Music stream from pc (home media server) to n80

Hi
I have successfully connected my N80 over wlan to my pc. i can copy music to my mobile over the wlan using the media server... But is ist also possible to play music wich is stored on my pc on my N80, without copying it to the phone. I mean something like a stream? Just read the file...
Thanks from Switzerland,
Leon

I have successfully streamed orb to my work PC but cant get this RealPlayer on the n80 to work.
I think there is a problem with the current firmware for RealPlayer streaming, it cant be this difficult to do it.

  • Problrm with Home Media Server

    Hi,
I have problem wit Home Media Server). When I want to synce something it stops on 0%.I can weit a bit but it helps not.It showes me that the synce is complete but nothings in my computer.
When I want tu transfer music than it finds the server and everythings fine but whit pictures it showes me that he cant find a server. My phone model is 5630 Xpress Music

I upgraded my Nokia Home Media Server by downloading and installing Simplecenter 4.2 (available at several download sites, just google for it). When I switched on Home Media Server on my N95-1, Simplecenter recognised it immediately.
I can now browse files on my PC from my N95-1, select a photo, video or music file and play it on the phone. (Remembering to select Options - Play On Device, otherwise the file details appear on my phone but it actually appears/plays on the PC!).
Operating from the PC doesn't seem to work though: I can't get Simplecenter to show the files on the phone. If I select Device - Copy From Device (which should produce a list of files on the phone), Simple Center scans and then tells me I have "0 items", - whereas in fact my phone has over 2000 tracks!
It is rather slow at finding files and to transferring them. It is unable to connect to the internet (to access Simplecenter's Music Store and find the list of supported devices).
I do wish Nokia would solve this connectivity problem by releasing their Home Music Manager device which streams over wi-fi, connecting your phone to your hi-fi, TV, PC and the internet. This device has been shown in Nokia's online store for over a year, unpriced and unavailable.

  • Streaming video and music from Media Server to N80

    Hi
Has anyone any idea (if it's at all possible) how to stream content (video or music) from Home Media Server on the PC to the phone? I can see how to play content on the PC on another uPnP device using the phone as a remote control and I copy files between the PC and phone, but really I just want to play MP3s from the PC on the phone without copying them across first.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
In Home Media Server 3.4, you are not prompted to create a user account and password through the product. User accounts became available in September 2006 with Home Media Server 4.0.
To give Home Media Server 4.0 a whirl, download it for free at:
    http://www.simplecenter.com/nokia/
In addition, the SimpleCenter Knowledge Base and Forum is in the process of being updated. And with luck, the new version will roll out by the end of November 2006. One major change is that the new version will no longer require a username and password to browse the technical articles and forum threads.
    Thanks,
    Katherine

  • N78 Home Media Server

Hi everyone, i recently purchased an N78 and have installed the Home Media Server software. since the N78 has WiFI and is a UPnP device, i was wondering if i could stream music from the phone to my computer and vice-versa? how do you do this, cos i can't seem to figure out the help in the program. (note also that i do not have a WiFI router, i just have the laptop that can tap into Wifi networks)

I believe that you do need a wireless router for it to be able to work.
See the link below to a thread from yesterday, it contains some useful links to the home media user guide and the home media server that you need.

  • How to use iMac as remotely accessible home media server

First time poster, and thanks in advance for any help that any of you might be able to provide. -- Josh
I have a mid-2007 iMac, several AppleTVs and Apple mobile devices, and a 2014 Macbook Pro coming at the end of the week (more detailed info below).  I have a roughly 1 TB library of movies, which are currently housed in an external hard drive attached to the iMac.  When I'm on my home network, I'm able to stream all the movies to all of the AppleTVs, iPhones, and iPads, using iTunes and home sharing, with almost no problem.  But, my family would like to access our movie library remotely, when at the airport, visiting family, etc.
I've researched various options, and am having a hard time parsing through some of the more technical information and figuring out what setup would work best.  It seems to me that although I can't use my iMac as a second display for the new MacbookPro because of technical limitations on the iMac, I might still be able to use the iMac as a remotely accessible home media server.  Running Plex on the iMac has been suggested, but I keep hearing conflicting information on whether the AppleTVs are compatible with Plex, and I've had trouble successfully forwarding ports several years ago when I played with Plex briefly.  iTunes/home sharing is just so easy in terms of setup and reliability between Apple devices, in my experience.  I looked into buying an AirPort Time Capsule, since I was looking into upgrading my router to support 802.11ac anyway (advice on that too?), but was told that neither the Time Capsule drive nor any drive attached to it would be remotely accessible.  Back to my Mac seems like it might work for me to access my library remotely when using the MacbookPro, but not any of the mobile devices (which are more important to the kids), and I'm not sure what advantage a NAS drive would have over using the iMac (although this is where it starts getting a bit technical for me).  Looked at OSX Server also, but not sure how that would interface with whatever additional components I need to get.
Thank you in advance for any help.  I'm sure people have figured out a way to access their media libraries remotely, but for some reason I can't find a straight answer on how.  I've included additional technical details about my setup below.  Thanks again!!
    iMac, 20-in, Mid 2007, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, OS X 10.9.4, 250 GB storage
    Macbook Pro w. Retina, 13-in, 2014, 2.6 GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM, 128 GB PCle-based Flash Storage
    Iomega HDD, 2 TB
Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router, Model No. WNDR3400v2
    AppleTV, 3rd generation (x3)
iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad (2nd gen), iPad mini w. Retina

Not really recommended to do what you want as the perfomance will be undesirable and make the experience lousy at best. If you have content you want to watch remotely then simply copy it to a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro and then bring one of the AppleTV's with you. Then you can stream directly from the MBA or MBP to the AppleTV on a remote TV. We did this on our last vacation, loaded a bunch of movies on my MBA, threw one of the ATV's in the suitcase and when we got to our hotel simply connected it using the hotels Wi-Fi and connected the ATV via HDMI to the TV and we were in business.

  • Home media server for mac, that you can also get to remotely.  Any ideas?  I am out of space on my macbook pro hard drive and appletv.  Need some sort of media server for delivery to macs, ipods, ipads, etc.  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I have been using my macbook pro as a home media server, hosting most content on the macbook with ipod touch, ipads, and appletv streaming/sharing content.  I have run out of space on both the macbook pro and the apple tv and am looking to moving the content to a home media server.  Any thoughts/suggestions?  I'd like something that I can access remotely too.  I have an old slingbox and also have a static IP address.
Any thoughts/suggestions would be most welcome!

Don't worry I've sorted it! I just had to turn off Reminders as well in iCloud. Calendar then worked fine, even when I turned Calendar and Reminders back on.

  • Playing video from a flash media server

  • N80 & HOME MEDIA SERVER, HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY GOT I...

Has anyone actually got their N80 to connect to thier pc's using the Simple server home media server software, if so what firmware have you got on your phone and what access point / wireless router are you using ?.
My N8- connects to my network just fine and can browse the internet just fine too, and I can also query my N80 using a upnp test program and it shows up just fine using that so it shows the upnp is not getting blocked by anything, but some some reason it just will not show up in the Pc software and when you try to connect to the pc with the N80 all you get is searching for devices..........
When I quey the phone with the test program I get :
    Description: Multimedia Device
    DeviceType: urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaServer:1
    FriendlyName: N80
    Manufacturer: Nokia
    ManufacturerUrl: http://www.nokia.com/
    ModelName: Nokia N80

    ModelURL: http://www.nseries.com/

    SerialNumber:
    UDN: uuid:f0086e4c-f219-10e0-ae0f-0016BC7B14C
    UPC:
So it seems to be working......

its late and i have not read your post in full (too bad).
if you've got the server installed (plus UPnP enabled on your router) you should see your phone. if the server can see it you will see a large picture of the N80 there, check the tabs. if you can't do anything with it (like i experienced initially), make sure you got into your actual phones home network sharing settings. i have to share the phones contents each time i use the sever. this finally makes the server see the phones contents as it displays additional tabs once properly connected (i.e. copy to device, copy from device).
    give that a go.

  • Home media server

    Hi
could someone please tell me where can i download the Nokia Home Media Server from... I got the disk with my N95 8 GB but my DVD Drive is not working so i can't install it from there... plus I also tried installin that simple centre but that's really slow...

    Thanks in advance

Is there a ban on all mention of the Home Media Server ??? I have not yet found one single explanation of what it really is, or does, how to find and download it. Was it once part of Ovi Suite? Is it a rebadged piece of software???
I have an E72 with dlna and wnat to use it to show images on my 24" PC screen - a pretty logical thing to do, I should have thought!?

  • While using the airport express can I listen to music streaming from the Internet?

While using the airport express can I listen to music streaming from the Internet?

The music must be in your iTunes library.
Or, you can try to add a special application like Airfoil that may allow you to stream any audio signal on your computer to the AirPort Express. It might work.

  • HP Home Media Server

Having trouble connecting my Macbook Pro Wirelessly to my HP Home Media Server. Any help for this?

That error means that the OS is returning an error saying that the disk is full.
Most likely this is a problem with the server software, or your local system.
But saving locally and copying is your best bet.

  • Home Media Server - Error Loading Supported Device...

I have recently installed the Home Media Server application that came on the DVD with my N82, onto my PC.
However, I am unable to 'see' my N82 as a device.  When I select, Add new Devices I get an error message stating 'Error loading Supported Devices - please check your internet connection.
I thought that this may be a Firewall issue but Home Media Server is listed in my Firewall as accepted.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated
    History: Always Nokia since 1994 including Nokia 2140, 7110e, 6150, 6210, 6310i, 6230i, N82
Current: Nokia N8 (Anna - I have no intention of going to Belle) - and delighted with it!

Have you tried searching the forum? I remember quite a few people had this problem a few years ago.
Make sure you search the entire forum, not just the N series board as I think the answer is in one of the other more appropriate boards.
Use the keywords "home media server". Answers that apply to other models like the N95 should also apply to the N82.

  • Captivate 5 will NOT play streaming video from my Flash Media Server

Recently I have begun attempting to convert older projects to captivate 5. However, once I started loading the videos I quickly realized that they are not playing in captivate 5! I know that these videos stream from the server just fine as I have been running them with other products and I know that the paths are correct because I've been using a web player to test the paths of the videos that will not play. How do I get around the bugs in Captivate and get the video working?

Looking at this issue, here is what I see:
Looking at the source code from the URL you supplied
    http://www.uab.edu/smsfiles/video.cgi?OU=CEVS&VIDEO=AD_clip_setup.f4v
Looks to me that the rtmp server has a different name than the one you provided: streamer: ["rtmp://wwwsms.it.uab.edu:1935/CEVS/"]
Is the file truly an FLV or F4V?  Looks to me like it is a MP4.  [file : "AD_clip_setup.f4v-lo.mp4"]
I think this will still boil down to getting the correct format for the URI.
    Just my thoughts.

  • HP Media Server or MacMini for home media server

I am torn between the new HP media server with Windows Home server or a MacMini for my home server.
Can anyone provide insight on which would be better?
I am looking to store all my media, data on either one. I.E. Pictures, Music/Video - to stream to AppleTV etc.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I know you have already marked the question as solved, but if you are still torn between the HP or Mac Mini here is what I did.
Although the HP has more storage space, I went for the Mac Mini option because; the foot print is smaller if you want to put under a TV, it uses less electricity and I felt Mac OSX was a more stable platform to work with.
The Mac Mini use a 2.5" Sata drive, so you are limited in upgrading past 320GB. There is a 2.5" 500GB drive out however I don't know if it will fit as when I read about it six months ago the article said it is slightly thicker, but I could be wrong.
To get around the problem of storage space, I attached a 1TB SATA hard drive via Firewire, which cost about £120. Although there are cheaper 1TB hard drives around, I went for one with an Oxford Chipset as it is always going to be on and I didn't want it to fry out.
I connect to the Mac Mini remotely to manage it. It's dead easy to set up file sharing, and I ended up giving my brother and dad there own storage space that they can log into with a username and password. One uses XP and the other uses Leopard.
The other great thing is you can configure iTunes and system preferences to automatically rip a CD or DVD and add it to the library then eject automatically when it is done. This may be obvious but it is incredibly useful feature, as it saves having to rip it on your personal computer then transferring the files.
The streaming capability of the Intel Core Duo is really good, so far we have been able to get it to stream to the AppleTV, 2 MacBooks and 1 Sony Vaio, while converting an avi movie to MP4 through Visual Hub, it might be able to handle more iTunes streaming we just ran out of computers to test it with.
Hope this helps in any decision making.
