Music transfer problem: iPod computer

I've got a song on my iPod nano I want to transfer to iTunes; but, drag-and-drop in iTunes won't work in the iTunes windows and I can't seem to locate the music files on my iPod to transfer them (There are Calendar, Contacts, Notes and Photos folders, but no Music folder). Am I overlooking something? Thanks for your help.

The music folder is hidden deliberately, and even if you could do it, the files names and organisation has been changed so it makes it difficult to find a particular song.
I take it as you want to transfer the track, you aren't doing on your machine you first synced it from. To do this, you'll have to run your iPod in manual sync mode otherwise the listing will be grayed out when you view it from iTunes, whether from your main machine, or any other machines you want to transfer to and from.

How can I transfer my music from one iPod to another new one?

You can't transfer from one iPod to another. If your songs are in iTunes connect your new iPod and it will update from there. When you are adding a second iPod for your own use, just connect it to your computer and it will update from your existing library. Depending on the size of your library and the type of iPod you choose you can have it update the whole library, selected playlists or you can manage it manually.

  • Music transfer from iPod to Laptop

I have an iPod that contains music from 2 different computers (including one Apple Notebook). Can I transfer all the songs from my iPod (including the music from my old computer) to my Apple Notebook?

I know you can transfer iTunes purchases from an iPod to a Library but not how to transfer songs from say CDs.
For purchases you go to Store ----> Authorize this computer---> and sign into you iTunes account and then right click or option click you iPod in iTunes and select Transfer Purchases. This will transfer all purchases for accounts authorized for that computer.
You can also download all purchased songs for one account form iTunes Store --->Home---> Purchased. And then login for another account if you have another and do the same thing. But make sure that the computer has been authorized for that account. You can authorize up to 5 computers per account. Hope this helps.
Mostly I don't reload CDs into new Library, if I want to listen to a song from a CD that is on my iPod but not my library I plug my iPod into the computer and play the song on the iPod in iTunes.

  • Music transfer problem - senuti

I had originally asked if anyone could help me with my ipod - it says it's playing but the song never starts. It seems others are having this problem too! In case it cannot be resolved I want to transfer all my music from my ipod to my mac itunes library (so if a new ipod is needed i can simply drag them in). One helpful person suggested Senuti, so i downloaded it and the songs seemed to copy to my Music folder without a hitch.
However, when I try to drag the files into iTunes, only some will work. A huge amount of my songs will not go back into my mac iTunes library! Can anyone advise me what to do? Should i try another programme?
I just want to make sure all my music can be transferred in one lump as many of my songs are split between computers! Should I re-run senuti? has anyone ever experienced this?
    Any help is MUCH appreciated!

thanks for the feedback! I'm new to all this, is this something i can download? where do i get it?

  • Ipod photo - serious music transfer probleme. i need help please

    hi there.
i have a problem that i cant resolve.
i search and ask on french forum, but nobody could help me.
actually, my ipod didnt want me to upload files over 6 minutes.
an error message box used to pop up on itunes each time the delay of about 6 minutes music transfering exceed.
    here is the msg box:
    http://fr.audiofanzine.com/img/membres/normal/6/9/69236.png
he told me that itunes couldnt read/write onm my ipod.
that's false cause he could upload <6 minutes music transfering time.
anyway i reeset my ipod, update it with ipod updater.
and the problem is still the same.
    i still get this message.
i tried with many kind of music, coming from diferent HD, but nothing to do.
i tried to find a help from apple, but this stupid website is made for you not to find a way to contact them.
if someone can help me, i would be glad...
    my ears need sounds...

If you have already done so, have a look at this Knowledge Base article: "-36 or "Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod
If you have no success there I would try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings so make sure you have all your songs backed up in iTunes. A fresh installation of the software should sort things out: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings

  • Nokia N8 music transfer problem

    Hi!
I bought yesterday Nokia N8 and I tried to start music player with some default music. But there was no default music in there...
Today, I've installed Ovi Suite and with Suite I send some music to N8 (USB connection, Ovi Suite type of connection) and Ovi Suite said it sends music to the device but N8 constantly show 'Transferring music' and I shut down it.
After reset I didn't see any music in N8 Music Player, but in Ovi Suite I saw some obviously default music and music that I've send (??) ... OK.... I decided to delete everything when I did it... then I saw music in the device in Music Player (one song Summertown) and I tried to delete it but it was mission impossible...
I tried to find it through Windows Explorer (Win 7) but I only found folders of my music... empty, but there's no Summertime song there....
Then I tried to connect to laptop in multimedia transfer mode (till then I was connected in Ovi Suite mode) and then I started to Ovi Suite but when I click on Music tab I got message in Ovi Suite:
    "Music initialization failed"
"Unable to initialize the music service on the device"
Please help me, how to move music to N8 in way that N8 recognized it? And how to remove that Summertime song??
Is only solution to reinstall Symbian?
Bye... I hope to hear someone soon!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thank you!
    It was helpful...
Main problem was that I didn't refresh my music collection on N8 .... I knew that I'm supposed to do that... but... I didn't see refresh button ...
Problem with constant transferring still remains in Ovi Suite mode, but I haven't that kind of problem in Mass Storage mode...
Maybe device should be more straightforward... For now it is complicated ...
Bye, thank you all for advices!

  • Nokia N95 music transfer problem

Ive already posted in a wrong section but...
How do i transfer music - because when i try to link it up with windows media player it says there is no space on my phone, while there is 900MB free still. I also tried linking it to Nokia Music Program, and that also said my phone had no memory - and i could not browse the phone to findwhich part where to save it.

To link it to WMP you need to select "Music Tranfer" as the USB mode.
You can also just use "File Tranfer" or "mass storage" USB mode to just copy files across from Windows directly into the Memory card.
Be advised Music can only be tranferred into a memory card not the phone memory.
640K Should be enough for everybody

  • Transfer music from my ipod to my new computer?

I have multiple ipods we are trying to connect to one account on itunes.   How do I now transfer the music on my ipod classic to the new computer.   The old computer is not available.   Data was lost.

If the old computer is not accessible and for some silly reason no backup exists, then there may be a problem.
IF all the media was purchased from iTunes, connect the iDevice to the new computer, select File > Transfer purchases.
Alternatively, if in the US, it is possible to re-download music purchases from iTunes via iCloud.
IF the media was not purchased from iTunes, do a google search for retrieving music from the iPod.
Once the library is restored, backup the computer!!!!!

  • How do I transfer music from my iPod to my computer which was not purchased on iTunes?

I just downloaded iTunes Match to my MacBook Air. Now, how do I transfer music from my iPod to my Mac which I did not purchase on iTunes? When I downloaded iTunes Match, it did its thing, but none of the music that I burned from CDs showed up on my Mac. Is there something else I should do? (I still have my old computer with my entire iTunes library on it, but I haven't used in in a while. Should I do something with that, as well?)
    Thanks!

True. My mistake. I didn't see it.

Also, true. In my haste I forget to put in the links that might have helped. Nobody is perfect:

Now, Michael Allbritton, why don’t you go back to staring at lines of code and playing Minecraft in your parents’ basement alone while snacking on cheese puffs and sipping Keystone Light, eh?
I'm actually currently serving in the Peace Corps in the Eastern European country of the Republic of Georgia, so I'm not always able to get back to posts as quickly as I would like. So I'm glad you were able to get it sorted out by searching the support communities. But as I tell my students (who are learning English as a second language) pronouncing and using words correctly is important to them being understood by native English speakers. The same goes for technology terms. If the correct terms aren't used (for example "import" and "rip") then misunderstandings can occur and it can take longer to get your problem solved.
