Must touch speaker phone to be able to use ipone
Hello all,
My wifes' iphone 4S is driving her crazy. She uses it as a phone with no headsets, nor bluetooth. When she answers a call, she cannot hear the calling party until after she hits the speaker phone button. People cannot hear her answer either. But when she touches speaker phone all reverts to normal operation.

Also, have you tried a Reset... you will not lose any data or settings and has been known to cure many ills...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

When you enable it in the settings - it should attach your Apple ID for you. If you want to use another email address - you can do that in the settings as well.

I am not able to purchase any upgrades on my Ipod, music, movies, videos, or anything because it says my security code is invalid. I am not sure if I am using the wrong numbers or if there is something wrong with my account. I have tried to change my apple Id and my password. Other times I am able to sign on to my Ipod with my user ID and password to do an update and it says there is a billing problem with a previous purchase. then you can tap continue and view further info, and when I do this it takes me to my account settings page with the info that I originally set up my Ipod with. I no longer have that same credit card and would like to remove it from account and update with a new one, but have not been sucessful in doing this by using my Ipod. Can I do this online somewhere? Can anyone help me out?

I had two iphone 4 that were a part of my verizon account. both the phones were stolen and are apparently still being used. the device id for the white 4s is 99000267591838 and the black iphone4 A100003605d73e. Is there any way apple can check with verizon with my permission and verify and at least make the devices unusable to theives?

Perhaps you didn't a actually buy an "unlocked" iPhone, you just bought one "without contract" - they are both "full price".

My iPhone 5 frequently crackles and pops loudly during calls (while using speaker phone, as well as not using speaker phone.) After being inspected by techs at the Genius Bar, my phone has been replaced twice; thus, I am currently on my third iPhone 5. Incredibly, I am, yet again, experiencing the exact same issue. Short of getting my fourth iPhone, is anyone aware of a solution?
if it's the exact same issue, either it's a problem with your service or with your software if you're restoring from a backup each time. it's pretty darn near impossible for 3 phones to have the same exact hardware issue, so that's unlikely. is this an at&t iphone? if so, are you continuing to use the same sim card? if so, get a new one and try that out. if that's not the issue, restore the phone as new and make a few phone calls. if the issue's gone away, there's something wrong with your backup

Speaker works, but no sound when using iPhone handset and no typing sounds
Hello, This is the 2nd time this has happened to my iPhone in the last month...
When I type a text message, lock the phone, slide to unlock the phone, start up the phone, use the iPhone itself to talk to someone on the phone, etc - the sound does not work...
It does work using the bluetooth headset and it also works on speaker phone (I am able to hear my calls). The ringer for my alarm clock works, but not when someone calls me. The ipod is not working either - I am unable to hear songs.
The silence switch is not turned on (on the side of the phone) and I've checked the other settings as well... I also restored my phone last night hoping that might work and I've reset the settings on the phone as well...
Can anyone please help me with this issue?

i was downloading the latest software upgrade when the message "Itunes has detected an Iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this phone before it can be used with Itunes" came up. My option of I phone recovery mode says that it will restore the Iphone to factory mode losing all information.
is there anything I can do to prevent this?If the iPhone is in recovery mode, all data is already lost.

... I should be able to use iBooks. However, I can't. When I try to download the app I get the message that I must upgrade to iOS7 - but then Apple's website won't let me download that either. So far, I have managed to download a book to iTunes on my PC, but I cannot get it to sync with my iPod, although I have synced music, a video and a few other apps. I cannot seem to find a solution to my problems with iBooks or iOS7. Please advise.

PS I also cannot get the app for Podcasts.Having the same issue here. I unfortunately purchased a book on iTunes, then went to download iBooks, but can't due to their recent update/upgrade. My kids iTouchs are all 6.1.5 , So I'm guessing that if you did not have iBooks previously purchased that you are now S.O.L. if you want to read a book on your iPod??
I am rather frustrated that I spent money on a book that they can't read.

First of all, I would have to say that getting in touch with you is a nightmare and I am not at all happy that I can't just email or live chat with someone who can help! I am not a technical person, I just want to be able to use Photoshop Elements and get on with it. I bought Photoshop Elements via Amazon some months ago and it worked fine. I then got a message that advised that the trial version would expire, which it subsequently has (I have been trawling your site for weeks and weeks trying to find an email or phone contact to get some assistance). Relucltantly, I am now typing this - and I suspect it will not help in the slightest! I bought the FULL not TRIAL edition of Photoshop Elements and I have contacted Amazon who confirmed this, but say I need to contact you. Can you please let me know how I can resolve this? HT4623 AFTER UPDATING, MY SPEAKER PHONE STOPPED WORKING?
How do I fix the problem of not being able to hear Siri, Music, Voice thru my speaker phone? Problem occured after doing latest software update. Phone has been reset to default settings and powered down and still no resolve. What more do I need to do?
That is what I found out to be, FF 21 was not compatible with Avast 7 because I uninstalled the Avast twice as told in the help section before I got in touch with Avast before it worked with Avast 8, but it also installed the Chrome, which I always declined before when asked. This time I was not given a choice and installed, so I figured I had to have it, I will use it as long as Avast works since I have the paid version, but I still don't like it. Hope you have more luck and let us know if the older version of FF works for you with the Avast 8. I'm just tired of my computer not running the way I wanted.

Am I wrong.... does the phone have a timer for speaker phone.. the person I was speaking with kept saying "Whats that?"

Have you tried pressing the power button because most devices don't wake up until the power button is pressed for softy reasons...

I use a bluetooth headset with iPhone 5 but when I ask Siri to read my email she says I must unlock my phone first. If I take the phone out of my pocket I might as well just read the email from the phone screen. Is there a way to fix this so the phone doesn't have to be unlocked?
Apple, as I'm sure you know, now manage official phone 'unlocks' directly rather than the Newtork doing so.
When a GSM Network Provider buys a consignment of iPhone's they are locked to that carrier and may only be officially unlocked if said carrier requests it. If so, it is Apple who do this, via iTunes.
I am therefore inclined to think that part of the any generic iTunes syncing process involves the transmission of key hardware data, including IMEI, to Apple whenever the handset is synced.
If this is the case and, as each iTunes account is linked to a credit card, were Apple to maintain a database of genuinely stolen phones (ones reported to Police) they could advise said Police force when a stolen phone stuck its metaphorical head over the parapets once again? They would be able to identify the name & address of the new user.
I have spoken to the Police here in Ireland today and they regularly engage with Apple on such matters.
This may not be tracking as we know it Jim, (not using GSM Triangulation or GPS) but it's arguably even more targetted and leaves an indelible fingerprint of guilt on the thief.
The laws here are simple in this regard, if you are in possession of stolen property, knowlingly or otherwise, you forfeit the goods once the Police show up. Whether you get prosecuted depends on whether you stole the goods or were duped into purchasing them.
