Music video - matching video to audio

I'm new to FCE and I've just got a new Canon HG21 HDD camera. I'm trying to match some new live video footage to an existing music backing track.
I shot three versions of the video from different angles with the singer miming to the audio track and now I want to try to cut the three sequences together with the best lip-sync I can mangage. I have the original clean stereo audio on two FCE tracks and I can hear the music in the video clips so I can more or less sync the actual and thowaway video audio tracks.
My question is how best to tackle this? My instinct is to import the three video clips into three separate tracks, get them in sync with the real audio track, and then cross dissolve between the three tracks (using Opacity) and a fourth abstract animation track (to mask bad lip sync).
I haven't seen any tutorials that covers this. Any tips appreciated.

Yes sync up each track to the clean studio track
On that clean studio audio track place markers on it in regards to certain words in the song as reference points. You can place markers on your audio time line and put labels on them (ceratin words in the song for example)
Did the singer lip sync or voice sync, there is a difference. Always have them VOICE sync and sing out loud to the track. They tend to stay on sync by "voice" syncing.
Musicians tend to say that they will have no trouble singing along to their own song, but 50% of the time they do trip up on certain parts/aspects of the song
Also, create a sperate BIN in FCE for non singing items, cut away shots....
For example:
There head swinging or their feet or body movements. Those can be inserted almost anywhere and if you get in trouble with the singers lip snyc, you can stick in a cut away shot
FCE4 is great, there is so much you can do with it once you learn it. People tend to critisize it, but I know once you get to know it, there is so so so much you can do.
Also play around with the image filters in FCE for boosting color or hue or tint
I love working with it
Good luck

  • How to trim Music to match Video track

I recorded the video of a concert without audio with my camera and the sound I recorded with professionals mics. Now I want to add the sound to the video. The problem is, that I hardly can find the right position where the movie should start, when I trim the Music. The Music track is over an hour and when I move a little bit forward with the mouse the Video track begins too late and vice versa.
I noticed, that I can click and hold down the mouse on the Music track in the trimming window afar from the yellow borders and when I then move the mouse backwards the yellow border at the beginning of the track moves to the left. When I move forwards with the mouse the yellow border follows to the right until he reaches the old position. What for is this? Can I use this to position the Video track exactly on the Music track?
Is there a way to lock the pointer while trimming the music?
Can I cut the Music track in several pieces?

  • Software to match video with music tempo

Greetings, I am controlling video on projector screens for a concert. I want the video pace to match the audio pace. I was wondering if there is any software out there that could do this for me if I ran an audio signal into my mac.
thanks in advance for any help

    Hi.
Not sure, but I think the best software for this might be the stuff in between your ears. Just kidding....sort of.
It's not clear from your post if you hope to match video to specific musical beats, or if you have video that is connected with certain songs in the concert. Or perhaps, both conditions need to be met.
I am in a band, and am working on video that I am cutting to our pre-recorded versions of the songs we will do in concert After the video is done our band (it's actually a early music ensemble) will rehearse with it to get a feel for the pace. Am trying to include elements for adjusting in a live situation.
I have said nothing helpful for you, so will sign off now!
    Good luch with your project.

  • Audio doesn't match video because repeated half way through

    Hi guys,
I am currently editing videos from my Canon SLR with Adobe Premiere Elements (Windows).
In the same project, I have only uploaded videos taken the same day with the same equipment. I have been able to process them all normally apart from one. For some reason, when I play this file with a basic video player, everything works fine but when I import it in the Adobe software and play it either through the small window or in the timeline, I have the same problem:
Everything works fine (audio and video in sync), until it reaches a specific point (totally random as far as I can tell) when the video keeps going but suddenly the sound repeats itself from the beginning of the file (and the audio which would correspond to the video is replaced by it). For you to understand better the problem:
    Video:   ABCDEF
    Audio:   ABCABC
I have tried opening it in a different project and somehow it happens exactly at the same point.
I am totally clueless of what it comes from and getting really frustrated!
    Any idea?
    Cheers
    Babs

Hello, I'm new to using forums like this.  Is it appropriate for me to post that I'm having the same issue?  Also sounds similar to Audio doesn't match video because repeated half way through as well.
    My situation is:
    Win7 64-bit, i7 920, 2.67GHz, 8GB RAM
Multiple Nikon D7000 video clips I've taken play back fine except for the following clip.  In Windows Media Viewer, I have no problem, but in PE10, in the timeline editor, this clip repeats the audio from the beginning starting about 6 minutes into the video.  I have Quicktime version 7.7.5 installed which I noticed was mentioned as a possible culprit in the other thread.
I've been using my camera primarily for stills, but decided to have my mom tell her story before she wasn't able to.  I'm so frustrated with this problem because I know the audio is just fine since I can play it back synchronized throughout the entire clip in WMV.  I've tried cleaning out PE caches as best I can figure them out and created new projects without any better luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm open to getting a new version of PE or another program if I could believe that I wouldn't run into this issue again.  This seems like such a vanilla problem since all my other clips seem to be fine and this one does too on WMV.
Thanks for any help you can provide.  I don't really know where else to go to figure this out.
    Joel

  • Audio not matching video

    Hello-
I am shooting with a Canon XHA1 on 24p. I completed one project using Adobe Premiere Elements 7...no problem. However, I just shot another movie and I captured about 10 minutes worth of video. For about two minutes, the audio and video matched, but it progressively got worse. On my camera it is fine, but on the timeline and video playback the audio/video matchup is horrible (especially the last few minutes)
Any idea on what the culprit might be?
I dont want to have to manually go in and slice up my audio each time I edit something.

No, this was not in the patch. When you open a new file, on the bottom left of the screen that pops up to name your project, you can click on the project settings. It gives you a whole list of things and it's under the folder called HDV...24p is an option listed there. This is Adobe Premiere Elements 7 by the way.

  • I added background music to the video clip, but I only hear noise, no video clip audio or the background music audio

I added background music to the video clip in iMovie, the playback runs ok on the right corner preview screen, if I share it to movie clip or itunes or theather, I only hear noise, no video clip audio or the music audio
If I don't put additional audio to the clip. audio effect or music background, the video plays normally
I detached the audio from the video clip and deleted it, that way it was possible to listen to the music background and see the actual video clip, but no audio from the video clip.
    How can I have both?

    Hi
    My first thought is -
Where are the original Audio file ?
If it was on an Audio-CD then the CD is Ejected and one tries to play the movie - it can not find it = Silence.
You are using an Non-Destructive Video editor - meaning that You have raw material - Video, Audio and photos but no Movie in Project - only a text document directing How You want it to be played. So if Audio is not where it was when this document were created - iMovie can not find it and e.g. audio goes silent.
    Yours thinking - Bengt W

  • Music player will only play audio on Music Videos

I agree. On the iPhone (4) with iOS5 in the Video player you have a all your Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos and Podcasts that can be played individually, with no Shuffle option. If you use the Music Player you can you have all your music and you can Shuffle a Playlist, you can Shuffle an Artists, you can Shuffle an Album and you can Shuffle by Podcast album. Since the Music Player plays videos correctly this would seem to be the correct solution: use Music player instead of Video player.
Like the iPhone, on the iPad (1G) with iOS5 the Video player doesn't Shuffle, each video (Movie, TV Show, Music Video and Podcast) must be played individually. However, on the iPad, the Music player DOESN'T play Music Videos correctly (it tries, but repeated selecting the video image to bring the video to fore actually causes the Music player to crash). It plays the audio only and provides on a preview size snapshot from the video. So while you can start playing one video and selecting the Shuffle button on the right side of the Track Status and the song will play and will Shuffle when done, there is no actual VIDEO playing. Clearly the application is broken.

Actually there is no legit way at all to downgrade.
Restore wiil always restore to the latest available software.

  • Audio not matching with video in videos

Hello,I recently built a new computer. When I go to play iTunes files the audio is way off of the video. An example being, a guy shuts a door on video and 2 seconds later I hear it. I've tested and know it's not the GPU. Youtube and my other videos play perfectly. My system has a 3.2 GHz core i3, 8GB or RAM, and Radeon HD 5670... it can definitely play SD video! Videos are not enjoyable for viewing and I really need help. Thanks!

Yes. I solved it with the latest catalyst update from AMD. Try updating whatever GPU driver you have. Sorry it's been months since I looked on.

for some reason , when i restore my iphone 4s to factory settings my headphones work when listening to music or youtube videos but when i backup my information onto it , it only comes out of one ear bud and i just got a new one from the apple store. my old iphone 4s audio jack was messed up but i just got a new one with my warranty , can anyone help me please.

It doesn't matter what it is in your backup that's causing the problem because you can not selectively restore things from your backup. It's all or nothing.
Set you phone up as a new device and start over.

  • What high end A/V Receivers use iTunes to stream Music, Pictures and Videos to a TV ?

I'm going to be purchasing a high end a/v receiver and need one that uses iTunes to stream music, piuctures and videos to my TV. Any recommendations?

I don't believe there is a receiver that supports AirPlay of video and photos. Many will AirPlay audio however you'll probably have to use an Apple TV for photos and video.

  • IPod Video plays w/no audio

Recently i downloaded videos and saved them to my iTunes. once i converted the video and syced into my iPod, you could not hear the music of that video and not on the iTunes. But the original video did play with audio. How do i get the converted version of the video to play with audio in my iPod?

Try using MPEG Streamclip to convert the videos; more information on this issue is available in this article.

  • How come when I view flash videos my videos stop, but the audio plays  and I see rainbow colored lines up and down the video.

How come when I view flash videos my videos stop, but the audio plays  and I see rainbow colored lines up and down the video. I attached a image below.

ATR, just to make sure you understand me, all my video clips in my folders appear as the first frame of the video clip when I view my folders as (small, medium, large)icons instead of lists, when saved as .avi files but when saved as .mp4 files, those icons display as a graphic icon of filmstrip with a musical note on it. I do have various other methods to open with (quick time, windows media, winamp or real player) but prefer real player because I like it's quick and easy trimmer that comes along with it, since so many of my videos are just pet antics where you need to clip off the boring beginning and ends of the video.
I did go on a few of the icons and right clicked, Open With, and tried quick time and also Windows Media and it did nothing as far as how the file was saved for display, and they opened the same no matter which player I used...the actual video opens and plays right at it's first frame... but it's the way it is visually displayed in STORAGE that bugs me because it isn't immediately apparent to me what it is a video of (weddings, outside the house, pet antics)... it makes me have to actually title things and read titles where before I let it just be dates because I had the visual of that first frame as a reference. Obviously, this is a problem for unedited videos only, as anything I actually work with, I do give a title along with the date of the video.
I also just realized this seems to be the way ALL videos that are wrapped in .mp4 are displayed, as my bloggie camera's videos appear the same way. Now I know why! My other videos display as .avi's so I see the frame. Puzzle solved. Guess I'll just have to learn to live with it, as it seems to be how things display with the various formats.
Now I need to watch some tutorials to learn how this Premiere program works! It's all new to me, since this is the first time I've been able load any of my videos onto it. I haven't even been able to figure out how to trim on it yet!

  • Thumbnails do not match video content when imported

My thumbnails do not match video content when imported. They assume the look of the first video imported into an event, while showing correct source content when skimmed through. Also, audio for every video clip I import is changed to that of the first clip imported in an event. Very awful to realize only when you've just imported every video you've made. Any thoughts?
Also, my source for clips is an external OneTouch drive, don't know if that plays into the import problem.

Is your Event source list visible on the bottom left of your screen? You should see all your events there.
There is a button at the extreme lower left of the imovie window which allows you to show or hide the event list. Make sure that it is in show position, so you can navigate to your other events.

  • Adding music to a video

Does anyone know how to add music to a video recorded on the ipod? These are the directions as stated in the manual:
Adding Music to Your Recorded Videos
You can use QuickTime Player to add music to your recorded videos. Select a recorded video in iPhoto, and then click Edit at the bottom of the iPhoto window. The recorded video opens in QuickTime Player, where you can add a music track to your recorded video.
To learn how to add music to your recorded videos with QuickTime Player, choose Help > QuickTime Player Help, and see the instructions for extracting, adding, and moving tracks.
I can follow the steps up to clicking on edit but from there I don't anything that would allow me to do this. I also looked in QuickTime player help and just don't see how. I am running Snow Leopard which means the new version of QuickTime. I have tried opening in QT Pro as well but just don't see how to do it.
    Thanks for any anwers.
