MUVO SLIM 1 GB with firmware 1.13.02 garbled so

Hi,
Since a couple of months I have the following problem
After I have downloaded several times music to my player I get all of a sudden garbled sound. The other day I was listening to a podcast and turned it off. Then when turning it back on the again ( hour later ) the podcast was completely not understandable. From now on all other songs sounded weired as well.(metal sound ) Even erasing all songs and putting new ones had the same effect. The only thing left to do is to re-firmware the Muvo Slim again, then everything works normal again ( for some weeks )
I have also tried :
- not to upload the firmware , but just formatting the dri've in FAT or FAT32 , but this doesn't help.
- remove the battery for some time
- no mix of WMA and MP3 songs on the player
when listening to the mp3's that are on the MUVO player via the pc ( thus via the removable dri've) , there is no corruption in the files.Everything seems to be perfect.
So the usb flash dri've has no corruption.
The playrate seems to be ok , but the sound seems hardly recognizable.
I have tried to find something to reset my Muvo (instead of reimage ), but have found anything yet.
Please help.

Well, as I have said ,the problem seems to go away after I have done the firmware update again. But after a while the problem start again with no apparent reason
I always download the firmware from the creative website.
so at least I'm sure the firmware file I have is not corrupt.

  • Can I buy MuVo TX FM with Firmware 1.18.02 pre-load

I bought the MuVo TX FM 52 MB model last year and loved it: I upgraded the firmware to Version .5 with no problems. I gave it to my dad as a gift (and he loves it), and now I want another one, this time the GB model.
Is there any way I could just buy the player with the correct Firmware already loaded on it's I'm going to wait until after Christmas, when hopefully I can get the red GB model for under/around $00.

    where'd you get .8.02?
I go to the TX FM firmware page and there's nothing at all listed there now.
    It's back there now.

  • Need help - Error while updating the firmware of Muvo Slim using the recovery t

    Hi ,
While I am trying to update my Muvo slim firmware using the recovery tool it throwd up an error. And from then onwards if I am trying to power it up it won't.
If I again try to update the firmware, it throws up the error that "Unable to Write to Device: Device Time out".
I am afraid that my Muvo slim got bricked. Can you please help me in recovering the same.
PS: My PC OS is Windows XP.
    Thank & Regards
    ksraghava?

On my XP system, the last time I wanted to reload the firmware, I had to remove all of my Creative software programs,?and then revert my Windows Media Player back to 0 and then use The Recovery Tool. It is a bit of a pain, but does seem to work when you are getting errors with the firmware download.

Almost forgot. Make sure your player is fully charged or has a fresh battery before starting any firmware download.

  • Problem with Muvo Slim

My dad has a new Muvo Slim and I am trying to put music on it for him. I can get it to copy up to 28Mb but not to fill it, is there a setting that I have wrong?
    Thanks
    Kizzmo

Make sure you have the latest firmware.
Also try the player on another PC to see if the issue is with your PC, or some incompatibility with your PC and the Slim.

  • Muvo Slim external charger compatible with Zen Nee

    Hello.
I'm new here. I have a Muvo Slim and I bought the optional USB charger for the player so that I could charge the player without using my computer. I just need to plug the player using the charger to the power supply while the player is charging.
Now the problem is, I just got myself a Zen Neeon last month and I'm wondering whether the Muvo Slim's external charger is compatible with my Neeon? I noticed that both players are using the same USB port and I even charge them through my computer using the same cable. It would be very good if I could use the Muvo Slim's charger for my Neeon because it will save a few hours of electricity leaving the computer turned on everyday. Anyone can help? Many thanks.
    Cheers.

I've heard the Slim charger works with the Micro, and the Micro charger works with the Neeon. So by deduction it should work. If you want an official answer though you'll have to ask Creative Support.

  • Muvo Slim Not playing fi

My recently purchased Muvo Slim is no longer playing music files. It will play Audible files since I upgraded the firmware. When I try and sync the device with WMP0 the program locks.
I've looked all over the KB to no avail. Actually, the whole KB is really quite lacking in content. I've filed a customer service request but I'm not hopeful. Does anyone know how to reflash to a previous firmware? I think my problems began with the new firmware for Audible files.

I had the same problem, less then 48 hrs after buying a Slim.
I had reformatted it and did so in Fat32. I then had that error. Reformat it as FAT and it will work agian.
    (To Reformat ...
Open "My Computer". Find the "Removable Storage Dri've" the Muvo made, and right click it. You will see this:<IMG src="http://www.acsontario.biz/help/muvo_reformat_step.JPG">
    Select the option "Format".
    <IMG src="http://www.acsontario.biz/help/muvo_reformat_step2.JPG">
Select the dropdown box option of "FAT".
Click "Start" and it will reformat. For a faster reformat you can select "Quick Format".
SECONDLY ..... the new "Scroll" feature works by HOLDING THE JOG WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT to 'ff' or 'rw' thru the song, like you would with an old CD Player, tape deck or VHS machine.Message Edited by kmodorex on -3-2004 03:23 AM

  • Creative MuVo Slim and WM

I recently bought a MuVo Slim to supplement my Zen Micro. I like to use WMP0 to organize mu music library and I use playlists heavily. I find that the best way of managing my music os to organize it in playlists the way *I* want them and then synch selected playlists with my device. This works flawlessly with my Zen Micro (using MTP firmware of course).
But this does not work at all with my MuVo Slim. WMP will transfer music OK and organize it in a folder structure like this on the MuVo Slim:
    \Music\<Artist>\<Album>\<Tracn name>.mp3
This is fine except that my MuVo Slim won't recognize any music at all. I have played around a bit and moved my music files manually so it's all under one single top directory, e.g. \Music\<Track name>.mp3. The player will then find the files but there is no way to tell WMP0 to organize the music this way, neither do I want it organized like this. I assume the problem is in the firmware and lack of support for multiple subdirectories. I find little (read no) information about this in the manual or other placed I have searched.
Can anyone confirm this limit and confirm if there is a update planned that will make the device work with WMP0?
The device is useless to me right now and I'm about to send it back if there is no solution to this (using a different software to manage my music library is not a solution for me).
    Anyone?

I organize all my music by playlists in WMP0 and depending on my mood I would like to quickly chose which playlist to synchronize with my player. That's why I don't want to do it all manually. And besides, because of the current 2 level directory limitation of the player it won't recognize all the music when I fill the player all the way up ( GB). That is, unless I rename files and reorganize them. That's just too much of a hassle so throwing it out the windows seems the only logical choice, at least that gives me some weird sort of satisfaction.....
BTW I have a track record of destroying things that does not work as expected. I once invited both the Sales Director of Compaq in my country (before the merger with HP) and the local computer press to witness as I made a big fire of 36 Compaq laptops that my company had nothing but trouble with. The Sales Director of Compaq didn't show up but the computer press did. Needless to say it was a lot of fun.
So don't you make the mistake of not beliening me when I say I'll throw it out the window :smileyvery-happy:

  • Muvo Slim Format Er

    Hello,
I'm am having some trouble with my Muvo Slim Mp3 Player. I got it a while ago and it was working fine until one day, all the music was erased and it stopped working. I tried to get it to work myself, having some knowledge on these kinds of things and all I could get was this error. When I was opening the Removable Disk folder it said "Disk J: is not formatted, would you like to format now?", I chose yes, and it would bring up a window. The program would run until the end, and then an error message would come up saying "Cannot format Disk J:". I don't know what else to do, and I've called up your support lines and they don't know what to do either. Maybe you have some ideas?

Please remove the battery and connect the unit to a PC.
Any data and/or music on the unit is to be lost. Do not continue unless you can accept that the unit will be erased.
    Download the following firmware file:
    http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?MainCategory=23&Product=0052&dlcentr ic=9425&Product_Name=MuVo+Slim&OSName=Windows+XP
Be sure to select "Format Data Area" before you start the upgrade process. Once the Close button becomes acti've, click it. Now, go into My Computer, right click on the MuVo 'removable dri've' and select Format.
Format the dri've in the FAT32 file system.
Use the safe hardware removal icon (green arrow near the clock). Once unplugged, you can replace the battery. The player should now operate normally.
If this is not the case, please contact customer support and request an RMA. Note that this only applies if the player is under 2 months old.

  • MuVo Slim transfer er

Hi. I'm frustrated with the tech support I'm getting in email, so hopefully somebody here can help me. I had songs on my slim and everything was working fine until all of a sudden, I started getting this error message. It says: error tranferring file. There is an option at the bottom not to show this message for all other transfers, and a countdown at the top that automatically closes the window in a few seconds.
Tech support said to d/l the new firmware, so I saved all my songs (I'm in Creative media source, by the way), and did the firmware. Now I get the same error when I try to put all the old songs back on there. Tech's next email gave instuctions on how to reformat, but I got stuck in the middle because they gave me instructions for the wrong player! Next email said: "Here are the steps to format your player. It is not necessary to do the format now yet." Huh? Since I didn't know what else to do, I went ahead and tried to follow these steps:
    - remove the battery from muvo slim- connect the player via the cable to the usb port of system.- Open the device manager- Is there a recovery device class appearing in device manager?- Next update the latest firmware and follow onscreen instructions. (Ensure format data area is checked)
What is a device manager? Does any of this make sense? I'm running Windows 98.

Yes, I tried reformatting. That's where I got stuck on where the device manager is. The last person told me how to find it (thank you, by the way), but the next step said "is there a recovery device class appearing in device manager?" And there's not.
I asked tech support the same questions I posted here, and more, but they are giving me really confusing and garbled up info. Yes, I know they're trying their best, but I'm still frustrated. This is how they answered the same questions I posted here:
The other Options listed are Firmware update.Up-to-date firmware are equipped with fixes or additional features and we can also determine whether there is any problem with the current firmware on playerAnd the Setup of the Creative Player Bundled Software Creative MediaSource. For Transferring and Playback and Ripping of Song Tracks. Please also note that for any drm protected files, they have to be transferred over using theMediaSource program, due to the license issue.Your valuable feedback and understanding have been highly appreciated.
That did not answer one of my questions, and didn't make much sense. I know what I need to do is call and speak to a human being, but their hours are inconvenient with my work schedule.

    Hi dear's,
    I use Iri'ver IFP-890 and 880 before.
But, i buy a Muvo Slim/256, now.Battery life is good, Earphones sound quality is good. Menu system/button design and computer communications is extreme good Sound level is normal. Sound quality is good.Radio is very good for a mp3 player.Firmware quality is very good. But i dont find answer for this questions...Plug USB, starting charge... dont empty, plug reply USB, starting charge.. ...... recharge, dont empty, recharge, dont empty, rechargeis this a problem for Battery
Is there a option for dont charge request with per plug... ?If answer is a passi've USB, i can !And my firmware version is ..03
is there a possibility for increase the sound level ? ( Maybe a firmware ? )
I like Creative Bye from Turkey.

The Slim charges off USB, so there's no way to prevent this from happening when you connect it to the USB.
This isn't a bad thing though as the Slim uses a Lithium Ion battery which prefers to be top-up charged.

  • Muvo Slim download mp3 files only but not playing!

i just bought this Muvo Slim with 256MB memory.. if i plugged it on my computer it can be opened and still can download files.. but once you remove it from the computer, it wont open.. even the opening logo nor the the blue backlight won't open!, it started acting this way right after i plugged it on my friends mp3 (not creative) player.. it has a USB output connector, and 5volts output which is the voltage as a regular USB provides!.. can this still be fixed?.. cause i did tried loading the uograded firmware, and it did recognize the player, but when disconnected to the computer it just went blank!.. need help here! thanks!

On Linux you need proper GStreamer support to play mp3 files with the HTML5 media player.
    *media.gstreamer.enabled = true
*Bug 794282 - Enable GStreamer in official builds

Sometimes I have this problem but there are times when it plays in the normal way. Could someome tell me what is going on and what I have to do to fix this problem?

    hello,
i have a muvo slim mp3, and i've had it for almost a year. i am very pleased but recently i let the battery run out on a vacation and suddenly after it ran out its been randomly shutting off and there is a blank bar across the screen. i can see the top and bottom part of the screen but not hte middle. A few months back the battery holder borke but the case that came with it held it in. is this part of the problem?
    thanx in advance

All you can do with the MuVos is try reloading the firmware, although this sounds like a hardware fault.

  • Muvo Slim - Track starts playing automatically when turned

With my Muvo Slim 52, firmware .0.05, whenever I turn the unit on, it starts to play a track, EVEN if there was NO track playing when I turned off the unit. In a similar situation, after I have transferred files onto the unit - as soon as I disconnect the USB cable - the unit powers itself on, and the first track starts to play - before I even press the play button. QUESTIONS --- () Is "automatically playing track after power on" a normal behavior? (2) Is there any way to stop this i.e. so that a track only starts playing (or resumes) when I MYSELF press play? (3) If not, how can such a feature be requested in a future firmware revision?

    Jason,
Thanks. I just downloaded the latest firmware for my MuVo Slim (..03 -- previous version was .02.0) and it has corrected the problem! Perfect!
