Music upload via iTunes is failing.

Hey guys. I have a bit of a problem lately.
Every time I try to sync music I have on my hard drive (downloaded via bandcamp, soundcloud etc) via iTunes, it puts the music I already have on my iPhone into "Other" section, thus removing it from my music app, but yet occupying space.
The only way I can sort this out is by reseting my iphone to defaults and then restoring, but ****, I sure as **** don't have time for that.
It only started last week, but not i happens on regular basis.
Anyone had a similar problem?

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up, after having this problem for a few days my iPod crashed and deleted ALL of music, videos and photos. Luckily I previously used 3rd party software to make a backup of my iPod contents so it didn't take to long to restore it.
I was wondering if anybody tried uninstalling iTunes and any other iTunes files left over? That seems to be my only way to fix things since iOS5. But I can see how that can be a problem if you store your music on iTunes.

The best guess is this crash is caused due to an issue with the PC.
Make sure your iPad is updated to the latest operating system: iOS 7.0.4 and make sure iTunes is updated to iTunes 11.
iTunes 11 is optimised for iOS 7, so if you have an iOS 7 device and non iTunes 11 computer, life would be hard.
Try to update iTunes to 11.1.3 from: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Even try uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing. iTunes will not lose any of your iTunes songs when your un-install it as iTunes stores every media item in a folder found in (or around): C:\Users\NAME\Music\iTunes
Obviously iTunes and iDevices work best using Mac iTunes however; iTunes 11 and iOS 7 iPad Mini should work fine.
In summary possible solutions:
1.       Update iPad Mini to iOS 7 or better (iOS 7.0.4)
2.       Update iTunes to iTunes 11.1.3
3.       Restart both PC and iPad
4.       Uninstall iTunes from PC

Hi Rufustank! It took my book 10 days so not too bad considering. I woke up on the10th day with an email from apple saying my book was now available to download! It really is amazing to see your own book there in the store!

Problem Editing/Deleting the Photos uploaded via iTunes

I uploaded some photos via iTunes to my iPad as well as my iPhone. I wanted to take advantage of the photo edito, the devices will not allow me to edit the original photo uploaded photo file. It is asking I do "Duplicate and edit" which will leave me with 2 photos of the picture (one edited and other original one) on the device! I can't delete the original photo from my iPad/iPhone using either devices. Only way I can get rid of it is by syncing it via iTunes. any suggestions?

That is how it works with photos placed on the phone via iTunes sync -- to remove them you sync again using the instructions in Sync photos to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in iTunes - Apple Support
Another option you may want to consider to move photos from a computer to an iPhone or iPad (if you don't want to use iCloud Photo Library) is a 3rd app such as http://www.photosync-app.com/

Does unmatched music uploaded to iTuned match count towards storage?

My apologies if this has been posted before.
When iTunes Match will be available, will any unmatched music that I upload to iTunes Match count towards the icloud storage limit?
I am receiving conflicting messages about this. Some people say there is only the 25,000 song limitation other say that unmatch music that will be uploaded count towards the 5GB storage.

iTunes Match does not take up any of your storage space: it's limited to 25,000 songs (in addition to any you purchased from the Store, because of course those are already on the server). PhotoStream doesn't take up any of your storage either, though it's limited to holding any one picture for 30 days.

Cd music uploaded from itunes to ipods

I am currently uploading my cds to itunes via my computer. I want to be able to import them to multiple ipods( shuffle and nano). Both my ipods and ipad are synced to this same computer. But only the items I purchased from itunes are being uploaded to my ipod shuffle. All songs, including uploaded CDs uploaded to ipad effortlessly.

Yes, you can drag and drop the files to your device, there isnt any reason you cant copy the mp3 files, the files are simply mp3 files and itunes just creates a database file that the iphones and ipod uses, if you plug a iphone in and unhide all files in windows explorer you will see that the mp3 files are on device hidden in folders. There isnt anything special about itunes files other than the DRM files are a little diffrent than windows files but still any mp3 convertor software can modify them..

How to know total number of songs in iCloud uploaded via iTunes match ?

First add iCloud status to song view - from main menu, select view, view options and tick iCloud status.
This will show matched, uploaded, purchased, ineligibl, remove or ineligible.
Now create a smart playlists using iCloud status as one of the criteria.

How to transfer my iPad 4 iOS 7 music files using iTunes and GoodReader (latest version) app to my Macbook Pro (Mid 2010)

The GoodReader user manual procedure allows me to transfer files from macbook to iPad but not the other way. I can see my iPad music files via iTunes on the MBP screen. However, I cannot select the music files for transfer to GoodReader, My Documents folder. Once they are in the Goodreader folder, then it is easy to transfer them to MBP.

I'm using the latest version of iTunes, also my MBPS is 10.6.8. My music files on my ipad are MPEG type and they should be compatible with iTunes and GoodReader. These files were already in my iPad before I installed GoodReader.
I want to move the files from my ipad to my MBPS. I previously thought that I am supposed to move these files myself to GoodReader documents folder by following some steps. But after reading the instructions for file transfer, I realized that the GR documents folder should show ALL the files on my iPad. While it shows a couple of documents that I downloaded after the GR was installed, it does NOT show the music files that were on iPad before. This is the problem.
I'm wondering if there is another way of getting these files to theMBP. These files should have a physical location on the iPad. Is it possible to access that location and move them from there? I tried to drag and drop these files from iTunes to a thumb drive in Finder but it did not work.

Is there a way to delete music from the iTunes library whilst keeping it on your iPhone/device?

I would like to keep my entire music library on my iPhone but not on my actual laptop.
Previously with my iPod classic, I could add music manually via iTunes and once it was on my iPod classic, then delete it off my laptop. I have tried to do the same with my iPhone but each time I try to unselect the "Sync music" box in the music section it tells me that it will delete all music off my iPhone if I continue.
Can anyone help?

You could also batch select the songs (works for songs in order, such as an album - click the first song you want deleted, hold down Shift, then click the last) and hit the Delete key on your keyboard. You can also choose multiple random songs by clicking one, holding Ctrl on your keyboard and clicking the others you want selected, then hitting the Delete key.

If you have not already reverted the look and feel to be like iTunes 10 then
View > Show Sidebar
View > Show Statusbar
click on the black arrow in the search box and untick Search Entire Library
Now you should be able to drag and drop onto your phone or use the sync pages

Does the iOS devices connect to other networks?
Does the iOS devices see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Since both iPhone and iPod stopped connecting I suspect a problem with your network.

ITunes Match fails to upload songs in Step 3

This is an update to my earlier post on this problem.
During Step 3, when iTunes Match is supposed to upload non-iTunes Store music and artwork, it fails for an unknown reason and repatedly attemps the process all over again. This continues until aborted by the user.
After several months of frustrated tinkering, one of the iTunes Senior Advisors, suggested a solution that did solve the probelm. The solution is to limit the upload speed of the router to something less than 3 Mbps. Apparently, with high speed uploads either the iTunes Match server or iTunes itself cannot cope with the data flow and the upload process crashes with no indication to the user. While this solved my problem and my approximately 1,500 songs eventually uploaded, it did take more than 10 hours. But its done and my compete library is now on iTunes Match.
I pointed out to Apple that this solution was, in my opinion, a serious flaw in the iTunes Match offering and that Apple needs to address the problem.
My ISP provider is Comcast and I typically get download speeds of 28 Mbps and upload speeds of 5 Mbps. Obviously the 5 Mbps is too fast for the iTunes Match ecosystem. I was able to adjust the upload speed by changing the QoS settings of my Linksys router and giving iTunes a priority over other apps.
Hopefully this post helps out others with the saem problem.

The -2114 error, typically occurs when trying to download / stream an uploaded Song file. The error tends to be intermittant and may simply indicate a failing server in the Apple infrastructure.
Local action, wait for a period and re-try - usually successful - once working, ensure you download and backup a secure local version - or simply restore a good version from existing local backup.
