Muvo N200 doesn't seem to ex

My N200 had the latest updates on it, everything was fine. Then today I decided to put some more music on it, which it was doing fine until the next to the last track, when it gave me an error message (this was in mediasource organizer). So I unplugged it, noticed that it was saying on the LCD screen, "CREATIVE" and not doing anything, so took the battery out. Plugged it in again, and the computer recognized it, but said it needed to be formated. I made the decision to do this, even after not being able to back up the music on it because the computer couldn't read it. Cool, it reformated fine, and it's being recognized by the computer. Then I reinstalled the latest firmware and all that just to be sure. But--what's this--it's not being recognized by the computer again. And it won't power on (and yes, with different batteries). Strange thing is, Windows sort of recognizes it--it goes "ba-bum" (the "I recognize you just stuck a USB in me" perfect fifth) noise but no USB icon or anything shows up on the system tray and there's nothing on the LCD screen at all, battery or no battery in it. Recovery mode will not start; it's like it's dead.

You could also try reinstalling the mass storage driver on your pc. That might solve the problem. I had a similar problem with an old pc and a USB card reader years ago. The card reader would usually be recognized though if I rebooted the pc, then connected the card reader before launching any software. I know that rebooting the pc would be annoying, but it might let your player be recognized.

• Muvo N200 doesn't st

I have my mp3-player about 6 months.
Now the mp3-player won't switch on. There appears no logo or light.
I have used full different batteries.
There are no problems when i connect my mp3-player to the pc.
I have updated the firmware of the player (_2_0). I also used the option "Format Data Area"
Does anybody knows a solution for this problem, or is my player defect?
Martin

If you're absolutely sure you've tried working batteries, then the player is faulty. You need to contact Creative Support.

Unfortunately, NONE of my friends use Windows anymore , even at work we use Linux for security reasons. So what am i supposed to do now... They have a link at Creative that makes you belei've that they support Linux and offer you the possibility to choose the operating system, in other words=Linux. When i told in a mail to Creative Norway that they offer Linux support at their download-site, they actualy had the nerve to tell me that they don't do that!! I told them to remove the choice if they don't offer it, and don't try to tell people that they are eighter blind or stupid, and i pasted the Link + added a Screenshot of the page into the mail!! I realy got upset. It is the last time i by something from Creative. My first player from Creative lasted exactly 2 weeks, after that he stopped working for one odd reason, so i paid a little more in order to get a better one in exchange, and that device didn't li've longer than month eighter?
Not exactly QUALITY we are talking about..aren't we?
What to do, what to do?
Anyone has a clue?

• PLEASE HELP MUVO N200 ERROR EVERY TIME I TRY AND DOWNLOAD A SONG

hi every time i try and download a song it says error. i put it into recovery mode and it fixes it but i have to unload all the songs off and then start again but the same thing happens again and sometimes i don't even know if my player goes into recovery mode because my computer doesn't detect it. is there anything i can do about the error every time i try an ddownload a song? please help i am relly frustrated!!

"Download" as in from LimeWire or some such program? Or loading your player with songs.
If it's from LimeWire, the song file is probably corrupted.
If it's loading your player with songs, either you haven't installed the player's corresponding driver correctly, or something's happened to corrupt your firmware.
Try downloading the firmware from Creative and re-loading it onto your player. Very easy to do.
If that doesn't fix anything, try uninstalling and then re-installing the Creative MuVo N200 driver onto your computer. Get somebody that really knows what they're doing to help you.

• Muvo N200 - What is it called

Was going to update my MUVO N200 on the firmware, and am unable to find it. I see that Creative renamed everything (lovely), so I can't find my player on that list of drivers anymore. Anyone know what they renamed it to?
And why do they pull this kind of stuff? Really, it just makes it more confusing for me as a consumer to figure out what I need.

On the downloads page it may be called the MuVo Micro - it's full title is MuVo Micro N200 but that seems to get shortened to either MuVo Micro or N200 depending on which region you are in.
It has been superceded by the Zen Nano Plus but don't use any downloads specifically for that player.

• MuVo N200 and Mac

Hi, hopefully someone can help me?!
I've recently got a MuVo N200. I'm having a bit of trouble adding songs to it though, and am wondering whether it's because I have a Mac instead of a PC. It does seem to work with iTunes, as I have managed to add some songs, but for some reason, it won't let me fill the memory. It gets so far, and then won't add anymore. It tells me 'there is not enough room on media module "built-in" to copy all of the requested files', and refuses to add anymore, yet the display shows that the memory is nowhere near full.
It was suggested to me that perhaps certain files were corrupt, as some songs could be added, while others not. However, after deleting all tracks and trying again (on several different occasions), songs which hadn't previously worked, did, while others which had, didn't. All very confusing.
If anybody knows of what I'm talking about, and might be able to tell me what the problem could be I'd be really grateful.
Thanks.

I am not a Mac user, but I had a similar problem when I first started transferring files to my MuVo N200. I was only able to store up to around 450 MB to 460 MB of music files out of 52 MB. When I used the customized "Explorer" program that Creative offers for Windows, the problem was resolved. Does the MuVo N200 include any Mac software? Anyways, hope someone can help you get around this.

• Muvo n200- exchange it or jack

I bought a muvo n200 three weeks ago. It was working great until a week ago. I was listening to a track, it started to distort a bit here and there, and then it stopped in a loop of distortion.
I replaced the battery a few times with similar results. The track would proceed for a minute and a half with occasional distortion before freezing altogether. Additionally, the track count time was wrong. It would count ,2,3,4,5,6(fast), <skip 7>, 8(slow), 9,0,,2,3(fast). The specific numbers would change, but the pattern is basically the same.
I removed all the tracks and placed a single album back on with the same result.
I installed the muvo n200 drivers from the CD (previously just used windowsXP explorer to transfer tracks) and formatted the player (fat32), placed an album back on and had the same result.
After emailing support, I installed the latest drivers (MuVoN200_PCFW_LB__2_0). Now, the tracks seem to play and there is no freezing, but the track counter problem persists. A 2:33 track shows as 4:6.
Thank you for making it this far. Is there something else I can do to fix this? If I take this back to Fry's, should I exchange it for another n200 or just get a different type of player altogether? I like the concept of the n200 (no moving parts, inline radio), but I keep reading more horror stories on these forums.
Thanks...

Little bit strange, I'd get it exchanged for another one because the N200 is an excellent little unit and very high quality. If you have problems again (very very unlikely), you may want to see if you can get something else.
If you do have the same problems again, it could be that your MP3 or WMA files are corrupted? Have you tried re-ripping your music from CD?Message Edited by scorpian007 on 07--2005 02:42 AM

I have the same problem, what firmware update do i need? The only one I can find on the web site seems to be for viewing Thai characters only...
That is just the fix in the latest firmware - it does verything that the earlier firmwares did as well.
I would try version .2.0 first - it is not available on the Download page but you can still get it here.

• Muvo N200 download iss

hey I recently bought a Muvo N200 second hand. It was only the MP3, no software. So I was told that Windows Media Player works good for uploading songs on the MP3. It all works fine and dandy, BUT I cant seem to put my music into the specific files I create for the music. Anyone use Windows Media Player and/or know how I am able to put or upload the songs directly into the folder?

On the N200 you can have about 60 folders including the My Recorded Tracks and My Encoded Tracks folders. This is part of the Creative firmware. The only limitation with FAT is the number of files or folders in the root (top-level) folder. There is an explanation of this here. As long as you at least create a Music folder and put other folders inside this then you should be OK until you hit Creative's folder limit.
BTW, even without the installation CD you can get all of the Creative software from the N200 download page. This includes N200 Media Explorer and Creative MediaSource, which is a full PC Music Library program, similar to WMP. You need to use Media Explorer, CMS or WMP to transfer music you have downloaded from official music download sites - you can't just drag and drop those files using Windows Explorer.

• Muvo N200 transfer er

hi, i got a muvo n200 gb mp3 but everytime i tried to transfer my files it stop w/ 32mb left and it said i can store up to gb...i tried it a couple times and everytime the memory hav 32mb left..the files after that r all error...can someone help pls?
thx =)

I am having the same problems. To make it more difficult, I am using Windows Media Player 0. If you have the File Hiarchy Enabled, it creates sub folders that the N200 cannot read. If you disable File Hiarchy, Media Player 0 appears to only sync with the root directory. I can't seem to make Media Player sync with a folder.
I would be interested in knowing if there is a workaround. If not, I would really classify this media player completely incompatible with Windows Media Player. Bottom line, you can't sync up your player without manual intervention.

My MuVo is not working properly, what can I do?
The first thing to try with a misbehaving MuVo is to update the firmware. Get the latest version from Nomadworld.com downloads and make sure to follow the instructions exactly that are accessed from show details at the download page.

• MuVo N200 Direct Trans

Hi, I have an old(er) MuVo N200 256mb mp3 player and my friend has a video ipod. He is having a problem downloading a particular album that he wants that I have on my player, so he's asked if it's possible to directly transfer. I suggested e-mailing it but he seems to think that'd take longer if it can be done directly. I know the N200 has this fancy cord for encoding as well as the USB port, so is it possible to do this transfer simply by connecting our players together? And if so would we use the encoding cord or the usb cord? If I had to guess I'm betting either this can't be done or I would connect it to his using the USB which would cause his ipod to recognize it as a portable dri've, make sense? If anyone could get back to me ASAP that'd be wonderful, thanks -Ang-

Ang,
You're right, this cannot work. You need to attach both player to the computer to make those transfer.
