Music won't fit

I have about 300 songs on my 2Gb Nano, syncd from a playlist called "Paul's". I have another playlist that only has 17 songs, 3 to 6 minutes long. I try to sync this playlist as well and I keep getting a message that there is no room for the files. How is it that my main playlist of 312 songs can be 1.33 Gb, and the additional 17 songs have a file size of 672Mb?? Help!

What format are the songs you have imported? if your songs are encoded in an uncompressed format such as AIFF or WAV they'll much be larger than MP3 or AAC files and take up more space. Apple Lossless files are compressed but not to the same extent as MP3 or AAC so they will also be larger. Go to iTunes and right click on one of your songs, choose Get Info>Summary and look at "Kind" to see what format the file is in: iTunes: About import settings and hard disk space

Burn won't fit - is it minutes or MB's?

I'm getting the message that my songs won't fit on one CD. There are 55 songs (actually spoken word) 1.5 hours, 482 MB. The CD is 80 min, 700 MB. Is it the minutes or the MB that is important? 482 MB should fit easily.

Its where your burning an audio CD.
All your songs/books are in either MP3 or AAC both being compressed formats. When a program gets ready to burn an audio CD, it has to uncompress the song(s) and burn them in a uncompressed format so a regular CD player can read it.
So the 400 and something MB COMPRESSED files when uncompressed are MUCH larger. If you look at the blank CD or the case it came in, it will tell you how many minutes of music it can hold on average. I THINK most 700MB CDs hold 80min worth of audio

There's 90MB free on my Nano and iTunes says 15 pictures won't fit.

When is Apple going to fix this bug? I have 90MB free on my Nano and iTunes says it can't fit 15 pictures on it. If I remove all the songs and then add the pictures, they take up a WHOPPING 18k of space on the Nano. Why does iTunes think that 18 KILOBYTES won't fit into 90 MEGABYTES of space?

90MB free. I understand the 2GB doesn't equal 2GB thing.
iTunes reports 90MB free on the Nano. I can fill that space with MUSIC, and have done so all the way down to a mere 250-300k left empty. But iTunes can't seem to grasp that 20k of pictures will fit into 90MB of space.
It's a bug.

HT1386 Some of my music won't play on my iPhone

Shortly after upgrading to the latest OS (7.0.2), I've noticed some of my music won't play on my iPhone. I can see the songs but they have a red circle with a square inside it next to them and I can't do anything with them. I have plenty of space and there's not "downloading from the iCloud" option.
Problem 2...some other people are having this problem and recommend wiping the music off my phone and re-syncing via iTunes but when I plug my phone in (or sync via wi-fi, either one) to sync, it hangs up on "waiting for changes to apply" and never wipes the music. I've looked around at other complaints about this issue and none of the recommended "fixes" work.
I assume this is going to require an OS patch of some sort. What's the ETA on this and is there a way to get around it now?

My iPhone 5 running iOS 7 latest beta won't download apps. My phone worked just fine yesterday then today my apps won't download or update and my music won't download it stays in the "waiting" status and I've done hard reset logged in and out of my Apple ID and nothing changes.

No official way to fix this until the full version of iOS 7 is out in mid September, but for now the quick way to download and update is to do the following:
•Hold your finger on the icon of the app that is stuck on waiting, until wiggle mode is enabled, and remove the app
•Plug in your iOS device to iTunes and sync
•Reinstall the application from the App Store and installs and upgrades should work again
•If not, rinse and repeat this process

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :

2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

Have you checked if your Earphones are working?
Do you get the Music menu after the reset? (what is display on the Screen? song playing)
Normally if you Reset the iPod, it will turn the shuffle mode off, but do check under setting that shuffle mode is off.

Music won't download on all my devices via iCloud. Help?

Hi, I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4 and I depend a lot of iCloud. I would be lost without it. One annoying thing that is happening is that when I purchase music on my iPhone, it won't download automatically on my iPad. And the other way around. If I purchase music on my iPad it doesn't automatically download on my iPhone.
I have checked the setting in Settings>Store>Automatic downloads. On both devices, all 3 (music, apps, books) are all ON.
The feature works with books and apps. If I purchase an app or book on one device, it automatically appears on the other. It's just annoying that music won't download.
The apps and books even download on my PC when I open iTunes. But music never downloads. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Most likely those missing songs were purchased under a different account.

You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

Hello, I too had this same problem. I was very lazy about going through EACH song trying to select & fish for it in a folder (I have a lot of folders total of 1,979 songs). I called Apple & they told me to go to my iTunes go to FILE scroll down then ADD FOLDER.. Since everything was just out of place & didn't know where to even begin I basically deleted ALL songs from my LIBRARY & then added each folder. It literally took me less than 20 minutes. Dont worry if you have your songs labeled a certain way (Artist, name of song, genre in iTunes) everything will go back to normal. Hope this helps as it helped me! I put it aside for 2-3 years! Like I said, I bought one of their inexpensive enclosures and now can use the hard drive just as a source for the files that are on it...my external drives are much larger and faster so I just plug that drive in when I need something from it.
