Must start FF in safe mode.get parsing error

Except for safe mode.I can't open Firefox. See message below.
In safe mode,if I check the box #4,default to Firefox settings.I can get in. This started in the spring,happened after update.From then to now,I've been using FLOCK.It's a good browser,for the last 9 months.I've used Firefox for a few years.I just didn't want to blow a lot of time. Now with all the hype of FF4,I want to be ready.to use it.I've completely removed and reinstalled three times.I use xp/sp3. Flock and I/E open with no problem. I used FF a few days ago in safe mode,worked excellent .Following day I couldn't open FF. so I went back to Flock.I am now doing this in safe mode. Had to do a reset to my settings both times. Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

I use Session Manger and love this add on. Now for some reason I must start Firefox in Safe Mode and then close it and then reopen normally and it appears that session manger is causing this problem. How do I fix this??

I'm not using that extension, so I do not know which files are used in addition to sessionstore.js and you need to check the profile folder yourself for suspect files.
This can be a problem with the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] 
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak and any existing files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js .

In the text you say you are using Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard will not operate on a G4 (or any Mac with a PowerPC processor). Leopard OS 10.5 is the max OS for PowerPC processor Macs. Your profile shows OS 10.5.6. What OS are you using (or trying to use)?
Will the PB boot using a systen install DVD?

If you have a external USB enclosure - trying installing your hard drive in that enclosure and connect it to your usb port - restart your macbook while holding down the options key. If you Macbook boots to your desktop then you have a faulty cable. If you get the same error, then your hard drive just died on you.

Okay, I solved my own problem. Figured I'd post it here, just in case it might help someone else. Though, it probably won't. My set-up is pretty rare.
My keyboard isn't plugged into my computer. It's plugged into my monitor, which has 4 USB ports. Evidently, those USB ports don't get loaded until too late in the start-up process, for me to take advantage of start-up commands.
When I plugged the keyboard directly into the computer, it worked fine.

IMac won't start up in safe mode

When attempting to startup in safe mode the grey progress bar runs to about 1/3 of the way then drops out & am stuck on the grey screen again.
Tried starting up in safe mode with report Shift-Cmd-V
Lots of tech jargon so am not sure what to look for or how to rectify it (short of reinstalling system discs)
the last 3 lines are as follows (if that's any help)...

Yes, I have backed up and deleted old files using target disk mode with an old macbook. It's just the larger files I didn't have enough space and disks for. I really appreciate your help on this as I've never had any mac issues before this so am not really sure what to look for.

Help: Can't start up in Safe Mode!

I'm trying to fire up in Safe Mode to do a few Spotlight housekeeping tasks but my Mac won't have it. When I try start up Safe it gets no further than the Grey Apple Logo and spinning wheel. After a short while the fans spin up to full speed and nothing else happens. I have to force the Mac to shut down and I can then start up again normally.
Any help on this would be much appreciated as there may come a time when I NEED to start up in Safe Mode.

Might want to try a Single User mode boot (command +s) and run fsck.
-Startup in Single User mode.
-At the command-line prompt, type */sbin/fsck -fy*. Press Return.
fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
-If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED
Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command again, until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
-When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.
-Your computer should start up normally and allow you to log in.
After this, try a Safe mode boot, again.
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

Why does my macbook pro only start up in safe mode?

Last night i updated my macbook pro, and when it restarted it stopped at the logo with the spinning wheel, and it kept spinning for 20+ minutes. I shut it down by holding the button, and it will not start up again, every time the wheel just keeps spinning. I tried holding down shift, and starting it in safe mode, and that seemed to work. But that is the only way it will boot up, and I am limited to what I can do. How can I start my macbook pro up with out safe mode. I do not have my installation disk with me, and I do not have any of my stuff backed up, but I plan on purchasing a external hard drive within the next week to back up everything, incase I have to wipe my hard drive. But I will only do that at last resort...

MacBook Pro 3,1 15' 2,2 Core 2 Duo Late 2007.
I used the same buss speed (667 mhz) and the same type DDR2. Same number of pins.
I also checked what happened with 0 ram in slots, and then it started blinking constantly.
So it must see the RAM but the RAM seems useless for some reason...

Okay. This all makes sense now. And why the OP originally thought after chimes. He is right. San Lewy, I always thought you couldn't do it through bluetooth as well. From CNET:
If any inputs are being sent via the Bluetooth keyboard before the controllers are active, then they will not be recognized by the system. However, if these inputs are performed after the controllers are activated, then they will be properly read. Therefore, for Bluetooth keyboards, be sure to press the desired key sequences after you hear the boot chimes and not before.

If running 10.7 or later hold down Command-R at Startup.
This should invoke recovery Mode.
Choose Disk Utility.
Select your Hard drive. Inspect the SMART Status in the lower right of the window for "Verified".
Select the Mac OS X Volume (originally Macintosh HD) click (Repair Disk)
If errors, run again until it comes clean or gets stuck.
Report any error messages.

Firefox only starts in windows safe mode

Hello. Yesterday Firefox was working fine however last night windows installed some updates and ever since then I when I try to click on to Firefox, it does not start. When i click on the toolbar it will flash as if it's about to start up but nothing happens. I've tried doing a system restore, fully uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, disabling firewalls and doing malware tests / removals and firefox is still not loading up.
However firefox will start in Windows safe mode.
Does anyone know how I can get it to start up?

Hello denos1977, if firefox works in Windows Safe mode then probably you have problem with other software, like security software or maybe a system driver, that is running on your computer, disable antivirus and other security software also.
did you try to open firefox in firefox safe mode, by holding down the shift key while starting Firefox ?

And will not start up in safe mode. I have reset PRAM and SMC. Also restarted with no startup items, no luck. Had the problem of waking from sleep and not shutting down in 10.7, updated to 10.8 hoping for fix, no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, this log has some similarities to my ipod touch which seems to be not sleeping properly due to wireless issues. Can I check - are you using a wifi connection - if so have you tried ethernet?

Your site recommended that I start Firefox in "safe mode," but despite following the steps, I could not do so, why?

I have used Firefox as my browser for more than seven years, maybe ten.
After the two recent "updates" over the last six weeks or two months, Firefox has been horrible.
It constantly hangs and crashes, cannot access certain basic website, slows start-up, use, and shutdown, and, according to AVG, is using massive memory. Two weeks ago, AVG actually came out and directly recommended that Firefox be completely disabled.
I tried the Firefox recommendation to reset Firefox to default settings. It didn't work.
I tried the Firefox recommendation to start Firefox in "safe mode." But despite following their instructions as to how to do so, I could not start Firefox in safe mode; it just bounced back to the recommendation page.
It seems that Firefox has destroyed itself, and made itself completely unusable as a browser.
At this point, I see little alternative to removing Firefox completely from my computer and changing to Internet Explorer as my browser.
Has anyone had a similar experience, and similar problems, or does anyone have any ideas as to how I can try to salvage Firefox and restore it as a usable browser? Thanks to all who have any comments or ideas.

No start up or safe mode?

I had a problem last week when updating to 10.4.7 from 10.4.6. Have erased everything from my powerbook G4, Zeroed all data & done a fresh reinstall from 10.4 install disk.
I have then started up ok & updated to 10.4.6 using the combo updater.
Now i cannot even start up, i have a had a weird noise @ start up & then a flashing sleep indicator light.
Now all i get at start up is the blue bar going along real slow & when it reaches the end, nothing happens, no login just the blue bar still glowing.
Does anyone know what i could try to do? I have tried to start up in 'Safe Mode' but i cannot seem to get this to work!

are you sure you don't have the apple hardware test?? it could be on a disk that says "additional software" that came with your computer. this may have a diagram of how you access your ram. you don't specify which model you have exactly. how many inches is the display??http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/DeveloperNotes/Macintosh_CPUs-G4/15inchPowerBookG4/4Expansion/chapter_5_section2.html of course, only try removing the ram if there was ram added to your computer. Thank you, I had forgotten about target mode. I was able to back up all of my files. I also copied some additional 50 GB of files of the disk as a stress test and the hard drive worked fine and quick (and because it was quicker than retrieving the same files from a network drive to my desktop).
I was hoping to also unpack the Applejack files on my desktop and put them back so I could run them in single user mode without running /etc/rc. However I haven't been able to get my Linux desktop to mount the iBook in Read-Write instead of Read-Only yet (I don't have access to another Mac at the moment).
