Music stops when earphone jack wiggled

If you bump or wiggle the earphone plug the music stops and you have to press start again - over and over.
Anybody else have this problem?

Sounds like the headphone jack on your Nano is failing.

Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Music stops when displays sleeps or when i lock the screen on my 7th gen nano

  • Music stops when 6G nano gets asleep

The problem is that when the ipod is put to sleep, it stops the music, which then requires to wake it and put the music back to play. It occurs both when it instantly falls asleep (after +/- 30 sec without touching the screen) and when it is manually put to sleep, making it practically impossible to listen to anything for more than 30 sec non stop. Thanks for helping.

Your nano is pausing playback when the screen goes dark (Either when it goes dark on its own or when you click the sleep/wake button). The reason for this is that it is not detecting your headset. You may be able to hear music, but the headset jack is not inserted enough for the nano to detect that it is there (or something is blocking the connection). Here are your three options:
Insert the headset jack harder. Most folks find that this solves their problem. If you can see ANY of the silver of the plug when it is inserted, it is NOT fully inserted. You should feel and hear a click" when it is fully inserted.
Clean out the crud in the headset port. If you have tried #1 and it just won't insert all the way, it is likely that you have crud in your headset jack. Shine a light in there. The entire inside of the jack is white, so if it looks dark down at the bottom, there is probably crud down there. You can try blowing it out or using canned air. Just understand that shoving anything else in there to clean it out will be taking your warranty into your own hands! However, I have cleaned mine out using whatever was handy and small enough to fit in there and so far so good. Your results may vary!
Take it to the Apple store. If you have really tried with 1 and 2 and it is still happening, then there might just be something up with your headset port or your headset jack. If it is the headset jack, you can look closely at that and be pretty sure if that is the problem. Try another headset to make sure. If you have worked all the way through to this point and it is still happening, it is time to take it to the Apple store.

  • Music stops when screen goes to sleep but my headphones are inserted correctly?

I have an Ipod nano 6th Gen, and when the screen goes to sleep the music stops.  I have set up my sleep/wake button to play/pause so when the screen goes black and the music has stopped, I press the sleep/wake button twice and the music starts again without the screen coming back on.  I have read other comments and I have made sure that my headphones are all the way there does not appear to be anything obstructing the headphones either.  Is anyone able to help me?  Thank you

Solved by using a 3rd party music player that can access the library on the iPad and no longer using Apple's iPod app.

For all the information about this, you need to read this FAQ. It tells you what to do (easy - just remove the check from Release ASIO Driver in Background), but also what the implications are.

  • Is it possible for my phone and my Nano to share the same bluetooth device?  If so, does the music stop when receiving a phonecall?

This might be a totally dumb Q, but I am so tech challenged it is pitiful.  Is it possible for my phone and my Nano to share the same bluetooth device?  If so, does the music stop on the Nano when receiving a phonecall?

No, the BT protocol does not allow for an A2DP device to be simultaneously connected to two iOS devices.

  • How do you prevent music stopping when receive a c...

    Any ideas?
I have a Nokia N95 8GB and have loaded it up with loads of mp3s and was thinking of using it at a party shortly instead of shunting loads of CDs around to play music on... however, I've noticed that when I receive a call the music stops, which won't go down well with the party folk, even though they'll more than likely be too drunk to care
Any help on this would be great.
    Thanks

Best option is to activate offline profile.
I've used my N91 8GB in parties as well, using the line out cable to hook up to my own stereo systems or my friend's and it's very cool.
What's even cooler is to get one of the bluetooth remotes so you can control playback remotly. One cheap way is to use Wiimote and the application (can't remember from the top of my head) to connect a wiimote to the phone and use the wiimote as a remote.

  • Music stops when launching apps

Brand new iPod Touch 64GB iOS 4.1. When playing music and then launching an application (most of the time, Google mobile app), the music shuts off. Doesn't happen every time.
    Memory? ???

If you are playing music using the native iPod app then it will continue to play when other app is used. However, I do not know if the other app also play music what would happen. If your music is coming from an app like Pandora it will stop when another app is used. This is because the presently multitasking is limited to a few Ipod) native apps. The Nov 2010 iOS 4.2 update will add multitasking for third-part apps like Pandora.

  • Music stops when PC goes to sleep

    Any help would be appreciated
I play my ipod through itunes for windows and since the 5.0 update whenever my PC (or laptop) goes to sleep the music stops playing.
I have to press play on itunes to get things started again then it happens again when it goes to sleep
This never happened until I updated my ipod touch so any help would be appreciated
    Thanks in advance

I normally fix this by pausing it, turning it off manually and then turning ti back on. That seems to reset it.

  • Music stops while earphones are plugged in

    Hello,
I have an ipod touch 8gb. While the music is playing, the sounds stops but the song is still playing. I have to unplug the earphones and plug it back in. When I first listen to a song, 2 seconds in, I have to unplug and re-plug. This happens all the time.
BTW i didn't upgrade to the latest version.
Anyone else have this problem? How do I get it to play normally?
    Thanks.

It sounds like dirt in the headphone jack. I would use a vacuum cleaner to "suck" out any dirt that might be in there. You might also want to look carefully and see if anything in lodged in there.

  • Music stops when Store opened

Upon initially opening the iTunes store any music that is playing from my library always stops playing. I noticed this only on the most recent update of iTunes.

Did you check the headphone jack for any signs of damage of debris.  What if you use another set of earphones?
Otherwise, the headphone jack is damaged and in need of replacement. You'll need to have the iPod serviced or replaced.
