Music tempo too fast in Itunes

Hello
Just re-transfered all songs from backed up image to new hd
all the songs are there in Itunes but the tempo is too fast when you listne to them!
Any way to solve this?
Re-installing?
thanks

Have you tried the following article which covers problems with playback speed:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610
Of course, if you are using WIndows 2000 you can't update to the latest version of iTunes - this is the latest version that will work:

  • Music plays too fast-help!

I have downloaded itunes to my Compaq laptop and all music plays too fast. I don't think it's an itunes problem, i think it's something i need to adjust on the laptop, but I can't figure out what to adjust. Any thoughts?

Hi- thanks for the direction.. unfortunatey, same problem but no answers there on that link that I could see.. Also, i'm not recording my voice but am plugging in MP3 songs. Any other ideas?

  • Bounced tracks play too fast in iTunes

This is a continuation of an old thread that was never resolved:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=853393
Basically, nothing has changed. I can bounce my tracks from Logic, and they play fine everywhere except iTunes, where they play too fast. I can play them on my iPod in the car and everything works at normal speed.
All my iTunes tracks (including the ones bounced from Logic) share the following characteristics:
    192 kbps
    44.1 kHz
    Profile: Low Complexity
However, the Logic tracks play fast, whereas everything else plays normally.
    I have a standard G5 sound card, not a 3rd party one.
I'm about to conclude that this is a standard limitation with Logic, that tracks created there cannot be listened to at regular speed in iTunes. Is that a known issue? Is this limitation by design?

Sorry for the slow reply. Yes, that is the problem I'm having, and it's so weird, I thought maybe there was some wacky glitch in the program. Logic is not without its bizarre idiosyncrasies, as you've probably noticed yourself.
Check this out for bizarre: I've bounced these tunes down to my iPod, where I can listen to them over headphones, in my car, etc, with the tracks playing at the right speed. However, if I plug that same ipod into my home stereo in the living room (where the laptop is also plugged in), and play those same tracks, they play too fast. I know, it doesn't make sense. But I'm not imagining it. It's completely crazy.
In Audio Midi Setup my audio output is set for 44.1khz.
Anyhow, the problem is less consistent these days. That is, sometimes I can bounce a track down and it plays right. Othertimes, not. I still haven't found the common denominator to this problem, but if I discover anything, I'll post it here.

  • Music playback, too fast/High Pitched

Seems i always find the bugs no one can solve.
Im running itunes 7.1.1 or whatever the latest update is on a G5, osx4.9.
I was happily modelling in Cinema4D when i heard a next song come on souding a bit faster than normal. Didnt think of much it..didnt beleive my ears. Turned it up louder, hey, the pitch is higher. bout a 4th higher.
Tried all my other songs, tried deleting plists. Nothing. Even better when songs start they crackle
Any suggestions? i know this is all too common on windows.
    thanks in advance.

I've checked all the samples used in the session already and they're
ID'ed as 48k.  When in the multitrack session, it's also suggesting
playback is at 48k.  Do you think I should try and resample all the
files to 44.1?  I'm scared to do this, as I tried to do this with a wave
file I didn't need, and CS5.5 didn't allow me to undo it!
You can just restamp the header without resampling.   This won't degrade the audio as it doesn't modify any of the headers.   Take one of the files and use the Edit > Interpret Sample Rate command on it:
However you can actually batch this operation on all of the files by recording a Favorite.
If all the clips in the session start at the exact same location, you can cheat the session as well be simply changing the header in the SESX file (using a text editor) as well.  However, if you already have automation, or multiple clips starting in different locations, this gets a little harder.  But if say, everything started at the very beginning of the session, it should be easy to change this attribute in the SESX:
I found one other incongruency which may help with a solution.  The wave files are 24 bit but the multitrack session is set to 32 bit mixing: would this affect playback?
No this won't make a difference and is actually by design.  Since you recorded the files directly to disk in the multitrack, there's no reason to store them in a file with a higher bit depth than 24-bits because your sound card won't _actually_ be able to produce data at a resolution (at or) higher than 24-bits.

  • Music plays too fast

I was listening to music on my Blackberry, and leant on it. Somehow, I managed to make the music fastforward so that four seconds of the song is played in one actual second. I've tried everything to stop this, I've stopped the song, played other songs, turned the phone on and off again, and yet the same thing happens.
If anyone could help me, that would be fantastic because I really can't do without my music and I use my blackberry as an ipod, so I have no other alternative.

  • [SOLVED] music too fast through maudio 24/96, but normal through HDMI

    Hi,
I have a weird issue on my media center. It's a headless system running kodi, nfs and subsonic.  Music plays too fast through the soundcard. It's gaining 4 seconds on every minute. Sound via HDMI is fine. It's happening with any soundsource (subsonic, kodi, mp3, flac)
I am running out of ideas where to look. Any input?

I did not, but now that you say it... And that's exactly what happened. Somehow it got reset to 48000.
Thanks a lot! Sometimes things are so easy :-)

  • Ipod plays music too fast

I just don't understand, it seems that my nano plays the music way too fast. When I play the same music on the i-tunes it sounds fine, but on the ipod, the voices of the singers are really altered. What do I do about this?

I've got the same problem too 2 days ago. Before going to sleep I wanted to listen to some music, but then I realized that my iPod nano 2nd generation was playing the music too fast, no matter which song. I can't really tell what speed it was playing at, but I'd say something between 1.025x to 1.050x. It might not appear that much, but try it with a program such as WMP and you will see a difference. The difference is subtle at first but evident when you the know the songs. So when that happened I was like "W-T-F" and then I restarted the iPod using the Menu+Center combination. I was wishing for it to play OK and then I tried a few songs and it was still going fast forward!!! At that point I was like ?%#!!?#@$$# and I turned it off. The next morning I took it with me to school and everything played fined. I am still mad cause even tough it works right now I have not found the cause nor the solution to that problem and I'm scared it's going to do it again.

  • Itunes 9 plays music too fast

The music files I loaded onto my MAC are playing too fast. I have not had this problem before. System software and Itunes are all up to date. Any suggestions?

A very strange problem indeed. I have not encountered this, and I have no idea if this will help you for sure, but Quicktime has a feature to playback music in a faster speed. It's a Quicktime menu option called "Show A/V Controls" under the "Window" menu (on the PC). The bottom right of the window that pops-up from that has "Playback speed" and if you drag that to "1x", that might help. It's the only thing I can think of. iTunes uses Quicktime components quite a bit. Do the songs play fast on your iPod?

  • Itunes reproducing music too fast

I just bought a new pc with vista. My music is on a hdd. It was working fine on my old computer but now the audio plays too fast. Is there a quick fix?

Hmm... and you're positive you've checked with eMachines to make sure you have the latest firmware/drivers available for your sound card? I've had a few issues on an older eMachines desktop PC regarding the sound card and iTunes. Lots of driver reinstallations.

  • Music/audio plays too fast

using a new laptop (this compaq) and installed itunes. All music/audio, whether from a CD, or itunes or the audio from a website, plays too fast. I've tried lots of things -found a page in the support section (tried all except the driver thing) -- ANY THOUGHTS?? THis is driving me crazy and can't do anything w/ my ipod except listen to what's already on there!

You may want to check your soundcard output in QuickTime. See this post for directions on the process: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa;jsessionid=aXxb7IZbMDPmI_4E?messageID=814726&ft=y&#814726
And this Article: iTunes and QuickTime for Windows: Songs and other audio don't play correctly
And before you do any of the above, make sure that you have all the recent Windows Updates from windowsupdate.com. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your particular sound card, and make sure you have the latest DirectX installed. Any of these could also cause this problem without QuickTime being the culprit.

  • So I keep trying to sync music to my iPhone from iTunes, and whenever I select the album the sync goes by really fast and nothing goes onto my phone. Then when I click "On this iPhone" it shows the songs, but they're grey, and I can't click on them. Help?

Ok, sorry. And yes, I just restored my iPhone as new and tried to put all the songs on there before I even restored with my previous backup, but it still does the same thing... even when I just checked the option to sync only "selected music or videos". How's that possible?
P.S. After I tried syncing with checked songs only, nothing showed up under Music on my phone and this message popped up in iTunes: "The iPhone "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish." If you could, please tell me what that means, thanks.

  • Can't burn disc via iTunes. Burn speed too fast. AGAIN!

"iTunes can't burn this CD because the burn speed is too fast for your CD burner or media. Choose a lower speed in the burning pane of iTunes Preferences then try burning again".
I have been having on going problems burning CD’s in iTunes for YEARS, and I know I am not the only one. I get the error message above. Having checked the forum at the time, and posted for help, I am know there is no real solution except to change brand of disc.
Thing is, now I can’t get ANY brands to work. I’ve been through Verbatim, Maxell, JVC, Sony, but none work. The only brand that would work were TDK audios which I can no longer find anywhere.
I know its not the burner, as Toast works fine, and I know I am not alone. Anyone got any ideas?
Even after years Apple seem to be blanking this question. It’s very frustrating not being able to burn my purchased itunes downloads to disc.

To anyone who is interested I think I may have found a possible solution. When you put a blank disc in the drive, wait about 30-60 seconds or so for it to stop spinning before burning.
This seems to work. It's a bit sticky but eventually works. I tried both TDK & Maxwell discs and 9 out of 11 worked. Absolutely no reason why the other 2 didn't, but it's a lot better than none.

  • ITunes CD Burn error (media too fast)??

I upgraded to the latest iTunes version and now Im getting errors when I try to burn a playlist. I havent burned a cd off this computer in a long time, so Im not sure if it's iTunes. However, the error, if I remember correctly, said iTunes is unable to burn the playlist because the requested speed is too fast for the burner or the media.
I tried slowing my burning speed to 8X, but it still gave me the error.
Any suggestions? Is it time for a new drive? If so, what are my options? I have the blue CRT (500mhz) iMac.
    Thanks

Since my original post, I have been able to burn a cd, but still most of the time get the error. Why would it work sometimes, and not other times?
Im guessing the drive is going. Can it be replaced? Are there upgrades available for the CRT iMacs ?

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
    How to reset iPod
Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • Itunes can't burn this cd because the burn speed is too fast for your cd...

For the first time since upgrading to 10.3.9 I'm trying to burn a data disc from iTunes to backup some files. It fails every time and ruins the blank CD. This is getting expensive!
The CDs are Phillips CD-R 52x. (Yes, I've used blanks from this very box before the 10.3.9 upgrade and it never failed before.) iTunes was set to 24x burn then changed to "maximum possible" for the burn speed.
Most times it looks like it's burning the playlist but around the 5th file it spits it out and gives the error "itunes can't burn this cd because the burn speed is too fast for your cd burner or media". Sometims it just locks up itunes with "checking media" and I have to force quit iTunes. Then the disc is ruined. It won't even show up in Finder.
Ugh. Anyone know how to fix this?
