my os is XP..
This situation occur unexpectedly when my player was working properly..Message Edited by xlynx3 on 05-6-2005 2:7 AM
For me it was the USB port on the player. It never did quite seem right as we had to push it in a little too hard to make a good connection. This lasted a couple of days at best befor the computer wouldn't recognize, charge, etc.
If the player is only 5 days old I would suggest bringing the thing back and replacing with a new one. With that said I would first check another device on your computer to be sure it's not a problem on the computer end...maybe try a different port if there is more than one...just get all your ducks in a row to know for sure it's the player...with it not working properly anyway I'm sure it is.

My Muvo is stopped working...please he
Well, not to long ago my Muvo player stoped working. It is a basic 28MB muvo MP3 player. When i press the play/pause button the player doesnt play music, and show the green LED. The LED now blinks red as if it was on pause, I can not find a way to stop this from happening, the only way seems to be to take out the battery. But this doesn't solve the problem of not being able to play music. I have looking thought the website FAQ's and tried to download "frimware" for my player but as I only have Windows 98, there is no firmware avaliable. So I am stuck and am using this forum as a last chance to get my much valued Muvo back, please help me!!!
Thank you
Laurai tried to download the firmware but that didnt work on my computer, any other suggestions? it was working for about a year before this problem happened, could it be something which is wrong with the actual player?

The disk drive in my iMac 8,1 has stopped working, so I now use an LG 8x Slim Portable that works. However, every time I use the LG drive, I lose contact with my Time Machine back-up drive that has to be deleted and reinstalled. Help!
It's not Logic that can't find them, it's your Komplete apps, though if you did exaclty as you say I can see no reason why they can't.
Do you know where the apps installed them in the first place? I chose a non-standard locarion for mine, but I'm sure it installs sounds to your documents folder/native instruments/name of app.
Go into the prefs of each app and choose the library location button on the library tab and point it to the relevant folder in documents/native instruments and see if that works

MuVo Slim works perfect except Recovery Device Mode. H
Hello,
Recently my MuVo Slim has started to be recognized by my PC as a STMP3500 device and so I have run the "Mass Storage Drivers" programm to make it a Player Recovery Device to handle it.
Currently everything about the device works perfect except causing extra work while connecting to the PC: I have to run the Firmware update program each time I want to browse the files in MuVo Slim.
Only after the message "A device has been detected in recovery mode and is being initialized. Please wait..." is seen, recognizes the PC the MuVo as an external storage device. (Thereafter I simply close the window of firmware update program)
Btw, at that point if I click 'start' and upgrade the firmware of MuVo (or downgrade, that makes no difference) it is then again not recognized by PC! In this case, I have to go through the step I've described again: Run the Firmware update program , see the "A device has been detected in recovery mode and is being initialized. Please wait..." message and close the firmware update window, and so on...
Now what I'd like to learn is if there 's a way to skip this step of making the PC recognize the MuVo Slim? Please remember that my MuVo Slim works perfectly except that.
ThanksDoes anybody have solution? I still have to run Firmware Update program
"MuVoSlim_PCFW_LF__3_02.exe" each time I want to browse files within my MuVo Slim.

I have a Creative MuVo mp3 player and recently it stopped working. It would not turn on, even after i tried new batteries. The device still functioned as a removable hard dri've though.
However, now my computer won't see the device. I plugged it in and the computer launched the "add new hardware" wizard and wanted to install a driver called stmp3rec.sys or something. Now it won't see the dri've at all. Does anyone know how to fix thie problem? I an running Windows 2000 BTW.
Thank you,

Muvo Slim, sound only in one ea
Hi
I have this (huge i think) problem. When i am going to hear music with my Creative Muvo Slim player, there is only sound in the left earphone. I have just bought a new pair of earphones today, so i found out that, they weren't the problem. It's a little hard to explain but i actually can hear sound in both earphones IF i don't "plug" the cable all the way in to the player. You can kind of say that there is 2 clicks where number 2 is all the way in. If you plug it one click in and turn the cable a little around, i can hear sound in them both. But that just dosn't work, cause if i move then it stops working.
How can it be that this has happened, and what do i do? It's pretty frustration to be listening to music in only the left ear...
RasmusI have tried 2 pairs of earphones, and pair of headphones, the problem is there with them all. So i think i can pretty much conclude that the player is screwed. I'm going to send it in to get a new one. Anyway, thanks for you help ~

Hello,
I'm am having some trouble with my Muvo Slim Mp3 Player. I got it a while ago and it was working fine until one day, all the music was erased and it stopped working. I tried to get it to work myself, having some knowledge on these kinds of things and all I could get was this error. When I was opening the Removable Disk folder it said "Disk J: is not formatted, would you like to format now?", I chose yes, and it would bring up a window. The program would run until the end, and then an error message would come up saying "Cannot format Disk J:". I don't know what else to do, and I've called up your support lines and they don't know what to do either. Maybe you have some ideas?
WinterSafe InnovationsMessage Edited by WinterSafe on 0-0-2006 09:39 AMPlease remove the battery and connect the unit to a PC.
Any data and/or music on the unit is to be lost. Do not continue unless you can accept that the unit will be erased.
Download the following firmware file:
http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?MainCategory=23&Product=0052&dlcentr ic=9425&Product_Name=MuVo+Slim&OSName=Windows+XP
Be sure to select "Format Data Area" before you start the upgrade process. Once the Close button becomes acti've, click it. Now, go into My Computer, right click on the MuVo 'removable dri've' and select Format.
Format the dri've in the FAT32 file system.
Use the safe hardware removal icon (green arrow near the clock). Once unplugged, you can replace the battery. The player should now operate normally.
If this is not the case, please contact customer support and request an RMA. Note that this only applies if the player is under 2 months old. -

As far as I can see my options are to try and roll back via pacman -U in my /var/cache... or to figure out how to make my Nvidia HDMI output work using Synergy...
I suspect this is some type of driver regression (kernel/mesa/xorg) but am not sure as I have not seen much information about this issue online.
Unless someone has a better idea... when I get time to try to resolve the issue I will update this post.

Last edited by scmurcott (2014-10-13 19:12:07)So I downgraded those packages and the kernel with no luck.
I tried to get the HDMI working via Synergy... and failed
I then tested the Display Port on Windows and it did not work there either - exhibiting the same symptoms as Linux - the OS sees the monitor but no data was transferred.
So I ended up using one of my Display Link monitors at work... the USB monitors were ok, just an irritation with a flickering mouse.
I hope it is the miniDP>HDMI adapter and not the port... very frustrated by this problem.
I hope to test another adapter soon.
I think as nobody else is experiencing this issue that it may well be hardware/firmware related.
Hope there is a happy end to this post but not feeling so positive right now. -
Need help - Error while updating the firmware of Muvo Slim using the recovery t
Hi ,
While I am trying to update my Muvo slim firmware using the recovery tool it throwd up an error. And from then onwards if I am trying to power it up it won't.
If I again try to update the firmware, it throws up the error that "Unable to Write to Device: Device Time out".
I am afraid that my Muvo slim got bricked. Can you please help me in recovering the same.
PS: My PC OS is Windows XP.
Thank & Regards
ksraghava? On my XP system, the last time I wanted to reload the firmware, I had to remove all of my Creative software programs,?and then revert my Windows Media Player back to 0 and then use The Recovery Tool. It is a bit of a pain, but does seem to work when you are getting errors with the firmware download.
luvmyrescuedogs
Almost forgot. Make sure your player is fully charged or has a fresh battery before starting any firmware download.

[MuVo Slim] Charging from USB p
Hi
Over on the Nomadness MuVo forum someone asked about how to charge a MuVo Slim when away from their PC as it charges via the USB port.
I answered that if all they needed was a powered USB hub then they could buy an external, self-powered hub and then connect the player to it, without it being connected to a PC.
Would this work or does the player need to be connected to the PC for the charging cycle to begin? Or does it just need the power that the port supplies?
PBYes, I also tried this with a CyberPower 420 MP USB hub that is battery powered with an on/off switch http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/CPH420MP.asp But even with that hub turned on, it would not charge the Slim unless I connected the hub to a PC.
I use the Zen Micro charger to charge my Slim when I'm not near a PC. I had read an SSR post on this board where he recalled that someone had said that combo (Slim and Micro charger) would work. The Zen Micro charger provides 000mA, which is high for a flash MP3 device (higher is good) from 5V. So I tried it and it has worked fine. (I had a Zen Micro as well as the Slim, so it cost me nothing extra.) -

It charges via its USB socket, so you can't use the Xtra's power supply.
What is displayed in screen and can i use drag and drop transfer method from windows explorer?
It works as a flash dri've, so appears as a dri've letter in Windows Explorer.
Finally can i use the mediasource 3.20 softwear update i now use with my zen or must i input different mediasource version for slim than one i use with the zen? thanks matt
Go to Nomadworld.com downloads and you'll see the Slim listed there with MediaSource and the MuVo plugin. -
My recently purchased Muvo Slim is no longer playing music files. It will play Audible files since I upgraded the firmware. When I try and sync the device with WMP0 the program locks.
I've looked all over the KB to no avail. Actually, the whole KB is really quite lacking in content. I've filed a customer service request but I'm not hopeful. Does anyone know how to reflash to a previous firmware? I think my problems began with the new firmware for Audible files.I had the same problem, less then 48 hrs after buying a Slim.
I had reformatted it and did so in Fat32. I then had that error. Reformat it as FAT and it will work agian.
(To Reformat ...
Open "My Computer". Find the "Removable Storage Dri've" the Muvo made, and right click it. You will see this:<IMG src="http://www.acsontario.biz/help/muvo_reformat_step.JPG">
Select the option "Format".
<IMG src="http://www.acsontario.biz/help/muvo_reformat_step2.JPG">
Select the dropdown box option of "FAT".
Click "Start" and it will reformat. For a faster reformat you can select "Quick Format".
SECONDLY ..... the new "Scroll" feature works by HOLDING THE JOG WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT to 'ff' or 'rw' thru the song, like you would with an old CD Player, tape deck or VHS machine.Message Edited by kmodorex on -3-2004 03:23 AM -
USB scanner stopped working after PC upgrade
I have HP Officejet 4500 all in one printer. It has both USB and ethernet connections.
This week I have upgraded all PC components (so everything is new) except SSD drive so that I was able to continue where I stopped working.
However, my USB connection with printer stopped working.
First of all, I need to say, that I had to make scanner working over ethernet, so now my printer/scanner works without USB, but:
1. what may be the reason to stop USB connection working?
scanimage -L has usually expected output:
scanimage -L
device `hpaio:/usb/Officejet_4500_G510g-m?serial=CN141F219005CQ' is a Hewlett-Packard Officejet_4500_G510g-m all-in-one
but sometimes:
scanimage -L
and sometimes:
scanimage -L
device `hpaio:/usb/Officejet_4500_G510g-m?serial=0' is a Hewlett-Packard Officejet_4500_G510g-m all-in-one
When I try to scan over USB:
scanimage --format=tiff > test.tiff
scanimage: open of device hpaio:/usb/Officejet_4500_G510g-m?serial=CN141F219005CQ failed: Invalid argument
sometimes it stucks and sometimes:
scanimage --format=tiff > test.tiff
scanimage: open of device hpaio:/usb/Officejet_4500_G510g-m?serial=0 failed: Invalid argument
I have tried all steps on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Scanner site. I remind, that on the old PC it was working correctly. The problem appeared after upgrade.
2. The output of lsusb is:

When I try to connect to front USB 2.0 slot I get the following messages:

I don't have any such problem with rear USB.

The cable is quite long. It has about 1,5m. Unfortunatelly, I don't have another cable to test it. Strange is, it was working before.... -
Ok, this might be a dumb question but i'm very green in the area of mp3 players. I recevied a Muvo Slim for christmas. After some reformatting problems, it now works great. (Thanks to this message board) Anywho, I was wondering how to know if your battery is charging? I know you have to plug it into your computer with the usb cord and I've done that, but does the battery icon flash or something? I think there is a little lightening bolt that comes across the battery when it's plugged into the computer. Sorry if this question sounds so dumb, I just don't know. :smileytongue:
Yes when it's charging, there is a lightning flash symbol flashing across the battery indicator.

MUVO SLIM 1 GB with firmware 1.13.02 garbled so
Hi,
Since a couple of months I have the following problem
After I have downloaded several times music to my player I get all of a sudden garbled sound. The other day I was listening to a podcast and turned it off. Then when turning it back on the again ( hour later ) the podcast was completely not understandable. From now on all other songs sounded weired as well.(metal sound ) Even erasing all songs and putting new ones had the same effect. The only thing left to do is to re-firmware the Muvo Slim again, then everything works normal again ( for some weeks )
I have also tried :
- not to upload the firmware , but just formatting the dri've in FAT or FAT32 , but this doesn't help.
- remove the battery for some time
- no mix of WMA and MP3 songs on the player
when listening to the mp3's that are on the MUVO player via the pc ( thus via the removable dri've) , there is no corruption in the files.Everything seems to be perfect.
So the usb flash dri've has no corruption.
The playrate seems to be ok , but the sound seems hardly recognizable.
I have tried to find something to reset my Muvo (instead of reimage ), but have found anything yet.
Please help.Well, as I have said ,the problem seems to go away after I have done the firmware update again. But after a while the problem start again with no apparent reason
I always download the firmware from the creative website.
so at least I'm sure the firmware file I have is not corrupt.
