Music store only plays 5 secs of a tune.

Anyone having a problem where the music store will only let you preview 5 seconds of the track????
I had 30 secs then for some reason it only plays 5sec, i have upgraded to the newest version and its still the same..

Try deleting your iTunes preference files (com.apple.itunesxxx.plist, in your user's Library -> Preference folder) and see if that helps.

I think I might have found an answer - importing a folder and or Limewire!
Either Limewire mess's with the files, folder or your system or iTunes attempts to stop illegally downloaded files being played. iTunes might also do it if importing a lot of files in one go.
I imported a music folder that isn't mine from our home network drive that has a few tracks in it downloaded through Limewire. I re checked some of the files in Ableton Live and they are actually damaged! So I tried importing one of the Limewire tunes again individually after finding some info online (links to the pages at bottom) and the track plays no prob now. I also un-checked the "look for shared folders" in iTunes preferences.
For about 2 years now I haven't been able to import more than 3 files at a time which is why I imported a whole folder (about 50 tracks) just after the software update and C.D importing.
My concern is that importing a whole folder even without any Limewire downloads in it might well be treated this way by iTunes. Most of the tracks in our network drive folder that have been downloaded through Limewire are legit direct connect transfers from producer to producer or legit submitted tracks!

Quick time only plays 3 secs of my video

i downloaded a video and quickime only plays 3 sec of it

I too have video non-play problems ALL the time with video downloads. Sound is fine. The video starts and stops, but the sound continues on fine.
I'm wondering if it's a codec thing as I can download these non working .avi files to my Treo 650 palm phone and they play without problem.

A track that I bought from the store only play partially as if it didn't completely download. This was some time a go and there is no record in my iTunes account of its purchase. Any thoughts to a solution?

You may want to consider deleting and redownloading the affected songs from the iTunes Store.

TS3297 Purchased album & some songs only play 30 secs

I purchased an album and ceratin songs only plays 15-30 seconds through before the track skips onto the next one (even though the song is over 2 minutes long). I've checked the songs "info" and made sure that the stop and start time was not selected, which they are not. Has anyone else had this issue?
This is the first time I have encountered this issue, but it definately got me reconsidering purchasing music from iTunes again if this issue can't be resolved.

Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

Ipod shuffle syncs all music but only plays-back MPEG audio

My iPod shuffle syncs all the music I specify but will not play-back AAC files!! It will only play-back MPEG audio files. Is anyone else having the same issue? Have restored it numerous times and tried fewer files / more files but no joy. The voiceover just says "please sync with iTunes"

Are these songs that you purchased from the iTunes Store or imported from outside of iTunes? If there are iTunes purchases, delete them from your main iTunes library and redownload them again at no cost via iCloud.

Music videos only play at full screen

Is there a way to turn off full screen only play for music videos and MPEG-4s? I'd like them to play in iTunes without full screen.

ITunes Store only plays about 10 seconds of a preview before stopping

I try to preview songs before buying them and it's supposed to play 1:30 of the song but it will only play 4-15 seconds of it then it'll stop. I can drag it to later in the song, but it will still only play for a few seconds. This just started about a week or two ago and we haven't done anything to our computer recently. It doesn't even happen for every song, just most of them. The songs in my library all work fine and they play perfectly after I buy them, but not in the preview. I've been all over different sites looking for an answer, but no one else seems to have the same problem. How do I fix this???

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
ipconfig /flushdns
Hit "ENTER" key
Totally shut down computer.
Restart your computer.
Now try your preview music again.

Converted songs to ringtones now songs only play 40 sec.

I converted songs that I had purchased through itunes into ringtones on my sons iphone. Now when he goes to play his music on his iphone those same songs will only play 40 seconds (same as the ringtone). I went back to itunes and in the music they show the full length but will only play 40 seconds, the same as the ringtone. How do I get the full length of the song back in itunes and in music on the iphone?

Right mouse clcic the music in iTune library, select "Get Info", then OPTION tab, uncheck start and stop time, then OK.

Purchased music videos only play audio

I have about a dozen of video clips I bought on iTunes.
None of them now play in video mode. Only the audio. I rechecked the authorization. Everything is fine.
I can play other video clips not purchased on itunes. And I can also play the movies I bought on itunes, and others as well.
I thought this could be a problem with my hard drive being replaced two weeks ago, and reinstalling everything through system dvd that came with computer + Time Machine back up, but I also downloaded the most recent "free video of the week" and it only plays in audio mode as well.

I’m new to DVD files so please bear with me.
I have a DVD disk of some VHS home movies. The footage was converted and put on DVD by a service that does that as a business. The service included a menu and a viewer to watch on a computer if desired. It plays on fine but need to edit it.
The DVD files are as follows:

PrePro shows only the following files as Supported Media:
VTS_01_0.VOB VTS_02_0.VOB
VIDEO_TS.VOB VTS_01 and 02 will import but not the TS.VOB file. Error says, “The file has an unsupported compression type.
The VTS_02_0.VOB imports and plays fine but not VTS_01_0.1. It only plays 8 seconds and the file is 0.99GB in size.
The properties of all these files show Type of file: NeroShow Time.Files7. So I’m to assume that the service that made the DVD used Nero to burn the DVD.
Is there a work around to this or am I doing something wrong?

Some of my tracks in my iTunes library (eg: audiobooks, lengthy classical music pieces) only play for either 6 or 8 minutes then halt. Why?

So if there is a track that would last longer than 6 or 8 minutes, the track simply stops playing.
My library has been built over 6 or 7 years, contains no illegal music, 85% bought from iTunes, rest is ripped CDs. I have transferred my library at least three times from laptop to laptop as I have upgraded machines, and used different account names and passwords as I have moved around in my job. As an aside, every time I transfer the library it screws up, always the audiobooks and always the classical music and how I have it all catalogued.
I am asuming it's a iTunes library problem, not a problem with my iPod classic?

Actually I think that its a problem with either the gapless data or the song volume settings that has been brought by itunes 7. When adding new files to the library, iTunes takes a while to determine volume/gapless information. I have replaced files and itunes didn't check the volume and info again, that is why every song stops playing at the last 40 seconds only on the iPod.
I re-added one of the bad files and it played perfectly, but I don't want to lose the data on the other 60 odd files, so is there a way of forcing iTunes to recheck these files? (otherwise i'd have to re-rate and play the songs to the level they are right now)

Purchased music videos only play music

figured i would ask here before sitting on the phone for an hour to get an answer.
when i play 2 of my music videos they just show up as black, the music still plays but the visuals are gone. I've tried them in other video players as well, the only difference is, sometimes it shows up as grey instead of black, the music still plays though
The weird thing is my other videos play fine on my computer. even weirder, the 2 videos that don't work, play fine on my ipod.
Anybody know what's wrong and how to fix it?
