Muvo N200 FM Radio - no stereo so

I have a Muvo N200 52GB with latest firmware (.2.0).
The only problem I have with it is that the FM Radio sound output is mono even if the display indicates stereo reception.
I can achieve stereo sound if I pull out the headphone jack a little way but the connection is not secure if I do this and I don't have to do this to listen to WMA/MP3 music.
This could be down to firmware but I have only seen one other post with this problem.
I will try to reflash just in case but would appreciate any other suggestions.
In my opinion, even if FM reception is mono, sound output should still be directed to both right and left channels and not just one (left channel in my case).

Obviously the player is faulty as even if it's in mono you will get output from both channel. You can try reinstalling the firmware on the player and see if that helps just in case. If not, you should return to creative and get it repair.

  • Muvo n200 radio record

    Hello
I have a Muvo N200. When recording from the radio there is a high pitched 'whine' on the recorded file.
This is present even when the recording has been burned onto a cd.
Does anyone else have this problem and if they have has it been fixed by any firmware upgrades. I have not upgraded the firmware since purchasing the product.
    Your help is appreciated.
    Thank you

Hi, yes, the N200 radio recording is notoriously (on this forum) not all that great.
I have the latest firmware on mine, and have, if not a high pitched whine, then a sort of constant 'white noise' in the background of recordings that wasn't there on the original radio transmission.
Hopefully it will be fixed by a future firmware upgrade, (please Creative!) but for now, it looks like it's just something we'll have to li've with.
    Sorry, x

My MuVo n200 shuts off whenever i try to access the menu so i can switch to other music. Its stuck in the fm tuner mode and i cant switch out. Does anyone know what the problem is or how i can fix it.

    Tried a firmware upgrade?

  • MP3 MuVo N200 direct encod

I just bought a MuVo N200 today. One of the reason that I got it was that it has the direct recording/encoding function.
However, I have tried with various stereo sets at home, my hi-fi to DVD/CD players, it seems that either the recording was not good or I cannot put the plug into the socket (line out - from Hi-Fi stereo).
Can any one help me on this? Or is the direct recording good fot small discman or walkman?
    This is what I did:
hi-fi stereo - Line out (typically 2) Left or Right. I plugged into Right. I tried and the recording was okay. But when I listen, only side of my ear piece has the music.
    Please advise and thank u!

    Hey guys, wake up!
Maybe there is a reason to use the line in for direct encoding, such as record li've-recordings from radio, TV, rehersal-rooms or copy old Vinyl-LP or other....
Line out from the stereo should be ok, but if the volume is too low, you may want to try the Tape-out on your amplifier. And you should use a Steres-phono to Stereo mini-jack cable. If you only record to one side, it could be the Cable, the Amplifier line out or the mp3 line which is broken in one side.Message Edited by oelund on 04-04-2005 0:9 PM

  • MuVo TX FM radio prob

    Hi!
I have a muvo tx fm (256mb) player which was bought in France.
For a while the fm radio worked just fine. Then the player started to freeze if I try to tune to any station.
Out of approximately 0 attempts I can get the radio work only once. But even if it turns on I still can't tune to any frequency, the player just freezes again.
The only thing I can do after it freezes is to disconnect it from the battery and reconnect again.
I have the firmware version .00.04.
I tried the latest firmware .3.03 but with it the player stops responding right after I switch the radio on. So i downgraded back to the original firmware.
Anyway i still can't get the radio working.
    thnx and regards,
    Konstantin

  • I really need help with my creative MuVo N200 mp3 pla

i got my MuVo N200 mp3 player for chirtmas of last year, and it stopped working in 3 months. it used to shut off every few minutes and the mic doesnt work any more and i cant record music from the radio. right now it doesnt even work for a minute, it shuts off as soon as i try and turn it on. i emailed creative when it first started happening and they sent me a email saying what to do on there website, something about downloading something. i tryed it and it didnt work, im not sure if i didnt do it right. And right now i have no idea what to do. and creative won't help me unless i pay them money to fix it for me which im not about to do. has anyone have the same problem with the MuVo N200 mp3 player? what am i suppose to do to fix it's I still have there email telling me what to do, but i just dont get how to do it and if it will work. It only worked for me 3 months, and now im mad and thinking about buying a new one thats not from creative but i really want to try fixing it again to see if it will work. please help me.

Good question, unfortunately I have absolutely no idea. Reflashing/-formatting generally takes care of the usual cases of wonkyness this player develops, and there isn't anything more drastic you as a user could do.
Do you have a directory named "Recorded Tracks" on your player? Should be created automatically, but if it isn't you could try creating it manually...

  • Volume button on Muvo N200 not work

I have a MuVo N200 Gb. A week after getting it the volume button stopped working. Rather than adjusting the volume, the mp3 player crashes and turns itself off immediately. The player can subsequently be turned on, pause/play button works and toggle switch works, in addition to music playing as normal. However, as soon as the volume buttons are pressed the mp3 player crashes again.
Does anyone know how this can be fixed?
I have the latest firmware update, which is "MuVo N200, FW release .".

    Thanks for the help.
I tried the new update and it solved the problem. Someone had posted a similar problem on this site; in their case the player crashed each time the radio option was selected on the player. There must be a bug in the software that is dri'ven by some kind of event.
The thing that concerns me the most is that when I used the "automatically check for new firmare" option on the creative site I was told I had the most up to date firmware, which clearly wasn't the case! Oh well...

  • Muvo n200 - background noise, to l

    hey hi
i bought muvo n200 and i had problem with voice recording because it was to quiet, so i decided to upgrade firmware, but after i have these problems:
. voice recording always to quiet
    2. but music and radio plays to loud, at minimum volume is FM still so loud that i can't hear when somebody talks to me
    3. thare is the backgroud noise, when the backlit is on, after i updated, before it wasn't
help please, otherwise i kill the player

no exact procedure, i was just trying with a bad feeling that something bad (with the player) will happen
i downgraded from .20.04 (latest), don't know what was the original version in the player, battery was in,
i've tried to run the .2.0 in normal mode and it did some errors (as expected), nothing happend
than i've tried it in recovery mode (i had problems to connect it - some drivers problem i suppose), but i did it, than i ran the .2 firmware and was trying to start(the firmware upgrade) it but i got some error or something, i tried all the buttons there, i think i wanted to format the stuff - it didn't work, and finally i ran again the start and curiously it started to upgrade - as u can see no exact process - realy don't remember how, i was only trying and suppose the firmware too (many creative bugs), (maybe it installed some drivers between i pushed the same button later)
but i remeber after i disconected the player there was still the usb connection logo on the player display, so i needed to reset it (removing battery), (and was hoping i didn't destroy it), and than power on and the excitement moment and .... it worked (luck?)
    maybe i'll write a creative novel :-|

  • MuVo N200 problem with playba

I have an older MuVo N200. I have transferred some of my class notes to it and it had done just fine so I transferred some musice to it as well. It played back very well for about 2 days and now it is just a high pitch squelling:angry:. I have lost some of the songs that my daughter has sung because it has garbled and destroyed them ? Any way I would just like to know what is going on. I have deleted the music and?transferred it again and it works just like it is supposed to and the play back will be fine the first time around then... sounds that remind me of really, really bad radio station static. Any ideas? Help is appreciated.

I suggest reloading the firmware. This will also reformat the player, so everything stored on the player will be lost. Make sure you have copies on your pc first. Search the forum for detailed instructions about how to reload the firmware.

  • Muvo N200 - Car Ste

I have a muvo n200 and am wondering the options, if any, to listen to my mp3s through my car stereo. What will i need, where can i buy it, how much will it cost? Any and all help is appreciated!
Thanks in advanceMessage Edited by HBNelson on 05-08-2005 04:3 PM

If there is an input jack, a cable might only be around $8. A cassette adapter is probably around $5-20. An FM transmitter might be $30 and up. In terms of sound quality the cable is best, then the cassette adapter, then an FM transmitter.Message Edited by JK23 on 05-08-2005 08:40 PM

  • Muvo n200- exchange it or jack

I bought a muvo n200 three weeks ago. It was working great until a week ago. I was listening to a track, it started to distort a bit here and there, and then it stopped in a loop of distortion.
I replaced the battery a few times with similar results. The track would proceed for a minute and a half with occasional distortion before freezing altogether. Additionally, the track count time was wrong. It would count ,2,3,4,5,6(fast), <skip 7>, 8(slow), 9,0,,2,3(fast). The specific numbers would change, but the pattern is basically the same.
I removed all the tracks and placed a single album back on with the same result.
I installed the muvo n200 drivers from the CD (previously just used windowsXP explorer to transfer tracks) and formatted the player (fat32), placed an album back on and had the same result.
After emailing support, I installed the latest drivers (MuVoN200_PCFW_LB__2_0). Now, the tracks seem to play and there is no freezing, but the track counter problem persists. A 2:33 track shows as 4:6.
Thank you for making it this far. Is there something else I can do to fix this? If I take this back to Fry's, should I exchange it for another n200 or just get a different type of player altogether? I like the concept of the n200 (no moving parts, inline radio), but I keep reading more horror stories on these forums.
    Thanks...

Little bit strange, I'd get it exchanged for another one because the N200 is an excellent little unit and very high quality. If you have problems again (very very unlikely), you may want to see if you can get something else.
If you do have the same problems again, it could be that your MP3 or WMA files are corrupted? Have you tried re-ripping your music from CD?Message Edited by scorpian007 on 07--2005 02:42 AM

  • MuVo N200: WAV plays fine, MP3 gives corrupted so

    Hi,
My MuVo N200 plays WAV files fine, MP3 files play, but give corrupted sound. The following other remarks can be made:
    - FM radio plays fine
    - recorded FM radio or microphone play both ok (both WAV files)
    - if I connect the N200 to my PC and I double click an MP3 file under Removable Disk, the sound is absolutely ok, so the MP3 files itself are not corrupted!
    Anybody any idea?
    Thanks,
    Ton

    Ton,
Can you rip some new tracks from a CD to the player, and see if they have the same problem?

  • MuVo N200 Powering off when I press either volume but

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with my MuVo N200 while listening to music tracks and radio. When
I press either the volume up or volume down button the device shuts itself off. I had been
using the device for a few weeks with no issues before this morining. I do have the old
firmware .0.02 and will upgrade to the latest when I get home tonight. However, I'd
like to know if anyone else had this issue and if they were able to get volume to work
    again.
    Thanks,
    Troy

Starting a couple days ago, I have the same problem. I bought the N200 less than week ago. It's running firmware ..0
The volume control no longer works. It's stuck at level 40 and the controls do not respond. After trying to press the volume controls a few times it shuts down. When restarted, it starts playing from the beginning of the play list order.
    Anyone have any ideas?

AB84 discovered a trick that he shared in this thread. It's for really sick N200s, and I wish it could be stickied, because some N200s won't accept firmware using Creative's instructions. Essentially, his two tricks are to
) reinstall the driver, which PB has stated above, and which can be done by just double-clicking, as that will result in a dialogue where it tells you it already has that driver, and asks if you want to overwrite it--you want to overwrite it, and
    2) Instead of waiting for a "find new hardware" dialog box, he double-clicked to open the new firmware file. This resulted in a search for the player and two popup dialogue boxes, one that said something like "Media not initialized", to which you acknowledge by hitting the OK button, and a second that asks to upgrade your firmware. MAKE SURE TO SELECT THE BOX THAT SAYS "FORMAT DATA AREA", then OK.
Sorry, my two years of French were too long ago to be useful now.

  • MuVo N200 fast forwards tra

ok well i have the MuVo N200, with 52 mb and my mp3 player has stopped playing the tracks on it. Whenever i try and play them, it goes on pause and then just acts like its fastforwarding, jumping from like 30 seconds to a minute, to then a minute and thirty seconds. It also makes weird noises while doing this. The menu also works slower than usual and everything else like the radio, and microphone works. I have deleted all the tracks and songs on it, but that did not do anything. I tries re entering the songs again, but again it did the same thing. I really want to fix it because i already have had to return my mp3 player once or twice before. please help me! thankss..

    Hi
This sounds as though you need to reload the firmware. The best thing to do is reload the version you already have - find out which one from Settings, Information on your player.
There are links to each version available in this thread.
