Mutiple iPads (30 of them) and App Purchases

Curious as to how others are dealing with the App Store purchasing Model. We have roughly 30 iPads we are in the process of deploying. We require the employee create and Apple ID using their work email address and they purchase apps under that name. Now they leave the company and I redeploy the iPad after wiping. We now have to purchase a new round of apps in a never ending process. A great model for Apples pocket book however not realistic for the business.
Another approach we started down was to have one Apple ID that was considered the master, we the iPad was initially setup. If apps were needed they would need to be purchased under this ID or go to a kiosk machine we had setup and make the purchases from there on the mast Apple ID that had been charged up with Credits. This way if someone did leave, the unit could be wiped however the apps would all be back for the next person.
Correct me if I am wrong here. You can authorize the apps on up to 5 machine, however one Apple ID could have unlimited number of devices? Meaning if I had 30 devices, could I tie them all to the same Apple ID and never run into a snag with the authorization of the apps?
Curious how others are dealing with this. Also I have found that even though I have charged up my account with iTunes credits, when I gift something to one of our employees, it will charge my credit card rather than pull from the credits. Obviously Apple has some work to do for Enterprise credits for users.

Allow me to clarify here. I didn't mean to say I only want to purchase the app once and place it on 30 iPads, I just don't want to purchase the same app 1000 times for the 30 iPads as are rotated between employees as they come and go. Th only thing I could think of is make 30 generic apple ID's, then at minimum the core apps we always use like Keynote, would always be available to the iPad. Mainly I'm trying to prevent us from purchasing the same app over and over again. the iPad is the companies property and the app is as well, however when they leave and the device is reissued to a new person with a new Apple ID, gone are the apps.

You can contact iTunes and ASK for a refund. Then make make an exception to their all sale are final policy.

In the future set the restrictions so that in-app purchases are prohibited and that a password is always required.

The recommended solution for most families is to share the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, so you can share your purchases, but us different IDs for iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud.  With this arrangement, each person can automatically download purchases made on the shared ID (by turning this feature on in Settings>iTunes & App Stores), while keeping their FaceTime calls, text messages and iCloud data (including photo stream) separated.  There is no requirement that the ID you use for purchasing be the same as the ID you use for these other services.

  • IPads in Educations: Schools and Apps

    Hi,
We are a school in Ireland and would be considered a 'Digital School'. We've been using tablet PC's for teaching for years and now are interested in iPads. However, being an avid Apple supporter I believe Apple are not yet ready for the educational sector as per their conditions of use.
    The way it is:
All teachers should have their own account for their iPad and if they want apps they have to buy them and only legally share 5 times (what school has 5 teachers).
Students may have to pay for this apps too.
Teachers cannot see what the students are doing on their iPad, they may as well be using a phone in class i.e. games, messenging etc.
    The way it should be:
Teachers can use a viewer to see what the kids are lookig at i.e. SmartSync on a PC.
All iPads should be able to enter a 'digital classroom' where once they i.e. input their code, they can only usewhat the teacher designates. We'd a trial with the iPad and a small number of students and low and behold didn't his friend in England try to Skype him mid-lesson. This would create HAVOC if all kids were at it. Apple don't see that kids are kids. They WILL play games when bored in class. This is only a preventative measure. Additionally, by 'signing' into the class, it acts as a registration for the class AND combat truancing.
Schools should be able to set up a special type of account. Let's pretend the name of our school is Conor High School. The schools can buy their apps from the account e.g. [email protected]  However, on the apple website, the ICT co-ordinator can link other apple ID's to this account BUT they have to have the same domain e.g [email protected]. That way, apps can be shared in a better and legal manner. Perhaps when the school buys an app, if a 5 licence (currently the norm) 99c then a school licence is perhaps €1.99 or whatever. This would mean that staff can update the apps from their own account, no illegal sharing of the app 52 times (teacher number in my school) and be easier on the IT support. However, ONLY the IT Support guy can purchase the apps from the schools account therefore staff are not buying hunderds of apps for personal use. If they want to, what they click buy it comes from their own account.
There are LOADS more issues that i've experienced if Apple want this to properly succeed. A lot of schools are trying the iPad but they are now trying Android devices too because they have more freedom when it comes to things like this. Apple MAY lose out big time if they don't properly accomdate the needs of a real school, not the theoretical school we all use in our minds when planning things.

You can write the same n the feedback form, that is already been provided in the above posts or else call customer support team and discuss with them with this issue

  • Can wife's iPad use my music and apps if authorized?

We have a new iPad for my wife but set up under my name to get all our apps and music already purchased under my name.  Can I authorize her iPad so she can use my music and apps but set it up under her name on iPad?  Since it is currently under my name we can't use FaceTime. I think the iPad FaceTime thinks I am trying to call myself when I try to FaceTime my iPhone.  Please advise. Thank you

So, I should keep the ipad signed in as me and then just change Facetime to have her email.
Yes. You can add another email address as her "contact at" email address (Apple will verify the email address) and then you can uncheck (remove the checkmark) next to your Apple ID email address on her iPad and she can begin using the new email address for FaceTime.
I have 4 devices setup using my Apple ID for shared purchases (including my Mac) and I can FaceTime with all 4 of them - from all 4 of them.

  • If I change my Apple ID, can I get my iTune and App purchases transferred from the old to the new ID?

I have a child who is now of age to create an Apple ID.  If I create a new Apple ID, can I tranfer the iTune and App Store purchases from my existing Apple ID to the new one for my child?

No, it's not currently possible to transfer content from one account to another account - all items remain tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded them, so they will remain tied to your account.
As long as your account is authorised on the computer's iTunes that he/she syncs to, and those items are in its library, then he/she should be able to continue to have them on their device (though only your account will be able to download updates to those apps)

  • Music and Apps Purchased on iPad, sync to computer???

Hey, I'm very new and don't understand how this works. I've downloaded a few albums and a bunch of apps directly through WiFi on my Ipad. If I sync to my computer, will all of the apps and music be gone on the Ipad? I just want to make sure there's a backup... thanks! I've also downloaded one album to iTunes on my PC. Can I put that album on my ipad?
Message was edited by: Mickey Rooney

Ok, because I synced it originally on my laptop and then I took it to work and authorized that computer also. After that, I ripped all of my cd's and transfered it to my ipad. After that I backed up the library on my work computer and transferred it to my laptop. I am trying to use my laptop as the main device... ok, so I'll manually transfer all of the purchases and then sync. Wish me luck!

  • Ipad: i-books and Apps purchase button not operational

Until this wk, Apps and i-books on my Ipad 3 have worked fine.  Now, when I select an App or i-book to purchase it takes me to the usual green button to 'get App' or 'buy book' and when I press it, nothing happens.  I don't have any restrictions on, and have shut down my ipad several times as possible remedies.  i-tunes is working fine.  Any suggestions?

You are signed into your Apple ID in Settings>Store>Sign In? Are you trying to buy apps that are not compatible with your iOS? Your iOS is pretty old of your tag line is correct.

  • Ave been using an ipad for si have been uongs, and app purchases, using my wifes apple id. now i have a new apple lap top, i am wondering why would i get my own id as opposed to keeping "ours"

i have been using an ipad for songs, apps, etc, i now am migrating to a mac book, my question is, i have been using my wifes apple id for all of our purchases, sharing, etc.  now that i have a laptop, i am wondering, why should i get my own user id or why would i not just continue on using our common id?
she worries about us taking up too much space in the cloud, which i am not using yet but will learn

i dont know why you would make a separate account either if you have been getting on fine before, unless you need to talk to your wife with iMessage or something
if you do run out of cloud storage it's probably cheaper to just upgrade it than make your own apple id and have to buy everything again

  • I have 2 iPads, 2 Apple IDs, and have purchased a number of apps 2 times including Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, etc. Apparently I have mixed and matched Apple IDs such that I cannot in-app purchase on either copy due to wrong ID....?

So the question is how do I disaggregate these such that iPad 1 has all of, and only, the apps associated with its Apple ID and iPad2 has all of, and only, the apps associated with its Apple ID? I am happy to restore but not sure that would fix the problem - this seems like it would be an Apple ID issue.

Let me also note that if the response is that I need to buy e.g. Angry Birds what would be a 4th and 5th time I can promise Apple will receive no more money from me.

  • Multiple Apple ID's and app purchases

    Hi all,
I have an Apple ID that I have used to purchase apps for my Ipad and existing Ipod Touch over the last couple of years.  Our son received an Ipod Touch for Christmas and we set him up with his own Apple ID and an associated gift card balance he got as a gift.  There are a few apps that I purchased on my Ipad that he would like to have on his new Ipod.  Is there a way to get those apps on to his Ipod Touch or do we have to buy them again just for his Ipod?
Could I log into his new Ipod Touch with my Apple ID and install these old purchases?  If I did that, would I be able to log him back into his own Apple ID after that?
Going forward, is there anyway for me to rectify this so all of our devices can be tied to a master Apple ID for iTunes purchases across devices?

  • Conflict with passwords and app purchase

suggestion and found a phone number for Navigon andI called the PHONE number (866-273-4271) and SPOKE to Britton.
It seems that Apple has caused some addresses to switch there main ID position. For example my cox.net and Mac.com.
    1.  He had me go into " settings" on my iPhone 4S and down to "Store (iTunes)"
    2.  Under settings -- Store -- at the bottom is:  " Apple ID: [email protected]
Mine said mac.com  and it should have said:  cox.net. Somehow that was changed and NOT by me.
    3.  He had me tap the address and it brought me to the screen that included options such as:  Sign Out. This allowed me to change back to cox.net. I still have two different accounts with iTunes and two different passwords. This problem started when Apple said I needed to strengthen my password by using numbers, letters and CAPS. Up till that time, I had only one password and it worked on both accounts. Now I have two passwords as I said before. A new one for cox.net and the old original password for Mac.com.
    4.  After my iTunes Apple ID was changed back to cox.net I was able (after he had me delete the existing copy of Navigon on my computer), to go to my previous purchases on my Mac computer and download my original purchase made in 2009 ( under cox.net).
This was an iTunes problem, not Navigon. iTunes should have been able to solve the problem. As I have said many times, this could have been solved on my first contact if we could have spoken to each other on the phone.
This problem could happen to me again because I have purchased  apps under both accounts.

Sorry, but I don't think there is a way to fix this. But I believe it only last 30 minutes, at most.
