Must force quit Premiere Mac OS 10.9.4

Must force quit Premiere Mac OS 10.9.4
Mac Pro 3Ghz 8 core Xeon E5
32 gig
2-D700 graphics

I did as you said, with a few more details from Larry Jordan. When I trashed my old projects did show up so I wondered if I really trashed. Premiere is working well after a few start-ups and I have imported a new video in one premiere shut down-restart. I had idea that my media cash database is directed to the Promise raid, to save space on the small solid state system drive, and that may be the problem but it is not an issue. Thanks all... Jim
When an application starts acting weird, one of the best ways to reset it, before you call tech support, is to trash its preference files.
With Final Cut in Lion, you need to find a hidden folder and trash two files. Recent versions of Premiere Pro make this much easier. Here’s the secret:
When launching Premiere Pro from either a Mac or PC, hold down two keys while launching. This automatically throws away Premiere’s preferences.
For the Mac, press Shift+Option
For the PC, press Shift+Alt
In both cases, continue holding the keys until the splash screen appears. You will know you successfully trashed preferences when the splash screen doesn’t have projects listed.

  • Firefox 3.6.2 using Mac OS 10.5.8 won't quit, must force quit

    Hi Gang,
Have loved FF for years on my Macs. But for last few months FF will only quit normally maybe 20% of the time; the other 80% I must force-quit it. SOMETIMES it will quit, but I have to wait SOOOOO LONG that I can see the grass growing out my office window. Any ideas? I am using FF 3.6.2 running Mac OS 10.5.8 on hardware PowerMac G5 Dual Processors (which was the last of the PPC processors, before Intel chips came into use). I have plenty of RAM. This machine is running on a restoration from Time Machine, from when my MacBookPro laptop was stolen.

Are you using Clear Recent History to clear any data when you close Firefox?

  • Snowleopard-firefox totally unresponsive,must force quit,new download didn't help

i changed a few settings last night- privacy, flash, and javascript settings. When i tried to shut down, the macbook lingered, then restarted.(i forget whether or not i force-quit after that.) Today firefox is 100% unresponsive. I cannot change preferences, etc. I just get the annoying mac-wheel,then must force quit. I've tried "safe mode";& "reset"...I deleted it & downloaded firefox again.Nothing has changed.I have no access to "menu" or any other firefox-related function.Even the "well, this is embarrassing" message is unresponsive. > Safari & chrome still work fine.< ...It's as if this computer wants nothing to do with firefox, though it has worked fine for the 3-4 years i've had it (except for downloading files from bandcamp.com,which became impossible a year or 2 ago;and streaming videos not playing well,if at all,for the last year or 2;but that's true of chrome too...)
I've likely already lost my bookmarks, but i still would prefer starting over with firefox than using chrome or safari as my main browser.
Thank you, anyone who tries to help.

If qutting it is cause issues try holding the option key while you click the icon on the dock and choose force quit from the list!
Also have you tired the Rest fire fox feature (that is if your able to get to it)
    To do so:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • Will not upgrade mail database....freezes and must force quit

downloaded lion and mail requires upgrade mail database.  Freezes and does not upgrade and must force quit.   Try again and same thing happens.
I can get mail from icloud but not thru mail icon on dock.  Help!

I think it's safe to say that FCPX wasn't tested throroughly for use on anything.
with that out of the way, there are many variables as to what might cause your problems, but I don't think it's the mac mini as long as it meets the specified minimum requirements (especially the graphics card).
You might try creating a camera archive first and then importing from that.
The other issue might be the file format itself; you might need to use Clipwrap first. Maybe someone who has the same camera can chime in.

  • Rogue message:  can't open, must force quit

I have one message in my in-box which will not open. Highlighting it (even by deleting mail above or below it) prompts the rainbow swirl to appear forever and I must force quit. Any ideas?

If your mail client has a "preview pane" feature like Outlook, Outlook Express, or Entourage try turning this feature off.
You should then have just a list of mail and subjects.
Select the offending item and delete.
I would immediately empty the Deleted Items and then quit and restart the mail client after that.

  • Cmd+W and cmd+Q non-functional. Must force quit Logic 9.1.4 (SL 10.6.8)

Upgraded from 10.5.8 all the way to 10.6.8 via combo update.
The only app that has been adversely affected is Logic 9.1.4 in both 32-bit and 64-bit modes.
It's really only two items regarding closing and quitting.
Frankly, it seems only the shortcuts and functions under the "File" menu are causing it to either crash or have no effect at all.
All other key commands and menu functions work as expected. AND this is the only app where it happens.
    In summary:
cmd+W will not close a window and neither will clicking the X button at the top left of the window. cmd+Q will not quit the app. I must force quit.
cmd+N will make a new project and use the other shortcuts it seems.
I've removed all audio units and any other plugins.
    Details:
At first, it would launch and pause for a few seconds. The screen would softly flash white and the app would quit.
I then tried to repair permissions, and attempt the methods discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2375
Logic would launch and function -- except that I couldn't close a project and required a force quit to exit the app.
So I removed the app and prefs again and went into var/db/receipts and removed the Logic associated items (.bom and .plist) which forced a complete re-install but it was to no avail.
Now, as before,  it crashes with the soft white screen blink before I can do anything.
I would like to avoid a complete blow-away since Logic appears to be the only app on my system causing any problems in 10.6.8.
Is this a symptom any of you are familiar with?

No solution but there are at least two others reporting problems after the last OS update...

Hopefully someone will post a solution.

  • Using Mavericks Spelling and Grammar in Pages document causes Pages to freeze. Must Force Quit. Mavericks spell checker works OK in Text and Emails. How can I fix this problem?

Using Mavericks' Spelling and Grammar in a Pages document causes Pages to freeze, Must Force Quit. How can I fix this problem?
Mavericlks Spelling and Grammar works in Pages when used manually. And it works automatically in Text and email.

    Another autocorrect bug:
I type a lot of lyrics, which tend to cotain words like ’cause and ’em instead of because and them.
I've set up autocorrect instances to change a plain apostrophe with an ending, single curly quote for these words, but they are invariably changed to a beginning, single curly quote mark by Pages. The only way I can get the correct curly quote is to type over the wrong quote manually and hope that I don't have to edit the rest of the word again, as this would cause autocorrect to kick in again and change the quote to the wrong, beginning curly mark again.
Does anyone know how to get around this tedious problem?

  • IPhoto preferences must force quit

    Hello,
I am trying to change iPhoto (8.1.2) preferences and every time I launch iPhoto>Preferences, beach ball of death and I must force quit.
I can work within iPhoto and do other stuff, just when I go into Preferences does this happen.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Adam

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • Must force quit to close and won't display links with pdf or quicktime

when i try to close firefox it gets hung up and i must force quit. also when i try to open links like show a bill and it a pdf the screen goes blank. also other links that use quicktime fail as well. all this works fine in safari so i must conclude it is a fire fox issue.

You do not have a problem with the iPhoto application - you have a problem with the iPhoto library
Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

  • Must force quit Mail application

I am most used to using Entourage as my mail application but have been trying to use Mail but it constantly freezes and then I must Force Quit to start over. Keep going back to Entourage but of course I need Mail, for example, if I want to mail contents of webpage in Safari. What's the deal with Mail. Are there known problems?

Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations, and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Do you have any Mail plug-ins? In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?
    /Library/InputManagers/
    /Library/Mail/Bundles/
    ~/Library/InputManagers/
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
To make accurately reporting this information easier, you may open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type the following command (you can just copy it here and paste it in Terminal), and press <Return>. You can then copy the output of that command from Terminal and paste it in your reply to this post:
    ls -1 /Library/InputManagers /Library/Mail/Bundles ~/Library/InputManagers ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • PS elements 12 freezing when doing selective color and having to force quit on Mac.

PS elements 12 freezing when doing selective color and having to force quit on Mac.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times and that did not work.  I've changed preferences and that did not work and i tried hitting shift+command and option at start up of program and that did not fix the problem either.

    Hi,
We sincerely apologize for the problem customers are facing while using a trackpad with Photoshop Elements 11 & 12 on Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite).
We have been actively working with Apple to resolve this problem as quickly as possible. We're hopeful this will get completely resolved in an upcoming update of Yosemite(MAC 10.10).
In the meanwhile, you have two options to work around this problem:
    1. Option1: Use a mouse instead of the trackpad
    2. Option2: Install a plug-in which should workaround the problem
    Plug-in installation instructions:
    1. Close Photoshop Elements
    2. Download this zip file to a location you can easily find (e.g. your desktop)
    3. Unzip the file, WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin, and move it to the Plug-In folder:
    • For Elements 12 – //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 12/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
    • For Elements 11 - //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
You can verify the plug-in is installed by launching the Photoshop Elements Editor and choosing Help > System Info... Scroll to the bottom of the text in the dialog and look for the plug-in name "WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin".
Note: This plugin is a temporary workaround and should be used until this issue is addressed in Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). Please remove this plugin once the issue is officially resolved by Apple.
If you are using a stylus in conjunction with a trackpad, you might see issues with your trackpad. Workaround in this particular case is to use mouse instead of the trackpad.
    Hope this helps!

  • Firefox always hangs. Spinning Beach Ball appears. Must Force Quit repeatedly. Have re-installed and refreshed with no change. How to fix?

Every time firefox is launched, the spinning beach ball appears, sometimes immediately, sometimes within a minute or two, every time. Must force quit. I have re-installed Firefox and also have refreshed with no change. Unless this is fixed, Firefox is unusable. I am running OSX 10.9.5 on a 17" MacBook Pro.
I cannot access any information through Firefox, because t always hangs.

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
''If Firefox is not running:'' Hold down the option key when starting Firefox.
''If Firefox is running:'' You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    and OK the restart.
''Both scenarios:'' A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Refresh).
    Any less crashy?

  • Force quitting a "Mac Help" Window

I was using Numbers on iWork 08 and I clicked the *"Mac Help"* on the main option bar. I typed a question and the Mac Help froze. I assumed that if I closed the Numbers application, that the Mac Help would then clear away. Apparently the problem was not within the Numbers Application, but simply just with Mac Help. I tried force quitting but when I open Force Quit to select Mac Help as one of the programs I quit, it isn't listed in the options. It still has the little Pinwheel showing the Mac Help is loading, and it's been that way for the past hour. It can manually move it around the screen, but it stays in front of whatever windows I have open. I cannot delete it, and the only way I can see it clearing from my screen would be to restart my computer. I do not want to do this, and I am just wondering if there is another way of *force quitting the Mac Help*.

    Try this:
Open *Activity Monitor* in Applications>Utilities. Sort these by "Process Name." Find *Help Viewer*, then click the *Force Quit* button (looks like a stop sign). That should solve things!

  • Must force quit mail - registering syncing suspected

On an iMac running 10.5.8, Mail has to be force quit repeatedly. When looking at the Activity viewer, the process that appears to be hanging is "registering syncing preferences," and "syncing."
Any idea what's going on here? I've deleted all mail data and rebuilt it and consistently have the same issue. I suspect it's related to MobileMe syncing, but am not sure. Any ideas?

Having many issues with mail. Must click message viewer to actually see my emails. Then must force quit to get out of mail. I finally left entourage(super slow with exchange server) to find mail not to be any better.
