Music with Slideshow

Can I use more than one song on my slideshow? I want to use several songs, but can't figure out how to choose more than one. Thanks!

Thanks for your advice; however, I am still confused. I have the slideshow all set up and it just keeps playing the first song over and over again, instead of going to the next two songs. I have created a playlist in iTunes, and I want to attach that playlist to the slide show. Thanks! I am a new Mac user, so I am still learning!

  • Problem playing selected music with slideshow

    Hi
I am having trouble playing music with slideshows since updating to iphoto 6. I can see all my playlists and I am able to select the playlist I want and this will play in the 'play music during slideshow' window. However, when I play the slideshow I receive an error message telling me that 'the music you have selected can't be found or can't be opened'.
This has only been a problem since updating and it doesn't matter what playlist I choose - they will all play in both iTunes and the selection screen for the slideshpw but not actually with the slideshow (the play music with slideshow box is ticked).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am about to throw my mac out the window.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What version of Quicktime are you running? You should be at 7.1.5. If not update to it and give it another try.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • I am losing music with slideshows in iPhoto.

After a recent automatic update (I think to the operating system), the iPhoto program began losing all music associated with slideshows, seemingly whenever the power was completely shut down.  I am using iPhoto 11, version 9.4.3.  After the power has been shut down, the music files previously associated with the slide shows are no longer associated.  I can see my iTunes library in the iPhoto program, but it will not let me add music, and gives me an error message something to the effect of, "...cannot be added because the original file cannot be located."  If I go into iTunes and create a new playlist, I can then again add music to the slide shows.
I did not have this problem prior to the recent updates.  Is there a way to maintain the link between the iPhoto slide show and the music even if the power is shut down?  It seemed to be able to do this prior to the recent updates.
Is there a way to save the entire slideshow to a file or DVD, so I can simply play it from a DVD or re-load it?
This seems to be an issue with the recent updates required by Apple.
    Thanks.

    1. As a former and current PC user, I have had several problems because I failed to update PC programs as recommended (security patches in Adobe Flash Player, etc.).  I assumed Apple was the same way; the programs would generally work better and be more secure if I installed the recommended updates that periodically arrived from Apple.  Perhaps I am mistaken and you could offer some better suggestions.
    2. I am using iPhoto '11, version 9.4.3.  It may not be the version I was using when I initially encountered the problem a few days ago.  When it happened, I checked the Ap store for recommended updates, and there was one for iPhoto, so I updated to see if that would fix the problem.  It does not seem to have fixed it.  I purchased this iMac as my first Apple system nearly two years ago, and have been using the software that came installed on it, altered only (as far as I know) by the recommended updates.  I generally really like it.  I am using Mac OS X version 10.7.5.  I don't know how to check to see if the iPhoto version is compatible with the OS X version
    3. The exact error message is, "The song "____" could not be used because the original file could not be located."
I have some slide shows on the iMac that we put to music out of iTunes and play on the iMac.  As long as the computer is put to sleep, and not shut down, the link to the music remains.  If the computer gets shut down, the iPhoto loses the link to music files.  When I open iPhoto, the slide show is there, but the music does not play with the photos.  When I open the music settings, I can open and see my iTunes library, but when I drag songs into the field for the slide show, it will not allow the songs to remain in the field.  I then double click again on the song I just tried to add to the slide show, and the error message above appears.
I went to the support page, and it suggested that I close iPhoto, go into iTunes, copy the iTunes Music Library.xml file to the desktop, go back into iTunes, create a new playlist, then open iPhoto and try again.  Going through this process seems to allow me to again add iTunes songs to the slideshow.  I just lose everything again whenever the power shuts down.  I thought saving the slideshow onto a DVD might work, but I have not figured out how to do that yet.  Is that a reasonable solution?  I could potentially save them to a DVD, flash drive, or the back-up Airport disk.  It appeared in the support community that people had difficulty with saving the format when the slideshow was saved directly from iPhoto, but that it worked better when first transferred to the video program (iMovie?).  I have never used the video program and don't know if I even have it.  I welcome any suggestions you may have.
    4. I have not noticed any other strange things with iPhoto.
    Thanks for your help,
    B

  • Music with slideshow continuously repeats

I have set up a slideshow on my iPod classic.  The pictures play as expected.  However, the music I have assigned to this slideshow does not stop when the pictures have finished but repeats over and over until I manually press stop.  How can I get the music to stop after once playing?  Thank you.

Not so far as I'm aware unfortunately.

  • Synch playlist with slideshow

Am trying to synch music with slideshow. Created a playlist in iTunes, edited start times to give only portion of each song. When playing playlist in iTunes works as expected, only designated portions of songs play. In iPhoto select the playlist, but entire songs play. How do I get the slide show to play partial songs?
Using iTunes 8 and iPhoto 6.
    - Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Those start and stop times in iTunes works only in iTunes. If you want to use only portions of a track use Garageband or an 3rd party audio editor like Amadeus Pro.
An alternative would be to export the iPhoto slideshow without music and import it into iMovie 6 where you can add the audio tracks, crop them, fade in and out and overlap if desired as see in this screenshot:
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Cannot select a music into slideshow and book slideshow presentations. In the older Mac this was easy. With new Mac OS X 10.6.8 it should work as I can stop the slideshow with cursor but pop up window for choosing music is dead. I cannot drag music into it. Preselected music just goes on.

I am talking about iPhoto. In my old Mac even in Books choosing slideshow gives a pop up where you can select a music from I tunes library. In this new one I can stop the slideshow with cursor and it shows music option but it is, as I said dead. Does not response at all to commands.

  • I cannot play music with my slideshows. I setup the music but it does not play, even with my older slideshows I hear no music.

This category is for iPod shuffle.  Is that the type of iPod you have, because your description of the problem does not sound like it's about a shuffle?  If it's not a shuffle, what is the iPod model...?
There is music there and I can play it connected to laptop.
Are you doing the playing using the iPod, or are you playing the music using iTunes on the laptop?
All mucis icons read "No music" and this is not correct
Do these icons with "No music" appear on the laptop's screen, or on the iPod's screen

  • Can't save "Play music during slideshow" setting in iPhoto 6

    Hi,
I just bought and installed iPhoto 6 today as an upgrade to iPhoto 4. I've discovered that I'm unable to save the "Play music during slideshow" setting in the dialog which appears when I click the "Play" button from the thumbnail screen to play a slideshow. If I uncheck this checkbox and then click on the "Save Settings" button, the next time I play a slideshow, the music starts up again. The most particularly annoying thing about this problem is that I'm trying to create a slideshow that plays no music, and I have to continually uncheck the "Play music during slideshow" checkbox each time I play the slideshow. Has anyone else run into this problem, and is there a solution or workaround for it?
    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi,
I think I've figured out what's going on here, but I don't know how to fix it. While I was playing around with the items in the "Play" dialog that appears when you initiate a slideshow, I discovered that if I uncheck the "Play music during slideshow" and then change the selection in the tree of folders underneath the checkbox, that the checkbox becomes selected. This would normally be the considerate thing to do, since if the user were making a selection in that tree, it would be rather "rude" in a software sense to not check the checkbox automatically. Unfortunately, in this case, the logic doesn't seem to be looking at the Preferences flag which (correctly, I think) is remembering that I don't want music to be played. So what I think is happening is when this dialog is first instantiated, the checkbox setting is remembered correctly. However, what happens next is that the saved selection in the folder tree is then restored, which then triggers the "a tree selection was just made, so let's check the checkbox" event. This is why if you've saved the "don't play music" setting, the checkbox is initially cleared, and then when the tree selection is set, the checkbox becomes checked. If I save the settings with the checkbox checked, the checkbox is set from the instant the dialog appears. So assuming that this is what's happening, is it possible to fix this by editing the NIB file using the Developer Tools? Or is this logic embedded in the compiled code?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • The music in slideshow quit working

We ran about three slidesshows with music and now it won't play the music with the slideshow

I have found that you need to convert your audio file to an .mp3 file and then it works perfectly.  You must do this from iTunes, as follows:
Select the song file you want to convert --
    Select Edit
    Preferences
Under the "General" tab, click on Import Settings
                   Select "import using mp3 Encoder
check the "use error correct . . "
Then you will have to import the song into Elements 11 and add it to the slideshow.

  • No music to slideshows

    Still no music on slideshows.
    YouTube and just music works.
Theese problems came up with iTunes 8 update. I tried to go back via TimeMachnine but
earlier verson could not read the library
    Hope Apple solve this quick.
Btw. Where can you report this bug to Apple or does they read this forum?

  • IPhoto 09.  I DON'T want music in slideshows

I recently had to get a new computer, and it came with the new version of iLife. My slideshows now all have music, whether I want them to or not. I've figured out how to make the ones I want to have music have the music I select, but can't seem to have them be silent. The "play music during slideshow" button is unchecked, but it still insists on playing music from the default list.
    How do I muzzle iPhoto?

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • Music with slide show

How do I get rid of the music with my slide show? I'm giving a slide presentation of my photos later today and when press play the photos come up with some funny music from somewhere.
    Thanks!

    PM
Click on the slideshow button. Then in the changed toolbar, click on Music. A sheet drops from the top of the screen. Uncheck 'Play Music During Slideshow'
