Muvo N200 switching o

Hi, My Muvo n200 switches off when I scroll through my music folders. I have had the player for 3 days and it was ok at first.
Now when I switch it on, go to skip folder and scroll through the folders it just switches its self off.
It is not the battery. Also some times I switch on and light comes on , I get the CREATIVE logo followed by muvo n200 logo then it switches off .
Is there a fix for this problem or do I have a dud ?
I can scroll through the options menu ok.
Thank you for any help.
Mike

Mike,
Try formatting it and loading the new firmware onto it. If it's still the same, you should contact Customer Support as there could be a problem with your player.

• Muvo N200 Switches off after 1 tr

I'm experiencing a very very irritating problem with my player. It just switches off after playing single track. This problem only surfaced after using for approximately for 2 - 3 months. The other irritating part is that I couldn't access Recovery Mode and thus could not do any firmware upgrade, etc. Anyone can help me on this issue or must I return to Creative to have it RMA ? Thnx

Not if you don't have any problems with .2.0.
Some people will like .5.0 because it gives support for 3 levels of sub-folders which then allows sync with WMP0. But it also changes the volume scale which others don't like!

• MuVo N200 - A whole host of probl

Not wanting to sound cocky, but I think I can answer my own problem here before you all join in, but hey, who knows, I might be wrong. I think my N200 needs returning to Creative for some serious surgery. Here's "the list":
+ When transferring files with WMP0, a random number of files on the list to be copied will complete successfully. Then, an error message such as "The Server threw an exception" appears. According to Microsoft's Web "Help", this is because an MPEG2 video file is trying to convert and won't. Somehow, I don't think this is the case.
+ If I choose not to convert the files before transfer, it's blind faith as to whether they will all copy or not. In a sync list of 80 items, the transfer will fail seven or eight times on average. No error from media player this time, it's a windows balloon tip saying "delayed write failed". I have to remove and re-connc the muvo to continue the transfer.
+ Using MediaSource, the same error as above occurs after transferring EVERY track.
+ If, by some miracle, I manage to get the songs I want onto the muvo before dying of old age, it's the a 50/50 chance that when I unplug the muvo and switch it on, it will say "file system error", switch itself off and when re-connected will be as blank as the day it left the factory.
+ Alternati'vely, it will be fine until a random amount of time later when it will switch itself off, and then when switched back on it will give the file system error.
+ If, miraculously, it has got through the day without wiping itself, when plugged back in media player will not always be able to remove old songs from the player, and will therefore declare it to be full after copying just track onto it.
Now, before you all jump up, let me just explain the following:
I have ALL the latest drivers, firmware, updates and widgets for Windows, Media Player, MediaSource, the MuVo, my USB ports, my motherboard, and every other piece of hardware just in case it's a conflict. There is nothing else I can download.
I've tried re-installing the firmware (in fact I'm having to do this on an almost daily basis).
I've tried it on a friend's computer: no change, same problems.
I've tried using a fresh install of windows with all the extra hardware stripped out of the pc, and i've tried the same system wit al the updates. Same problems.
I haven't EVER dropped the muvo, I don't li've next to a nuclear power station or on Jupiter.
I've tried using different kinds of batteries.
I've connected it in recovery mode, wiped it and started again. Repeatedly. Several times.
So, as I said at the top, I think I have a faulty muvo, b ut if anyone out there is thinking, "What a fool, he hasn't pressed the 'don't break' button!" then please, for the sake of my sahnity and rapidly receding hairline, HELP ME!
Dave
p.s. My 0 year old sound blaster 6 works flawalessly and always has. My 5 year old sound blaster li've 5. works flawlessly and nearly always has. My zen touch works flawlessly, but is a replacement for a faulty zen xtra. Which worked well, but was a replacement for a faulty jukebox zen. Which work ok, but was a replacement for a faulty jukebox 3 (which had an awesome remote control). Anyone see a pattern here?

davehelps:
The "delayed write failed" message suggests to me that you have write caching enabled for the N200 within Windows. This might be causing problems. I have this disabled - a side effect of this is that I don't have to use the Safely Remove Hardware icon before disconnecting the player (as long as I'm sure it is not being written to at the time).
To disable write caching:
Open My Computer and right click on the dri've letter for your player, choosing Properties.

On the Hardware tab click on the N200 and choose Properties again.

On the Properties page choose the Policies tab and select Optimize for quick removal.

• MuVo N200 Ease of U

I am considering the purchase of either the MuVo N200 or TX FM (52MB). I have a portable CD player I use at the gym but have never used a flash memory player.
. How easy is it to switch between stored music and the preset FM tuner?
2. Can toggling between encoded music and FM be done while on a treadmill?
3. Compare the sound quality of MP3 music (28kbs), FM tuner, and portable CD player?
Any insight you have would be helpfull.

i like all of the muvos, because they are so simple. Before you work out, just go into music mode then into FM mode. After that, all you need to do is press the toggle wheel in twice (you don't even need to look at the screen).
That might not be the exact procedure, but it's something like that

• Volume button on Muvo N200 not work

I have a MuVo N200 Gb. A week after getting it the volume button stopped working. Rather than adjusting the volume, the mp3 player crashes and turns itself off immediately. The player can subsequently be turned on, pause/play button works and toggle switch works, in addition to music playing as normal. However, as soon as the volume buttons are pressed the mp3 player crashes again.
Does anyone know how this can be fixed?
I have the latest firmware update, which is "MuVo N200, FW release .".

Thanks for the help.
I tried the new update and it solved the problem. Someone had posted a similar problem on this site; in their case the player crashed each time the radio option was selected on the player. There must be a bug in the software that is dri'ven by some kind of event.
The thing that concerns me the most is that when I used the "automatically check for new firmare" option on the creative site I was told I had the most up to date firmware, which clearly wasn't the case! Oh well...

• MUVO N200 Bookmarking inside fold

Hi,
I have a Muvo N200, and am pretty happy with it - except for the problem with heaphones and screen light interference. But when I'm using it, there's a feature I'd like to have. When switching between folders (for example audiobook to music album) I'd like that the player remembers where I was in that folder. For music it's OK (even though I always hear the beginning...), but for audiobooks, it's annoying having to forward through the files and inside the file to where I left off.
Does anyone if it's possible to bookmark where I left? Thanks.

The tecnical support at Creative replied back to my query, so I leave the anwer here for future reference:
With the MUVO N200 it will remember the stopping point of the audio file
that you were playing if you turn off the unit then turn it back on.
However it will not remember the stopping point between several files.
Now depending on your audio books you may be able to make chapters so
that you do not have to manually forward through you the hole file. If
you have any more questions please let us know.

• Muvo N200, 1GB installation prob

I made the mistake of connecting the Muvo to my computer before
installing the software. Not a good idea. Even after installing
the software the device manager keeps on indentifying the Muvo
as an "Unknown device". I then tried installing it on my wife's
computer in the proper order and the Muvo was recognized properly.
But I want to install it on my computer. Unfortunately all my
system restore points were overwritten by my many install attempts,
so now I am sunk. I've got to figure out how to fix the damage
manually. Even removing the device using the device manager,
uninstalling the software, reinstalling in the proper order,
and finally connecting the MP3 player doesn't work. When I plug
in the MP3 player itstill recognizes it only as an unknwown
device.

> Jason-CL wrote: There's no need to install driver if you're
> using Windows XP.
It did work on other computers, so as you pointed out, it was
clear the problem was not with the Muvo N200. I tried updating
the BIOS and all the MotherBoard related drivers. Then I removed
all USB stuff via the Device Manager and let XP put it all back.
... Plugged the muvo back in ...
Drat. It just says "Unknown Device" and does not show another
disk dri've.
> and you could try creating another user account ...
Tried that too. Same problem
> Try using other available USB port ...
The four main USB ports on the MBD back panel were all
in use so I had been using one of the four USB ports on
a PCI add-in card I installed to give me more ports.
I tried switching to the USB ports on the front of the
computer (which are cabled to an aux USB connector on
the motherboard). Same deal - unknown device. (This is
getting old).
Finally I tried unplugging my digital camera base unit
from on the the four main USB ports on the MBD back panel
and I plugged my Muvo N200 into that. Instant Recognition!!!
A new disk dri've appears, and it even knows that it is a
Create Muvo. So then I plugged my digital camera base unit
into the USB add-in card and it works just fine too. (It
also shows up as a disk dri've).
So now all is well except for my fragile understanding.
Here I thought all USB ports were created equal (well except
for the ver verses ver 2 thing). But clearly on my computer
they are not. Perhaps there is someting wrong with my MBD
or its setup that causes this.
Anyway, thanks for all your suggestions, especially since
I don't think I would have figured it out on my own.

• Muvo n200-not find by

hello
I got a big problem with my muvo N200. When I connect it through usb to pc it's not recognized.the picture which shows that player is connected to pc is not appearing. I can't upgrade the firmware and do anything with usb. I tried this on other pc's and different usb cables....where's the problem?

Try this:?http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=23264?Read posts 3 and 4. Several N200 owners have gotten satisfaction from this, e.g.,?http://forums.creative.com/creativel...d=00348#M62247?I occasionally come back here to check on N200 failures, because Creative just won't put this in their FAQ, I guess they feel they have to see it work for themselves. Even the uber-posters won't acknowledge this fix discovered by AB84. Hope it works for you, as it has for several of us.

• MuVo N200 Screen Too Small To Re

Hi,
I just bought the MuVo N200 (52MB using Win XPHome) and trying to figure it out. Now that I got the software up (w latest the firmware installed), I'm challenged by the tiny screen area.
Dunno if I'll rue this purchase therefore!
Getting out by sunlight or holding it under a bright light helps (The backlight goes off before I've begun to make things out). A magnifying glass helps a bit too.
How have others of you managed with this (I can't be the only one!)
Thanks
Chet

I would like a larger display, although that would probably mean that player needs to be larger. That would be okay though, since I also want the player to use a AA battery and have an AM and FM tuner. Having models with 52 meg, gig, and 2 gigs to start(with higher capacity models coming later as flash memory prices drop). I would also like to see a deluxe model with a much higher quality mic(so students can adequately record lectures given in large lecture halls, or businessmen could record meetings) and a high quality line in(then the mic and line in could be omitted on the standard model).

• I really need help with my creative MuVo N200 mp3 pla

i got my MuVo N200 mp3 player for chirtmas of last year, and it stopped working in 3 months. it used to shut off every few minutes and the mic doesnt work any more and i cant record music from the radio. right now it doesnt even work for a minute, it shuts off as soon as i try and turn it on. i emailed creative when it first started happening and they sent me a email saying what to do on there website, something about downloading something. i tryed it and it didnt work, im not sure if i didnt do it right. And right now i have no idea what to do. and creative won't help me unless i pay them money to fix it for me which im not about to do. has anyone have the same problem with the MuVo N200 mp3 player? what am i suppose to do to fix it's I still have there email telling me what to do, but i just dont get how to do it and if it will work. It only worked for me 3 months, and now im mad and thinking about buying a new one thats not from creative but i really want to try fixing it again to see if it will work. please help me.

Good question, unfortunately I have absolutely no idea. Reflashing/-formatting generally takes care of the usual cases of wonkyness this player develops, and there isn't anything more drastic you as a user could do.
Do you have a directory named "Recorded Tracks" on your player? Should be created automatically, but if it isn't you could try creating it manually...

• PLEASE HELP MUVO N200 ERROR EVERY TIME I TRY AND DOWNLOAD A SONG

hi every time i try and download a song it says error. i put it into recovery mode and it fixes it but i have to unload all the songs off and then start again but the same thing happens again and sometimes i don't even know if my player goes into recovery mode because my computer doesn't detect it. is there anything i can do about the error every time i try an ddownload a song? please help i am relly frustrated!!

"Download" as in from LimeWire or some such program? Or loading your player with songs.
If it's from LimeWire, the song file is probably corrupted.
If it's loading your player with songs, either you haven't installed the player's corresponding driver correctly, or something's happened to corrupt your firmware.
Try downloading the firmware from Creative and re-loading it onto your player. Very easy to do.
If that doesn't fix anything, try uninstalling and then re-installing the Creative MuVo N200 driver onto your computer. Get somebody that really knows what they're doing to help you.

• Muvo N200 FM Radio - no stereo so

I have a Muvo N200 52GB with latest firmware (.2.0).
The only problem I have with it is that the FM Radio sound output is mono even if the display indicates stereo reception.
I can achieve stereo sound if I pull out the headphone jack a little way but the connection is not secure if I do this and I don't have to do this to listen to WMA/MP3 music.
This could be down to firmware but I have only seen one other post with this problem.
I will try to reflash just in case but would appreciate any other suggestions.
In my opinion, even if FM reception is mono, sound output should still be directed to both right and left channels and not just one (left channel in my case).

Obviously the player is faulty as even if it's in mono you will get output from both channel. You can try reinstalling the firmware on the player and see if that helps just in case. If not, you should return to creative and get it repair.

• Muvo N200 - What is it called

Was going to update my MUVO N200 on the firmware, and am unable to find it. I see that Creative renamed everything (lovely), so I can't find my player on that list of drivers anymore. Anyone know what they renamed it to?
And why do they pull this kind of stuff? Really, it just makes it more confusing for me as a consumer to figure out what I need.

On the downloads page it may be called the MuVo Micro - it's full title is MuVo Micro N200 but that seems to get shortened to either MuVo Micro or N200 depending on which region you are in.
It has been superceded by the Zen Nano Plus but don't use any downloads specifically for that player.
