Must reconnect to SSID every time my computer re-starts.
Every time my computer starts after sleeping or shutting down, I have to re-select my SSID to connect to the internet. I just got a new router, Hawking HAWNR1. This didn't happen before with my Linksys router--I was always connected to the internet automatically every time I turned on my computer. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Now my FF 9.0.1. The problem was with version 8.0. With FF 7.0, everything was fine.Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button (in Firefox 4: right-click the extension -> "Find Updates") to do a compatibility check. -
I'm using a late 2006 2.33GHz imac.
I clean installed 10.6 from disc then updated to 10.7 from download.
Now every time my computer goes into sleep it won't wake up.
The only way it will restart is to pull the mains lead out of the imac, put it back and try until it will start.
This only happened after reinstalling. Only Apple OS was on the imac and so it must be an issue with the software I believe.....
Anyone know how to cure this problem please?

paulThis isn't a fix, more a workaround I used when I had wake from sleep problems that lasted from some point in 10.6.x, through 10.7 and into 10.8 (got fixed for me in 10.8.2). It seems to be connected with Bluetooth failing to wake up properly:
System Preferences>Energy Saver and set 'computer sleep' to 'never'. -
Mail mail was working fine for months but now I keep getting an error message every time my computer shuts down or even goes to sleep. I get the exclamation point error and when I try to reconnect it always falis. My internet connection is fine and nothing else is losing connections. The only way to fix it is to shut down mail completely and restart which fixes the connection every time, but it's getting really frustrating have to constantly shut down mail and restart it just to use my email.

hi i am having a problem with itunes on this computer every time the computer comes on i get a notification which says"the program cant start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer,try reinstalling the program to fix this problem" but when i click on ok it just keeps popping up 4-5 time and then gone.and i cant dopwnload the itunes again.help

Do you get the Installation indicator every time you Restart or Start Up your computer? On all my computers upgraded to 10.10, I get the Installation "thermometer" indicator every time I Restart or Start Up my computers. In Verbose mode, I see a bash command that is looking for the Installation image to finish its clean up. Does anyone else have this problem? Is the Installation indicator the new "normal" start up and restart screen for 10.10?
If you are referring to the progress indicator that appears every startup, that is normal. It has replaced the old spinning gear. There's nothing wrong.

You need to check the software you run.
Some officially supported and sold Mac versions of software use Wine for porting in some fashion or another. If some program you are running is spawning these Wine processes, its probably buggy and not shutting down correctly.
How to figure out which are Wine and which are not...?
Well if its a Cider ported game, you just see if there is a Cider logo on the game.
If its Wineskin ported, theres no super easy way to tell, depending on how much its been modified, but you can look inside the app (right click and "Show Package Contents") and go to Contents/MacOS and see if Wineskin executable is in there. Unless its a very old version of Wineskin it shouldn't be able to hang like that without major issues int he Windows software running in it, and I don't know any any company would release it if it was that buggy.
If its WineBottler Ported, you'll notice quickly because it launches X11 and runs the windows under X11... of course not all X11 apps are Wine, but if you have a program that launches and runs in X11.app then you can look inside it at Contents/MacOS to see if its Wine related.
It could also be Crossover, or a Crossover port of software... you'd have to dig around inside of its app too to see if it looked like one of those. -

It just keeps quitting every time I try to start the software, but when I log in under a 'test' user it will start up in italian.
For me it helped to instal and uppdate flip4mac.

every time i try to start up my older ipod 5th gen it makes a sound then shows the sad ipod icon so what could i try before i take it to the store.
If it's making a clicking sound, then the hard drive is probably bad. The apple store probably wont do anything more than give you 10% discount on a new one.
You should be able to do a google search for ipod repairs and find someone who can replace the hard drive. -
Why must I reset sharing password every time host computer is shut down?
Using 10.7.5 on iMac desktop. Sharing Internet via Airport card. Every time the host computer is powered down the sharing password must be reset. Have tried using both security settings offered with same result.
Have you disabled hardware acceleration? (not solved by reset is usual)
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
