Music suddenly stops mid-song

Lately, my iPod nano (gen 4) will stop in the middle of a song. I'll pick it up and advance to the next song and it will happen again. But here are the really odd things: first, only music stops, not pod casts or audio books; and second, so far this has happened only in my car (plugged into the audio port), not when it's plugged into exercise equipment. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on? Is the iPod nearing its end date?

You will probably need to quit iTunes when this happens since it may still have an active reference to a file on the iPod.
If you ever get a message telling you a disk is in use when you eject it, it is probably because a file on the disk is still open by an application. The best thing to do in this situation is quitting the programs that you think that used a file on that disk. This may be necessary because an application forgot to close a file.

  • Siri keeps activating and podcast & music app stop mid song

was just wondering if this is a known issue or only something i am experiencing, it appears to have started within the last week, siri will activate asking for a question then will immediate make the tone when you do not submit anything or cancel.  this seems to happen only when i am using the podcast or music app, which both also randomly stop mid song.  it will occasionally jump ahead to the next track, but this is much more rare.  it also seems to occur a lot more regularly when i am walking. any ideas?

  • I have songs on iTunes that seem to have corrupted files with time.  The songs play for a while then suddenly stop mid-song and iTunes goes to the next song.  On my iPod the playback pauses for a few seconds then picks up again.

Some of these songs were purchased via iTunes.  I would like to download them again but the Download buttons are grayed out when I bring up the purchased songs listing.  Any help appreciated.  Is there any way to quickly get a file integrity check done?

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting those incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them (if they are still in your country's store) via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes. Or delete them and copy them back (File > Add To Library) from your backup of your downloads/library.

  • TS1470 Downloaded songs stop mid-song in iTunes music library and on iPod.

I received the 'secure network connection could not be established' error message several times during a recent audio download.  I was able to eventually complete all of the downloads by going to the 'available downloads' area.  However, when I played back the downloaded songs, several of them ended mid-song although the complete songs appear to have successfully downloaded judging by the 'Time' (minutes) count for each song.  (Interestingly enough, the majority of the songs that stopped mid-song during playback were marked as having high popularity in the iTunes store.)
I've had this issue with previous downloads too.  I've been charged for and have paid for these songs, but didn't receive the full product in some cases.  It's very frustrating that I'm not able to enjoy these songs in their entirety.
Have other folks had this issue?  What is the resolution?

Something may have gone wrong with the index of the Music playlist. Download the current iTunes Free Single of the Week. I know it sounds odd, but it should fix the problem.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes folder, then start iTunes again. It should run a consistency check when it starts up.

  • When playing music from Ipod in my car, music suddenly stops and message appears to restore in iTunes.  After a few minutes, it starts to play again.  I hear a click and the apple logo shows on the screen.  Any ideas??

You may need to do a Restore in iTunes.
Clicking sounds from an iPod that has a hard drive is probably not a good thing.  It is possible that your iPod's hard drive is becoming unreliable.

  • HT1725 I have downloaded an album from itunes, and one or two of the songs play in full but most of them stop mid song, even though it said 'download complete'. How do I fix this?

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entries, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)

  • ITunes stops mid song

All software is up to date and all old and recent songs do the same thing play for a bit, then it stops/freezes then plays again. Does this or every track. WHY?!?

    I got a similar problem.
There are some songs that will play perfectly on Winamp or WMP, but when on iTunes, it will play until an specific point and then change to the next song like if the song had just ended, but it hasn't. It's on mid-song.

  • My iphone 4 when playing music suddenly stops.

When playing music on my iphone the music randomly stops as the volume slider image disappears as the song is playing. What to do?

try doing a reset all settings!

  • Music suddenly stop playing

Jus buy myself an ipod shuffle.... It sudden stop playing over some time with a "special" sound come out from the earphone. It does not responsive unless i reset it. Then it need to be reset for 10s. What actually cause this problem? It does not happen on the same song. Sometimes can be happen after 10mins or 30mins.
PS: the "special" sound is like song problem but doesn't seems like the song problem as i check on the same song after resetting my ipod.

I've had the same problem happen to me 3 times. It happened to me this morning while I was running. I was using my new replacement that the apple store had swapped out for me. It's gotten to the point of being beyond frustrating. I'd like for it to hold up thru my half marathon.

  • Bouncing Ball Just Suddenly Stops Mid Bounce

I have a application where each time you click the add ball button a new randomly colored ball is added to the jpanel. It works fine except that the balls suddenly stop at the same spot. I want them to continue to bounce for a longer period of time instead of like 8 bounces. It was going around withoutstopping prior to my getting the add new ball part working. Actually it is comiliable as I ran it numerous times today asI tried to fix it. No, it does not compile. Besides the obvious error:
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOS  E);, a large part of the BounceFrame class seems to be missing: I don't see a addButton(...) anywhere.
I posted here since it says new to java which I am. I also have posted here before with questions relatedto swing and 2D elements like graphs and no one else had an issue. It's not prohibited to post it here, but in the 2d forums, there are more people who know what they're talking about when it comes to 2D animations.
Thanks for the links to the other forums I will post there. Sorry to bother you guys as I was not aware that New to Java meant only if it doesn't involves things like swing and 2DIt's not a bother: I merely said it for you to get help sooner.

  • IPod was working fine, then suddenly it began stopping mid song, when the screen goes dark, the music pauses. Why and how do I fix it. I already did a full restore.

I used to be able to leave the music playing and put the screen to sleep by tapping the power button. Now that same tap stops the music. If I dont push the button, the music plays for about a minute and then pauses. If I keep the screen active, the music contiues. I have tried a complete restore. Help anyone?

Is the headphones plug pushed in completely?
Does the headphones you are using have remote control buttons on the cord?  If you try a different set (any type), does this problem still occur?

  • Iphone 4 music shuts off mid song (post iOS 5.1 update?)

I'm not sure if this started happening after I updated it to iOS 5.1, but when I'm listening to music on my iPhone4, it will just shut off out of the blue. I know it does that when you are receiving a call, but it does it for no reason. Is it something I can fix? Is anyone else experiencing this and has some tips on how to fix? Thanks!

I haven't. I'm at work asking this question and haven't backed it up in a couple of days. I guess I should have asked this question after doing those things... I will try that. Thanks

First make sure you have no mute on. Try using another player to see if you hear sound. If you do hear sound in other players go here and follow there suggestions and links

  • Music just stopped playing, sometimes mid song have tried resync, restore

I have the 4s and about a week ago the music will stop mid song, sometimes a reboot fixed it and it will play again, sometimes I can not get it to play again!  Tried deleting all my music and readding.  Even tried a restore!!!! Help!

Okay - nevermind. I was playing around with it, tried to restore it and it didn't work, then when I was just pressing random things to try and make it work, it started working again. I just pressed the top 5 circles where you can star / rate a song :S and it began working. Weird. Nevermind and thanks anyways.
