in it at all) and i have to reset it. This happens constantly whether in my car or when i listen at work. After i reset it works ok for a while then eventually requires another reset.
Another problem is that it will be playing fine and then start shuffling through songs without playing them. The songs that get shuffled work fine in the itunes program but not on the device. A reset does not correct the problem with these particular songs.
Also, sometimes when it is working and not freezing up or shuffling through, it will appear that a song is playing (in fact it says "now playing"), the song titlte is scrolling, but the song progression bar does not move. The count up in front of the bar stays at 0:00, and the count down at the end of the bar stays at the song length minutes not counting down. After I reset, it works fine and all the songs will play.
The reason I got this thing was because i can control it through my steering wheel/radio while i'm driving. I previously had a Zune 80gb which i'm glad I held on to. I have over 6600 songs (so I'm obviously a serious music listener and obviously frustrated), but only about 10 songs were downloaded through itunes, the rest I either ripped or downloaded from other site. From what i've been reading it sounds like there's a lot of ipod owners out there experiencing similar problems. Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve these issues for me and everyone else? I got my first iphone 8 months ago, then the ipod and was considering an ipad. But in light of my ipod issues.....
I hope someone can help me and convince me it wasn't a mistake to go Apple! Thanks!!

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

  • My iPod wants to play music half way through one song and then start the next one, or pick up in the next song were the first song was at.  How do I fix this?

I've had it for the past few days that when I have a album playing it will play a song half way through and start the next one, however it still shows the first song name and the time that is on there.  I don't know weather it's just a glich in the iPod itself or if there is something wrong with it all together.   I've never had this problem up until a few days ago, and I really don't know what to do about it.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Song starts halfway through?

If i listen to half a song then skip to the next, when i return to the skipped tune it starts from where i left off. This happens to every song i've skipped on my ipod. This is really annoying if i put shuffle on and none of the songs starts at the begining. I think this only started recently (I may be wrong). Can I stop this 'cos it's really bugging me.

Is it just one song or many? I have many songs that I pulled off of my iPod and put into iTunes, and about half of the ones I pulled ended up like that. It is very annoying.

  • Ipod always starts halfway through the next song.

Any time I advance to a new song on my ipod it picks up somewhere in the middle of the song. What am I doing wrong?
Is this normal because if it is it's driving me nuts.

This problem occurs when you transfer tags and not the actual song file to the iPod. Make sure that iTunes is pointing to the folder where the music is kept. Go to Edit>Preferences>Advance to check & select the proper location. If you click on a song and see "!" next to the song then the song has been deleted or moved from it's original location and iTunes can't find it. Keep the songs in one location with iTunes pointing to that folder.

  • Start to import, but it slows then stops halfway through one song

That's pretty much it. I put a (non-burned) CD in my disc drive, hit 'Import' and it starts to import it into iTunes, but then it slows and then stops importing. Then, when I try to stop it from importing, iTunes freezes and I have to force it to quit.

I have been having this same problem for about 2 weeks. When it happens, I have to actually re-boot my computer to get it to rip files again. After that it will rip approximately 3 or so CDs before freezing up again. I have been searching the forums for any news on this and it seems a lot of people are having the problem, but no real good iTunes solution. I am not running Vista, and would prefer not to rip files in some other program to use them in iTunes.

  • HT201272 i downloaded an album but on several of the songs it goes silent halfway through the song

I recently downloaded an album from the itunes store. it shows on my computer that it is downloaded however, when i try to play it it starts and then goes silent. This is on several of the songs. How do I correct that?

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over the last few days, I assume that there has been a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting those tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if the re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that album and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • TS1362 I have downloads that I purchased that don't play or play only halfway through a song in both Itunes and on my ipod how do I fix this?

When I purchased a bunch of audio files and downloaded them over half will not play or only play half way through. Is there a way to redownload an already purchased item so that it corrects issues like this?

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.
