Mutiroom dvr not working

im subscribed to verizon fios with the multi room dvr and two rooms are not working i cant get access to my recorded programs and when i troubleshoot im asked to call and subscribe, but im already subscribed....i turned everything off but that doesnt work

Turn off  all your set-top-boxes and the router, then turn on the router. wait for the internet light to turn on. next turn on the dvr. once the dvr is getting picture and your guide shows. turn on each remaining boxes and test each one. this will allow the home network to sync properly.

  • DVR not working.

I was watching a recorded show this morning on my QIP6416 DVR.  The show froze while watching.  I could not hit stop, exit, or anything else to get out of the frozen dvr playback.  The only thing that would work was hitting power on the STB.  It turned off, but then it would not turn back on.  It would show I was hitting the power button, but it would not turn back on.
I unplugged it, waited awhile, and then plugged it back in.  Once it restarted, the DVR is not working.  When I hit the DVR button, under recorded programs, it says "Multi-Room DVR encountered a problem while accessing the data from the DVR box.  Make sure the DVR is plugged-in to the power outlet and that you have at leaset one recording available.   If the problem persists, please unplug the power for DVR box and plug it back in and try again."
I've tried resetting my DVR box several times, and it still says the same thing.  When I do a search for this message, I've only ever seen it shown as a problem accessing a DVR program on a non-DVR STB.  But this is my DVR box I'm receiving the message on.
It has no scheduled programs, recorded programs, or any option to record an episode when I go into the guide.  It's almost as if it's not recognizing that the box is a DVR.
Can anyone help me out?  Thanks.

Call back and try again. I had some issues with activation because I believe someone typed in one number wrong for the STB. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I received a call back in 20 min. Activation in 5 min. Problem solved. Oh if someone makes an error on the serial number / card number for your box when it is added to your account, techs can't fix that because it is a sales issue. A supervisor or someone with more access needs to make the correction. Even though the STB or DVR may have been sent by tech support. Most online or tier one support agents do NOT have access to make changes to your account. That includes serial numbers assigned to hardware, and what is on your account. This is for your protection and theirs.
If the numbers do not match for the cable card, they can't talk to it for activation. Some techs may miss that and say it is a bad box. IF THEY DO NOT DOUBLE CHECK THE NUMBERS.

  • Multi room dvr not working in other rooms

My mr dvr is not working in any of my other rooms. It has never worked. I just don't have the time to sit on the phone with tech support.
I have 3 other sd stb in other rooms and I have programs recorded on the dvr that are not in H. So shouldn't i be able to watch these in the other rooms?
When I look at my Fios TV info online it states this "Your STB record cannot be found."
    any help would be appreciated

It is listed on my bill under TV additional services. " home media dvr- high definition" is this just for the actual DVR unit? Do I have to pay for the unit and then pay an additional amount for special programing? If so why wouldn't I have opted for the regular DVR instead of the Multi room dvr? I guess I will be spending most of my night on the phone with verizon!!!!
    thanks for your help.

  • Multi room dvr not working

I signed up for Home Media DVR, however, I have never been able to view recorded programs from the other tv.  After a VERY lengthy phone call with tech support the problem remains unchanged. They had me unplug every set top box and the router and then power them back.  They also did several remote system re-sets... No luck.
The phone call ended with Tech support mistakenly claiming that my router wasn't working (the actual problem with the router was that the wireless settings changed when they asked me to re-set it).  I figured this out on my own, after hanging up.  So, they sent out a new router, which actually doesn't work.  All lights come on as expected except the "internet" light is orange instead of green.
Anyway, the old router is working fine but I can't get the multi room dvr to work.  I saw another post where a Verizon rep replied that they "waived their magic wand" and the problem was resolved!  Still got that magic wand??

  • Multi-Room DVR not working since update other day

I am unable to watch recorded programs in remote locations.  Playback only works in the room with the DVR.  I am able to access DVR menu and programs, when I attemp playback, program immediately freezes and stops playing.  Eveverything was fine until after the update the other night.  I assumed that any programs recorded after the update would work without issue, but they are not either.  I've tried unplugging units, using the "quick fix" feature on Verizon's site and through the set-top box, to no avail.  Any suggestions?

  • Remote DVR not working

I have the multi-room DVR. When I go to Remote DVR on the site and choose Scheduled Programs, it says "Bad Gateway". Going to Recorded Show just says the set top box is not responding. I confirmed the box is powered on and working normally. Can anyone assist?

I had the same issue.  And I'm experiencing frequent picture blackouts.  I can hear the TV, just no picture.  So far, I've been able to shut everything down and restart FIOs TV to get the picture back.  But this is starting to get very annoying.

  • Multi room DVR not working on other STBs

I can not get my DVR to play recorded programs on any STB except the one with the DVR. I have called tech support numerous times. I unplugged the cables and turned on and off the router multiple tuimes. I have rebooted the STB at least ten times. I have been hung up on by tech support once. It is very frustrating that I am paying $20-30 per month for a service I can not use.

Sorry you are having difficulty with your DVR.   An agent with access to your account will reach out to you directly by email, private message in the Forums and/or the billing telephone number on your Verizon account  for more information or help you resolve your issue

  • MR-DVR not working properly

I just got setup with the MR-DVR yesterday -
I am supposed to be getting the multi-room DVR package free as a new customer
The boxes were reset, and I get the menu option for DVR on my second box - non-DVR.
However, when I go to programs is says nothing is recorded ( I have 50% of my DVR filled with recordings).
When I go to list DVRs nothing comes up.
When I run the quick fix program nothing happens.
I have tried unplugging the power on the second box, the technician said he did everything he could think of and that it could taek 10 - 20 minutes for everything to connect up - that was 4pm yesterday.
Am I missing something or has Verizon not set something up correctly?

If your second box is a non-HD one, you will not see HD recordings. You can only see and watch standard def recordings from the seconds non-HD box. To see if this is the case, go to the DV itself and pull up the recorded programs. If this shows 50% free space and theres no recordings, then there is a problem. If you need further assistance, please send me a private message.

  • New 500 GB DVR Multi Room Not working!

I received the new 500 GB DVR this past Friday and set it up over the weekend. I'm having issues with viewing the new content on the new DVR with other STBs.
I've tried rebooting all the boxes and unplug each one but still get the same message that There was error connecting to the DVR STB. It's almost like the boxes are trying to still access the previous DVR. I tried to submit to Verizon Support on Twitter and it's been 3 days without hearing back if they had a solution. They tell me the same cut and paste message they give everyone to DM them on Twitter and here is the link to the form but then you don't hear back at all.
Has anyone else experienced issues with the new 500 GB DVR and Multi Room access?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I switched from a 7216 MR-DVR to a 7232 and had tech support switch the MR feature to the new box, and have no problems. The STBs and DVRs talk to each other on their own little MoCA network. COAX or splitter issues can cause problems. Router not involved. I have MRDVR running and all routing functions are turned off on the Actiontec, and the the WAN ports are not even connected. The Actiontec is bridge LAN to MoCA. My router is a Linux box. The Actiontec does filter STB broadcast traffic from my LAN. It sees no MoCA traffic except for VOD and guide updates. All other UDP broadcast traffic is blocked on the bridge.
The hub errors people were seeing on the older 1.7 img were not HUB as in router related. The hub acts as the master on the MoCA network. Looking at the STB diagnostic menu D16 for "Connected Home" my DVR shows as the hub and is verified by the MAC address my Linux box assigns an IP address to. If you are having Multi Room DVR issues I can almost guarantee that it is not a router issue. Check and make sure you have good quality RG-6 coax and the proper splitter(s). Make sure there is no line loss or interference between the boxes. Also make sure Multi Room is assigned properly only to the DVR wanting to be the Multi Room DVR. It can not be assigned to more than one DVR. Now with the 1.9 image the rules may change, but I am not sure. Right now it is my understanding that only one DVR can be the HUB. Now that may be changing, we will need to wait and see. I believe it will change.
Now back to removing the old DVR and having Multi Room Enabled on your new DVR. You may want to have both DVRs connected so the feature can be disabled on the old DVR and enabled on the new. If you do not do this and reconnect the old DVR you may end up with two trying to act as HUBs. May not work well with 1.8. Not saying I know for sure, and my assumptions are only based on observations. But when I had Multi Room moved from old to new, both my DVRs were connected, and my system works great.

  • Multiroom DVR does not work as expected.

     Short description of my problem:
I can't use the multiroom DVR with the SD receiver I was sent nor another DVR. This leaves me only one option, an HD receiver which costs me more per month but does not give me any other added benefits.
    Long description:
I recently ordered FIOS TV. I was drawn in by the multiroom DVR. I was a DirecTV customer for over 7 years and never had a problem with them (never lost signal in a storm either...). I got an ad that said I could get a free multiroom DVR, which is $19 a month, free for life. With my DirecTV setup, I had a DVR connected to both TVs in my house. I thought it might be nice to watch a recorded show at either one instead of having to watch it on the DVR it was recorded on.
After a frustrating experience with tech support, I finally had my multiroom DVR and standard set top box activated. I recorded something on the DVR and went upstairs to try and watch it. To my surprise, I found out that I could not. I had recorded it in HD and the receiver that had been supplied to me was an SD receiver. At this point I found it stupid that if I wanted to be able to watch a show at both locations, I either had to record it in SD, which looks like crap on an HDTV, or record it in both HD and SD which would use up both of my recording channels for one show. I know that I can upgrade to a HD receiver and watch it on both sets, but if I am going to pay more (just to make something work that was supposed to work for "free"), I might as well pay a little bit extra and get another DVR. I really liked being able to pause and rewind live TV at both locations.
I called sales to place an order for another DVR. Surprise again, a multiroom DVR will not stream to another DVR. So my only option is to have an HD receiver if I want to be able to use the multiroom DVR and not lose functionality. As a result, I have lost 2 channels of recording because I have one less DVR than I used to, and I can no longer pause live TV at one of my TVs. I don't think that is worth the $10 ($19 - $8 for an HD receiver) a month.

    Justin,
Thank you for the reply.  I am in western PA but can't check my DVR for the version until I get home.
Can you please elaborate what you mean by "and as an aside, if you have QIP6416 DVRs and/or the QIP2500 SD STB, you will not be happy with 1.9 on any of those boxes."  I'm not sure what kind of receivers I have off hand.
If I can get two DVRs to work with each other I would be ecstatic!!!  Thanks again for the info.
You obviously have internet access, you can't use the internet to view what STBs you have in your account? If you do that, it will show you the model numbers of each of your STBs.
But anyway, the 6xxx boxes are the old original STBs that Verizon delivered for FiOS TV starting 6 years ago. They worked fine with all levels of the IMG up through 1.8 (I had one for 5 1/2 years, got rid of it earlier this year, replaced it with a 7232). With the new 1.9 level, the 6xxx and 2500 boxes perform very poorly, they just do not have the processor, graphics processor, memory (and for the 6xxx boxes, an eSATA port) to support the new HD graphics and things like an external hard drive. So your Guide will still be SD, it will be somewhat hard to read, the boxes will be slow, slow, slow, etc.
As I said, two DVRs most certainly can work together with 1.9. That feature is called Multi-Hub, it is free, just needs to be turned on on the DVRs. Allows you to access, schedule, and delete recordings on either DVR from other STBs as well as the DVRs themselves.
A simple way to tell if you already have 1.9 is to look at the Guide and if it has the light blue/gray background it is 1.9.
If you still have the two DVRs but not yet 1.9, I suggest you just keep them (unless they are 6xxx boxes), the new support should be available to you soon.
Edit: Just had a thought, I know Verizon also uses Cisco STBs in some areas. I have no idea whether they do where you are, but it is possible that that is what you have. If so, I think they have an older version of 1.9 that does not yet support some of the features that the 1.9 for Motorola boxes has. Not sure which features.....

  • Remote not working on dvr but works on other boxes

I have a Dvr box in the back of the house, It was working fine today earlier. I went back in the room and poof the remote dosent work on the box. It still works the tv. So I took it out to the other boxes in the house and it works fine on the other boxes. So I took both remotes from the other boxes and tried to use them on my dvr box. Again no response. the remote lights up when I press the button. Soooooo, I had recently switched the dvr box out for a new one. I have not sent it back yet so I have 2 working boxes. The issue I had last week was not box related so both boxes work fine. I tried swapping out the current box for the old box. Same thing, the remote will not work on it.Other remotes will not work on it yet this remote to the dvr box works every other box in the house. What happened? Did I lock the box somehow? or what can I do? The remote is working , just nt on the box in my room.Could it have to to with the signal being sent ot the box? I dont know its a mystery.

My guess would be IR interference from the TV.
Trying moving the STB away from the TV as far as you can, off the the side. Or if the STB is below the TV, try putting some kind of shield between the bottom of the TV and the STB. The objective here is to try to shield the IR sensor in the STB from any IR emitted from the TV.
IR interference from the TV is a known problem, there are lots of threads here on the Forums about this. Frequently this will occur if the TV is set to a very vivid video setting. But then again this issue frequently disappears after the TV has been on for some minutes.
Another possibility is IR interference from some other device in close proximity to the STB. So what other electronic devices are nearby?
Just a guess, but try moving or shielding the STB and see if there is a difference.

Original question...as question length is limited ...not very bright that limit by the way :(
"My DVR security sofware that I access remotely uses a "dvr .ocx" file....when I try it in Firefox , either the latest non beta (3.6.1.5) or the new beta version (4.0 rc) it will NOT work as it says the plugin is missing... it works in IE 8 (unfortunately) but not IE9...

    All the best, Brett :)

The longer this thread continues, the more ancillary comments you throw in that aren't directly pertinent to your problem with your DVR software not working with Firefox 4.0. Sorry, I don't intend to continue with this discussion.
I do agree that ''something'' needs to be done better with regards to plugins for Firefox, but I do disagree with you as to whose responsibility that ''something'' is.

  • Email is not working properly and dvr is freezing.

I never thought I would say this but I am considering going back to cable. I have been calling verizon for 2 weeks now. My email is not working. I did not get any email for about 3 days, then when I called I got a couple (I normally get about 70 per day). Now I get 3 or 4 a day and it seems I have to call them daily. Their server is rejecting emails. I have many things I am waiting for (business contracts, etc) and I am not getting them. CLients are telling me that their emails are being rejected by verizons servers. I am not getting any answers from verizon. All that happens is when I complain, I get email for about an hour (sporadically) and then it stops again. I have really had enough of it at this point. And the DVR freezing for the last several months.. well that is another issue. It is time to look into optimum again

  • Unable to update, deleted and reinstalled Itunes and my Pioneer DVR 218-L will not run. Install corrupted driver. Have tried to delete and reinstall 3 times 11.1.64 and not working?

I recently attempted to " update " iTunes and received the missing .dll and Windows error message it seems everyone is posting. I had to delete  not only Itunes, but the Apple update and other associated file in order to get my Pioneer DVD DVR 218-L to work. The driver would not work and Microsoft had no fix for this. It told my registry was corrupt. Apple should certainly fix this problem. Now I cannot run iTunes at all unless I do not want a functioning DVD drive?

I am having the same issue with Vista 64 bit: After many failed download attempts ("network error") the Progress Bar briefly appears and that's it.
Searched for solution that led me to running "Microsoft FixIt", deinstalling iTunes, Apple Software Update, Mobile Dev Support, Bonjour, and Application Support - even manually deleting common files that were left over (tough with Vista). No difference. FYI, I was able to get rid of the Apple folder in Program Files (x86)/Common File, but not in Program Files/Common Files ... but that shouldn't make a difference as I am installing iTunes64Setup.exe, right?
I even tried iTunes 10.7 and 10.6.3 from Apple's support page ... same differnce.
Had a lot of security updates on 1/22/14 (all related to Office 2007 (including SP3), though). So I tried to restore past this point, but an "unknown error" occurred and I am stuck where I am ... lovely.
So now my system is chopped and I seem to not be able to get iTunes even close to my computer ... :-(
