Muvo Slim Not playing fi

My recently purchased Muvo Slim is no longer playing music files. It will play Audible files since I upgraded the firmware. When I try and sync the device with WMP0 the program locks.
I've looked all over the KB to no avail. Actually, the whole KB is really quite lacking in content. I've filed a customer service request but I'm not hopeful. Does anyone know how to reflash to a previous firmware? I think my problems began with the new firmware for Audible files.

I had the same problem, less then 48 hrs after buying a Slim.
I had reformatted it and did so in Fat32. I then had that error. Reformat it as FAT and it will work agian.
(To Reformat ...
Open "My Computer". Find the "Removable Storage Dri've" the Muvo made, and right click it. You will see this:<IMG src="http://www.acsontario.biz/help/muvo_reformat_step.JPG">
Select the option "Format".
<IMG src="http://www.acsontario.biz/help/muvo_reformat_step2.JPG">
Select the dropdown box option of "FAT".
Click "Start" and it will reformat. For a faster reformat you can select "Quick Format".
SECONDLY ..... the new "Scroll" feature works by HOLDING THE JOG WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT to 'ff' or 'rw' thru the song, like you would with an old CD Player, tape deck or VHS machine.Message Edited by kmodorex on -3-2004 03:23 AM

  • MuVo Slim Cannot Play w

I bought a MuVo Slim 256MB but apparently i can't play the music stored in it... The other functions are working fine. Can someone help me ASAP. Thank you.

Do these WMA files have Digital Rights Management protection? e.g. are they from an online store. If so, you must transfer them with MediaSource or Windows Media Player.

  • Nomad MuVo will not play after deleting and re-installing so

I hope this question has not been answered anywhere in the forums and I have missed it. If so, I am sorry. I have looked and looked at all the discussions, and nobody's advice has been able to fix my player yet. This is the second MuVo I've had that has had this problem. I deleted songs from my player, but now when I try to play the new songs I put on the player, I get nada. I press the play button, and as soon as I let go of it, it turns red. Won't play. The songs are definitely on the player, and I can play them on my computer, but not through the MuVo. I have tried everything suggested on the Creative support site, and everything people have suggested through this forum - nothing works. Creative says my product has reached the "end of service" life and will not give me customer support. Might be time to buy an ipod, but I thought I would give this one more try. Please help!!

Sorry, should have been more articulate in my description.
During the installation of Livetype, after choosing the destination for livetype to be _Application support_ and starting the installation, the program goes up to 20% during the writing files procedure... and stops.
    Says Please try install again.

  • Muvo Slim download mp3 files only but not playing!

i just bought this Muvo Slim with 256MB memory.. if i plugged it on my computer it can be opened and still can download files.. but once you remove it from the computer, it wont open.. even the opening logo nor the the blue backlight won't open!, it started acting this way right after i plugged it on my friends mp3 (not creative) player.. it has a USB output connector, and 5volts output which is the voltage as a regular USB provides!.. can this still be fixed?.. cause i did tried loading the uograded firmware, and it did recognize the player, but when disconnected to the computer it just went blank!.. need help here! thanks!

On Linux you need proper GStreamer support to play mp3 files with the HTML5 media player.
    *media.gstreamer.enabled = true

  • Muvo Slim - Track starts playing automatically when turned

With my Muvo Slim 52, firmware .0.05, whenever I turn the unit on, it starts to play a track, EVEN if there was NO track playing when I turned off the unit. In a similar situation, after I have transferred files onto the unit - as soon as I disconnect the USB cable - the unit powers itself on, and the first track starts to play - before I even press the play button. QUESTIONS --- () Is "automatically playing track after power on" a normal behavior? (2) Is there any way to stop this i.e. so that a track only starts playing (or resumes) when I MYSELF press play? (3) If not, how can such a feature be requested in a future firmware revision?

    Jason,
Thanks. I just downloaded the latest firmware for my MuVo Slim (..03 -- previous version was .02.0) and it has corrected the problem! Perfect!

  • MuVo Slim issue - randomly playing tracks

I recently bought a MuVo Slim 256MB MP3 player and have uploaded an assortment of tracks (5) from various artists, albums, etc. I'd like the player to randomly select from all of the tracks, which are not stored in separate folders.
    This feature works, that is, it randomly selects from the 5 tracks (i.e., starts at 26, 49, , 7, 0, 24, 28, , etc.).
But, when the unit is turned off (holding down the play/pause button) and then back on, the unit will start the music playing at the last track played (say , for example...which is perfect), but then it will jump back to the first randomly selected track 26 and will continue in the previous order (i.e., 26, 49, , 7, etc.). As a result, most tracks are never actually heard because the list always starts back at the begining. Very frustrating.
I've tried the different random options, but nothing seems to get the unit to deviate from it's defined random list.

    Jason,
Thanks. I just downloaded the latest firmware for my MuVo Slim (..03 -- previous version was .02.0) and it has corrected the problem! Perfect!

  • MuVo Slim top of display not show

I have a Muvo Slim 256MB firmware ..03. The entire top line of the display is blank. The only part of the display that works is the second line, the song titles. I have recharged it regularly but that doesn't help. Any ideas of how to fix this? Is it fixable? Thanks

You could try reloading the firmware to see if that helps, but it's possible it's a hardware problem (ie something is faulty).

  • Creative MuVo Slim and WM

I recently bought a MuVo Slim to supplement my Zen Micro. I like to use WMP0 to organize mu music library and I use playlists heavily. I find that the best way of managing my music os to organize it in playlists the way *I* want them and then synch selected playlists with my device. This works flawlessly with my Zen Micro (using MTP firmware of course).
But this does not work at all with my MuVo Slim. WMP will transfer music OK and organize it in a folder structure like this on the MuVo Slim:
    \Music\<Artist>\<Album>\<Tracn name>.mp3
This is fine except that my MuVo Slim won't recognize any music at all. I have played around a bit and moved my music files manually so it's all under one single top directory, e.g. \Music\<Track name>.mp3. The player will then find the files but there is no way to tell WMP0 to organize the music this way, neither do I want it organized like this. I assume the problem is in the firmware and lack of support for multiple subdirectories. I find little (read no) information about this in the manual or other placed I have searched.
Can anyone confirm this limit and confirm if there is a update planned that will make the device work with WMP0?
The device is useless to me right now and I'm about to send it back if there is no solution to this (using a different software to manage my music library is not a solution for me).
    Anyone?

I organize all my music by playlists in WMP0 and depending on my mood I would like to quickly chose which playlist to synchronize with my player. That's why I don't want to do it all manually. And besides, because of the current 2 level directory limitation of the player it won't recognize all the music when I fill the player all the way up ( GB). That is, unless I rename files and reorganize them. That's just too much of a hassle so throwing it out the windows seems the only logical choice, at least that gives me some weird sort of satisfaction.....
BTW I have a track record of destroying things that does not work as expected. I once invited both the Sales Director of Compaq in my country (before the merger with HP) and the local computer press to witness as I made a big fire of 36 Compaq laptops that my company had nothing but trouble with. The Sales Director of Compaq didn't show up but the computer press did. Needless to say it was a lot of fun.
So don't you make the mistake of not beliening me when I say I'll throw it out the window :smileyvery-happy:

  • LCD on MuVo Slim is dead.

The LCD on my MuVo Slim 256 player is not displaying any text or images. Up until now, the player has been great.
The MP3 player still works, that is, it will turn on/off and will play music, but I cannot see anything on the display. The display will light-up blue when powered on/off, but no text or images...nothing. I cannot tell how much battery is left, what song I'm on, etc.
Unfortunately, because I cannot see the menu options, I can't determine if the LCD's settings are just too low to be displayed or what the issue is. Very frustrating.
I had previously downloaded the firmware update in January to address another issue, which it did. I formatted the MP3 player and re-installed the firmware, but I still can't read the LCD.
    Thanks for your help.Mike B.

If you've updated the firmware and it hasn't returned then unfortunately it has failed. You'll need to contact Creative Support.

  • Muvo Slim Mp3 songs skipp

I just got my new 256Mb Muvo Slim two months ago and now the songs are begining to skip as if I was fast forwarding the song, and I know I have'nt dropped it. The radio still works fine, and it seems to only be skipping in the songs that i have downloaded, the songs from CD's burnt onto my computer work fine but anything not from a CD skips the whole way through the song. I have all the right software and I dont have any detectable viruses. Can a Mp3 have a Virus and does Creative warranty cover any reapairs or replacements

    Davidthefirst,
You mention that MP3 ripped from Audio CD works fine but not downloaded music files. Where does those come from? From the way I see it, I don't really think the player is faulty since it plays fine from those MP3 ripped from your own CD. My guess would be those downloaded files are corrupted.

  • Muvo Slim acting up when colder than 25 degrees celc

I recently bought a 52mb muvo slim player and was satisfied the first couple of weeks.
Now when the winter has come i am starting to have difficulties starting the player outdoors aswell as indoors.
Everything looks nice at first, the creative logo is displayed on the lcd, then the Muvo slim logo appears. After these logos the player dies. A restart results in the same behavior. BUT, if i hold the player in my hands for a minute or so i am able to start it, play a few songs with the player in my fairly warm pocket, then it dies again and the same procedure is required to get it going.
    Firmware is ..03.
Any toughts on this problem? Anyone else been experiencing these wierd errors?

Well, thanks for all those answers! First I'd like to say that creative doesn't give a **** about their customers if they are not in asia or the answer to their problem would be like this: Dear Customer! Our softwares doesn't worth a piece of ****. Regards, XY My mp3 player is still won't turn on every ~3 weeks if I don't install the same (last) firmware again. But a few weeks ago I setup my new computer and I use Vista x64 on it. As you have guessed it already the firmware updater doesn't support Vista x64 or x86, but here's the surprise: it doesn't support XP x64 either! That's wonderful! Creative and Pinnacle are racing in front of my very eyes to get the Worst Support in the World prize! The latest driver (not working well) for Vista for my Audigy 2 ZS is almost a year old (thx daniel_k!), the latest (not working well either) firmware for my muvo slim for XP is almost 2 years old!Thank god I still got 2,5 months left of my warranty, I will return it ASAP once they can offer me another player that has a reasonable price. Creative's prices ARE way off! Thanks for (not) reading!

  • Muvo Slim upside down disp

I have a Muvo Slim 52 firmware ..03 that became briefly immersed in salt water. When I turn it on it plays normally but the screen is uniformly blue and nothing can be read. When I disconnect it from the computer and press the menu button the screen is normal in all respects except that it is upside down. It will remain normal indefinitely but if I power it off and try to turn it on I am back to the blue screen. I reloaded the firmware to no avail. I tried to put it in recovery mode, but it won't seem to go into it. Is there any way to fix this?

It is dry, the battery holds a charge, and as i say, it works. Older models, but not the slim, had an option to turn the display upside down and so I imagine that a salt crystal perhaps is jumpering some area on the circuit board that does this. To that end I took it apart, 2 screws, no problem and lifted out the circuit board and cleaned it with a toothbrush. No help. But there is an area beneath the LCD which appears to be soldered on where i can't get access. Perhaps the short is in there. Next plan is to get some electronics cleaner with a straw attachment and blow out under there unless someone has a better idea.

  • MuVo Slim 1GB - Mass Storage Device probl

I have MuVo Slim GB and I copied there a 55 MB large file (not mp3, but .avi). Now I cannot get it out, the error message is "Cannot read". I can copy any of smaller files, I can move this large file to different folder (of the same mp3 player space). Any help, please?

"Can you play the file directly from the player (when it's connected and shows up as a memory stick)?"
    -- No, I can't.
"It's possible the file was corrupted during transfer, can you delete it and copy it again?"
-- Well, that's the problem. I was hoping not to do that, because the original file I can get just tommorrow.
"Did you put it in a folder originally?"
    -- Yes.

This situation occur unexpectedly when my player was working properly..Message Edited by xlynx3 on 05-6-2005 2:7 AM

For me it was the USB port on the player. It never did quite seem right as we had to push it in a little too hard to make a good connection. This lasted a couple of days at best befor the computer wouldn't recognize, charge, etc.
If the player is only 5 days old I would suggest bringing the thing back and replacing with a new one. With that said I would first check another device on your computer to be sure it's not a problem on the computer end...maybe try a different port if there is more than one...just get all your ducks in a row to know for sure it's the player...with it not working properly anyway I'm sure it is.
