Must reset modem multiple times a day.

This is a problem I noticed other people in my area are having. I must reset my D-LINK 2750B modem at least 10-15 day in order to regain connection to the internet. What is the issue? Should I return this modem for a replacement? I have tried other suggestions posted in this forum. It is an annoyance and not worth the amount paid for the service. Thank you.

I am sure you've heard this before. I too called several times on the same issue. The tec says I'm to far from post. The line quality sucks. I'm with you . Why are we paying for  this if the dang thing doesn't work most of the time.  Please there must be something to be done to fix the issue.....

  • D-LINK/ Power reset multiple times a day

I have seen multiple threads with this issue.  I called in roughly 6 months ago, and found out that I was on the 3.5-7 MBPS and it was way too fast for our area, everything kept timing out so we moved down to 1.1-3 MBPS.  Well, that still hasn't stopped any of the loss of connectivity issues.  I still have to reset it multiple times a day.  Once it's up and running our speeds are some what efficient.  I just called today (1/4/14), and the service tech was saying that it might be the modem, but since it's not acting up she can't tell what the problem might be (Big Help!).  Then I asked since she thinks it could be the gateway/router if we could get a new one and see if that might be the problem.  Pretty much just asking if we can start somewhere so we can eliminate some of the possible problems.  She told me that I would have to buy a new one for $39.99.
Is there anybody who might be able to help me with this, or has had to deal with this in the past? What were your solutions to fix the issue?

  • Why do I need to reset my Airport Express multiple times a day?

I purchased an Airport Express (AE) in 2008.  Ocassionaly since I've owned the device, I've had a problem connecting to it via iPod touch, iPhone, Macbook Pro, Macbook, etc.  I would see the AE in my wifi router list, I just couldn't connect to it.  I simple reboot always seemed to fix the problem.  As time has passed, I found myself having to reboot it more and more often.  Within the past few months, it seems to be a daily occurance.  Within the past couple weeks, I've had to reboot it multiple times a day.  I have also performed a facory reset via the button and via airport utility - neither seem to affect the issue.
I like the AE for the simple fact that it has AirTunes abilities, this is quite frankly the only reason I have it.  I would like to replace it, but I fear another unit would have similar issues.
Is anyone else having these same problems on a 2+ year old AirPort Express?  if so, is there a fix action?  thanks.

Hi, I'm having the same problem and have to reboot my Airport Express at least once a day. It is extremely frustrating.
    Firmware is 6.5
    Hopefully someone can help us

  • Internet outage multiple times a day

I have a confusing problem that i've been constantly trying to troubleshoot myself but, i'm running out of ideas on what the problem is. If anyone can help it fix this issue, it would be GREATLY appreciated!  My internet drops completely at random times of the day. Usually every few hours ( sometimes sooner). I've checked the lights on my modem multiple times when this has occured. All the lights show that i should have an active internet connection. I've tried to reset my modem multiple times and usually does the trick for a few hours, i figure its a modem defect. I've only had the modem for about a year now. This is a rather confusing problem to me and i'm not very familiar with how to post any information from my logs to identify this problem, so any help is greatly appreciated.

.Maybe this can provide some help. These logs popped up after the problem occured.

  • IMac goes to sleep/hibernate multiple times per day after installing Maverick OS. I have to shutdown and power back on.

iMac goes to sleep/hibernate multiple times per day after installing Maverick OS. Moving the mouse or hitting the spcaebar will not wake the pc.
I have to shutdown and power back on. My iMac was purchased in January 2011 and no longer in warrenty.  The energy saver 'sleep' and 'display' settings are set at 10 minutes. When I changed to 'never' the machine got very hot and I changed the settings back.  I have checks by: Put hard disk to sleep when possible and wake for network access.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Mac Mini Restarting Multiple times per day

I have a Mac Mini from Sept 2010.  Recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and now the restarts due to an issue several times per day.  The computer is fine when i am using it, but the issue comes up when i return to wake the monitor by hitting a key or moving the mouse.  Sleep is disabled, but the monitor is set to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity.  Sometimes it will be fine left for hours on its own and other times when i come back to the computer, I am met with a gray screen stating the computer had to restart.

    Thanks for the reply, den.thed.
I tried the first suggestion, resetting the SMC, but after this the problem continues.
I think the issue is related to the second, kernel panicking.
As for suggestions 3 and 4, i have my energy settings as you show in your post, with monitor sleep after 15 minutes, computer sleep never and none of the options checked.  While the computer does not sleep, this is only an issue when i step away from the computer for a while and come back, not when i am actively using it.
The latest error message is as follows, and seems to indicate a kernel panic (or several).
Interval Since Last Panic Report:  112486 sec

  • Macbook pro 2011 freezing multiple times a day

I've had my 13" macbook pro (early 2011) for 10 months now and it's always frozen fairly regulary like once a week, but recently i freezes multiple times a day and says all my alpications are not responding and won't let me force quit so my only option is to restart the computer everytime.
It seems like the problem mostly occurs whilst browsing the internet, but i have reinstalled both firefox and chrome and still have the same problem.
Anyone any ideas on how to fix it as restarting and loosing work all the time is getting anoying now.
Also I'd like to do a hardware check as my year warenty is almost up but pressing and holding 'd' on start up doesn't work - has this changed?

    Try the following
    1. SMC Reset http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    2. PRAM Reset http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    3. Safe Mode http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4373
Also Use Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions.
To find Disk Utility: Go to Finder> Applications> Utilities> Disk Utilities
Once there click on Macintosh HD in the left column to highlight it.
    Then click Repair Disk Permissions.
Keep me updated, there is another option if these do not work.

  • Ipad crashes multiple times a day

I've had my Ipad for about 2 years now but am experiencing problems in that it crashes multiple times a day. It often happens during playing games, but also with opening Safari, other apps or even acessing the App store. I downloaded a system monitor app and memory use is in the 90%s even with no apps open. This is probably the cause, I suspect but how do I fix it?
It is on the latest iOS and has 32 gb of which about half is used and the rest is available.

    I assume it's a Original iPad.
    1. Double-click the Home button to close all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
    2. Hold the Apps down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close App
    4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
    5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

  • Ipad2 crashes multiple times a day after ios7 upgrade.

Ipad2 crashes multiple times a day after ios7 upgrade. This does not seem to be an app specific problem and has happened with Safari, other browsers, games, books, etc. The screen freezes and then the app closes to the reveal the desktop. I use the ipad exclusively in landscape. I have purged memory several times and tried re installation. I never had a problem with the device prior to the upgrade. Any suggestions or solutions? Many thanks.

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
    If the issue persists...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11) Installed on your computer
    iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download

After the restore did the phone work properly for a while? Say, a day or so?
If so it is possible you have an app that doesn't let go of memory properly. I reboot my iPhone ( hold sleep/wake and hole till you see the apple logo) every few days. This resets the memory. The iPhone OS has doesn't seem to mange memory very well yet. So a reboot will help with that. I have had my phone almost slow to a stop before I started rebooting. Always reboot after installing a new app. Also do you close all pages in Safari when you are done? This is a good practice. Safari will run in the background and use processor time and drain your battery quicker. Create a new blank page then close all others when you are done browsing for a while. I have also found that certain web site that have animated images like weather maps will turn the phone into molasses. As soon as i close that page it gets faster.
If all of the above have no effect then as Tamara said it is time for a trip to the Genius bar.
    Good luck

  • Rdk 03032 Every day, multiple times a day

Been getting rdk 03032 errors every day for the past week multiple times a day. I've had to reboot the X1 box multiple times each time, sometimes reboot the cable modem.  This is getting crazy. I had a tech come out and do the install of the X1  back in July and the signals were checked then so I don't think the signals were bad.  Any advice as to what I need to do?

Signals change, weather changes, equipment breaks down...  your best bet is to get a TECH back out to take a look at why you are losing connectivity so often... You can take a snapshot of your signal levels when the system is running poorly by going into System Diagnostics and finding your Upstream Power level, Downstream Power level and SNR...   Post those levels here for others to see and comment on.

  • Hard lock ups multiple times a day - How can I troubleshoot?

My machine locks up hard multiple times a day. If I happen to be sitting in front of it, I observe that the image on the monitors stops changing. Mouse and keyboard will not work at all (including Magic key SysRq sequences). I cannot ping the box from another machine. The system has not made it to 24 hours of uptime for some weeks.
I am beginning to suspect that this may be an issue with the NVIDIA driver, but that's only a guess since it's the only thing I've seen before that can lock up a machine hard like this. I have checked journalctl and the Xorg logs, but don't see anything telling.
What should be my next steps toward solving this issue?

When it locks up, do any indicators on the keyboard blink?  That would be an indication of a kernel panic.
If there are no blinking lights, does it unlock eventually?
Has the machine ever been stable?
Have you tried installing a RAM test in your boot loader and running it?
Next, I would start blacklisting any kernel module you don't absolutely need to see if you can isolate it that way.
    Also, this looks ominous:
Apr 29 07:49:48 lore kernel: This system BIOS has enabled interrupt remapping
on a chipset that contains an erratum making that
feature unstable. To maintain system stability
interrupt remapping is being disabled. Please
contact your BIOS vendor for an update
I redouble my suggestion you pare down loaded modules to try and isolate this.
Also, I see that it looks at the microcode
    Apr 29 07:49:48 lore kernel: microcode: CPU0 sig=0x106a5, pf=0x1, revision=0x11
    Apr 29 07:49:48 lore kernel: microcode: CPU1 sig=0x106a5, pf=0x1, revision=0x11

    Apr 29 07:49:48 lore kernel: microcode: CPU4 sig=0x106a5, pf=0x1, revision=0x11
    Apr 29 07:49:48 lore kernel: microcode: CPU5 sig=0x106a5, pf=0x1, revision=0x11
    Apr 29 07:49:48 lore kernel: microcode: CPU6 sig=0x106a5, pf=0x1, revision=0x11
    Apr 29 07:49:48 lore kernel: microcode: CPU7 sig=0x106a5, pf=0x1, revision=0x11
But I don't see it being updated.  That might be normal for your processor, but double check that and ensure you have the microcode update stuff installed in the boot loader correctly.

Was discussed here - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors/709022 - in Feb 2013. And Bug #738661 was filed in March of 2012, with the consensus being.
'''"In that case this is more likely a bug in Covenant Eyes than it is a bug in Firefox. If we have no hope of success through engaging with Covenant Eyes and can't blocklist the offending DLL from loading, can we at least get a support article posted instructing users how to work around this issue (ie. removing Covenant Eyes or switching to a different browser)?'''
'''Additionally, I don't see much point in keeping this bug in the NEW state if it's unreasonable to expect that we'll ever fix this."'''

  • Whatwhere is the plug-incontainer? happened to the plug-in container? it disappeared with the latest version and now firefox freezes multiple times each day.

I don't see the plug-in container in the Windows Task manager since the last update of Firefox and now FF is freezing multiple times a day (since the previous update, before yesterday's). It takes several minutes after I see this until it unfreezes, and it's quicker to "end task" and re-start Firefox than wait. This most often seems to happen when the computer's been idle for awhile, rather than when I'm using it.

Make sure that you allow the plugin-container process in the firewall.
