Music Stops whenever I put the laptop lid down!

Hi,
My Laptop is a Pavilion G6-2313AX (AMD A10-4600M with 7660G+7670M Dual Graphics) with genuine Windows 8. I use this laptop a lot in the school bus, while going in cars etc to listen to music. Problem is whenever I put my laptop screen down (It is set NOT to go to sleep mode), the track pauses on Windows Media Player, iTunes, any program. Someone please help me on what I should do to prevent this from happening!

Your laptop will stop playing when you shut the lid.
I was not able to keep music playing when i shut the lid.
The only time that I was able to shut the lid and keep the music playing was when I switched it to projector mode but I had to have it connect to another monitor, other than that it stopped.
There are a lot of people online that have the same question and I was not able to find an answer.

I understand that the music pauses when the notebook is closed. When the notebook is closed, this is usually to move it from one place to another. This may be triggering HP ProtectSmart which physically stops the HDD from spinning causing everything to pause until the HDD is stable. Newser systems are more sensitive to protect the HDD and the data on it.
This sounds like it's more in relation to ProtectSmart more so than a power plan. Review this thread as it looks similar to your issue. Disabling HP ProtectSmart is what fixed it for them.

Use a small thin piece of plastic (metal tools are likely to scratch the case) and work along the seams of the tray. In all likelihood your tool is unlocking it but the tray itself is a bit gummed up, jammed. Be patient, don't force things, and you'll probably get it open in short order.

I figured it out! I don't fully understand why, but when I uninstall ESPOINAGE 2 from my laptop, sleep works fine now.. Weird!

The grip between the screen and the laptop lid?

The grip that seperates the screen from the laptop lid is what I'm talking about... but basically I just noticed (not from my doing) that on a tiny section of the screen, you can see the grip not attached properly like the rest of the laptop is. Would this even be something to bring up to the Apple store?

Firefox locks up when I reopen the laptop lid.

X out of mail, Comcast, and then try to X out of Fox and computer hangs up. This has started within the last couple weeks. During that time, I downloaded an Adobe update only.

Hi Sense no one has answered your message, I'll give it my best shot. Depending on what option you chose when you close the lid, will make a difference. If you have it set to shut down, then you will have to press the power button to turn your PC back on.

How do I make a still image (photo) fit the length of the music? I record music and want to convert the tracks to a video file with a still image of my business logo in the background. On windows movie maker you could just select "fit to music" but this program isnt as easy to figure out! Any help?

Double-click on the still image in the project timeline to open the Inspector. In the Inspector, adjust the duration by typing in a new duration to match the length of your music. I think the limit for a still image is 10 minutes. If you need more than this, simply drag the image into the timeline again then adjust its duration. The two images will play seamlessly (no gap will be visible).

You can achieve more precision when entering durations by changing a preference in the menu item iMovie Preferences. Check (tick) the preference for Show Time As HH:MM:SS:frames. This will enable you to enter the duration of stills down to the frame level, rather than full seconds (NTSC is 30 frames per second; PAL is 25 fps). When entering times, type a colon between each time segment, such as 2:50:15, which represents 2 minutes 50 seconds and 15 frames. For 5 seconds 20 frames you would enter 5:20 and so forth.
Note that the music will only run to the length of the video in the timeline (in your case, the still images). So, after increasing the stills duration you will need to drag the end of the music track as far as required. The stills can be dragged inwards to reduce the duration if necessary.

My mac makes a popping sound when I close the laptop lid

I have a question I am going into a apple certified repair store and getting my mac repaired cause of the popping noise it makes. it is reproducible so thats not a issue with having to prove that i'm not making it up. will they replace the laptop or will they repair it and if they do determine to replace it then do they give you a replacement right away or do you have to have it repaired so many times ?. I have had the laptop for a year and 2 months and I do have apple care on it so thats not an issue. has anyone else dealt with this issue and what did apple do in the end ?

Open your mac pro and listen carfully. It could be coming from a failing hard drive or a bad fan. If you have more than one drive you could remove the ones you are not currently using and add them back one by one to try to localize or eliminate the sound. Caution though, only remove drives when your machine is off. You cannot hot swap the drive bays.

When I plug my nano into my laptop, the laptop shuts down

Since I added the Nike sport kit my laptop shuts down when my nano is plugged in. It attempts to restart but can't. Then, I have to unplug my nano without ejecting it. Any ideas?

Have you tried a hard reset of the device yet? Does the dock list the 6G Nano as compatible with it?

[SOLVED] Run xscreensaver when I close the laptop lid

I have xscreensaver running in my archlinux, and with a systemd service, I can start it after waking up my laptop.
The problem is that I like to keep my laptop running when I close the lid (for example, to go to bed while I'm downloading a file, I like to simply close my lid), but I want to lock my computer.
In the /etc/systemd/logind.conf, there is a nice option called HandleLidSwitch, which specifies which action is invoked when the lid is closed, and there is a lock option, but It doesn't work for me.
The option suspend works fine.
Here is my /etc/systemd/logind.conf:

I would say that you should just have logind ignore the LidSwitch altogether. So if it is set to ignore the lid switch, then it obviously isn't going to be entering the suspend.target (or is it the sleep.target, I can't remember). Therefore, you are going to have to have some other way of triggering actions in response to these events.
The lid switch sends an event to udev, so you have the option of having a udev rule that responds to this, or using acpid to start this for you. I would recommend using acpid, as it is much more flexible in what it can allow you to do.
Edit: acpid is not necessarily more flexible than a udev rule, as it relies on the udev events. But it is a much easier method of setup since it simply relies of basic scripting in order to make it work. It can allow for one central script (or collection of scripts) to handle all the different events that udev sends. To see what kinds of things trigger a udev event, you can use udevadm monitor or if you install acpid, there is the acpi_listen option.
Edit2: BTW, what is it you mean by not working? Does it still suspend on lid close, or is your xscreensaver not started? You need to be more explicit there. If it is still suspending, have you rebooted or restarted logind after making those changes to logind.conf? You can't just edit the file and have the changes implemented right away, as the configuration is parsed and the settign implemented on the service start.

Schedule shutdown stops working after putting the computer to sleep

I had trouble scheduling the computer to shut down after upgrading from Mac OS 10.3.9 to Mac OS 10.4.6. I accidentally left my screen closed on my PowerBook G4 after scheduling it to startup. It startup with the scceen closed and in sleep mode. After that it wouldn't shutdown after scheduling to shutdown.
So I read a Post to trash Library/preference/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Autowake.plist. That worked but now it won't shutdown after being put to sleep even when it is woken.

Yes, just put your computer to sleep whenever you judge it right.
The three nightly maintenance tasks are not important enough to change your habits,
they do not affect OS X performance: only disk space.
And yes, since 10.4.2 they are automatically delayed if your computer was sleeping, but you still have to run them manually
— all three together once a month is fine —
if you sometimes shut down or reboot your computer.
Use this Terminal command
sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
or one of the "cache-cleaners" utilities like Cocktail etc.

Dark flickering desktop and anything on the laptop lid.

The lid on my 2007 MacBook Pro is loose and it doesn't stay bright. It moves slightly on its own and flickers gray when it does and the only way I can fix it is to manually adjust the lid until it brightens up again. Very frustrating! Any help out there?

This is usually a sign that:
1. Someone did not follow instructions putting it back together.
2. You have overworked the hinge by not paying attention to the built-in resistance when you push it back.
3. You bumped or dropped the machine in such a way the hinge got loose.
4. The graphics chip or cabling may be damaged from a surge or a bad power supply/brick.
Regardless, this requires an on sight diagnosis, unless you want to attach an external display to see if it is reproducible on the external display.
Know your video ports:

My music stops half way through the song on my iPhone 6 and now my MacBook Pro during home sharing?

After the download of my music to my new iPhone 6 when playing back it is stopping halfway through the song and going to next in shuffle, now I noticed it is doing the same thing w/ some songs through my MacBook Pro while home sharing on my my home stereo?
