Music stuck in "Shuffle" mode

All of a sudden, all music plays in "shuffle" mode only. I can's see any setting to turn off "shuffle" mode, save for doing a reset from Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings, which I really I would not want to do.
Any other way to fix this?

play a song. from there, tap the screen once. you should see the progress bar show near the top. to the right of that should be the shuffle icon. tap it to toggle on/off. if it is blue, shuffle is on. white(or gray), off.

  • Ipod Nano is Stuck in Shuffle Mode in my Nissan Juke

I plug my Ipod Nano into the glove box and I am able to use the control on my dash and steering wheel to control my Ipod. The only problem is, I can't go to whatever artist I want. The Ipod will only allow me to listen to the songs in shuffle mode. Anyone having the same issue or know anything about it?

I have the same problem with my 6g when connecting to my Ford Fusion. It shuffles everything.
    I have:
-- performed a "master reset" on Sync
    -- updated Sync software
-- restored my new ipod through iTunes
-- restored the settings on the ipod itself
    -- updated ipod software
-- *disabled the "shuffle" options for Sync*
-- *turned off the "Shake to Shuffle" option on my new ipod*
-- indexed the music on my iPod (through iTunes) in this order: genre, artist, album, track
...and it still shuffles my music. I don't believe it's Sync because I had a 2nd generation iPod too. It works with Ford's Sync with no problems.
So, this is the same issue with the 6 generation iPod nano with 2 different car companies and 2 different vehicle models:
    --Nissan Juke
    --Ford Fusion
I think it's a bug that needs addressing.

  • I have a 4th Gen Ipod Shuffle Stuck In Shuffle Mode

I switch the button on the top, and I hear the little shuffle sound, but it still shuffles the songs...
The off button works, but when I choose between shuffle and having the songs in alphebetical order
It doesn't play them in alphebetical order no matter what I do.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPhone Music STUCK on SHUFFLE

I can't seem to turn the shuffle OFF in the iPod on my iPhone 4. Any suggestions?
After reading the pdf manual it says to tap song/album artwork and you will get yourself a scrubber bar menu which has Repeat, Genuis and Shuffle on it to select (highlight) or deselect, but I don't get the Scrubber Bar!!!
    Cheers,
    Denty

you might also check the 'shake to shuffle' and make sure that is off. that setting is in "settings -> ipod".

  • In shuffle mode, cant go to menu

I have a click wheel ipod, not the video one though. I just purchased it about 4 days ago. And, last night, I was listening to it in shuffle mode, and decided I wanted to listen to a certain artist.. I turned off "hold" and hit "menu". Nothing happened, I hit it again, same thing, and kept trying... no response. I couldnt get to the menu.
I thought, "wonder if the light will work", so I held down "menu" and sure enough, the light turned on. Wierd. So, I turned the "hold" on and off several times to see if I could go to menu, and still nothing happened. So, right now, I have my 20GB Ipod stuck in shuffle mode and cant access the menu.
Granted, this IS a refurbished Ipod. Can anyone help? or will I have to return it?

Ah, thanks Bryan... well, I can probably get acess to USB then if the mini USB is the same. I'd rather reset it when I can put music on it :P, instead of doing it and not being able to listen to anything at all...
And if resetting does it work, pretty much S.O.L, right?

  • 80gb Video iPod Stuck in Shuffle...

I have an issue where my iPod seems to be stuck in shuffle mode no matter what I do. I have set Shuffle to Off in the settings and whenever I go into an album or artist it still shuffles everything and if the album is less than a certain amount of songs it just goes back to album selection screen after scanning through.
Anyone else have any issues like this?
    Thanks.

Haven't tried to reset yet..as my main pc is at home and I am not...
But here is what I think is happening..if anyone knows this for a fact please let me know:
My iPod has the same settings for a playlist as in iTunes..so if in iTunes the playlist is set to shuffle...no matter what you set on the iPod it will shuffle that playlist.
Least that is what I can think of for my situation right now..as I have one playlist that is behaving properly...but others still shuffle...and just by selecting an album in Music causes shuffle too...so maybe they are related in some aspect with iTunes settings.

  • In shuffle mode, some songs never get played, why?

I have most of my music in 1 playlist (about 2500 songs) which I listen to all the time, always in shuffle mode. I became aware that my ipod was never playing some songs, yet others were recurring quite frequently. When I checked the playcount, it showed the highest count at 46, yet it also showed that many tracks that had been in the playlist just as long, have never been played. Why is this? Is my ipod secretly asserting it's own taste in music? Does shuffle mode favour songs with a higher playcount? Is there a way to stop this happening? Has anybody else experienced this? Suggestions gratefully received.

I've heard this excuse before, that what we think is random really isn't, but when certain trends occur enough times, its pretty clear that there is some kind of algorithm or something in the coding that affects the shuffle.
I know random means random, but there are too many "random" coincidences and apparent patterns that occur to raise doubt that it truly is as random as Apple claims.
One such example, is that when using the Shuffle Songs feature (that shuffles all tracks on the iPod) I had 2-3 tracks from the same album (an album I had never even listened to yet) showing up within the first 40 tracks five times in a row. Numerous other songs showed up in at least 3 of the 5 "trials." Out of 8,000 songs.
On a playlist (of 300 or less songs is all I have tried), if you have multiple songs off the same album, you are far more likely to hear at least one other song off a given album within about 10 songs then you are to not hear a song off the same album. A specific example of this is on a playlist of 105 songs I have, there are 3 songs off one album, however nearly every time 2 of the songs will play within a 10 track range, and nearly as often all 3 songs will play within the same 20 track range.
I know random isn't perfectly spaced songs, but when certain things happen often enough, the odds of it become so low that even the "true random" explanation doesn't cover it.

  • Stuck on shuffle

Help - my 512 mb shuffle is stuck in shuffle mode.
Reset the Shuffle (I turn it off after each use, so it is always reset when I turn it on).
I have updated the software - did not help
Checked that iTunes was not in shuffle mode - it isn't.
Created playlists and then dragged those to the shuffle - still shuffles.
What else can I try ?
The shuffle is more than a year old, so I assume it is no longer covered by Apple.

Be sure the option "Choose songs randomly" is not selected. If it is, iTunes will transfer songs to the Shuffle in random (i.e., shuffled) order.

  • I have an iPod of rock and pop tracks which i generally use on shuffle mode. Now I have a second iPod to store classical music. If I plug it in to my pc will it duplicate my rock and pop or will it register as a different device?

I have an iPod Classic with rock and pop tracks on which I generally play in shuffle mode. I have now bought a second iPod Classic to store and play classical music as I don't want to shuffle rock with classical. What will happen when I attach the new iPod to my pc? Will it register as a new device with an iTunes file of its own, or will it duplicate what I already have on the original iPod?

You can attach the second iPod and configure it to sync whatever content you like without affecting the first iPod.  I would take a look at this article for different ways to manage multiple iPods on one computer.

  • Sound gets stuck on "headphones mode" every time i try to play music.

i know there's already a topic like this, but this one is a tad bit different.
ever since i updated to 3.1.2 on my iPhone 2nd gen, every time i use my iPhone headphones and take them out, i'm stuck on "HEADPHONES" mode until my iPhone decides it doesn't want to be in it anymore. i read all the stories about blowing it with an air canister, did it. sucking the dust out, sadly i did it. plugging in and out, did it. restoring, did it.
it just ***** that i can't use my iPhone for music.. it makes me want to use my blackberry again.
    any suggestions?

Your iCloud backup doesn't contain your music.  It will restore music purchased from the iTunes store to your iOS device if you restore the backup by redownloading it from the iTunes store.  You can also redownload music purchased from the iTunes store to your iTunes library on your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.  This will not recover music from other sources.
To transfer music from your phone to your computer, you will need to extract it using 3rd party software such as Touch Copy.
