Must rename iPod every time I hook it to my PC

I've had a few troubles with my iPod. I have installed music on it without difficulty, but then I started to get a "!" folder every time I hooked the iPod to my computer with a message that read "iTunes.exe -- Corrupt file. The file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes\iTunesPrefs is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility." I could still upload music to the iPod and play the music, but I continued to get this message until I ran the iPod updater. After doing that I no longer get the "!" folder error message, but now when iTunes starts up it always asks me to name my iPod as if it forgets it every time. So, what can I do?
Thanks!

"iTunes.exe -- Corrupt file. The file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes\iTunesPrefs is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility."
are you still getting that error message, Frankenstein?
if so, let's try another restore:
iPod: What to do if Windows displays an "itunes.exe - Corrupt File" message
... this may help with the renaming issue too. (the preferences for names and whatnot are stored on the ipod itself. so the corruption problem may still be nibbling at those files.)
keep us posted. if Da Gopha (our authority on this error) is around, he may be able to help with advanced chkdsk treatments.
love, b

  • Are all entries in SAP B1 must be reconciled every time?

    Hi guys,
Lets take a simple e.g. -- In a SAP B1 2007 B PL 7 Fresh Test company (no entry was there previously) I have done one GR-PO and then an A/P Invoice against a Vendor.
Now the involving each G/L (Row Material, VAT, Trade Creditors, etc.) has one un-reconciled transaction (that is the one and only transaction) u2026. Why ? u2026 Is internal reconciliation is necessary if I do a Year End / Period closing at this point for this company?
Are all entries in SAP B1 must be reconciled every time? Or only the mismatched entries need to be reconciled?

    hii
in 2007 release one of the special feuture added is Automatic reconciliation , there is no need to reconcile each and every transanction unless there is some diffrence in figures, that could be coz of some advance payments etc, as it is done automatically
    Thanks

  • Why is it that every time I hook my Ipod up to my laptop it makes duplicates of the songs in my Ipod?

Every time I link my Ipod touch to my laptop it starts to sync with my computer even though I have it on the "manually manage music and videos" option. Along with syncing, it makes copies of the same songs that are already on my Ipod so now I have 3 of the same song on there. Is there anybody else that has had this problem? Please help!!!!!!!

Try to delete compatibility.ini in the Firefox Profile Folder.
That should initiate compatibility, but hopefully it won't return a next time.
If that doesn't work then try a new profile.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • I have to WIPE iPod every time I add music to iTunes!

Hi. I seem to have everyone's problem at once.
I've just upgraded to an 80Gb Video iPod after filling up my old 20Gb click-wheel model, which still works as wonderfully as the day I bought it over 4 years ago. My new model is, however, driving me crazy! On first plugging it in, I got the Unknown error -48 that others have described, and was told that I couldn't sync. I updated, I restored, I synced again. Fine - the music was there even though iTunes was still telling me that I had the -48 error. However, every time I add a CD to my iTunes collection and then plug in my iPod, I find that the music is not added. What's more, I'm told that my iPod is synced with another iTunes library and that if I want to sync with this one it will erase all data and start over - this takes several hours and is totally unacceptable.
I also get the flashing 'do not disconnect' sign permanently whenever connected, even if there's nothing being transferred.
Weirdly, if I click on the iPod in my 'Devices' list in iTunes, I find all the menu options changed and grayed out. If I try and select, say, 'sync music' or 'sync movies' I get a message asking me if I really want to do that, since "all existing content on the iPod will be removed and replaced with the contents of your iTunes Library".
I'm a humble Apple fan who's always used Apple and is used to intuitive devices. This experience is demoralising and I'm regretting my expensive and frustrating purchase even after 1 week. Please can someone help? Do I have to send this device back to Apple?

At the moment there seems to be no permanent fix for error -48. The Apple fix of erasing the iPod with Disk Utility and restoring with iTunes that is mentioned in various posts appears to work for some and not others. This is the workaround I'm currently using until a reliable fix comes along. Give it a try and it may help with the secondary problems you are also experiencing.
Set up iTunes "not" to open when you connect the iPod.
Enable Disk Use on the iPod
Eject the iPod and shut down iTunes
Reconnect the iPod and open Disk Utility
Click on your iPod in the Utility pane and choose Repair Disk which will find and fix a number of errors.
Close Disk Utility and open iTunes and your iPod should connect and update as usual.
Keep the settings above and each time you connect the iPod to update it run Disk Utility repair as above before opening iTunes. It's far from being a acceptable answer but until a permanent one comes along I've found that it works for me.

  • ITunes "Updates" every song synced to the iPod every time it is connected

Since the update of iTunes to 9.1.1, every time I connect my 3G iPod Touch (32GB) to my Macbook iTunes "Updates" every song synced to the iPod. I have seen this before when iTunes has a new revision, but it usually only happens the first time the iPod is attached after iTunes is updated. Now, it is happening every time.
I have restored the iPod to its virgin state, but that did not change anything. Any ideas?

It doesnt make a difference anyway if I set it for 1,5 or 15 minutes, I ALWAYS have to enter my passcode even if it's asleep for 5 seconds.

  • When choosing to use the Apple wireless keyboard,re-pairing must be done every time. Is this normal?

I must go through the pairing process every time I use the wireless keyboard with the Apple TV. Is this normal, and to be expected?

This will most likely help a bunch.....it did a complete fix for me.  Follow it step-by-step.
    1.   Open "System Preferences".   ( computer only), (Windows computer unknown)
    2.   Open "Network".
    3.   Click on the "Sprocket with down arrow".
    4.   Select "Make Service Order"
    5.   Move the connection your using (Wifi, Ethernet, etc.) to the top, and click Apply.
    6.   If you selected Ethernet, then turn OFF Wifi in the top menu.
    7.   Shut DOWN your computer and then restart after completely shutting down.
7a. Either restart or unplug and plug in the Apple TV (insure your logged into Home Share after restart).
7b. Start iTunes (insure your logged into Home Share).
    Enjoy life again!

    Firefox 2.0.0.6

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Jay3988, I wish I could answer this question, but I have the
SAME issue. I'm replying to see if there are answers to the
problem. My need to reinstall the player is intermittent, but it
more than 50% needed each time I launch the browser. It has
happened on previous versions of Firefox also. I do find it a
little more successful (less need to reinstall) when I UNINSTALL
the player first, but it still doesn't hold. Hope we find answers,
and thanks for posting. I've been quite frustrated with the
problem, and have no problems when it is installed and working.
I am also on a Mac PowerPC OS 10.4.10, G5, 1.8 GHz, Dual Core
    processor, 2GB RAM.

  • Why must I restore every time?

For a few weeks now, every time I want to sync, I have to restore my iPod. iTunes shows all my music in there, and the correct amount of data on the iPod, but it won't sync. Why? I use this for my job, and I don't always have 20 minutes free to restore when I want to add a song or rearrange them. Please help me.

Go through the steps laid out here:

If after all that, things are still acting wonky, you should call support or make an appointment with a Genius at the Apple store.

  • Must Reload Page Every Time

I have come in contact with a problem in Dreamweaver CS3 on
my Mac Book Pro. When I edit a file in Dreamweaver, whether it be
CSS, PHP, or anything else, when I save it and then bounce over to
the browser to preview it things are fine, but when I bounce back
to Dreamweaver I get this pop-up that reads 'This file has been
modified outside of Dreamweaver. Do you want to reload it?' No one
is editing these files other then me and I get this pop-up every
time I leave Dreamweaver and then bounce back. It's very annoying
and wonder if anyone had any ideas on how to disable this.
I should also comment that I did not have this problem on my
    PC with Dreamweaver CS3.

I've actually discovered the answer on another forum. They
suggested go to preferences and select file types. Reload modified
files. This works perfectly but beware that if multiple people are
editing a file it will not warn you know.

  • Must reset password EVERY time I log in

For whatever reason, I cannot sign into my account without resetting my password every time I log in.  I reset the password to the same thing every time.  Not only is this a TERRIBLE user experience, this is unacceptable for a large tech company to not be able to get this right.

This is happening to me as well. I log on (correctly), then it asks me for my email address, I type that in...next page says I have more than 1 account and gives me the choice to click AT&T Access ID or AT&T Account Manager.  Clicking either one takes me to reset my password. If I click the "Personal" tab in the top left, I go back to the home page and have to start over. This happens on my laptop & my smart phone app.  Any suggestions yet?

  • Incoming network connections – must accept manually every time I launch

I keep getting asked, every time I launch iTunes, whether I want to allow it to accept incoming network connections.
Isn't there any way to avoid this extra step every time I want to run this application?

Just in case anyone stumbles upon this thread like I did...while searching for the same problem with Keynote (or maybe other apps).  Deleting the Keynote app and emptying the trash worked to clear up my persistent "allow incoming network connections" pop-ups in Keynote.  But since you can't just download Keynote again (unless you purchased form the Mac App Store), here's what you can do:
Type "Keynote" into the spotlight search.  When you see the app in the search results, Command+Click on it to open up it's Finder location.  Then right-click (CTRL+Click) on the Keynote app file in Finder and choose "Compress..." to create a zip of the app in the same folder location as the original.  Now delete the keynote.app file to send it to the trash.  Lastly empty the trash.  Once the app is gone**, double-click on the zip file to expand Keynote again in it's original location.  Once you're satisfied, you can send the zip file of Keynote to the trash.
**If you still get the problem even when deleting the app and emptying the trash, then you might need to delete and purge the "plist" file for keynote as well.  It is located at /Users/YOURUSER/Library/Preferences (where YOURUSER is your own personal username) and the file is called com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist.  If you don't know how to get to your Library folder on later version of Mac OS X, you can open Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking "Go" in Finder's menu bar, and Library will magically appear as a Go location.
