Music to Fit in Keynote?

I am creating a slideshow and am using KN. I chose KN instead of an iPhoto slideshow as I needed to put words along w/ the photo's. I also have it set to music. Two questions: is this really the best way for me to do this - my MBPro will be hooked up to a projector where the project will be projected onto a screen.
Second, I created the project on my iMac Intel and need to get it into the MBPro...it is 21MB. Best way to do this?
Third, is there a way to make the slideshow fit to the duration of the music?
Thanks in advance! Karen

Keynote is a better option that iPhoto for this, yes.

A thumb drive, or burn a CD if you're not going to ever need to make changes to it.

I haven't done this, so that part I can't answer.

  • Make music to fit

Hello, I have a music peace for my automatically running and looping presentation – but music is longer than the presentation and runs on, when nothing more is to be seen.
    Now:
How can I shorten the music track (an where is it) in Keynote?
    Or:
How can I find out the duration of the presentation to make music the same length?
    Thanks for help!

Input the music in to Garage Band and shorten it to fit the length of the presentation. This will also allow you to pick a start point for the music. In other words, maybe you don't want the very beginning of the song because it starts off too quiet. You'll be able to start the music at the exact point where you want it. You'll also be able to control the volume. If you want it to start off soft, pick up volume in the middle, and end soft, you can do that, too.
    I hope this helps!

  • Slideshow music to 'fit' to slideshow duration in iMovie

    Hello all,
I am an Apple convert, and recently bought a new 24" iMac with iLife 08.
I have had problems with iDVD photo slideshows, where the music 'jumps' throughout slideshows. So I've started using iMovie for slideshows instead.
However, I can't seem to find a way to make the music 'fit' to the slideshow duration...are there any tricks for this? or would iMovie 6 HD do a better job?
I hope you someone can provide some suggestions. Thank you.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
One of the features of im08 over other editing software is that it should do exactly what you are looking to do by you simply dropping music into the background. It should then trim the music to the length of the video and auto fade it as the video comes to an end.
Can you tell us exactly what it isn't doing for you.

  • How to get music to play in Keynote?

I want music to play in my show, but I have a movie playing on slide 2. Is there anyway to start it on slide 3. I found one way but it stops after I move slides? Thanks

The way to do this is:
Split your presentation into two files. The first contains slides 1 & 2 (including the movie), the second file contains all the rest. Place the music you wish to start on slide 3 on the first slide of the second file using the Document > Audio Inspector > Soundtrack Well.
Place an object (shape) on the slide with the movie and with it selected, assign it a hyperlink. Hyperlink Inspector > Enable Hyperlink (checked) > Select the second file (Hyperlink Select > Pulldown > select your 2nd file)
Note: to move to the linked file you need to be able to click on the object, but you can make it "invisible" by assigning no fill/no border - just remember where the object lies so you can click on it.
When setting up your presentation, open both files in the background before you start playing, that way the presentation links properly to the second file.
    Good Luck.

  • Auto sync and more music that fits questions...

OK I have about 120 GB of music in iTunes via my Mac and an external HD. IF I want to sync up to a 60GB iPod on auto rather than manual, will it load up the iPod in order, say alpha until the iPod is full ( so maybe it stops at the letter N for instance) OR will it "sample" from the entire iTunes library so I may get partial artists or albums-sort of a random sync load???

You will get a message that the iPod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs. Your iPod will not be updated.
If you want to fill up your iPod, create a smart playlist that meets your wishes and check:
'Limit to - 60 GB - selected by random (or another choice)
You may have to lower the figure '60' and leave 1 or 2 GB 'spare'.
    Hope this helps.

  • Music of imported pps files doesn't sound on Keynote

I got Keynote on my Ipad, and when I import pps files, its music doesn't sound. It's very strange because the same file, I open it in powerpoint in my mac and it works fine, the musics perfect. So what's the problem? Can i do something on my mac to get this pps file to work with music on my iPad keynote?
    thank you

How could I NOT import them? Appointments I do "by hand" show up immediately on the other devices. The imported appointments show up after modification.

  • Why can't I fit 730mb of music on a CD?

Everytime I create a playlist, and try to burn it, even when it says it's only 350mb of music, it won't fit on one CD. How do you know how much music will fit on one CD? it seems random, and I constantly have to delete tracks from my playlists. It's very frustrating, can anyone explain?

What file types are you trying to burn and in what format: Audio CD, mp3 cd, data disc. Screen shot if from iTunes Help Menu using the search criterea "Burn CDs and DVDs"

  • Keynote vs Powerpoint file size

I received a .pps presentation which weighed in at 84k. I opened it in Keynote & saved it as such. The keynote file size is 264k. Could this be due to Keynote's antialiasing? 84 vs 264k is no big deal but I've also noticed this with multi-megabyte presentations.
BTW I'm posting this in the Keynote 8 dicussion & I'm running 3.02. If I've posted in the wrong area, my apologies.

Thanks Kyn, The pps which came in opened with Keynote. (This is normally the case with pps unless I open Power Point first, or request it with the Ctrl key)
The picture quality was clear but not sharp in resolution. ok for its purpose, flowers and countryside, and measuring approx 18cm by 14cm. (no music although it requested sound switched ON)
Since my first note, I remembered that I had taken my pictures straight from iPhoto, so they were in original format of around 1.4 to 2.2mb each which accounts for the size (and excellent resolution) so I tried making a medium quality selecton within iphoto to Mail.
This worked ok and I found when I dragged he pictures from Mail into Keynote I could 'adjust' the picture quality , however, next problem was the frame of Keynote was much larger than the slide which was now approx 13 x 9cms, which was acceptable for my purpose.
Haven't found out yet how to fit the keynote window to the picture. The Inspector not very helpful.
Am sure there must be a neater way of doing this than via iPhoto, and there must be a simple click somewhere to match picture with frame

  • All music on ipod Deleted?!?!?!?!

I've only had this thing for 3 months and i puged it in just a few hours ago to add a playlist and then it said"not all music will fit" and then it made a playlist to fit most of the music. But the music it put on there i didn't want all of it so i deleted the playlist to make a new one and now it says "Songs on the ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist"
So what i did was i went to the MUSIC tab and checked the box that said Sync all songs and playlists after i deleted about 20 of my songs. AND it won't work still! I tried to reset it but that didn't work. PLEASE HELP!

  • I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded?

I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded? The online information suggests all my music will be replaced. Will I have to download it again??

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an iTunes "account."  The account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use to sign in to the iTunes Store and make purchases.  It is also used with iCloud.  iPods (that are not iPod touch) are associated with your iTunes library, not to your Apple ID.
So, I think you probably just need to set up (or update) automatic syncing for the iPod.  If it's not set up to sync those new songs, iTunes still syncs the iPod, but it syncs nothing
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the iPod appears under DEVICES, when it is connected.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music (if it's not already checked).  If your iTunes music library fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  On the lists below, checkmark the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.
One convenient way to set this up (if you can't sync the entire iTunes music library) is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  Name it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  Put ALL songs that you want on the iPod on this playlist, including those new songs.  Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select this playlist under Playlists.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

  • I recently bought a new computer, downloaded itunes and all my music from the cloud, made a few more purchases on itunes then plugged in my ipod and it wont sync. My ipod is already associated with my itunes account and the computer is authorised...

I have a new laptop which will not sync my ipod to it. I've registered the computer, this is the only ipod associated with this itunes account. It shows the syncing symbol on the laptop and on the ipod but then when i eject the ipod afterwards the new songs have not transfered or my playlists.

  • Itunes wont recognize itunes music folder

after restarting my computer the other day to finish a mcafee upgrade, i clicked the itunes to open and listen to my music and an error message appeared reading "The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for the folder is in the "My Music" folder. i recently upgraded to the latest version of itunes (7.02 or whatever it is) and suspect there may be a problem with the program that i cant solve. my music folder is located on an 80GB portable hard drive because all my music cant fit on the hard drive in the laptop, and before the upgrade to the new itunes it was working fine. i have tried re-downloading the installation software, uninstalling and re-installing itunes and quicktime, moving the "My Music" and "iTunes" folders back into "My Documents" on the laptop's hard drive, but nothing has worked. does anyone have any idea how to fix the problem without doing a system restore (because when i tried that i lost a good chunk of my mcafee security program)?

Open iTunes to Music view.  Then find the folder of songs and drag it into the open Music window.
(If you normally run iTunes in full screen mode, make it smaller so you can find the folder and do the drag.)

  • White Lines in Keynote 3

When I add a music file to a Keynote 3 presentation, white lines appear in the slide while in the play mode only. It also appears when making a DVD or Quicktime movie of the presentatiion.
The lines do not show up while working on the slides or when the presentation is exported to powerpoint.
    Any suggestions?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I wish I had a 10.3.9 machine to check, but, since your video card should definitely be up to the task, I think it's probably going to be that Keynote's having a unique problem with your setup. In Keynote, under the Keynote menu, choose "Provide User Feedback" and send your problem to Apple. It could be that it may not have been reported yet.
