Music store wont connect

All of a sudden these past 4 days my Itunes Music store does not load. The erroe comes up that it cannot connect. Whats wrong? I use Mozilla Firefox and i odnt use internet explorer becuase it was so messed up that it doesnt even work anymore?
could it be a problem with Internet Explorer?
Thanks,
Matias

Likely, yes. iTunes relies on settings controlled in IE. You many need to use IE's "reset" command to repair it's settings.

  • Itunes store wont connect to the internet?

Itunes wont connect to the itunes store. The error message it gives me says "Itunes could not connect to the iTunes store, make sure your network is active and try again." I can use the internet fine, and all programs can connect but itunes. I have the most recent version of itunes. Also the weather widget wont update or connect to the internet. I'd greatly appreciate any help! This is stumping me and just leaves me frustrated

Same problem here! Except--for reasons I won't go into--I use a VERY OLD version of itunes (6.0.1) and I don't ever want to update it. (I would use iTunes 4.0 if I could find it!) It's always worked fine until 11/01/2010. My Mac is a Powerbook G4 running osx 10.4 (Tiger) and I don't wish to update the os either. ADVICE>> Whatever you do, DON'T SIGN OUT OF YOUR iTunes ACCOUNT if you are still signed in. It won't let me sign back in. Of course, that means that I have lost the ability to play some 200 songs. And of the 200 or so iTunes I purchased from the iTunes store, I bought most of them with this laptop! At least on my Mac Mini, I stayed signed in so the songs still play, though I can't connect to the store with the mini either. Luckily, I backed them up to another (Windows) computer which can still connect to my account, so I will burn 10 or so CDs and re-load, re-title and load back into this laptop. Thanks a crapload Apple! I will never, ever buy anything from the itunes store again. With Amazon mp3s, CD Universe mp3s and even Walmart mp3s, you don't have to deal with this crap! Enough with this "Protected AAC" BS. If I buy a song, IT'S MINE! Not just on 5 computers (I have 5 desktops and 2 laptops--and that's just at home!) I'd rather rip from cd, vinyl and reel tapes than deal with all this! Crap and BS wasn't my first choice of words either!

  • I-tunes store wont connect after downloading I-tunes 7.5

After I downloaded Itunes 7.5 the store wont load. Everything else works fine. When I click i-tunes store it just is a blank page with grey letters saying I-tunes store. There is no error messages.

Try updating any security software you may have, or experiment with disabling it completely. If this isn't an option, make sure you have it configured for iTunes:

  • ITunes store wont connect to internet! Checked Everywhere! No Solution!

Basically, thats my problem. CANT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET! I tried everything. the flush dns thing and pop-up thing. I hev norton and the setting are fixed so it allows itunes. firewall if turned off. anything else i need to try? i really need this. i just bought a new ipod nano and i want to download songs. i can connect to internet fine and everything. I hev a dell inspiron E1505 laptop and internet is wireless. yes, i tried w/o wireless too. no use. HELP! i hev itunes 8.02 or something. the latest one.

Chyna26 , one thing that has helped a lot of folks using Norton is to take itunes out of the list of allowed programs. Save those Norton settings.
Then go back in and re-add itunes and itunes helper.
For some reason, Norton has been showing itunes as allowed, but it really isn't. So removing it and adding it back fixes the problem.
If that doesn't help, try posting your network diagnostics from itunes help.

  • ITunes Music Store will not allow me to connect

I have been trying to connect to the music store since I got my iPod last week. I have been using iTunes for a long time and I have always been able to connect to the store. When I installed the new software that came with my iTunes the store stopped working. I have stopped all anti virus, firewalls, security and anything else that has been recommended in other posts. I opened windows/system32/drivers and that was not the problem. I contacted apple and they gave me troubleshooting problems that didn't work, as I've tried them a million times. I also pinged phobos.apple.com and it says connection timed out 4 times and said information lost. So I don't know what else to do. I have windows xp with sevice pack 2 (which had been ruled out as the problem, I gurantee it), norton security (not the problem, I've disabled it and iTunes is allowed, nor is windows firewall the problem) and I can connect to the internet. The specific error message I am getting is iTunes cannot connect to the music store, network connection has been reset. make sure your network connections are active and try again. I just got a giftcard and I want to use it....any suggestions that aren't already all over every thread in the discussions?
    Thanks a lot!

I would first check your firewall settings, as well as your security software to make sure they are not blocking the Store connection.

Also, some software that you install on your computer can affect the way your computer sends and receives information from the Internet. A few examples of this software are:
    * Firewalls
    * Internet security software
    * Privacy filters
    * Web accelerators
    * Ad filters
If you cannot use the iTunes Music Store, try disabling this software temporarily to identify the culprit. Then, please refer to the documentation that came with the software to allow the iTunes Music Store to connect to the Internet. Thank you for your response. I am curious to know why if iTunes does not
answer non technical questions, why I received information when I replied to this
email. Listed below are the previous threads providing technical information.
Furthermore, if this is email is for billing disputes, I would like to have
my Mastercard credited $25.87 for a "gift this purchase/tv show" that I
purchased for my uncle on Christmas Day. I purchased the full first season of Monk.
I previously sent an email requesting credit on approximately January 2,
2006, and failed to receive a response. He never received the gift, or any
instructions about how to download the tv show, and I do not show a credit
appearing on my credit card. I would like to have credit for services not received.
Please credit the following card #XXXX
    Thank you.

Thank you for your response. I have tried these methods, AGAIN. None of
them seem to work. I also contact my ISP, AOL. Nothing they advised me to do
worked. Has iTunes performed recent upgrades? Just viewing the discussion
boards, it seems like a lot of people are having problems. Having paid $399
    for
the 60GB video ipod, I need more than a generic email telling me what to do,
when I already indicated in previous email that I followed the steps shown in

    Dear Emily,
Thank you for contacting the iTunes Music Store. Use the steps in the
following article to troubleshoot your connection problem.
I have been unable to connect for more than 24 hours on Windows.
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Music Store for more than a
day—and other customers on our discussion boards aren't experiencing similar
issues—a software or ISP configuration issue may be blocking your access to
    the iTunes Music Store.
    • Your copy of the iTunes application may be out of date.
    • If iTunes is out of date, it will not be able to connect to the
iTunes Music Store. You can download the latest version of iTunes from our
    website: ?http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    • You installed a third-party anti-virus or personal firewall
    application.
    • You will need to configure your software to allow iTunes to access
the Music Store. You can contact the software manufacturer if you have
questions regarding configuration. Click here for more information.
    • You upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 2.
    • Windows XP Service Pack 2, by default, enables the Windows Firewall.
As with a third-party firewall, you will need to configure Windows Firewall
to allow iTunes to access the Music Store. Read this document for more
information. If you have further questions about configuring the Windows Firewall,
    contact Microsoft's Service Pack 2 hotline at (888) SP2-HELP.
    • You upgraded to a high-speed or wireless Internet connection.
    • A new DSL or cable modem, or even a router, could be the culprit.
These devices allow your computer to access the Internet at a much higher speed,
or route your connection to multiple computers. However, they can also expose
your computer to hackers. To help prevent this, manufacturers of these
products often install firewalls to prevent hackers and viruses from compromising
your system. Although this layer of protection is beneficial, there are
occasions when a device may determine that the iTunes Music Store is a threat to the
computer. If this is the case, you will need to configure these devices to
allow iTunes to access the Music Store. Contact your ISP or the device
manufacturer if you need help configuring your device.
    • You switched to a new ISP.
    • If you didn't install new networking hardware, your ISP may be
blocking access to the iTunes Music Store. Let your ISP know about this document
which can help your them configure their servers to allow iTunes Music Store
    traffic through.
    Sincerely,
    The iTunes Music Store team

The error message I am receiving is "iTunes cound not connect to the Music
Store. Network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are
correct and network connection is active, then try again". I have been unable to
connect to the music store for at least 3-4 days. I have been using iTunes
since last October, successfully. I checked all my network connections & they
are fine. I am able to connect to AOL. I even uninstalled and reinstalled
iTunes several times, all successfully, but I am still encountering a problem.
    Thank you.
    Emily
Nice, effective customer service. I'm at my wit's end. I field customer service calls, and answer emails at work, and the general responses from the iTunes response library are ridiculous. Especially, after emailing me twice technical support emails, they tell me they do not handle technical support questions...
Any help or suggestions as to how I should respond to the next email is helpful...
I also forgot to mention I have been able to connect to iTunes since October 2005, and have been unable to connect for almost 2 weeks now. And, yes, I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes. I was advised over the phone to upgrade to XP Service Pack 2, but it looks like SP2 has issues. ANd, no, I did not download SP2, because the customer support rep admitted he knew nothing to very little about iTunes.
    Emily

    Emily,
thanks for your posting, it just reflects my experience (although I didn't contact the helpdesk, but after what you wrote I think I can skip that part). I am livin in China and buy from the German MS, worked fine until about a week ago when the download of an album stopped just after 5 songs. I have never been able to connect to the shop ever since.
The interesting thing is, that I get a response from their server in the domain phobos.apple.com (phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/storeFront) which I would interpret that there can't be a problem which they always list (Antivirus, Firewall etc...)
So will there ever be somebody from Apple who is going to give a better explanation how to solve the problem ? Or are there already too many people buying iPods and music ???

  • Itunes won't connect to Music Store.

FYI - Possible solution to Can't connect to network.
I had this problem and I uninstalled itunes and had an old copy laying around and I reinstalled the older version and then did the 'msconfig fix' (disable all services and then add a service one by one. It worked and I could connect to music store. Connected to the latest itunes version 6.0.something or other and I can now connect to music and Apple can now suck every loose penny I have.

This relates to an ongoing problem that Apple seems to be ignoring. I have been unable to make purchases for over a week now.

  • My iTunes Music Store Won't Work

My iTunes music store won't work. Ever since I tried upgrading my iTunes, the music store cannot connect. I don't think it is the iTunes itself because I have talked to people and theirs is working fine. Mine worked until I tried to update it. I tried to re-upgrade it but it still won't work.

It's working for me now. If it's working for you too then ignore the next step else go ahead and give it a try.
I uninstalled quick time and then itunes.
Restarted the machine and re-installed the latest update.
    This works! Good luck.
