Music tapes

Is there any way I can transfer music tapes and VHS tapes to my computer. I have got quite a few tapes thatI would like to put on CD. If so what do I need

You can use a tape deck and a device like the iMic to digitize the audio tapes and get them onto your iMac. You can then put the songs into iTunes.
To digitize VHS tapes you would need to play them on a VHS deck and then use a device to digitize the output of the VHS deck and send a DV (digital video) stream (via FireWire) to your iMac and into iTunes.
You can use mini-DV camcorders with the digital pass-through feature. These will digitize the analog input on the fly to DV and send it out via FireWire.

  • ITunes would not let me download music properly to my iPhone 4S, can someone shed some light on how I can fix it?

I recently aquired an iPhone 4S, perfectly fine, around 2 months old. everything is working fine, and all apps and music are downloaded on to iTunes and WERE origionally on the iPhone. I started to then add more songs from iTunes, though the phone started refusing to download them and then the majority of my collection were then deleted. I did origionally think that this was simply because it could not find the location of all the music files, though upon searching i found that iTunes could indeed fine every single file, and that they all played perfectly well in iTunes. I did reset the phone and try simply re-installing the exact same storage pre-reset, though it simply made all of the songs like that. The iPhone (4S, 32GB, 4 month old) did have around 900 songs on it, all playing fine, though recently the number on iTunes is around 1240, though I don't want all the songs on.
It is not that I am incapable of understanding the software of iTunes or of the iPhone, and I have had previous Apple products and also had interaction with various models (iPhone 5/5C/5S) and Android, so it this is where it stumps me on what the actual problem is.
I have tried doing things like:
    Reseting the phone
Making an individual playlist with all of the songs that I want on my phone
Downloading Albums/Artists/songs/playlists individually (as to rule out if it is a specific artist/song/so on
Downloading everything and then trying to get iTunes to download the actual song directly
When updating/syncing my options on the Music tap on iTunes when the iPhone is plugged in, it registers on iTunes that the every song that I have ticked to be included in the sync has been synced, though upon checking my iPhone on the music app, the majority of the music will either have failed to sync or not be there, or be registered but unplayable (the title of the song is slightly transparent/grey). Then upon inspection of the [Settings>General>About>Songs], the count does not equate to that which is stated on iTunes.
Any help will be appreciated as soon as possible, as my iPhone is used for music a significant amount of the time and the loss of around 700 songs off of my phone is quite significant.
Bearing in mind that I am only 16 years old and have no actual IT knowledge in-depth of what is actually occuring other ethan what the consumers can see through such things as the settings and the location of files and their formats, I would be appreciative if any explanation wouldn't end up being too confusing, nor it being patronising (for instance, my ignorance of how to download music to iTunes)
    Thanks, atsdkg

    I have help for you!!!
I had EXACTLY the same issue recently. What I had to do on my PC was go into the My computer section> click on my C drive> click on users> click on my username> go into music and then iTunes> Here you should see something that says iTunes Library. Make sure that iTunes is Closed and then take the iTune library and drag it onto Your desktop. This will create a copy on the desktop but iTunes will not see it. Reopen iTunes and you should see an option to scan for media. Once you do this iTunes should re-build your iTunes library and It should be able to sync. If it syncs fine and all your content is available go to the iTunes library that you dragged to the desktop and delete it as you should not have a new one. If this does not work absolutley do NOT delete the iTunes library that is on the desktop.
Call Apple and let them know of the steps you have taken and request some help. This should fix it though!

  • IPod music lost after upgrading to iOS 8.3

I own a 5th generation iPod touch. When I connected to my computer the iTunes prompted me to update to the latest iOS available i.e., 8.3 and I accepted it. In the process it downloaded the software and restarted my iPod but somewhere in that process I got a prompt in iTunes stating a Unknown error occurred. I verified the iPod to see if the device is up and running. It showed the latest OS version 8.3 but to my dismay there were no music albums at all. All the songs which I had in the iPod prior to the upgrade were vanished.
I tried the restore option in iTunes which was backed-up just before the upgrade (automatically by the upgrade process), but looks like it only restores contacts, calendars etc but not the music.
When I connect my iPod to the computer it sometimes shows the space usage as if the music prior to the upgrade is still in the iPod. Even the Songs and other information are still shown in both the iPod & the iTunes. But when I play it will show exclamation mark against that file in iTunes and in iPod it just keeps skipping to the next song and nothing gets played as there are no songs at all.
Please let me know if there is any solution for this weird loss of data from iPod.

First get the songs to play in iTunes on the computer. Re Import CD music to  iTunes or redownload iTunes purchases
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Then
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync

    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

After updating my ipod touch 4th gen ios 4.1 to ios 6.1.6, browsing my music files became super slow..I lost all my music files and was even forced to download new ones..But im not happy with maneuvering my music files after the update as it takes really slow to move from one playlist to another..I wish I could downgrade it to my original ios 4 as it was much faster then in maneuvering music files. Or is there a way for me to make it faster???Im only using my ipod touch 4th gen for listening to my music files and nothing more. I also noticed that whenever I dock my ipod touch to my Bose sound Dock, the remote control only function on its volume controls but not the skip buttons. i sent my Bose dock to Bose service center and told me that my Bose dock system is working fine but not my Ipod touch 4th gen.. • My Ipod touch wont let me add or take off music. How can i reset my music and everything else without deleting any app data?

It wont let me take any music off and in Itunes it says that I only have 40 songs that are on my cloud. But my Ipod says i have 1400 songs on my ipod and lets me play them all. I dont understand what i should do but i dont want to do a factory reset, that is the last thing i want to do. If you have any suggestions that would be great. Thank you

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
    Come back with the results.

  • Issues with itunes/icloud and music on my Iphone 5 and PC

I had to set up my laptop (windows based pc)  as my main itunes device because my desk top died.  I installed intunes (the newest version and icloud as well.)   thought I had everything set up.  I then redownloaded all the purchased music from the itunes store and also moved all my own music (cdpurchases for many years) from an external device to the laptop and put it all back into itunes.  I set up all my playlists the way I wanted to and then synced my phone (with the new IOS 7) to the laptop.  when I got finished syncing my phone all the music appeared to be on my phone yet a lot of it had the cloud next to it and most of that did not have the album art that I so painstakingly over numerous hours made sure was on each album.  Itunes used to let me cut and paste album art that was not available from itunes into the get info section but now no matter what I did it would not install.  I was playing my music at work yesterday and a lot of the music with the icloud next to it would stop and start repeatedly.  I got home and deleted Icloud from my system which of course disabled the find my phone function.   but when I synced my phone after, it installed all the music and the album art.  Has anyone else run into these issues??  Were you able to fix the problem without deleting Icloud?
I think Icloud is a great idea but execution *****.

The songs listed in your iTunes library as "iCloud" probably refer to songs in "iTunes in the Cloud", meaning they can be re-downloaded from the iTunes store from the Purchased list on your phone.  They are not in your personal iCloud account and do not automatically sync to your phone using iCloud.
If you want to download this music to your phone, open the iTunes app, tap More at the bottom, tap Purchased, tap Music, tap Not on This iPhone at the top, then tap the download symbol (cloud with downward facing arrow).
If you don't want to see the "Cloud" designated music in your iTuens library, you can turn this off by going to iTuens Preferences>Store and unchecking "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases".

  • ITunes slow, won't play selected song, keeps playing same music video no matter what song I click!

I have an iTunes library of roughly 5000 songs, I just migrated my library from one hardrive to another (same computer though). Everything was working and playing fine, but now every time I click a song to play, I have to click it multiple times, then it freezes up for s second, then it plays the same music video (The Ghost of Tom Joad, Tom Morello and Bruce Springsteen), for EVERY song I click it plays this video.....my itunes media folder is in the right spot, and all the content is there. I cannot figure out what to do (and I usually can troubleshoot anything). Any ideas? I'm thinking it might be moving my library from my C drive that my OS is installed on onto another HDD (even though everything is there). Running windows 7

  • 3rd gen iPod touch, iOS 5.1.1.  Purchased music appears to be on device, cannot be played, cannot be deleted.  Not sure what I did.

3rd generation iPod touch with iOS 5.1.1.  This is now my daughter's iPod and apparently it had been set up to automatically sync new purchases, but the iTunes store and Match were turned off, so when I removed restrictions tonight to update some apps and reconfigure some stuff, a bunch of albums purchased in the last few months tried to syncrhonize to the device.  Somehow I eneded up removing the download option yet the album titles and songs appear in the music app.  How can I remove these "files"?  According to iTunes, they aren't on the device.  They do not play.  There are no pending downloads in iTunes store.
I am hopeful there is a solution short of restoring the device.  Since it's my daughter's iPod now (handed down) and she has her games with progress saved, any restore will erase her progress.
    Thanks in advance.

  • I can't sync music or manually add after updating to iOs 8.0.2

I tried to add new songs to my iPod 5th gen earlier and it gets stuck on "Preparing to Update" or some other step. I did a restore and it did add some songs but only half of my iTunes. It shows up on my iPod but with an icon next to it (square with circle around) but actually song is not there. Have done a restore multiple times over but nothing. Not sure if this is part of the iOS upgrade issues. Apple really needs to get it together as I didn't pay to have an iPod I can't even use!

  • IPod Touch music vanished

I have an iPod Touch which I've used reliably for the last three or four years. I was using it four hours prior to writing this post, in fact. When I got home, I plugged it into my computer so I could start listening to music from my iPod Touch and my computer hung up inexplicably and I had to hard-reset it.
Here's where the problem occurred. I booted my computer back up, and started iTunes to resume listening to music from my iPod. I double-click on a song, and a circle with an exclamation point pops up next to the song. This happens 3 or 4 times and I assume it's iTunes acting up so I do a search online and find people talking about a "glitch" where iPods are forgetting music. At first I didn't think this was me, because I had JUST been listening to music off my iPod on the bus back from work not an hour before this. However, when I tried going onto my iPod to see my music, at FIRST my music was starting at one song, and then frantically skipping through. 1, 7, 15, 29, 53, 109... etc. All the way to the last song, and then repeating the process. I turned my iPod Touch off, unplugged my USB cable, closed iTunes. When I turned my iPod back on, it didn't have a single song on it.
The weird part is that if I connect my iPod to my computer (which I just uninstalled and re-installed iTunes just to be sure it wasn't an iTunes issue), iTunes can see all of my music on my iPod. Every single song, all of the data whether it's the play count or the rating or the date added / modified. iTunes can see and show all of it. However both my iPod AND my Computer (meaning if I look at my iPod as a disk drive in My Computer) say that it's practically empty.
I don't know what to do. I refuse to pay $35.00 to request a "support ticket" because an automated service told me that my serial number is not covered for support, and I find it appalling that there is no email service to contact Apple's Customer Support. I do not have access to a great deal of the music on my iPod as I manually manage all of my music and some of it has been acquired through friends I no longer communicate with, so I am reaching out to anybody on here, whether it's a legitimate Apple Employee or a very knowledgeable hero, so that I don't lose 30GB of music to a spontaneous glitch.

Assuming the songs play OK in iTunes on the computer:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music. This delete only apples to iOS 7 and maybe 6 and later so it may not be applicable to your iPod.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
