Mutiple track recording on Audigy ZS Platinum using electric gui

Hi, I hope that someone can help me... When i ordered my Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with my computer I was told that I would be able to record mutiple tracks of guitar so that I could creat music, and so far I have only been able to record one track. I want to be able to record the rhythm track, and the the lead, and the some other filler tracks so that I can create my own music. Is this possible or was I mislead? Help me please!!David

Which sequencer/multitracking software are you using there?
There is a guide for "Creating Music" installed (see the menu path start-programs-Creative-Audigy....) or lying in the CD (\Audio\Setup\GuideBk\...).
Some freeware software:
Kreati've Kristal - http://www.kreati'ves.org/kristal/ (for MIDI you need Hermann Seib's VSTHost + Legree (search from KVR)
Cockos Reaper (v. up to 0.999 freeware, .0 --> shareware) - http://www.cockos.com/reaper/index.php
Sony ACID Express - http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/download/step2.asp?DID=55
Mutools LUNA Free - http://www.mutools.com/products.html
etc.
When you record 2nd and etc. tracks, do not use "What U Hear" (or ASIO Mix L) as an input source (this source records all previous tracks into the track you're recording and this is not what u want). You get the lowest latency by using ASIO drivers so read the guide I mentioned (some information on ASIO too).

  • Audigy 2 Platinum used to work fine, now it doesn'

    Hi,
I've been using my audigy 2 Platinum to record myself playing guitar for the past 2 years. I have my guitar amp hooked up (via send input on the back of the amp) to the Line In 2 (MIC IN 2) input. Lots of the time ill be up late recording stuff, so i turn my master volume down on the amp (so it doesn't come out of the amp) and just have it come out of my pc speakers. This time, the sound thats comming out of the speakers is just ugly noise. When i'm not playing anything it just hums. When i play something it just sounds like crap. I thought at first it might just be the speakers, so i recorded something and listend to it on different speakers, sounded exactly the same. So next thing i tried was a different guitar amp. Same thing. So i then opened up my tower to see if anything looked strange, everything looks fine. Next i uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers thinking that might help, sure enough, no help. I came here and read the FAQs and tried anything that sounded like it might help. Still havn't the same problem. I am completly baffled now. Is it possible i could have damaged it the last time i used it's If anyone has any ideas for me please let me know. I am running WinXP service pack 2. Thanks
Edit. I have also tried different cables.Message Edited by zedfour on 09-20-2005 02:24 AMMessage Edited by zedfour on 09-20-2005 07:25 PM

    Hi Louie,
Thanks for confirming that is the correct directory.  I agree cloning directories isn't the proper solution and would like to help identify what actually went wrong.  Perhaps a mapping was removed from CF Admin.  It's intriguing that expandPath('/secure') resolves to the proper directory but <cfobject name="getreqstatus" component="secure.common.getreqstatus"> throws an error that it can't find the getreqstatus.cfc that's located in secure's "common" subdirectory.
Just to be clear, is C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev the website's root directory?  And is there also an Application.cfc file at C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\Application.cfc as well as the one at at C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure\Application.cfc?
Could you create a file named bar.cfm w/ this code?
    <cfscript>
      writeOutput(expandPath("/secure"));//should return "C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure"
      writeOutput("<br>" & expandPath("/secure/common"));//should return "C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure\common"
      writeOutput("<br>" & expandPath("/secure/common/getreqstatus.cfc"));//should return "C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure\common\getreqstatus.cfc"
      writeOutput("<br>" & fileExists(expandPath("/secure/common/getreqstatus.cfc")));//should return "YES"
      writeDump(var=new secure.common.getreqstatus(), format="text");//should return "[cfc1] component secure.common.getreqstatus"
    </cfscript>
Then could you place a copy of that file at C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\bar.cfm and C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure\bar.cfm, and then run both (so basically, www.yourdomain.com/bar.cfm and www.yourdomain.com/secure/bar.cfm) and see what is displayed?
Edit: Please rename or remove the cloned directories (i.e. the /secure/common within the calling routine's directory) before running the above.
    Thanks!,

  • Multi-track Recording with Audigy (input level adjustment of 6 tracks)

    Hi,
Has anyone used an Audigy (or similar) to record more than 2 channels?
I have an Audigy 4, which I use for 24 bit recordings. Usually I just use 2 channels, and an ASIO4ALL v2 interface which probably uses the "WDM:SB Audigy 4 Audio [D880]" driver.
However, there's another driver I can select which is "SB Audigy 4 ASIO 24/96 [D880]", and this gives me 6 input channels corresponding to the R and L channels of the inputs line , 2 and 3. This is great, and seems to work OK, but whereas I can control the levels of the incoming signals (on line 3 L/R) with the 2 channel driver, the Creative surround mixer doesn't have any control over the input levels in the 6 channel case, so I'm stuck with having to adjust the level of the incoming signal externally.
Has anyone found a solution to this difficulty? I've updated to the latest drivers.
I'm using Windows XP pro. and the recording software is n-Track 5.1.
    Thanks,
    Peter

HI, I dont know if anyone has had this happen to them or not. I Have a MODEL # SB0090 Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy with 394 PCI Sound Card with the front controls. I have used it for years. I just re-loaded it into a new computer and loaded the new driver. When I had the old driver loaded I got a very harsh repeated ......BLAP.....BLAP.......BLAP.......BLAP it was very nasty and sounded like a cd skipping. I loaded the new driver and that got rid of the BLAP skipping thing. Now with the new driver when I bring up the windows play and record controls and when I have the Mutes all off and say for example AUX 2 selected, as soon as I arm the track in Sonar the AUX 2 on the windows play control auto mutes right before my eyes I can then de-select mute and the track stays armed, BUT as soon as I hit record it will auto mute again yet the meters still move and it still records and I am able to de-select mute again while recording and it does not effect the recording. It is a very big hassle during a recording project. ANY IDEAS WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!
Are you using ASIO (or asio4all), WDM/KS or MME32 on Sonar?
Not sure but have you checked how the "Record Without Monitoring" (or similiarly named ) option is set (Start menu, Run..., sndvol32 /r).
On Sonar you may need to enable Input ECHO ( [color="#339966"][)))]? button on track headers).

  • X-Fi Platinum Multiple track record

??I have been doing a little reading on the forum for multiple track recording but I could not find anything specific enough for what i need. I have a Fostex digital recorder and i would like to either send out the multiple tracks of say a drum recording to multiple tracks on Majix Music Studio ten. I have been playing around with it but i cant find exactly what I need. Ideally I would like to use the ADAT format from a digital optical cable to bring in the individual wave files directly to the computer. But if?can find a better way or if sombody knows of a fairly inexpensi've digital mixer with at least 6 channels (any input preferably XLR). Also my recorder has SPDIF but only in a two track format. It also has MIDI outputs and inputs but so far I dont think I can use that?for controling my software and sending in multiple tracks. I know my program can do ASIO and WDM. But I dont know what inputs are assigned to what numbers. If any body can awnser any one of these questions please post. ASIO sounds great but how do I identify the track numbers to what input and can i input all the tracks from a digital input?Comp info:?Windows

W/ ASIO, you can record from as many sources as you get listed/selected separetley in ASIO input port list (meaning those w/ names like Line-In, S/PDIF-In, Mic-In, Aux-In since, there are many of those ports meant for internal routings (W-U-H)). I don't know if you can use S/PDIF and analog inputs simultaenously. Here are some detailed information for Creative ASIO drivers (for Audigy cards but ...) - http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=profaudio&message.id=726
I think that Fostex is not very usable for you if you don't build a ADAT system over it. If you have the ADAT option in Fostex already available there and you can get 8 separate channels out from Fostex through it then you could get a soundcard which supports ADAT I/O (something like E-MU 22m ($99 atm.)) and record through Fostex into PC (though, A/D conversion quality Fostex does is propably not very good). Maybe you need more mic-preamps to record drums then too.

  • Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - ...trying to record with Videostudio, Virtual VCR, Roxio DVD Builder

...just bought (and installed) a SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - the one with the "breakout box" - to replace the on-board Dell audio sound system, which seems to have died after 4 months.
I am able to get good, clear sound from any and all applications that use "playback" audio.
At present, I can get "playback sound" from one program feature that came with my capture device - an Aver Media USB 300, which was plugged in to the "Line in 2" socket on the break out box. Then I tried to record with it... - "Record Operation Failure!" I'm stilll waiting to see what responses I get from the Aver message board in that regard.
Then I tried recording video (and the accompanying audio) with Ulead Videostudio 8, Virtual VCR, and Roxio DVD Builder, none of which could record sound, even in "preview mode". Before the on board sound system stopped functioning, those features worked on all of the above programs except for Virtual VCR, which I hadn't yet installed or tried out.
I've checked the Play/Record Volume Control in "Accessories/Entertainment" and the Line 2 is activated and selected. I've tried plugging in to Line /Mic but that hasn't worked either. I need to go to Radio Shack to get an adapter to plug in to Line 3 and give that a try.
But before I spend even more money, have you ever seen anything like this?
    - Jeff.

    Jorge,
Thanks kindly for the suggestion, during the installation it did not complain about this patch being installed allready, I'll give this one more shot and see if it persits.
I ran memtest on the machine (10 cycles) wow this thing (G5) is loud in single user mode. I guess the fans don't have power management enabled.
I'm guessing that the issue is from lack of RAM, (512) but I am not 100% on this. Though my research points towards that, It's kind of odd that an app would reach into some other memory segment.
    Thank You Again.
I throught all Tiger updates would be obtainable via "Software Update" . I should have searched support.apple.com first.

  • Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro in Vista x64: "Skipping" (Distortion) when record

Hi! I've just setup Vista x64 and installed the latest Drivers for my Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro. Besides the fact that there's no software available for convenient control of the features of my soundcard (Surround Mixer, Speaker Settings, THX Console etc.), everything is fine for playback (after adjusting the bass and treble-sliders to their 0dB-Position!). But I've got a massive problem when recording audio, or when using the microphone: I can play back sound from any source without distortion, but when recording it or using the microphone for VoIP-Applications like Skype, Teamspeak or In-game communication, I get a constant "skipping" distortion like the clicking when a CD is defective and skips.
It sounds like short disruptions which come at regular, very short intervals (approx. 0 per second or so). This effect is always present, irrespective of the load situation of the system and does not change with it. In XP32, my Audigy 2ZS still works like a charme. Furthermore, I've got a "PCI Input Device" in Device Manager with a question mark, although the Firewire-Port does work. Could this be the Gameport not beeing recognised But that's not nearly as problematic as the flaw from above... Thanks in advance for your advice!

I'd like to also add that I have been observing this same problem for quite some time now. While I do not frequently have a need to record, that is changing now and I would rather not have to reboot to Windows XP in order to have functional recording capabilities.
I am currently running a dual-boot configuration of Windows XP/SP2 and Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit/SP, with the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum soundcard, and the latest drivers available for the card as of today's date (0/7/2008).
A clip of audio to illustrate the problem may be heard by saving and playing the MP3 file found at http://ambress.com/audigy/audio_recording_fault.mp3. The following graphic also illustrates how the sound is like a series of recorded pulses, making recording completely useless.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback confirming this problem by Creative and what solution is available or when one is to be expected. If a solution is known by any users that perhaps I have missed in searching the forum, of course I'd be grateful for that help as well.
    Thank you,
    Daryl

I'm trying to record audio into my iPad2 using GarageBand and an iRig, but I can't monitor my tracks at the same time as recording, meaning if I lay down a drum track and attempt to record guitar, I can't hear the drums while recording. Thoughts?

Hi, I have this exact same problem. I haven't been using an iRig, just a cheap USB-jack cable. I managed to do this with the first cable I bought, but since it broke I've been unable to find a replacement that allows me to hear the drums while recording. DId you manage to get over this issue? If so I would really like to know how. Thanks and best wishes.

  • Can one use an Audigy 1 Platinum drive with an Audigy 2 soundca

I'm thinking of upgrading from an Audigy soundcard to an Audigy 2 or greater, but I don't want to lose the functionality of my Audigy Platinum dri've, nor have to buy an Audigy 2 with a Platinum dri've, if I can avoid doing so.
Is it possible to just upgrade my Audigy soundcard to an Audigy 2 card and be able to continue using the same Audigy Platinum dri've with it's I've looked at a picture of the Audigy 2 Platinum dri've, and I can't tell a difference between that one and the Audigy version.

    Pulseczar,
Those I/O dri've from Audigy series isn't compatible with Audigy 2 series card.

  • Using a 4 track recorde with Garageband

I am new to this so forgive me if this sounds stupid.
I have a Yamaha, Mini-disc 4-track recorder. It has MIDI in/out and I have a MIDIsport 1x1 MIDI to USB cable. Is there anyway to send the MIDI signal to garage band or what should I do. I am doing vocal recording only and would like to use My MD 4-tr. recorder. Can these two be used together or is my attempt futile. Thanks

MIDI is not audio, so no.
If your Mac has a Line In, you could use a Line-Out from the 1/4 track recorder which will let you record a stereo track at a time in GarageBand.

  • Using Audigy 2 Platinum with Gigaworks

    Hi All,
    Just a quick query!
I have an Audigy 2 Platinum (not ZS or EX or Pro); it's the one with the white, internally mounted front panel.
I am going to invest in the Gigaworks 7. set plus the DDTS-00 decoder unit.
Does the Audigy 2 Platinum support 7. surround, or will i have to upgrade to the Audigy 4?
    Many thanks
    Jake

I *think* the Audigy 2 platinum is also "just" a 6. card. For the full support of 7. you need either the Audigy 2ZS or the 7. Li've version or... the Audigy 4. But the S750 will work with your current card.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Connecti

I recently began recording my band in our home studio. My mixing board is a Midas Venice 240 which has two balanced XLR outputs from the master bus. I am wondering what method I may use to connect this output to the /4" stereo input on the front panel of the Audigy 2 Platinum. If I just purchase a Y-adapter to combine the two channels into one XLR and then convert it to /4" TRS jack will both channels be preserved? Are there any sound quality issues that arise from this method of connection? I was hoping to get answers to these questions before wasting money buying unnecessary adapters.
    Thanks

The BEST way to do this is to go to radio shack and buy two (yes 2) of their?XLR to /4" Impedence Matching Transformers, AND?one (yes )?dual /4" female TS (tip-sleeve) to single /4" male TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) "Y" cable. Unless your mixer also has /4" main outs as well as the XLR... then you can just use the Y cable and skip the transformers. Or you can use a /8" Y cable with the transformers (and stereo /4 to stereo /8 adapter) and go into the card's line in jack on the actual card. Which is how I did it for a year or more untill i got a firewire recording interface (and it worked darn good too with my Soundcraft mixer and some good microphones). Either way,?you need the transformers for optimal results. The reason is the mixer's output impedence and level doesnt match that of the soundcard's input... mixer will likely overdri've the card, or the signal will sound weak or noisy.. The transformers?are cheap and are darn handy for loads of recording functions, and will provide the Audigy with exactly the type of signal it needs, properly transformed from the mixer. If you do this, you can record ALL of the mixer channels IN STEREO with all the panning, effects, and levels preserved. If you have multitracking software like Cubase or similar, you can even record an individual instrument (or even 2 at once, one panned left, one right... each assigned its own track in your software), come back on a new track (or pair of tracks), and record a different instrumet (or 2) and build a multitrack recording one performance at a time. PS:? you CANNOT just hardwire the mixer outputs and combine them into a single channel. A mixer is needed to properly combine?signals. Don't do it
!!! Have fun... and rock on.PSS:? make sure your overall cable is as short as possible. If you must run it for more than 6 feet then run it in XLR mode and convert it very close to the computer. The non XLR section of cable is an antenna for noise. The XLR section will be shielded against noise. Also, the transformers are kinda heavy so do not plug them into somthing and allow them to hang in the plug becasue the hanging weight will ruin your jack. Its best to run cables to the transformers, allowing them to lay on the floor... in a safe place where they wont get stomped on.

I've just joined, so apologies if I "mess up". I have some precious things on vhs tape, and want to transfer them to cd/dvd. I run Windows XP. I have to use rca connections, don't think there's another option on the vcr. I see the red and white rca connections on the back of the external 2zs, but where does the yellow (video) connection go? Re: connecting vcr to external SB Audigy 2zs Platinum Pro~ Hi Katman - many thanks for the reply. There is no video connection on the SBA2zs that I can find either. I did send mail to Creative, but they haven't had the courtesy to respond. If I use the 2zs for the audio connection, can I then attach the video connection from the vcr to a separate video capture card? Will this bring everything together and in synch? Sorry, I'm still very much on L plates with all this. Once I get things on to the computer, I can then edit out what I don't want, and burn the rest to cd/dvd; or that's what I'm hoping!! It's getting the data from the vcr tape that's the stumbling block. I know there are?expensi've machines that you can put the vhs tape in and it will copy direct to dvd, my friend has one, but she doesn't know whether you can pause the recording (disk) and let the tape continue running till she gets to the next bit she wants to copy, then start the disk again. TIA of further help.

  • Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - breakout box not work

I have an an external external breakoput box which was working fine in my old computer. I upgraded the mother board and cpu and installed the Audigy as before. The actual card works but the break out box doesn't light up. If I plug the external box firewire cable in to another firewire port on the computer the power LED lights but that's all. Any ideas anyone?

I am sorry to bump this topic but it is the same as my question and does not seem to have been answered.
I have a Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - my old one which I decided to use in lieu of the on-board sound. I installed the latest drivers I could find SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0017.exe (after unistalling the existing ones)
The card itself works fine but the external interface box is as dead as a doornail. The power for the interface is supposed to come from the two connectors.
No lights no nothing - obviously I have checked the leads and the seating of the card itself. Playback is fine on MP3, midi, wave files etc. I have disabled the on-board sound in the BIOS of course.
Unfortunately the jacks on the back of the card are 1/8 in. outputs only and the external interface provides the inputs which I need for recording etc. They are 1/4in proper ones - guitar lead size which are much better.
I know it is an old card but I like it. The last time I used in in my old computer it was fine. Card/drivers show up in the device manager. I have installed this both on a Win 7 partition and a Win XP partition on my 2 HDDs with the same result. :mansad:
<font color="#0000FF">Any ideas appreciated! Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks.

    Hello,
When I try to record signal from my stereo microphone (for example sony ecm 959a) and I'm switchng to "mic in" only one channel is recording. When I'm switching to "line in " everything is ok (but then I can't use gain). "Mic in" in Audigy 2 platinum ex is mono or something?
    Thx for help!

    AFAIK it's mono.

I'm surprised you got both channels to work at all.

  • Distortion / Crackles on Audigy 2 Platinum

    Hi all,
Yesterday my Audigy 2 Platinum eX soundcard arri'ved in the post. I'm impressed with the quality, however there is some distortion and "fuzzyness" at some frequencies which is very irritating.
I've tried altering the settings and resetting them to the default but nothing seems to work. At the start of the Kaiser Chief's song "Modern Way" some faint but noticable crackling can be heard. The problem is a lot worse on more complex songs such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers song "Get On Top." On this track it sounds a lot more like distortion than crackling and it's not ignorable.
The problem is not with my speakers. I've tried it with my 5. surround sound, hi-fi speakers and headphones and the distortion can be heard on all of these at all volumes. I think I'm right in saying that this means the problem must be with the card, the card's driver or settings.
I'm running the latest drivers which I obtained from the Creative site.
Anyone else had similar problems or have any suggestions? I'm thinking about sending it back because I'm not very happy.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I have tried:
    - Using different PCI ports
    - Reseating PCI card
    - Reinstalling latest drivers from website
My onboard sound drivers have been uninstalled and the device has been disabled in the BIOS.
    Thanks in advance.
