Music won't play and sound won't work after installing ML

I installed mountain lion on my 3 year old mac book. now my music doesn't play on itunes. the pause button is visble but the music progress bar is not moving. there is no sound either. the horn in the sys bar on top is greyed out nor will the external speakers work on other sound makers like you tube, etc. any ideas? thanks

1. Open Activity Monitor.app (Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor.app)
2. Select ‘All Processes’ from the drop down menu next to the search bar (called ‘Filter:’) and type in ‘coreaudio’.
3. Select the process name and click the ‘Quit Process’ button at the top. Chose 'Quit' or 'Force Quit' from the resulting dialogue box.
Any improvement?

I also have the same problem, after 5 minutes I can't open or place anything in illustrator. I have this problem also in photoshop cc 2014. This started after installing Yosemite.
Tried to reinstall but nothing helps.
Today after updating creative cloud application it is even worse: illustrator is not opening anything: not even a new file. So I reinstalled... and I can open again for 5 minutes. But then it crashed while saving. Now I can't open illustrator at all...so nothing left to do then reinstalling again I suppose?

IMessage and push notifications not working after installing iOS 7!!

My iMessages and push notifications don't work after installing iOS7..!!! I can't even log in to iMessages using my Apple ID.. And every time I log into Facebook or whatsapp it keeps telling me to connect to iTunes to receive push notifications..!!
I connected to iTunes on my comp and tried resetting my phone.. Nothing works!! HELP

Its stuffed, iMessage and facetime are both sitting on "waiting for activation" so they are not working, 1 post suggested resetting the phone again setting up as a new phone and then turning iMessage and Facetime on and then restoring. After the reset iMessage and Facetime started working, I did the restore and it stopped working again. Nice waste of 2 hours.

G62-348NR laptop sound no longer works after installing Firefox4.

I'm not that computer savvy. I have no problem doing as much as I can with as much help as I can get. When looking online for help I usually look for a chat feature. Maybe I missed it here but I could not find one. I am good with step by step at a kindergarten level.
I'm working off Windows 7, 64-bit. I have been using Firefox for about 4-5 years because a co-worker suggested it. He was my go-to "computer geek". And I say computer geek with much love and respect because I just don't have the computer mentality. I update when Firefox prompts me to. I updated to Firefox 4 recently. After the update was complete I no longer had sound. I would open the speaker icon on the taksbar to adjust the sound and all seemed in working order. You could see the graphics of the adjustment. But still there was no sound at all. I went to the forums on Firefox and others had the same problem so I reverted back to Firefox 3.16. Still no sound. I have now exhausted my very limited computer "smarts". I want my sound back please. If there is any further information you need from me please let me know. Thank you to anyone who can help me resolve this issue.

I have also attempted to clear out the registry Upper/Lower Filters to no success.

At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters orLowerFilters value?
If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?
There could be an improper entry at one of these values which may be causing the problem.

Keyboard and Mousepad does not work after installing windows support software.

I was able to successfully install windows 8.1 64bit on an late 2012 iMac. I went through the installation just fine with the mousepad and keyboard. I went into the desktop and open up the files and went to computer to download the windows support software. After it was done installing the windows support software, my mouse and my keyboard stopped working completely. I couldn't even click "finish" on the download. I turned the computer off by pressing the power button, then turned it back on. I held the option key and the Macintosh HD and Windows showed up. I turned the mousepad and keyboard back on and it was working again. So I clicked on Windows and as I enter the startup screen, the mouse and keyboard stopped working again.
Computer: iMac 21.5 in. late 2012
Used Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit
The keyboard and mousepad that I have is bluetooth.

Right click the speaker icon
Select Recording devices
You should see a "tick", otherwise Right click it and enable it.

Firefos beta 8 version plugins and add-ons not working after install

After Install ghostery will not fuction. Performed a reinstall of ghostery and no luck. In manage Add-ons it says ghostery will be working after restarting the browser but no change. Why? Also completey removed (uninstalled ghostery) then rebooted and reinstalled ghostery and still no change.
Also other add-on are doing the same thing and all are compatible with this version according to the options menu in manage add-ons

I just Found out after a hour of disabling and enabling add-ons Firebug was causing my issues of missing add-on buttons and missing add-on not working try disabling it and related Firebug add-ons and restart Firefox to see if everything begins to work

The sound logo won't disapear and sound won't work

after connecting my iPod on a stereo base the sound logo won't come off and I can't have sound unless I hold the bar and it makes funny noises like an old scratch CD. Has anyone ever encounter such a problem? Thanks in advance for any help

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost

- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

- Restore from backup

Go back to iTunes, select the Music tab, uncheck the 'sync music; button, then hit apply.

I updated my iPhone and now none of the music on it will play. When I sync, I can change teh music selections on it, but they all won't play and are greyed out. Only the Playlists, Artists, Albums are black font, but all songs are grey and won't play

I recently updated my iPhone 3G to 5.0 (9A334) and it was somehow interrupted during restoration, or at least that is what it tells me. But it keeps making a new restore and adding it to a list, but never gets through without getting interrupted. anyways, I kind of got through all that, but now all the music on the iPhone won't play and is greyed out. I had some APPs greyed out, but they are not as important. Music is a huge investment in my life and this part of it has gone silent. I SYNC with my iMac. Resyncing doesn't help. I can change the selections, but can never get them to play on the iPhone.

I'm having the same issue, i restored my phone to Factory settings, even tried restoring it to my backup, half of my music bought from itunes won't play on my iphone and i'm super annoyed, this only happened once i updated to ios 7.2 so i assume its another glitch to go with my imessages not sending, getting sick of this.

Thanks. I haven't mixed down the audio or checked the number of tracks in Prefs. Good points.
As far as a mixdown goes, I'll definitely give it a try, though I wonder whether or not the tracks will be recognized during mix down recording - given that you can't hear either of those segments in playback. Just have to try.
Re the preferred number of allowed tracks - I'll go check as soon as I send this off, but I'm not sure that applies in this case, since the two Channels containing the segments that are pinked out are not in additional tracks. I should have mentioned that other audio clips and segments on the same Channels in the SAME tracks ARE heard in playback. As are two additional track in the 2nd Sequence. It's only when the two sequences are joined that the pink tinted segments can't be heard. Within the sequence the same audio cuts playback as they should. Thanks again &

Hello, I too had this same problem. I was very lazy about going through EACH song trying to select & fish for it in a folder (I have a lot of folders total of 1,979 songs). I called Apple & they told me to go to my iTunes go to FILE scroll down then ADD FOLDER.. Since everything was just out of place & didn't know where to even begin I basically deleted ALL songs from my LIBRARY & then added each folder. It literally took me less than 20 minutes. Dont worry if you have your songs labeled a certain way (Artist, name of song, genre in iTunes) everything will go back to normal. Hope this helps as it helped me! I put it aside for 2-3 years! However, some won't play and ask me for the password for the apple id they were purchased under. 2 of these ids are obsolete and I have no access to those accts. The songs all played on my old computer without prompting me for a password.
Any ideas how I can get around this hassle and get them all to play? We're talking about 800 songs that are being obstinate. The new computer is authorized under my "new" Apple id, which I have used for years.
