Muvo Slim Battery probl

I have the Muvo Slim 256MB model no DAP-TD0008 with firmwire drivers ..03
The problem i'm having is the battery refuses to recharge. My initial thought was that the battery died completely from being drained and just simply wouldnt recharge, so I bought another one from the Creative website. I've had the new battery in my possesion for day, and it too, refuses to charge.
I have used multiple usb ports on multiple pc's (with the firmwire installed on each machine) and the battery never recharges, no matter how long I leave the player charging. I am also certain that it is not the chord itself. This is because I can still format, add, remove, and edit the playlist and software on the player through my pc's. It connects just fine and the pc's in my home recognize it just fine. Even the "charging" symbol on the top right corner is displayed while it's plugged in. But anytime I unplug it, the player immediately says that the battery is empty, and then shuts off.
I've been digging through the forums and have not seen another post describing this same problem.
ANY help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

If the player are showing the charging symbol then it should be charging. Remember that transferring files drain lots of battery. Perhaps you should let the player charge for a little longer -2 hours without doing any thing on the player like playback/transfer/etc..... and see if it get charged.

Ok, this might be a dumb question but i'm very green in the area of mp3 players. I recevied a Muvo Slim for christmas. After some reformatting problems, it now works great. (Thanks to this message board) Anywho, I was wondering how to know if your battery is charging? I know you have to plug it into your computer with the usb cord and I've done that, but does the battery icon flash or something? I think there is a little lightening bolt that comes across the battery when it's plugged into the computer. Sorry if this question sounds so dumb, I just don't know. :smileytongue:

Yes when it's charging, there is a lightning flash symbol flashing across the battery indicator.

  • MP3 MuVo Slim Battery

    Hi everybody,
A few days ago I found my MP3 MuVo Slim didn't run. Besides, the MP3 body was expanded or inflated. The reason was the battery. As I had leave the MP3 kept for long, with the battery into the MP3 body, caused by temperature or any other cause, the battery was inflated?and this supposed the MP3 body was inflated too.
The problem is I couldn't find any shop that sell this type of battery in Gran Canary, Canary Island, Spain. It seems to be that there isn't any CREATIVE distribuitor here. What is more, the Muvo Slim model is out of catalogue. What can I do?
If I try to buy one by Creative Site, what would be the cost of the battery and total cost taking into account deli'vering expenses?
Is buying a new battery worth, or It's better buying a new MP3, or even better choosing a MP4?
    I hope your anwsers.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bye

  • Muvo slim connection proble

    Hello,
I bought a Creative Muvo Slim MP3 Player.
I can't see my player at my computer. I have installed/reinstalled drivers and software many times, but it didn't help. When I plug it, player shows that it is connected, but windows don't see it.. I have Windows XP.
I have updated all my motherboard drivers.
    Help me out, please.

Open your device manager and check under 'Uni'versal Serial Bus controllers'. Do you have a Mass Storage Device listing there or you have some listing with unknown or an exclamation.
If the MuVo Slim is listed as Mass Storage Device under device manager then you may need to manually map your disk dri'ves, especially if your computer is connected to a network or if you have multiple dri'ves. We have an article on Knowledgebase on this.

  • Muvo slim probl

I've had my Muvo Slim 256mb MP3 player for 3 months now, and all of a sudden i realized that it wasnt recognized by my computer(XP)
I have tried reinstalling it again and again, i have also tried to change the letter dri've of the device to fix it but it doesnt show.
    -the connection is secure
-all of the USB ports are working
-the player works on my other computer(windows 2000) but that computer is a piece of crap, and doesnt have any of my files.
-"there are no drivers installed for this device" appears in the device manager properties
-my computer is a fairly new, with Windows XP on it.

    iwantanimac,
You are being so exaggerated about 0000 post regarding this player. Anyway back to your problem. Check in device manager when the player is connected and see if it's properly identify with no error under USB controller. If there's no problem shown in device manager then probably you will need to reassign a driver letter to the player. You can see the steps here to reassign the dri've letter.

  • MuVo Slim 1GB - Mass Storage Device probl

I have MuVo Slim GB and I copied there a 55 MB large file (not mp3, but .avi). Now I cannot get it out, the error message is "Cannot read". I can copy any of smaller files, I can move this large file to different folder (of the same mp3 player space). Any help, please?

"Can you play the file directly from the player (when it's connected and shows up as a memory stick)?"
    -- No, I can't.
"It's possible the file was corrupted during transfer, can you delete it and copy it again?"
-- Well, that's the problem. I was hoping not to do that, because the original file I can get just tommorrow.
"Did you put it in a folder originally?"
    -- Yes.

  • Does your Muvo Slim have this probl

When I have finished file transfer with my Muvo Slim, and disconnect the USB cable, sometimes ( out of every 3 times) the Slim will turn itself OFF (blank screen) and SOMETIMES it will turn itself on (the Creative logo displays, and then it starts to play a track.)
Has anybody else experienced any this erratic behavior?
Or, when you disconnect the USB cable, does your Slim always turn itself off, OR always turn itself on?
I contacted Tech Support, and they said I may have a faulty unit, and I am curious to see if this is happening with anyone else.
Incidentally, I am using the latest firmware version ..03.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

  • Need help - Error while updating the firmware of Muvo Slim using the recovery t

    Hi ,
While I am trying to update my Muvo slim firmware using the recovery tool it throwd up an error. And from then onwards if I am trying to power it up it won't.
If I again try to update the firmware, it throws up the error that "Unable to Write to Device: Device Time out".
I am afraid that my Muvo slim got bricked. Can you please help me in recovering the same.
PS: My PC OS is Windows XP.
    Thank & Regards
    ksraghava?

On my XP system, the last time I wanted to reload the firmware, I had to remove all of my Creative software programs,?and then revert my Windows Media Player back to 0 and then use The Recovery Tool. It is a bit of a pain, but does seem to work when you are getting errors with the firmware download.
    luvmyrescuedogs
Almost forgot. Make sure your player is fully charged or has a fresh battery before starting any firmware download.

  • [MuVo Slim] Charging from USB p

    Hi
Over on the Nomadness MuVo forum someone asked about how to charge a MuVo Slim when away from their PC as it charges via the USB port.
I answered that if all they needed was a powered USB hub then they could buy an external, self-powered hub and then connect the player to it, without it being connected to a PC.
Would this work or does the player need to be connected to the PC for the charging cycle to begin? Or does it just need the power that the port supplies?
    PB

Yes, I also tried this with a CyberPower 420 MP USB hub that is battery powered with an on/off switch http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/CPH420MP.asp But even with that hub turned on, it would not charge the Slim unless I connected the hub to a PC.
I use the Zen Micro charger to charge my Slim when I'm not near a PC. I had read an SSR post on this board where he recalled that someone had said that combo (Slim and Micro charger) would work. The Zen Micro charger provides 000mA, which is high for a flash MP3 device (higher is good) from 5V. So I tried it and it has worked fine. (I had a Zen Micro as well as the Slim, so it cost me nothing extra.)

  • MUVO SLIM 1 GB with firmware 1.13.02 garbled so

    Hi,
Since a couple of months I have the following problem
After I have downloaded several times music to my player I get all of a sudden garbled sound. The other day I was listening to a podcast and turned it off. Then when turning it back on the again ( hour later ) the podcast was completely not understandable. From now on all other songs sounded weired as well.(metal sound ) Even erasing all songs and putting new ones had the same effect. The only thing left to do is to re-firmware the Muvo Slim again, then everything works normal again ( for some weeks )
    I have also tried :
    - not to upload the firmware , but just formatting the dri've in FAT or FAT32 , but this doesn't help.
    - remove the battery for some time
    - no mix of WMA and MP3 songs on the player
when listening to the mp3's that are on the MUVO player via the pc ( thus via the removable dri've) , there is no corruption in the files.Everything seems to be perfect.
So the usb flash dri've has no corruption.
The playrate seems to be ok , but the sound seems hardly recognizable.
I have tried to find something to reset my Muvo (instead of reimage ), but have found anything yet.
    Please help.

Well, as I have said ,the problem seems to go away after I have done the firmware update again. But after a while the problem start again with no apparent reason
I always download the firmware from the creative website.
so at least I'm sure the firmware file I have is not corrupt.

  • Muvo Slim Format Er

    Hello,
I'm am having some trouble with my Muvo Slim Mp3 Player. I got it a while ago and it was working fine until one day, all the music was erased and it stopped working. I tried to get it to work myself, having some knowledge on these kinds of things and all I could get was this error. When I was opening the Removable Disk folder it said "Disk J: is not formatted, would you like to format now?", I chose yes, and it would bring up a window. The program would run until the end, and then an error message would come up saying "Cannot format Disk J:". I don't know what else to do, and I've called up your support lines and they don't know what to do either. Maybe you have some ideas?
WinterSafe InnovationsMessage Edited by WinterSafe on 0-0-2006 09:39 AM

Please remove the battery and connect the unit to a PC.
Any data and/or music on the unit is to be lost. Do not continue unless you can accept that the unit will be erased.
    Download the following firmware file:
    http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?MainCategory=23&Product=0052&dlcentr ic=9425&Product_Name=MuVo+Slim&OSName=Windows+XP
Be sure to select "Format Data Area" before you start the upgrade process. Once the Close button becomes acti've, click it. Now, go into My Computer, right click on the MuVo 'removable dri've' and select Format.
Format the dri've in the FAT32 file system.
Use the safe hardware removal icon (green arrow near the clock). Once unplugged, you can replace the battery. The player should now operate normally.
If this is not the case, please contact customer support and request an RMA. Note that this only applies if the player is under 2 months old.

  • MuVo Slim transfer er

Hi. I'm frustrated with the tech support I'm getting in email, so hopefully somebody here can help me. I had songs on my slim and everything was working fine until all of a sudden, I started getting this error message. It says: error tranferring file. There is an option at the bottom not to show this message for all other transfers, and a countdown at the top that automatically closes the window in a few seconds.
Tech support said to d/l the new firmware, so I saved all my songs (I'm in Creative media source, by the way), and did the firmware. Now I get the same error when I try to put all the old songs back on there. Tech's next email gave instuctions on how to reformat, but I got stuck in the middle because they gave me instructions for the wrong player! Next email said: "Here are the steps to format your player. It is not necessary to do the format now yet." Huh? Since I didn't know what else to do, I went ahead and tried to follow these steps:
    - remove the battery from muvo slim- connect the player via the cable to the usb port of system.- Open the device manager- Is there a recovery device class appearing in device manager?- Next update the latest firmware and follow onscreen instructions. (Ensure format data area is checked)
What is a device manager? Does any of this make sense? I'm running Windows 98.

Yes, I tried reformatting. That's where I got stuck on where the device manager is. The last person told me how to find it (thank you, by the way), but the next step said "is there a recovery device class appearing in device manager?" And there's not.
I asked tech support the same questions I posted here, and more, but they are giving me really confusing and garbled up info. Yes, I know they're trying their best, but I'm still frustrated. This is how they answered the same questions I posted here:
The other Options listed are Firmware update.Up-to-date firmware are equipped with fixes or additional features and we can also determine whether there is any problem with the current firmware on playerAnd the Setup of the Creative Player Bundled Software Creative MediaSource. For Transferring and Playback and Ripping of Song Tracks. Please also note that for any drm protected files, they have to be transferred over using theMediaSource program, due to the license issue.Your valuable feedback and understanding have been highly appreciated.
That did not answer one of my questions, and didn't make much sense. I know what I need to do is call and speak to a human being, but their hours are inconvenient with my work schedule.

  • LCD on MuVo Slim is dead.

The LCD on my MuVo Slim 256 player is not displaying any text or images. Up until now, the player has been great.
The MP3 player still works, that is, it will turn on/off and will play music, but I cannot see anything on the display. The display will light-up blue when powered on/off, but no text or images...nothing. I cannot tell how much battery is left, what song I'm on, etc.
Unfortunately, because I cannot see the menu options, I can't determine if the LCD's settings are just too low to be displayed or what the issue is. Very frustrating.
I had previously downloaded the firmware update in January to address another issue, which it did. I formatted the MP3 player and re-installed the firmware, but I still can't read the LCD.
    Thanks for your help.Mike B.

If you've updated the firmware and it hasn't returned then unfortunately it has failed. You'll need to contact Creative Support.

But, i buy a Muvo Slim/256, now.Battery life is good, Earphones sound quality is good. Menu system/button design and computer communications is extreme good Sound level is normal. Sound quality is good.Radio is very good for a mp3 player.Firmware quality is very good. But i dont find answer for this questions...Plug USB, starting charge... dont empty, plug reply USB, starting charge.. ...... recharge, dont empty, recharge, dont empty, rechargeis this a problem for Battery
Is there a option for dont charge request with per plug... ?If answer is a passi've USB, i can !And my firmware version is ..03
is there a possibility for increase the sound level ? ( Maybe a firmware ? )
I like Creative Bye from Turkey.

The Slim charges off USB, so there's no way to prevent this from happening when you connect it to the USB.
This isn't a bad thing though as the Slim uses a Lithium Ion battery which prefers to be top-up charged.

  • Creative MuVo Slim 512 Mb can´t be recharg

I have only used one charge of battery of my MuVo Slim since I bought it about 0 days ago and now, I couldn?t turn it on.
When I plug it in into the USB port it the "z" marc of charging does not appear. It is like the MuVo is thinking that the battery is full (that is not true because was almost empty) and don?t want to recharge it.
After reading some posts here, I tried the "plug-unplug-battery-method" but It isn?t work yet. I installed the software that came with the device.
    Any suggestions?

I have tried to recharge my Muvo Slim in another computer, but unfortunately nothing happened, in other words, the muvo still not recognize the battery. If I unplugged the USB cable when the battery is in the device, the display turn on for a few seconds and then the empty-battery-alert appears and turn off the mp3 player.
    What else can I do?
