Music stops in shuffle mode on IPhone 4

Iphone 4 with latest IOS. For some reason when i play music in shuffle mode, it will play 1 to 5 tracks fine and then play the 2 seconds of the next track and just stop. Have tried hard reset, have deleted music and then reset and then reloaded music. Anyone?

update....Doesn't just do it on shuffle mode, also does it when playing normally.

  • Music stuck in "Shuffle" mode

All of a sudden, all music plays in "shuffle" mode only. I can's see any setting to turn off "shuffle" mode, save for doing a reset from Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings, which I really I would not want to do.
Any other way to fix this?

play a song. from there, tap the screen once. you should see the progress bar show near the top. to the right of that should be the shuffle icon. tap it to toggle on/off. if it is blue, shuffle is on. white(or gray), off.

  • In shuffle mode, some songs never get played, why?

I have most of my music in 1 playlist (about 2500 songs) which I listen to all the time, always in shuffle mode. I became aware that my ipod was never playing some songs, yet others were recurring quite frequently. When I checked the playcount, it showed the highest count at 46, yet it also showed that many tracks that had been in the playlist just as long, have never been played. Why is this? Is my ipod secretly asserting it's own taste in music? Does shuffle mode favour songs with a higher playcount? Is there a way to stop this happening? Has anybody else experienced this? Suggestions gratefully received.

I've heard this excuse before, that what we think is random really isn't, but when certain trends occur enough times, its pretty clear that there is some kind of algorithm or something in the coding that affects the shuffle.
I know random means random, but there are too many "random" coincidences and apparent patterns that occur to raise doubt that it truly is as random as Apple claims.
One such example, is that when using the Shuffle Songs feature (that shuffles all tracks on the iPod) I had 2-3 tracks from the same album (an album I had never even listened to yet) showing up within the first 40 tracks five times in a row. Numerous other songs showed up in at least 3 of the 5 "trials." Out of 8,000 songs.
On a playlist (of 300 or less songs is all I have tried), if you have multiple songs off the same album, you are far more likely to hear at least one other song off a given album within about 10 songs then you are to not hear a song off the same album. A specific example of this is on a playlist of 105 songs I have, there are 3 songs off one album, however nearly every time 2 of the songs will play within a 10 track range, and nearly as often all 3 songs will play within the same 20 track range.
I know random isn't perfectly spaced songs, but when certain things happen often enough, the odds of it become so low that even the "true random" explanation doesn't cover it.

  • How do i put my songs from my shuffle to my iphone?

The question is how can i get all my music from my shuffle and my iphone, On my iphone only so i can start a new play list on my shuffle?

This topic is covered several times a day. First of all, from now on, Back up your music because relying solely on your iPod and computer is not wise. You invest money in your music, so protect it.
Best way would be backing up your library with Data DVD's and CD's or an external hard drive. Back up often.
Ok, lecture over. Try third party programs that will let you rip your iPod onto your iTunes. Try CopyPod or YamiPod, both are free.
Or, you can do it this way: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
This paragraph I am quoting from Zevoneer, because I am tired of repeating myself and he explains it so succintly
If your iPod is set to update automatically you just need to take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting:

  • Can't get iPhone to stop playing albums in shuffle mode

I open my albums on iPhone and start playing them but they are always in shuffle mode. The only option at the top is the shuffle mode. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thx

While a song is playing, go to the Now Playing screen. Next, tap the album cover.  Now tap the criss cross arrows to enable or disable Shuffle. If the arrows are blue in color, Shuffle is enabled.  You can tap the arrows again to disable it.
Another place for accessing the Shuffle option is at the top of any playlist.
There's also  “Shake to Shuffle”. This setting will shuffle your music if you shake the device while a song is playing. You can access this setting by going to Settings > Music and changing Shake to Shuffle to On or Off.

  • Why does my music player on my iPhone 4 always revert back to the same song when in shuffle mode even tho I have played multiple songs since that first song was played.very frustrated

Why does my music player on my iPhone 4 always revert back to the same song when in shuffle mode even tho I have played multiple songs since that first song was played.very frustrated

SHuffle does not play songs in a truly random fashion.  Like all computer related random generators the sequence is pseudo-random

  • I am using iOS 8.1 on the iPhone 6 and my music will not shuffle.  It will play one or two songs then go to the home screen and stop playing music.

I updated my iPhone 6 to the latest iOS 8.1 and now my music will not shuffle.  It will play one or two songs but then shut off and return to the home screen.
Anyone else having the same issue?

Then back it up and do a restore.  If that does not work and if you are still under warranty, call Apple tech support or take the iPod to your local Apple Store or an AASP.

  • I have an iPod of rock and pop tracks which i generally use on shuffle mode. Now I have a second iPod to store classical music. If I plug it in to my pc will it duplicate my rock and pop or will it register as a different device?

I have an iPod Classic with rock and pop tracks on which I generally play in shuffle mode. I have now bought a second iPod Classic to store and play classical music as I don't want to shuffle rock with classical. What will happen when I attach the new iPod to my pc? Will it register as a new device with an iTunes file of its own, or will it duplicate what I already have on the original iPod?

You can attach the second iPod and configure it to sync whatever content you like without affecting the first iPod.  I would take a look at this article for different ways to manage multiple iPods on one computer.

  • Playing (in shuffle mode) unchecked albums when checked are synced to Iphon

I have my IPhone synced to my Itunes Library but have way to many song than can fit on the Iphone in my library. So i manage them by checking and unchecking them whenever i want to change whats on my IPhone. However, When I am Listening to my Itunes Library in Album Shuffle Mode, It doesn't play the unchecked song/albums...Can i configure my itunes to play unchecked music?? or Can have a saved checked list to appy when i plug in the Iphone. Is there really any way not to have to check and uncheck hundreds of songs in order to listen to them but not overload the Iphone?

I suggest creating an iTunes playlist or multiple playlists to be transferred to your iPhone.
Place the songs in the playlist or playlists in iTunes. With a playlist selected in the iTunes source list, the number of songs and the storage space the songs take up is indicated at the bottom of the iTunes window.
Under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences, choose selected playlists. Select the playlist or playlists in the window below followed by a sync.
If you want to add additional music to your iPhone, add the music to the playlist or playlists selected to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync. To remove music from your iPhone, remove/delete the music from the playlist or playlists selected to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync.

  • IPhone keeps going to shuffle mode.

My iPhone doesn't seem to play back to where it left off, esp when I unplugged it from the cable charger.
It goes to SHUFFLE mode & I've to manually tune to where I left off. I'm listening to audio books & it's causing frustration.
    Advice needed.

i've noticed the same thing, and i believe it is intentionally done this way. i am very disappointed with the entire 'playlist' functionality of the iPhone. however, i have never had an iPod, so i don't know if it did the same thing or not.
i like listening to all of my music straight through, starting with artists whose names start with A going through the artists that start in Z, as if its on my iPhone, i love the music, and i want to listen to it.
you will have to manually select the first song you want to listen to, and the iPhone will continue from there.

  • Icloud on apple tv and iphone only allows shuffle mode

I am only able to play music on iPhone and Apple tv in shuffle mode.  Is there a way to revert to standard play?

In handbrake, select toggle presets, and it should show a list of pre defined and compatible presets.
selecting iPhone / iPod Touch should ensure that they play on both devices (inc the apple tv)
Also, ensure that the file extension is .m4v and not mp4

  • Using RMBP in clamshell mode w/ Remote App music stops

    Hi,
I've got my MacBook Pro connected to the internal DAC in my Peachtree Audio nova125 integrated stereo amplifier via USB. This allows me play music in iTunes on my MacBook Pro via my stereo speakers.
    Excellent, but there's a problem...
I keep the MacBook Pro closed (I.e. It's running in clamshell mode) and use the Apple Remote app from my iPad to access my iTunes library and play music on the MacBook Pro.
This works great for about 20 seconds and then the music stops.
If I stay in the Remote App on the iPad I observe the screen refresh when the music stops, like the Remote App is re-connecting to iTunes. If I close the Remote app or switch to a different iPad app the same thing happens... The music keeps going for about 20 seconds and then stops.
After the music stops, when the Remote app screen refreshes if I left the the Remote app open, or when I re-open the Remote app if I closed it or switched to a different iPad app... The screens comes back with the same view of my iTunes library it had before, with the same song selected and paused at the same spot it stopped at.
If I then press play the music starts again and the cycle repeats.
    Why?
    This is clearly a flaw.
I want the music to keep playing until I go back into the Remote App (or open the MacBook Pro and go to iTunes directly) and stop it.
Any insights as to why this is happening and how to make it work properly would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.

As you can see no one has provided any info here, but I'll post what I've learned in the hopes it may help you.
Short answer: According to a local Apple Store genius, Apple does not support running a RMBP w Mavericks in clamshell mode unless the RMBP is connected to an external display.
    Other info:
-I tried selecting the "Prevent App Nap" checkbox in iTunes.app>Get Info, but this doesn't make it work.
-I also Googled some info that stated there's a 3rd party app available you could install that might/should make it work, but it sounded like an inelegant solution so I didn't try it and don't have any more info on that.
-Now I either plug the RMBP into my TV via HDMI if I want to run it in clamshell, or if I don't mind leaving the RMBP open I just turn on the iTunes visualizer in full screen mode.
    I hope this helps.

  • Why is an Audible book playing in Shuffle mode with music?

I bought an audio book on CD. I imported it to iTunes with the expectation that it would be in an audio book folder. It's not, all the segments are in my library and when I listen to my iPod in Shuffle mode it plays sections of the book with the music. How do I get these sections not to be part of the shuffle?
    Dave

"Genre" means nothing, really. It's just user settable data.
iTunes considers any files with the extension of M4B or AA to be "Audiobooks" and acts accordingly.
If you bought a book on CD, then you have a few options to make it work the way you're expecting.
    1. Import the CD as per normal, and make sure you import it into the AAC format. You can do this by selecting AAC in the Importing preferences. Once you've done that, rename all the resulting M4A files it creates to M4B files, and then remove and readd the files to the iTunes Library. When it sees the M4B extension, it will treat it as an audiobook.
    2. What you probably really want to do is to probably combine all those CD's into one big audiobook file. This is the way downloadable audiobooks work, and you get several advantages. One big file, smaller filesize, it remembers your place in the book, etc. How you do this varies, but here's how I do it:
    - First, I rip all the CD's as one big WAV file each. I do this with a program called ExactAudioCopy, or EAC. Naturally, this takes tons of disc space (estimate 800 meg per disc).
    - Second, I combine all those WAV files into one huge WAV file. This takes lots of space as well, and must also be done on an NTFS formatted hard drive. I use a progam called "WAVCat" to do this, but there's lots of programs that can do it.
    - Third, I set iTunes Importing options to encode into AAC at a low bitrate, like 48 or 64kbps. Then I put the huge WAV file in iTunes and use the Convert to AAC option. This process takes many, many hours to finish.
    - Finally, I rename the resulting file to have an M4B extension and add it to iTunes. I also delete all the temporary WAV files I created, getting all my hard drive space back.
Bit of an involved process, but the results are worth it, IMO. One audiobook file, at a low bitrate, and both iTunes and the iPod remember my playback location in it. Also it gets treated as a proper audiobook, showing up as an audiobook on the iPod and everything else.
