Must delete photos

So i want to import some photos from my iTunes to my iPhone , but do i have to delete my previous photos? with all of the latest version.

There are no photos in iTunes.
iTunes can sync photos from your computer to your iPhone, but iTunes is merely the conduit by which the data is synced.  iTunes does not store your photos.
Sync photos as you do anything else.  Open iTunes, connect iPhone, select what you want to be on your iPhone.  Whatever is selected will be on your iPhone, whatever is not selected will not be on your iPhone.

I'm trying to purchase and download a movie, but I keep getting message error that I have no space. The error states that I must delete some photos or videos in order to download. I've gone to iPod then edit and deleted some videos, but I'm still getting the message. What is the correct way to delete the videos and should they still be there.

They wont still be there if you delete them, but if you have those same photos on the main computer.

Bad news I'm afraid. iCloud only keeps the last 30 days of photos. Your device will keep some old iCloud photos around - up to 1000 photos - but those ones aren't actually on iCloud any more. It's one of my pet hates about iCloud Photostream, and it has caused a lot of people to lose data. It's a very bad design decision on Apple's part.
There are file recovery programs that might be able to recover the deleted photos from your handset, but I can't remember the names of any right now. Stop using the phone completely until you can run a file recovery program to maximise the number of photos it can restore. Preferably, switch it off completely.

  • Running out of internal storage space! Want to make room by deleting photos WITHOUT LOSING MY PHOTOS! Can I delete the Camera Roll yet still keep my photos in Photo Stream?? Will doing this free up ios storage? Does Photo Stream auto delete ever?

Hello, I am out of internal storage on my Iphone 4 ALREADY (Just purchased 3 months ago!). I need to clear up some space so I can do updates and take new photos. I was thinking about backing up my Photo Stream to the icloud and then deleting my Camera Roll.
1.) Is this a terrible idea??? I do NOT want to lose those photos! But I NEED more space on my phone!
2.) Will deleting Camera Roll free up space (a sufficient amount? My Camera Roll is at 4.5 GB)?
3.) Will deleting Camera Roll delete my photos from Photo Stream also? It doesn't seem to.
4.)  Does Photo Stream ever automatically delete photos???
5.)  Is there anyway I can save the pictures from my phone to my computer??? I can see the photos on my computer when viewing them through Photo Stream, but those are not permanent, correct?
This is one of the most ridiculous, confusing and unnessacary things I've ever known! Why oh why can't we just have a good ol' SD Card??? (My Droid never ever ran out of storage and I had it for 2 years...)
I tried backing up my photos in Itunes, but I don't have a new enough version. I tried downloading a new itunes and it still tells me I don't have the new version.
I have been working on this for 4 hours, its 2:30 am and I am going to bed. I am sorry I had to ask, but I've been searching and searching and just cannot find the answers. Thank you so much for your help!
6.) Also, I haven't been able to find the videos using the Icloud or the Photo Stream either...
7.) Do you have to have your device (pc) synced with icloud to access the info you backed up from iphone?? Like can I show my cousin my photos at her house using her computer by just loggin on??? Or can I only view my contacts, calender, mail, notifications, and such?
8.) Where on the icloud would one find text messages or other saved info??
Thank you so very much for helping me!!!

What I would say is best is to import the videos and photos to your computer so that you can delete camera roll photos with a copy of them in your possession:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083
In regards to backing up Photo Stream
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486:
Does Photo Stream use my iCloud storage?
"No. Photos uploaded to My Photo Stream or Shared Photo Streams do not count against your iCloud storage."
However, you can do the tedious task of moving your camera roll pictures to photo stream by ensuring photo stream is turned on for your device and take a screen shot of each picture in your camera roll to move it over.
To take a screen shot, just press the "Home Button" and the "Sleep/Wake Button" at the same time while viewing the image.
1.)  It's not a terrible idea, it can be tedious though.
2.)  Deleting a bunch of photos/videos from a camera roll 4.5GB in size can definitely free up space
3.)  Photo Stream photos, as you said, appear to stay upon deleting the photos.  (Tested it personally)
4.)  Photo Stream has a limit according to:  (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4858)
Essentially, it won't erase your photos until you tell it to.
    5.)  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083  (As shown above)
6.)  To update iTunes, you must download and then "Run" the download you get off the website.  Otherwise you will just have an installer program sitting there not updating iTunes.
7.)  You can bring up your Photo Stream pictures anywhere you have Photo Stream capabilities.  For a computer at someone else's house, they would have to have the iCloud control panel (http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1455) on their computer and be signed into their Photo Stream and viewing your profile's pictures (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4379)
8.)  On iCloud, you can backup your text messages, but you cannot view them independently on www.icloud.com.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4859
"You get 5 GB of free iCloud storage for:
Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Visual Voicemails"
Hope some of this information helps!

  • Deleting Photos from iPhoto library

I deleted photos from my iPhoto Library manually by going to Pictures<iPhotoLibrary<Data<then scoured each year deleting unwanted photos & renaming the keepers.  I then organized the keepers in another folder under Pictures.  Now my iPhoto library displays grey "ghost boxes" where the old photos used to be.  If I click on them the image appears.  I don't want the images or their ghosts on my iPhoto display.
1-What should I do in the future to clean up my photos & permenantly delete the trash ones
2-What should I do now?  I did make a back-up of my iPhoto library on an external hard drive, so I could bring it back to its original state, however, I spent HOURS deleting, renaming, and regoranizing photos into folders, so I'd hate to have done all that work for nothing.
My MacBookPro is about 4 years old and I am running the original iPhoto.

I deleted photos from my iPhoto Library manually by going to Pictures<iPhotoLibrary<Data
doing this trashed your iPhoto libra - it is a SQL database you must NEVER make any changes to its ocntents or structure using the finder - only modify it using the iPhoto program
1-What should I do in the future to clean up my photos & permenantly delete the trash ones
using iPhoto drag photos from an event to the iPhoto  trash and empty the iPhoto trash every 100 or so
2-What should I do now?  I did make a back-up of my iPhoto library on an external hard drive, so I could bring it back to its original state, however, I spent HOURS deleting, renaming, and regoranizing photos into folders, so I'd hate to have done all that work for nothing.
Load your backup and stay out of the inside of the iPhoto library - or start from scratch with a new library and stay out of it

  • Deleting photos from iphoto and hard drive

I'm new to macs and have been reading a lot about this subject but I still don't get it.
When I got this new macbook I dumped all my photos from the old PC onto the new hard drive. When I import photos into iPhoto, I left the advanced tab  "copy items to the iPhoto library" unticked. This I understand means I'm running a referenced library. Now when I want to delete a photo from iPhoto, I must delete it from events and then empty the trash. Should I expect the deleted photo to have been removed form the hard drive location from where it was imported originally since I asked iPhoto not to copy the file?

This I understand means I'm running a referenced library.
    Correct.
Now when I want to delete a photo from iPhoto, I must delete it from events and then empty the trash.
Correct. That removes it from iPhoto.
Should I expect the deleted photo to have been removed form the hard drive location from where it was imported originally since I asked iPhoto not to copy the file?
No. When you opted to not copy the file you said, in effect, "I want to do my own file management". So that means you get the files from the camera yourself, decide where to store them yourself and now, must delete them yourself.
It's but one of the reasons experienced users recommend against reference libraries.

How can I delete photos in the "Edited" folder in the iPhoto App on my iPad?

What a pain...you must go through all that to remove it?! So many unessary steps!
I also find that when I sync up a new photo folder to replace the old set that I previously wiped out and replaced it staggers afew pictures from before in with the new and will not show all of the new....so frustrating!!!  I even close out iPhoto and go into the photo album and all the photos that synced up which are the ones I do want are all there....it's so different than what I see the album in iPhoto.  Why Apple WHY??

  • Deleting photos in photo stream

There must be a way to delete photos taken on the iphone.  Not every photo I take is meant to be kept.  anyone figure out a way to do this?

I agree, Photo Stream desperately needs the the ability to selectively delete images. It should work the same way an IMAP email service works. Whenever I delete (or add) an image on one of my devices that change gets synched to the cloud as well as to every other device.
Everyone who wants the current limitation to change please spend two minutes and tell the people, who can actually do something about it:

    I just did.

  • How can I delete Photo albums in iPhone 4s.  I am using OS 10.5.8 Mac Book Pro

I would like to delete several albums from my iPHone 4s.   I have a MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.8.   I only can delete single photos from camera roll.

You can't delete albums in your device because it syncs your iPhoto configuration. To delete an album, you must delete it in iPhoto, but there's a solution. Connect your device to your computer, open iTunes, select your iPhone in the sidebar, go to Photos tab and select the albums you want to sync

  • How can i delete photos to make space on my phone?

how to delete photos to make room on my phone

Photos that you have saved to an album from email, camera, can be deleted by taping the photo and then taping the trash can lower right corner.  Photos that have been synced to the iPhone from iTunes on a computer must be removed by syncing back to iTunes.

  • Cannot delete photo's in Iphoto-09with Snow Leopard

Cannot delete photos from library in IPhoto 09. Whats happen is that the spinning thing starts and never stop. Then I must "force stop" the computer with on/off button. Any experienced the same thing?
I drag the photo from library - pictures to bin. Same happen when do short command.
    Jean-Pierre

I drag the photo from library - pictures to bin.
Which Bin? In the iPhoto Window? Or the main trash?
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Deleting Photos in iPhoto and Finder

I just bought a MacBook Pro that will arrive Monday and I'm getting everything organized on my iMac so it will be easy to transfer everything, including my photo library. I'm using Adobe Bridge CS3 to look through photos and then using Finder to delete photos, which moved them to the trash on the dock. I have a lot of duplicates (I have a pretty happy shooting finger that has only slightly improved since I got my first dSLR 4 years ago). Today I opened up iPhoto and saw a whole folder/roll that I had previously deleted and trashed. The weird thing was I was able to open the photos in my external editor (Photoshop CS3)....I was expecting some kind of error that said it couldn't find the file, since I had deleted it, but that didn't happen. So, why am I still able to open deleted photos? It's like everything is saved twice, once within iPhoto and once within Finder, but that makes no sense. I've been deleting photos within the iPhoto/Pictures 'Originals' folder of Finder. Isn't that the 'master copy?' How/why are deleted photos still showing up in iPhoto?
At this point, I'm thinking it would be easier to manually move the folders I want to my new MBP, rather than dropping my whole iPhoto library at once. I really don't want to search through the iPhoto rolls and delete duplicates AGAIN. I guess the bigger question I have is, what is the most efficient way to organize photos? I'm not using keywords or anything at this point. A 'Roll' in iPhoto consists of a folder in Finder, and each import is its own roll. I'm debating iPhoto '09/Aperture 3/Lightroom for my new MBP. I guess I'm a little lost, and maybe once I get to use iPhoto '09 for a while, that will help me make a decision. I have somewhere on the order of 12,000 photos if that matters.
    Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm using Adobe Bridge CS3 to look through photos and then using Finder to delete photos, which moved them to the trash on the dock.
If you have done this you have destroyed your iPhoto library and will have to start over - you must NEVER make any changes of any sort to the content or structure of the iPhoto library using the finder or any program other than iPhoto - iPhoto is a relational database and making changes to its files from external sources will corrupt the library and case you to have to start over
It's like everything is saved twice, once within iPhoto and once within Finder,
Not unless you have changed the default setting for the advanced preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library" - which is strongly not recommended
Based on what you have done that is your only choice.
A 'Roll' in iPhoto consists of a folder in Finder, and each import is its own roll
This is not the case - iPhoto is a database program and the folders do not necessarily correspond to events (rolls went away with iPhoto '08)
you must chose one program and use it - if you mix bridge and iPhoto (or any other two programs) you will continually have a mess on your hands as you do now
If you shoot RAW you may find Aperture a better choice than iPhoto

  • Deleting photos in iPhoto 09 and also hard drive

    Hi,
I have got an issue with iPhoto 09, and cant find anyway around it!
I import photos into iPhoto only referencing to my original files on my mac hard drive (i.e. un-ticked copy to iphoto library); but when I move them to iphoto trash, and then empty iphoto trash (and accept that "I am sure I want photos to be deleted permanently"), I still have the photos on my mac hard drive.
I noticed that iPhoto library size would increase and decrease when adding and removing the photos, so not sure if I still only add them to iphoto library and then delete them from there (or maybe this increase and decrease is only because of meta-data iphoto makes for the imported photos!)
I am going mental with this issues, save me guys!

    I import photos into iPhoto only referencing to my original files on my mac hard drive (i.e. un-ticked copy to iphoto library);
One of the reasons that using a referenced library is not recommended is that deleting photos is more difficult
but when I move them to iphoto trash, and then empty iphoto trash (and accept that "I am sure I want photos to be deleted permanently"), I still have the photos on my mac hard drive.
That is correct - iPhoto does not touch photos outside of the iPhoto library (except to optionally delete photos from cameras after importing - and it is strongly recommended that people do not use this option) - when you unchecked the "copy imported items to the iPhoto library" box you agreed to be totally in charge of the photos being referenced - after you delete from iPhoto you must then delete from the disk where you are referencing them
I noticed that iPhoto library size would increase and decrease when adding and removing the photos, so not sure if I still only add them to iphoto library and then delete them from there (or maybe this increase and decrease is only because of meta-data iphoto makes for the imported photos!)
Even in a referenced mode iPhoto creates a modified version and places it in the iPhoto library modified folder any time a photo is modified including rotation due to camera autorotation being set
That is the most likely cause of the increase of space in the iPhoto library - when you delete in iPhoto and empty the iPhoto trash everything about the photo is deleted
