Music synch issue w/ iPhone 3GS - Synched titles disappearing...

I can see and play the titles on my iphone while synchronization is processing then the titles disappear
I tried rebooting both notebook and iphone, still the same
Any idea?

Just a quick update with a couple more details before I go to work:
I left my phone plugged into the wall charger all night long but the Apple logo is still blinking on and off. However, when unplugged from the charger, the screen goes blank and the unit does not respond to pressing/holding the buttons at all. Likewise, flipping the mute switch does not cause the phone to vibrate as it normally would, which made me wonder if power was being disrupted somewhere else in the unit before the battery. I just finished disassembling the unit down to the battery, looked for any loose connections etc., and did spot a suspicious looking spot on top of the #5 ribbon connector that I had not taken notice of before in my first disassembly. I'll take a picture of it and post a link for your consideration later on today when I have a spare moment, although I fear the worst.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • Music issues with iphone 3gs and itunes

I deleted a song from my library and computer but it wasn't removed from my iPhone 3GS, how do I get rid of it? I only have IOS 4.3.2 and don't want to download IOS 6 or jailbreak my iPhone. In addition, it was a ringtone that I downloaded and it isn't functionalling properly, but it also appears in my normal music among the other songs. I need to delete the song from both my ringtones and my songs, please help.

Nevermind, I got it to work. I was trying it on a DRM protected file. Doing it with a non-DRM protected file worked fine and it showed up in the "Custom" section of the Ringtone page.
If the ringtone file you purchased does not show up as a ringtone and you see it as a music file instead, you should be able to use a utility to strip the DRM info and then convert it into a ringtone (plenty of tutorials for doing this around the intertubes).

  • How do I transfer husband's iPod Touch apps, settings, contacts, music to my old iPhone 3gs

I have an iPhone 3GS and have upgraded to a 4--my husband wants to use it as an iPod Touch. How do I get his stuff (music, contacts, notes, mail, etc. that is backed up both on iCloud and iTunes from his iPod Touch) to the 3GS?
We each have our own iTunes account and I've backed up everything to his iTunes and to his iCloud...I have erased the iPhone tried setting it up for him as an iPod Touch.  When prompted to backup, I selected "backup from iTunes"--it says the device can not be recognized. The 3GS is running the most current iOs.

  • Unable to transfer applications and music after changing from iphone 3GS to iphone 4

I just switced from an uphone 3GS to and iphone 4. Before doing so i ran a backup on my iphone 3GS. after getting the iphone 4 i ran a restore.
Most of the settings are in tact except i no longer have any applications or music.
Please advise how i can restore these settings as well.
    Thank you.

Did you use the same account settings for your new phone? Did you check if there are any restrictions set for app installation in Settings/General/Restrictions?
Restoring from a backup does not include the music files or apps. You'll have to select them again and sync. Only app data and settings are part of the backup. See what else is saved here: iPhone and iPod touch: About backups

  • Email issues on iPhone 3GS after OS4 update

    Hi,
I updated my firmware to OS4 yesterday, and my email has been on the blink since then.
Basically, whenever I check my email, I get stuck on the "Connecting..." display forever. The phone never checks my mailboxes, it's just eternally "Connecting..."
The only way I've gotten around this is by turning off the phone, then turning it back on. Once I do that, the phone collects the mail - but only ONCE. After that, it goes back on the endless "Connecting..." loop.
What's the problem? I never had this issue with the last firmware. Just as of yesterday. I have three email accounts on my iPhone - but like I said, the old firmware handled all of them without issue.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

I had two users that were unable to get email from Microsoft Exchange 2003 on their iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4. One other user, however, had no problems after the upgrade. The only difference was that the user with his email functioning had minimal messages in his Inbox.
So for the two other users, I archived email messages to reduce their Inboxes from around 13,000 messages to below 2,500 messages. Once I did this, email started flowing through just fine. I did this to the Sent Items as well, and it worked too. I would give that a try.

  • Begginers issues with iPhone 3GS

    Hi,
I got my iPhone 3GS a few weeks ago and I´m very impressed but also litle dissapointed.
Hope somebody can help my with my problems.
    1. Why can´t I choose ANY song, sound I want for the ringsignal or SMS (without buying the song from iTunes) ??? Actually I managed to get make a ringsignal without buying the track from iTunes but I haven´t been succefull with the SMS signal. Feels like a cell from the 90´s.
    2. Is there any way I can create groups in Contacts? I found some Aps for it but I read that apple doesn´t allow group sms?? Is that true?
    3. Is there any way to sync windows live calender??? It seems like you can sync every other calender but not that one.
    4. And is there any other calender-Aps that can alarm like the original calender not by mail or sms?
    5. Is there any way to save a sms without sending it? If you´re not ready typing it.
Some of the issues above, I heard, is do to that apple don´t allow these applications. If that´s true then what´s the use of 3rd part application if you can´t use than completly??? I HOPE I´m missinformed.
PS excuse my english, it´s not my native language.

To make your own ringtones, google ehow iPhone ringtones. You cannot change SMS tones.

You can send SMS to multiple people but you have to select each one and add them.

    No, there is not.

If you're not ready to send it, type it in Notepad and then paste it into your SMS when you are ready to send.

  • Problem with trasferring music from itunes to Iphone 3Gs.

    Hi
I have a problem with trasferring music from Itunes to Iphone and that is,
as soon as I finish transferring music to my Iphone, Itunes suddenly stops at the stage of where it says (at the top-centre of the screen), 'Sync Min's Iphone'.
Due to this reason, I've restored my Iphone a couple of times and reinstalled itunes but same problem occurs whenever I try to transfer music.
It appears music are successfully transfered since I could play the music on my Iphone but I wanna fix the problem since it's pretty annoying.
is there anything I can do about it?
    Thanks

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes (8.2.1?). If so, I'd reinstall iTunes, if the phone is otherwise working fine.

  • Connectivity issue with iPhone 3GS and Time capsule 7.6.1

I've upgraded the firmware of my Time Capsule. Now i have WiFi connectivity problems with my iPhone 3GS. My iMac and two iPads (version 1 & 2) are doing fine.
Very strange in this situation is when I at a rare moments are able to connect my iphone to the wifi my iPad2 connection falls out. But after a minute or 2 the system disconnects my iphone and reconnect my ipad.
For info: I'm using an iMac 27" 3.4 Intel Core i7 with Mac OS 10.7.3 - all software is updated.
    Thanks for reaction
    Stephan

The iphone is very sensitive to channel selection..
Open the airport utility manual settings.. Go to the wireless.. change its name to something simple without spaces.. TC24 would do nicely.
Set the wireless to b/g a/n so it works with everything .. not auto.
And set the channels manually.. 2.4ghz (which iphone uses) set channel to either 1, 6, 11.. these are the only channels that do not overlap..
Try and see if the iphone connects..
Set security.. WPA2 personal and put in a suitable key.. pure alphanumeric no spaces.

  • HT6146 Doed this update also address the GPS issues on iPhone 3GS?

With IOS6.X (and all other 3GS users) I lost the FULL GPS function I had when I purchased my iPhone 3GS (I assume its behaviour is like an iPod touch now), I was wondering if Apple have included a fix with this update?

I had two users that were unable to get email from Microsoft Exchange 2003 on their iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4. One other user, however, had no problems after the upgrade. The only difference was that the user with his email functioning had minimal messages in his Inbox.

  • Issues with iPhone 3Gs

When I'm calling, I can't hear any tone when dialing. My SMS also seem, that they weren't sent but they actually did. And my iPhone 3gs keeps restarting all the time! plese, do something

my iPhone 3gs keeps restarting all the time!
Restore your phone in iTunes, first using a backup, and if needed as a new iPhone, without using a backup.
Note that if your phone was previously jailbroken or hacked to unlock, this may not work or may disable the phone completely.

  • Time Zone issues with iphone 3GS running ios4

My iphone calendar reminders have been behaving strangely since the ios 4 upgrade. I checked time zone support and it was set to my current city (Indianapolis, EST). Phone has been recently synched, and is otherwise behaving normally.
I travel occasionally to Chicago which is in CST. I noticed when I was there that reminders were coming up at the meeting's posted time. E.g. at 9:00 am when I was in Chicago I was getting reminders for 9 am meetings in Indianapolis (by which point the meeting had already occurred).
When I returned to Indy, I am still getting notifications at odd times - I got a reminder at 12:15 pm that a meeting would be starting at 12:30 pm. The meeting was actually set to start at 1:30 pm.
My next step is to reset the iphone, but this seems like a buggy situation. I hope I don't need to make it a normal part of my not-infrequent travel across the time zone borders to reset my iphone.

I have a 3G and also have this issue. I am in EST and travelled to CST. Since I got back, my reminders are showing up 1 hour too early. I am going to do a hard reset and see what happens. Let me know if you find a solution.

  • Photo sync issues with iPhone 3GS

My wife is having two problems with photos on the iPhone.
The first problem she is having is some photos that she wants on the iPhone will not sync because "The iPhone cannot display them". The photos are in JPG format, and she has several other JPGs on the iPhone.
Which leads us to the second problem. When she syncs the iPhone with iTunes she gets duplicate photos on the iPhone. Also, they cannot be deleted as there is no trash icon when she browses them.
Her phone is a 1 day old 16 GB 3GS, using a Win XP machine (iTunes 8.2.1.6)
Any help is appreciated as she is very frustrated by this.
    Thanks,
    -Seth

Photos transferred from the computer to the iPhone via the iTunes sync process are selected under the Photos tab for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. Photos transferred via the iTunes sync process is a one way transfer process only - from the computer to the iPhone, and are removed from the iPhone in the same way - via the iTunes sync process - the same for music and video. Photos transferred to the iPhone via the iTunes sync process cannot be deleted by the iPhone. Photos captured by the iPhone - photos in the iPhone's camera roll can be deleted by the iPhone.
Not sure about the photos that will not transfer problem - I've never had a problem transferring any photos from my Mac, which are all jpeg format.

  • Music sorting issue with iPhone 4

My music  has always been sorted by Artist on iTunes and on my iPhone, not Album Artist. Just recently I did a restore and after syncing iPhone, the music is being sorted by Album Artist. iTunes is setup the same as it ever was. There are alot of songs that would need fixing to my liking if I had to manually switch each song.
    On a side note,
Just got a new iPhone 4 with my Black Tie and same issue, so two different iPhones, same issue.

1.) Tell Bluetooth to forget the UConnect Device
    2.) Repair to UConnect.
3.) When you go thru the pairing process, delete the old names of the phone and come up with a new name for the new pairing.
4.) Power down vehicle and Uconnect
5.) Power down the iPhone completly, hold down the top right hand button till you get the power screen then turn it off.  Leave it off for a touch, say 2 min.
6.) Hit home screen button or top right button and repower phone.
You should be able to connect with Uconnect again by bluetooth and you will have the same options as before with audio.
