MuVo N200 File Transfer Probl

So, I just got a new MuVo N200. After installing the MuVo Drivers, I tried to drag and drop .mp3 files to the dri've in Windows Explorer. After a couple of files transfer, the transfer hangs, and then a windows error pops up from the system tray saying that a USB device has become unresponsi've/unrecognizable, and click here to troubleshoot (which is of course worthless). The MuVo is now locked up at this point, and removing the battery is the only way to get it out of 'USB mode'. I have tried wiping everything Creative from my computer and reinstalling the software (short of running regedit and deleting all creative regkeys), I have flashed to the newest firmware .2.0, both with and without the 'Format Data Area' option, I have also formatted the MuVo as FAT32 through windows explorer, however this problem still persists. I'm going to finally upgrade my computer to WinXP SP2 (only have SP now), but I don't think this will solve my problem, as it seems to be the MuVo that is at fault (all my other USB devices, including other mp3 players work fine). Does anyone have any ideas as to other fixes I might try, or am I looking at an RMA?
Also, I purchased this through amazon.com, so I'm assuming I need to handle this as an RMA through creative, not through a return process with amazon.com, correct?Message Edited by SLOROJO on 06-3-2005 0:6 PM

I have been through some USB woes' (as SSR is aware) and don't dispair yet. What does worry me is that other MP3 players work. Make sure that is the case even after your last set of changes. Drag an equivlant amount of files to the other MP3 players. Be equal in your testing. I was able to drag a 20K file to my N200 .. but a 2MB file would get hosed.
Having said that, for me, the N200 works without instaling any of the drivers or Media explorer. I agree, go to another W2k or XP machine, plug it in and drag about 00MB of files to the N200 when it shows up on the explorer. If that works fine, then there are many ways to clean up your USB stack. Not sure if it's a USB2 issue .. and SSR has dealt with that.
I had a situation where another USB driver was interfereing with my USB phone sync program. Cleaned up all USB device drivers, and it worked fine. With W2k SP4 or XP2, have not had too many issues.

  • Creative Zen USB and File transfer probl

Am the unhappy owner of a brand new Creative Zen touch 20gb mp3 player which apparently works with usb 2.0. After installing the software which came on the cd (file transfer software and nomad explorer) the Zen appears to get recognised by the pc with no problems when i connect via the usb cable. The Zen also displays 'docked' which is all very well. However if i select say 0 tracks to download to the player the xp progress bar seems to halt at around 60-70% and eventually the program (nomad) complains that the operation cannot be completed. I noticed that the small hard dri've in the player feels as though it is 'spinning down' around a similar time to the message being displayed. If at this stage i refresh the players view in nomad explorer it can be found with no problem....its just i cant write to it until i unplug the usb from the zen and reconnect. I spoke to creative who told me that because my pc (in system devices) reports that my usb is an 'open host' adapter...this means it cannot supply adequate power to the player....but surely USB2.0 is USB2.0 and if something claims to be USB2.0 compliant that would be the end of the story? The usb card im using is a usb 2.0 pci card and is also pretty new. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried various usb ports, usb and2 conections ( I have both), various cables and combinations and the same happens. I have also tried win xp and win98, and other disks I have with the same result. I have managed to transfer 20 os so mp3s (a small proportion of those I have been trying to transfer)after 3-4 hours hard labour but never the contents of a full folder. After a proportion of the files are transferred then Zen touch becomes 'busy' or 'not connected'. Obviously there is no way I can continue like this and it will have to go back.
I have tried the slightly newer driver but this did not work at all and I had to roll back to the one that came on the CD. I feel that I have given it a fair shot trying all the workarounds.
Is is a USB power problem? Should a powered usb hub cure it's If so why?
But is this surely is Creative's problem. It is obviously a known issue but what are they doing about it's Putting out Zens which are prone to this problem is not good practice. Any solutions out there?

    Hey,
If you tried it on a friend's computer and you're still having problems then it may be a problem with the Zen. Before you call or e-mail tech support, here is what they will tell you do to first before they really get in depth with helping you. Go into Rescue Mode (there is an explanation on how to do this at the top of the forum) and do a disk clean up. After that, try it. If that doesn't work then click the reload OS option which will take the firmware (like windows to your PC) off the Zen. Don't worry you can easily put it back on. Go to Support>Downloads>select Zen Touch, etc, etc. and download the latest firmware and run it. Hopefully that will fix it....
I had some connection problems myself with my ZT as soon as I got it as well. and simply reflashing the firmware fixed and now I love my Zen. I hope everything works out for you.

  • Zen Touch 40GB file transfer probl

This is my second player, the first one was set off for testing and this new one has the same problem.
Dunno whats up with it, been on the phone to support and took all the steps, formatted it, reset it and all that over and over..
Whenever I go to put music (mp3 format) onto it I get the message "the file cannot be created, reset player and try again".. so I do and it still wont do it.
Any suggestions before this player ends up out the window.

Sounds like a connectivity problem, which are always difficult to troubleshoot.
First thing to try, install the drivers and software on another PC and see if it works there. If it does, then it's a compatibility issue with your PC.

  • Muvo N200 File Name Disp

When go to the next MP3 song in the player, the file name will display very quickly (< second) and then display the title statically. Is there a way to see the file name+title scrolling instead of jumping to the title only? The reason is that the file name usually contains more discripti've information than the song title.
Interestingly, if a MP3 song does not contain any title, the player will scroll the file name. This is actually the better method. Anyway to do this without going to a program to get rid of the title? Thanks.

That isn't a problem, it's by design. Some people use very simple filenames for their songs, but put the detailed information in the tag. You can change the title in most applications like MediaSource and Windows Media Player. Otherwise a tagging program might be able to remove all the tags on all your songs if that's what you want to do.

  • Muvo N200 transfer er

hi, i got a muvo n200 gb mp3 but everytime i tried to transfer my files it stop w/ 32mb left and it said i can store up to gb...i tried it a couple times and everytime the memory hav 32mb left..the files after that r all error...can someone help pls?
    thx =)

I am having the same problems. To make it more difficult, I am using Windows Media Player 0. If you have the File Hiarchy Enabled, it creates sub folders that the N200 cannot read. If you disable File Hiarchy, Media Player 0 appears to only sync with the root directory. I can't seem to make Media Player sync with a folder.
I would be interested in knowing if there is a workaround. If not, I would really classify this media player completely incompatible with Windows Media Player. Bottom line, you can't sync up your player without manual intervention.

hi, can anyone help me to slove my muvo n200 problem? My mp3 player is in .0.2 version, I bought it for 5 months till now, the microphone recording function suddenly don't work and whenever I press it it shut down the whole system.
The second problem is just started the day before yesterday. The sound (not because of the headphone) was not right. It sound metalic and have heavy metal econ. However it only happen when I start up it for the first time in a day. After that it will be fine. I really don't know why. Should I recovery the whole system? Or I have to download something to replace it's
    Thank you very much.

    Tried reloading/updating the firmware?

  • N200 - Win2000 transfer prob

Dunno if anyone has had this problem. Got an N200 a month ago, had loads of problem with it until I updated to the new firmware. I've tried it on 3 computers which all have XP and it works like a dream, can copy files to and from it with no problems.
But when I use it on my PC with Windows 2000 Pro (with ServicePack4 installed), I can transfer files from it but can't transfer to it. I've read the forums and tried several things (renaming mp3 file, uninstalling drivers and reinstalling drivers, etc etc). I tried to transfer just one mp3 to a folder and it got halfway through (58%) and just froze. I took ages for my computer to kick back into life again and an error message popped up saying it couldn't write to dri've. I then tried to safely remove the dri've but said i couldn't as in use and to try later. I then unplugged it, replugged it in and now it doesn't recognise it (it's gone back to the standard usb driver, like it's deleted the muvo drivers). I reinstall the muvo drivers and reboot, it now recognises the N200 again. Try copying a file to it again and the whole sorry process starts again.
It must be a win2000 thing or something, as it's works like a dream on XP. But before anyone suggests it, can't afford XP at the moment!! I have usb ., if I could get a USB 2.0 card would it be more reliable? I dunno, can anyone tell I'm now clutching at straws!!!!

Thank you again for your quick reply.
-Yes I've been using Win Explorer to drag and drop my WMA files and that worked before my f/w update.
-I ripped my own WMA files with Win. Media Player 0 @ 92kps with "Copy protect music" unchecked.
-I have just tried to use the WMP0's Sync function to copy the files instead. I noticed an xml file being copied. However, when I try to play the songs, the same problem is still there.
-I would try with Media Source or the MuVo N200 Media Explorer, but my paths/filenames/songnames are a mix of Chinese, English and Japanese, and Creative software doesn't recognize them (can't access the file from Media Explorer). If I change my regional settings, I can only choose one language at a time + english. (Also interestingly, the MuVo correctly displays all these lanugages in the LCD but doesn't work with PC software)
Is there anywhere I can find a previous version of firmware, other than .6 and .5?
    Thank you again.

  • Muvo N200 auto-resume?? (for audio boo

    Greetings,
Does the Muvo N200 automatically resume playback from where it left off after power off? How about after changing the battery? I'm planning on using the N200 for audio books, so the resume feature is very important.
Any other comments on using the N200 for audio books?
    Thanks in advance...

After considerable research, I have figured out the problem, re: RESUME on the N200. Evidently, the problem is with Audible Files. 90 percent of the Audible files I have downloaded have retained the RESUME function; but two recent files did not. That may be Audible's fault, or it may flow from disconnecting the USB too soon--before the file transfer is complete.
I confirfmed this by testing other Audible files where the RESUME function worked; and on MP3 and WMA files, where RESUME also worked without a hitch.
    Hope this hel
    ps.

  • Muvo n200- exchange it or jack

I bought a muvo n200 three weeks ago. It was working great until a week ago. I was listening to a track, it started to distort a bit here and there, and then it stopped in a loop of distortion.
I replaced the battery a few times with similar results. The track would proceed for a minute and a half with occasional distortion before freezing altogether. Additionally, the track count time was wrong. It would count ,2,3,4,5,6(fast), <skip 7>, 8(slow), 9,0,,2,3(fast). The specific numbers would change, but the pattern is basically the same.
I removed all the tracks and placed a single album back on with the same result.
I installed the muvo n200 drivers from the CD (previously just used windowsXP explorer to transfer tracks) and formatted the player (fat32), placed an album back on and had the same result.
After emailing support, I installed the latest drivers (MuVoN200_PCFW_LB__2_0). Now, the tracks seem to play and there is no freezing, but the track counter problem persists. A 2:33 track shows as 4:6.
Thank you for making it this far. Is there something else I can do to fix this? If I take this back to Fry's, should I exchange it for another n200 or just get a different type of player altogether? I like the concept of the n200 (no moving parts, inline radio), but I keep reading more horror stories on these forums.
    Thanks...

Little bit strange, I'd get it exchanged for another one because the N200 is an excellent little unit and very high quality. If you have problems again (very very unlikely), you may want to see if you can get something else.
If you do have the same problems again, it could be that your MP3 or WMA files are corrupted? Have you tried re-ripping your music from CD?Message Edited by scorpian007 on 07--2005 02:42 AM

  • Muvo N200 download iss

hey I recently bought a Muvo N200 second hand. It was only the MP3, no software. So I was told that Windows Media Player works good for uploading songs on the MP3. It all works fine and dandy, BUT I cant seem to put my music into the specific files I create for the music. Anyone use Windows Media Player and/or know how I am able to put or upload the songs directly into the folder?

On the N200 you can have about 60 folders including the My Recorded Tracks and My Encoded Tracks folders. This is part of the Creative firmware. The only limitation with FAT is the number of files or folders in the root (top-level) folder. There is an explanation of this here. As long as you at least create a Music folder and put other folders inside this then you should be OK until you hit Creative's folder limit.
BTW, even without the installation CD you can get all of the Creative software from the N200 download page. This includes N200 Media Explorer and Creative MediaSource, which is a full PC Music Library program, similar to WMP. You need to use Media Explorer, CMS or WMP to transfer music you have downloaded from official music download sites - you can't just drag and drop those files using Windows Explorer.

  • Muvo N200 support playlis

I am seriously considering purchasing a muvo n200 GB, however I would like to know if there is anyway to organize the songs e.g through playlists , or is it just one big space to dump all your songs, and you'd have to scroll through every song just to find one that you want to hear.
thank you for reading my post, any input is greatly appreciated.

There seems to be some confusion on this topic. Hopefully this post will help clear the matter up.
I just bought the MuVo n200 and I really like it (256mb model). I had the same question you did about playlists. You can create playlists on your computer with the software provided but the player itself does not support playlists. The player does support the use of folders, so essentially you can accomplish the same task as a playlist by creating folders and storing them on your player. Once the folders have been stored on your player, you simply skip to the folder you want to listen to. When a folder is transferred to the player the songs in the folder will be arranged alphabetically. I have not figured a way around this but it is no big deal if you keep your folders reasonably small.
Also I have noticed that you cannot put a folder in a folder (like you can in Windows directories). You can do this on the computer with the software provide but you cannot transfer the embedded folders. For example, if you create a folder named Rock and put several folders in that folder named Boston, REM, Dire Straits, etc and then transfer this data to your player, the player will not recognized the folder. All this means is that if you create a folder you must put songs in it, not other folders. Again, no big deal as long as you know this.
I like this product. The only shortcoming I have seen is the documentation is lacking. This is somewhat made up for by the quick and accurate response I got from Tech Support though. They got back to me in about 5 minutes. I have pasted the response from Tech Support below.
Thank You for being Creative Customer.
For using the muvo micro to store playlists, I'm afraid this is not
supported by the player. It can store folders instead.
Thus in place of playlists, you may wish to create folders at the ROOT
directory and store the files you want, into each folder instead.
And to playback the songs in a particular folder, you may skip to that
    folder directly.
I apologise for any inconveniences caused to you.
We look forward to serving you again.

  • PLEASE HELP MUVO N200 ERROR EVERY TIME I TRY AND DOWNLOAD A SONG

hi every time i try and download a song it says error. i put it into recovery mode and it fixes it but i have to unload all the songs off and then start again but the same thing happens again and sometimes i don't even know if my player goes into recovery mode because my computer doesn't detect it. is there anything i can do about the error every time i try an ddownload a song? please help i am relly frustrated!!

"Download" as in from LimeWire or some such program? Or loading your player with songs.
If it's from LimeWire, the song file is probably corrupted.
If it's loading your player with songs, either you haven't installed the player's corresponding driver correctly, or something's happened to corrupt your firmware.
Try downloading the firmware from Creative and re-loading it onto your player. Very easy to do.
If that doesn't fix anything, try uninstalling and then re-installing the Creative MuVo N200 driver onto your computer. Get somebody that <EM>really</EM> knows what they're doing to help you.

  • Bluetooth file transfer from BB Z10 to Windows 7 Laptop

I have my BBZ10 (OS 10.2.0.424) successfully paired with Windows 7 Laptop. I often use the BBZ10 BT Internet Teethering. It works very well.
However, when I want to transfer a file from BBZ10 to my Laptop. I follow this process
In the background the Internet Teethering is ON, and working
select the file in Z10 File Manager.
click on share icon to share using BLUETOOTH
Before pressing the name of my paired devices on Z10. I click Bluetooth icon on laptop and select 'receive a file'. This opens a box showing the laptop is waiting in receive mode.
Then I select my paired computer name on Z10 to initiate transfer.
The transfer bar appears on Z10 showing the progress, but in 4-5 seconds, it says 'TRANSFER CANCELLED'.
And on my laptop it says 'BLUETOOTH FILE TRANSFER NOT COMPLETED'.
i have used exactly same process with my BB 9800 several times with success.
Another thing I note is, if the Internet teethering is OFF, I cannot turn BT connection to the laptop on. It come up with error message ' Cant' connect , you must turn on internet teethering on yoru device.'
    Please troubleshoot.

    hi eddie-n200,
Can you send a file from the laptop to the cellphone? If you can, check if the "Allow remote devices to browse, send, and receive pictures, music, and other files" option is enabled on the BT settings:
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
As an alternative, you may also want to try Bluesoleil or similar software to send/receive from the laptop.
