MuVo transfer prob

I tried to transfer 8 songs onto my MuVo - 4 from CD's and 4 protected downloads from MSN Music using WMP. When I check the MuVo dri've in Windows Explorer, all 8 songs are present. When I disconnect the player to listen, only the 4 songs from CD's are on the player. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

jb207,
In addition to Mattan advice, you will also need to transfer WMA DRM protected files through either Mediasource or Windows Media Player to the player. Only such application allow the license to properly transfer over to the player.

  • Muvo NX prob

I am having a bit of a problem with my Muvo NX. It's been working great for about 6 months now, but yesterday when I was moving some files onto it, it stopped mid-transfer. I tried to restart the transfer but it froze again. I tried to delete the files in question and it froze again. I reformatted the player, tried with some other files, but came up with the same result. It seems to fill up at about ~30MB (its a 256MB unit). It seems to have no problem accessing the files in the first half of memory. Any recommendations are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt

() Stated MB capacities are always approximate, especially because of the differing uses of powers (some say ,024, others says ,000) as well as formatting, storage for player-related files, and other issues.
    (2) You may also have filled your root directory (about 30 files); sometimes the error message when this happens is along the lines of "disk full". Create some directories and move your files into them.
    (3) And the ".trash" folder probably was trash.

  • N200 - Win2000 transfer prob

Dunno if anyone has had this problem. Got an N200 a month ago, had loads of problem with it until I updated to the new firmware. I've tried it on 3 computers which all have XP and it works like a dream, can copy files to and from it with no problems.
But when I use it on my PC with Windows 2000 Pro (with ServicePack4 installed), I can transfer files from it but can't transfer to it. I've read the forums and tried several things (renaming mp3 file, uninstalling drivers and reinstalling drivers, etc etc). I tried to transfer just one mp3 to a folder and it got halfway through (58%) and just froze. I took ages for my computer to kick back into life again and an error message popped up saying it couldn't write to dri've. I then tried to safely remove the dri've but said i couldn't as in use and to try later. I then unplugged it, replugged it in and now it doesn't recognise it (it's gone back to the standard usb driver, like it's deleted the muvo drivers). I reinstall the muvo drivers and reboot, it now recognises the N200 again. Try copying a file to it again and the whole sorry process starts again.
It must be a win2000 thing or something, as it's works like a dream on XP. But before anyone suggests it, can't afford XP at the moment!! I have usb ., if I could get a USB 2.0 card would it be more reliable? I dunno, can anyone tell I'm now clutching at straws!!!!

Thank you again for your quick reply.
-Yes I've been using Win Explorer to drag and drop my WMA files and that worked before my f/w update.
-I ripped my own WMA files with Win. Media Player 0 @ 92kps with "Copy protect music" unchecked.
-I have just tried to use the WMP0's Sync function to copy the files instead. I noticed an xml file being copied. However, when I try to play the songs, the same problem is still there.
-I would try with Media Source or the MuVo N200 Media Explorer, but my paths/filenames/songnames are a mix of Chinese, English and Japanese, and Creative software doesn't recognize them (can't access the file from Media Explorer). If I change my regional settings, I can only choose one language at a time + english. (Also interestingly, the MuVo correctly displays all these lanugages in the LCD but doesn't work with PC software)
Is there anywhere I can find a previous version of firmware, other than .6 and .5?
    Thank you again.

  • Strange file transfer prob

We have two Creative units, a Muvo and a Zen. Using the Creative Library software we can download (totally legal) music to the Zen but the Muvo gives error messages about insufficient information to transfer files. Some files have gone over easily and the Muvo appears to have plenty of spare space. Any ideas please?

Just today I got the following error:
"There is not enough disk space at the destination for this transfer."
I attempted to select all of the music files on my NOMAD to transfer to a new empty folder on my HDD. I used the options within MediaSource to create a new PC library. Then proceeded to initiate the transfer when the error message occurred.
If I select less than 300 hundred songs the transfer works, but selecting several thousand songs fails.
I have over 00Gb of space on the HDD when I was attempting to transfer all of my music from my NOMAD Zen Xtra 30Gb.
I use WinXP Professional with all known updates.
My HDD uses the NTFS file system.
I also use a RAID array comprised of two 250Gb Western Digital RAID edition Caviar SATA dri'ves.
I am using Creative MediaSource 3.30.2
My NOMAD Zen Xtra uses firmware .03.02

  • Muvo TX Prob

I received a Creative Muvo TX for Christmas as a present. I enjoyed using it, but nearly immediately, I experienced problems.
What has been occurring is whenever I use my player, eventually, after an indeterminate amount of time, the player will freeze in the middle of playback and will emit a buzzing noise into the headphones. At that point I cannot turn the player off or adjust anything. It leaves me no options but to remove the unit from the battery pack and wait a while, then try again. Sometimes, it will not even progress past the opening Creative logo at all. Thinking it may be something to do with a corrupt file or something similar, I formatted completely the memory and started anew, using only one song as a test. That song froze as well. I also checked to upload new firmware, but I already had the latest version installed.
Thinking I may have overlooked the simplest solution, I installed a new battery and it appeared to help, but less than a half hour into playback, I was experiencing the same problem again: the player froze and emitted this buzzing/static sound into the headphones.
This is utterly frustrating and I await any help I can get on the situation. Thank you in advance.

I don't have the same problem as you, but something a little similar. My Muvo TX will freeze once or twice about 30 minutes after putting in a new battery. Once I get past these, the device works fine again until I put in a new battery. Before it freezes, I will hear a little static. It might be interesting to try your Muvo with a battery that doesn't have a full charge and see if it does any better.

  • Zen Nano Plus transfer prob

Am having trouble transferring .wma files to my Zen Nano Plus even though it has 590MB free. When I try to transfer anything using Creative Source I keep getting a "transfer error" message. Have tried reorganising files into folders to cut down on memory used in the root folder - but it doesn't seem to help. It's even stopped letting me transfer between folders. Has anyone else had this problem.. Anyone know what to do??

I'm having the exact same problem with my Nano Plus, and I've only had it for a little over 3 months. I contacted technical support and they told me to download the Firmware update and gave me these directions:
    Zen Nano Plus Firmware Update:
    http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?Product=2720&dlcentric=9423&Product_ Name=ZEN+Nano+Plus&OSName=Windows+XP
To install this firmware upgrade, do the following:
    - Connect your player to your computer.
    - Double-click the firmware upgrade file.
    - When prompted to set your player in Recovery mode, disconnect your player from your computer.
    - Press and hold the Play button while connecting your player to your computer's USB port.
    - Continue to hold the Play button for about 0 seconds after connecting your player to your computer.
    - Release the Play button when the "Find New Hardware" dialog box appears on the computer screen.
    - Follow the instructions on the screen to install recovery drivers for your player.
    - Double-click the firmware upgrade file and follow the instructions on the screen. Ensure to select the "Format Data Area" option within the Update.
However, at step 6 my computer did not recognize my player with it being on and neither did the Firmware. I responded to Technical Support and told them this. They said it seemed like it needed repaired or replaced! Even though there is a -year warranty, there is only a 3 month labor warranty, which means if you send it in to get fixed and it has passed the 3-month labor warranty, you have to pay a $24.95 diagnostics and handling fee. If you're in this situation, they said the best thing to do is try to exchange it wherever you bought it first. I hope this helps!

  • HT4053 4 to 5 transfer probs.

    Hi,
I'm trying to transfer all my iphone 4 content to an iphone 5. doing it through itunes and it is asking me for different ID with certain apps and on icloud less than half of the apps restore on the new phone.
anyone got some idea how I could just transfer all my old to new without losing so much.

It sounds like some apps were purchased using one (or more) different Apple IDs.  You do not own those apps, so you will need to obtain the permission of the owner to use them.
The way to do that is for the Apple ID owner of the apps not owned by you to "Authorize This Computer" in iTunes on your computer.  You can find the "Authorize This Computer" link under "Store" in the iTunes menu.
Have the owner authorize your computer using their Apple ID and password, then sync to your iPhone.

  • Muvo N200 prob

I have a muvo n200 which for the past few days has turned itself off when ever i tried to increase up the volume. I tried to resintall the latest firmware upgrade but now my player has stopped working. When I turn on the player all i get is dots on the lcd screen with the backlight on. I tried to reinstall the firmware again and the firmware cant find the player connected to the computer, although windows explorer detects the device. Please can you help. Thanks in advance.
    Model muvo n200 GB
    Computer dell optiplex gx270
    windows 2000 service pack 4

If it's recognised on the PC, try formatting it first and then try updating the firmware again. If you can try the player on another PC, try updating the firmware there to see if it works.
Otherwise it would be best to contact Customer Support for assistance, the player could be faulty.

  • MuVo Noise Prob

I got my MuVo GB about 6 weeks ago. It was fine until yesterday when it started making a weird whirring noise on the mp3 tracks. I have changed batteries a few times and changed headphones, so that is not the problem. It sometimes happens that I play a song and the sound is there, then I play it again and it is gone, but 80% of the time there is this awful electronic loud background noise that drowns out the music almost. The noise is in synch with the music being played. Is it a reading problem with the player? If I hook the player to my PC and use the PC to play the track from the MuVo memory there is no problem. Any thoughts on this? I figure I will have to return this player to the shop/Creative for a replacement. How long is the guarantee for anyway? Thanks for any suggestions.
    Stephen.

I formatted the flash dri've on the MuVo N200 and it made no difference to the noise problem. Then I looked on the Creative site and found reference to a "distortion" noise in the frequent problems section. I updated the firmware and this seems to have solved the problem.

  • Zen MicroPhoto connection problem/file transfer prob

My wife had a Zen MicroPhoto player that she used for audiobooks. About a month ago it started having "no device found" problems with the Media Explorer. She bought a new player, and it's no better. The Media Explorer will not install. I tried installing it separately, and the installation hangs, because it cannot find the player. She is using the Organizer now to transfer files, but she much prefers the Explorer. Many of the audiobook discs have the same file names (e.g., Track , Track 2, Track 3,....,etc.). When that happens, with the second and subsequent disks, she gets a message asking whether to replace or skip the duplicate files; the file names are the same, but the disks have different album names. Is there a workaround for this?

I thought Creative's customer support was bad, but this "discussion forum" sucks big time -- not a single reply. Thanks....

  • Zen touch transfer prob

Hi, I'm running win2k usb2.0. I'm only able to transfer about 7 mp3 files before nomad tells me that an unknown failure occurred. The zen touch then stays in docking modus and I have to reboot it. Can someone tell me why that is?

Could be a lot of reasons. Have?a look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

  • ZenTouch - Transfer prob

    Hi,
I?ve a problem with my 20G ZenTouch. I?m using the play for sure firmware (feels like a big mistake). Most of the time my player is recognized by the system but when trying to transfer mp3?s to the player it starts to copy one ore two songs and then suddenly stops, saying i?ve to reconect my device wich is not possible only if i reboot the player. The problem comes with the mediaplayer0, mediamonkey or when i just try to drag and drop.
    idea anyone ?
    Thanks

Look at the FAQ at the top of the board and specifically check for "I can't seem to fit any more files on my flash player yet I have free space, why?"

  • Transfer prob

I have a muvo2 4gb, and when I try to copy files i get "delayed write failure". Using XP and just windows explorer to copy the music (didn't like the creative software). It used to work fine but just recently started doing this.
The song will get copied and will play but it is corrupt, or something, and sometimes part way through the song it will switch to a completely different song with no interruption or anything, and the song NAME remains the same as the one that was originally being played.

Try a disk cleanup. To access the Rescue Mode on the MuVo? unplug the player from your computer and remove the battery from the player. Press and hold the Menu button while inserting the battery back in the unit. Release the Menu Button. The player will display Recovery Mode in its LCD screen.
Failing that, try it on another PC to see if you get the same problem. This will give you some idea of where the problem lies.

  • Creative zen micro transfer prob

When using Napster to transfer songs to my zen micro mp3 player the following happens.
License storgae is not working.Contact microsoft product support.
When I hit click here for more information nothing happens.
It has worked previously without any problems! Can anybody help??

Here is a list of things to check:
) Confirm you have Windows Media Player 0 installed on your XP SP or later system.
    2) Confirm your Zen Micro has the latest 2.x firmware (2..02 Beta or later). The .x firmware does not support N2G. Download the 2..02 Beta firmware from http://us.creative.com/support/downloads
    3) Confirm KB8922 "Update for Windows Media Digital Rights Management-enabled players" is installed on your XP SP or later system with WMP 0. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922 for details.
    4) Confirm your Zen Micro's system time is synched to the system time of your computer.
    5) Confirm XP and the Napster client recognize your Zen Micro is connected. It should display under the "Portable Device" object in the "Library" window of the Napster client. The Zen Micro Display should read "Docked". See if you can transfer files using WMP 0. Confirm the Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer version .00. ( http://us.creative.com/support/downloads ) can access your Zen Micro. Can it transfer tracks to the device?
    6) Confirm your firewall is not interfering with the connection to Napster or to the internet for current date and time. Consider disabling firewall, Antivirus, and Spyware Scanners as a diagnostic step to troubleshoot your transfer issue.
    7) Consider reinstalling Windows Media Player 0 and KB8922.
    8) Check the USB cable connection. Determine the USB chipset on your system. There are forum threads where users resolved transfer problems by installing a new USB Adapter with a different chipset or determined the problem was the USB cable. You can also troubleshoot by attempting the transfer on another computer (if available).
