Music Videos do not play in iTunes 11.1.4.62

Had to reinstall iTunes and now none of my videos play.
I do not know when it happened (at a certain iTunes upgrade or not) as i don't play the videos that much.
I have switch video settings to SAFE MODE in Quicktime, as the various different topics here say to do, no avail. The thumbnails of the videos appear in iTunes, they simply do not play. Black screen only and the progress bar doesn't PLAY. you can slide it, but no picture or sound. All files are .m4v.
Windows Vista.
I know the files work, as they play in regular Quicktime.
Any idea?

Regular playlists vs smart playlist does not make a difference. What I noticed is that some videos create this behavior and some not. I created 2 videos and 2 music playlists, one with 2 songs and 2 videos (that I encoded myself with Handbrake). Another list with 2 videos and 2 songs, videos encoded with Handbrake, but that I noticed they triggered the behavior. The first playlist played fine, with no problems. The second one, created the problem. When I look at the video, it is the same type of video (bit rate, audio channels, etc...) I don't see why it would do that.
Later I will test: playing those videos in question and then selecting songs to see if they play.

DustinMedlam, I have the same exact problem. I started using my Iphone 4S for shooting video about 2 months ago and tranferred them to my Windows machine with Windows 7. I use the clips in Sony Vegas pro 11 and make short movies. I upgraded to ios 6 last week and every video that I shoot with my iphone 4S now is not usable in Quictime or Sony Vegas???? My old videos from before ios 6 play just fine and I can use them in Sony Vegas with no problems. The only way to play the files is with Windows media player. this does me no good as I just began making short films and now I can not use any of the video I have shot since ios 6. I also have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I shoot video with it and use the clips in Sony Vegas with no issues!?? I can not believe this is not BLOWING up on the internet like the WIFI issue is..... What do we do? All my video gear is for my Iphone not my galaxy S2. This is very annoying. I also notice that no one from Apple response to these support forums. So why are they available?? What a JOKE!

How do I get Music Video's to play in iTunes on iPad Mini with Shuffle option on Playlists (it's only playing the music not video's)?

Hi. I have got Music Video's on iPad Mini on a Playlist on iTunes. When I use 'shuffle' option the audio of the track is heard but no video is played (only a 'still' from the video). When using the Video option on the desktop, plays videos but does not allow you to 'playlist' them or shuffle them. I can shuffle Music Video playlist on iPhone and on PC. So why not on iPad Mini. Can someone help? Thanks

There does not appear to ba a facilty for this on the iPad. However there are a number of apps that will allow you to create and play video playlists. Try VP Lite which is free.

My itune music videos will not play through my soundlink air

Why do my itune music videos not play through my Bose Soundlink Air? My downloaded music plays fine. Also my music videos play through my iTouch its just through my Mac computer they won't.

Ok, i know this sound desperate, but technically it is. I have to know the entire dance section of "Thriller" by Michael Jackson by Monday. So i bought the music video and it works just fine on iTunes, but when i play it on my iPod, it goes to the black "Video" screen for about 15 seconds and then goes bak to the menu. I open the video through the video menu, it is set to "Off" on TV Out, the TV signal is NTSC, and the widescreen is off. I've tried reseting it and it still does not work.
Im sorry if i gave you too much info, i just want to give all the facts so you have something to work with.

Video files not playing in iTunes

In iTunes on OS Lion on an iMac, I started getting an error message that the "video needs QuickTIme and it is no longer supported by iTunes." What gives? The files are m4v and won't play even 5 minutes after I download them.
If I download them to my MacBook then access them through the shared media, they will play and become part of the library on the iMac. Seems like a lot of bother just to watch a video.
Anyone have a clue about what's going on?

Did as I was instructed, and it seems to work ok now; HOWEVER, when I first got the iMac about four weeks ago, everything worked perfectly after ai set it up and migrated everything from my Mini. I had a system crash on 2 desktops, and had to restore both of them. The Mac mini is just as good as it was before, and the iMac is still a bit schizophrenic. The iTunes thing was one of the delusions.
I read about 32- and 64-bit, but still don't know about the resulting effect and whether it means under-utilizing the iMac.

Movies and video will not play on iTunes

For the last two weeks none of my videos in my iTunes library will play; neither TV shows, movies purchased from the iTunes store, or my own vidoes added to my library. Not sure what to do.
Videos play fine on my iPad, but through iTunes on my PC, nothing. iTunes just freezes up to the point where I have to "end-task" the operation through my Task Manager.

There are many posts on this topic. I stumbled across the answer in a desperate bit of Googling outside apple.com last night. The problem lies in the user interface design for iTunes, and deleting prefs doesn't fix it. The menu bar view->video size options for display size when not in full screen have NO EFFECT on the display size when full screen (command-F) is toggled on. When full screen is on, the viewing size is controlled by RIGHT CLICKING anywhere in the play control box that appears when you move the mouse. The menu you get looks like the menu bar version, but only affects full screen operation. I think this is horrendously bad UI design. If it is useful to have separate settings for display size for full and normal screen view, then BOTH sets of settings should be available in the menu bar version of this menu, and tricky crap like a properties menu attached to a disappearing control box during full screen play should have a stake driven through its little black heart.
iTunes help is silent on the topic. Why anyone would expect to find a right-click menu expanding from a disappearing control box is beyond me. Are there any examples where this idea is used elsewhere and turned out to be a good idea? Where its use is so clear that anyone could find it and no documentation is needed? The number of posts about this problem, not to mention other aspects of full screen play, such as an option to blank or not blank a second screen, or not have the movie and the iTunes mini-player jump all over the place when the zoom button is clicked, suggest that this is an area that is overdue for a human guidelines design review. The movie control box is not a media object, and there is no reason to expect that a vanishing control box would have properties that can be modified. It requires blind luck to find this command, and that isn't very Apple.

NPR Music videos will not play.

None of the videos on NPR music will play. They play on IE and Chrome. I have updated flash and downloaded Real Player.

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.
In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:

Videos will not play in presentation mode. They play fine when I preview them in Keynote but once I am presenting it trys to play and then skips the slide.

Some videos will not play in the Public site

For some reason, I have quite a few videos that do not play in the public site while other videos play just fine. When selecting a video, the player opens but the video never starts.
Any ideas?

You are playing them in the Videos app correct? Music Videos will play the video in the videos app, not in the Music app.

Purchased videos not playing in iTunes

Hello, recently my purchased TV shows are not playing in iTunes. Video window comes up, and the play time increases, but there is no video or sound.
If I go into "C:\Users\Derek\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\TV Shows\" and open the m4v file in QuickTime the videos play just fine. (they just refuse to play in iTunes)
Any ideas?
PS: I'm on latest version of both iTunes and QT (just checked).
