Muvo TX SE 1gb squeaks between tra

hey,
just bought the gb Muvo TX SE player. Everythings ok but it makes squeaking noises between tracks. Not sure if its cause I installed the firmware straight away. Anyone have this problem, can it be fixed or is defecti've?
cheers

If it makes you happy - I think I have the exact same problem with my recently bought MuVo 52 TX. When I turn the player on I hear sort of buzzing/whirring static noise in my headphones. It changes a bit when I press volume buttons, albo it as if "reacts" when I am skipping folders using menu - every time I skip a folder there is a "buzz" (apart from that there is a regular buzz in the background).
My friend who has muvo 52 TX FM has no such problem. I am sure this is not a problem with headphones because I connected them to iPod mini and they played fine.
I wrote creative support about this and they suggested me to do a firmware upgrade.
After I did it the player "died" - I read many people have the same problem:
http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=95672#M95672
I will have to return the player to the store I bought it in.

• Muvo TX 512MB : clicks between tra

I have just purchased a Muvo TX 52MB.
Everything is working OK except the following annoyance :
I hear two clicks at the beginning of each track, just before the song begins.
I guess it's not normal (no real hi-fi playback) but do all units have this problem or not ?
I've got the latest firmware.
Any ideas ?

Thanks, nafoka.
Thus, I guess it's a general problem with the Muvo TX series ?
I have sent a request to the support, they just suggest to upgrade the firmware; however, the device was already up tp date when purchased ! No other clues, so far.
I notice that Creative Muvo TX is not as good as it appears... The brand is well known, however... I've been using a Sony portable MiniDisc player for a long time and never had any problems. MiniDisc remains hi-fi, even after conversion from MP3 to ATRAC.

• How to get rid of the 2-second delay between tra

I have a creative muvo tx fm 52, how do you get rid of the 2-second delay between tracks?

That's true, but THAT gap might not be 2 seconds; it's just barely noticeable on my Zen Micro (far less than a second, though I hear it may be longer with subscription tracks), though that might not be true for a MuVo. (My SanDisk flash player's gap was just barely longer than my Zen Micro's.)
OTOH, if the music was ripped from CD-Rs, the 2-second gap might have been inserted by the burning software if it burned the disc "track-at-once". Though otherwise I'm a fan of WMP 0, it's very bad for burning because there's no way to avoid the 2-second gap, and few if any burning programs that do will burn DRM'ed WMA files. If the files aren't WMA DRM, re-burn the CD with a better utility; if they are, edit out the gap with a good ripper like EAC, or after ripping with audio editing software. But recognize that it won't be 00% gapless on any Creative player, and if you want truly gapless playback on your PC, you'll have to rip to WMA, not MP3. (MP3 gaps can be made inaudible, but they can't be eliminated.)
That's one of the reasons why if I purchase an album as a download, it will probably be from iTunes--even though I don't own an iPod and don't want one. Its burning and cover-printing utilities are far easier to use than most WMA utilities, and the "burn-and-rip" method means no WMA DRM problems. (I know some audiophiles won't like it, but it works just fine for my ears.)

• A Problem With Recording: Delay Between Tra

I recently purchased an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro to replace my ailing Audigy 2 Platinum from a few years back. I've been trying to do some home recording (namely with Sony's Acid Pro 5.0) and I've been noticing some delay between tracks when I record.
For example, I will record one track, and then record a second track, playing along to exactally what I hear. When the second track mixes down, there is an offset between the two tracks on the order of two or three tenths of a second. This offset produces a noticible doubling effect, and requires me to go in and move the audio track around so that it plays properly.
I've tried other programs (Audacity and n-Tracks Studio) so I figure it's not something wrong with the program. My computer is new, it's running an Athlon 64 3400+, with over a gig of ram, so I can't imagine it's a problem with my computer.
Anybody have any thoughts or experience with problems like this?

Latency issue.
If you can select ASIO drivers (audio settings) on your software then use it and set latency on ASIO panel to ~ 5 ms.

• MuVo TX SE 1GB formatting prob

I've been reading a lot of questions and answers, but I still couldn't find my question, so I post it here... I have a problem with my MP3 Player. I have a MuVo TX SE from Creative. (GB) I can not format my MP3 Player anymore. I can start up the progres, but afterwards it gives a system error or nothing on my computer works anymore. When I plug it out, the computer is functioning normal again. I also tried to format my MP3 Player with the program that goes with this MP3 Player. But again, the same problem. When I want to add music to my MP3 Player, I get the message I have to format it first. Eventhough I have an empty screen when I look at the file list. I hope someone can help me.... And that I made the problem clear for the one that can perhaps solve it. Thank you!

I dont really understand what you mean. I'm not a real expert in these kind of things. Also my MediaSource Organizer isn't working properly. It gives a messages that my PC Music Library is corrupted. And I didn't even have used it yet. I feel the problem lies with my MP3 Player. That something it damaged in it.. I wonder if there a more people with this problem. I've had this MP3 Player for about a year now. And now it's having problems.Kind of a bummer actually...

• Muvo TX SE 1GB - Strange Noi

I bought a Muvo TX SE GB yesterday and everything seems to be fine, except some kind of strange beeping and whirring noise (that a cd player sometimes makes). I have read other threads with this problem, but no one has actually told how they got rid of it (that is, IF they got rid of it). I have tried the firmware for the muvo TX: NOMAD MuVo TX Audible Firmware Upgrade .0.05
Is this the correct one for the muvo tx se? If so, it doesn't seem to work. I chose the option to format my mp3-player, and when I turned it on, it was still making the noise, even when it wasn't playing a song.
Please help, I couldn't find the answer elsewhere, and if it is there, I must have skipped it (if so, please redirect me) or it was written vaguely.
So I would appreciate any response, thank you.

• Muvo txfm can't navigate between audible's audiobo

Hi,
I'm having trouble figuring out how to navigate between different sections of an audiobook. For example if a title is split up into separate files i.e. part -3, I can listen to the first part but I can't find scroll to find parts 2-3. When I try scrolling the player freezes, and for some reason audiblemanager stores the audiobooks in the root directory(?)
If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

Nevermind. Just figured it out.
FYI for any other audible user having this issue:
The player has a problem navigating between audible files if they were batch loaded (i.e. selecting a whole set at a time on Audible Manager and then dropping them into the player.) If the files were added one at a time on Audible Manager the player navigates thru all of them just fine.

• MuVo Micro N200 1GB Disturbing noise when backlight

I have a very disturbing noise when the backlight is lit on my MuVo Micro N200? Is this normal?

Hi,
Very recently a noise, a very loud hissing sound is produced by my MuVo Micro N200 GB. I have this player since early in the beginning of the 4th quarter last year. Few weeks after a bought it, it will just flash "creative" and wont turn on. I returned it the vendor and they were able to fix it after 3 weeks. (Sorry for the long introduction)
Now after more than 6 mos. a very loud hissing sound is heard from it, you won't even hear the music, the recording is okay, the radio is okay only when you play MP3, you'll hear nothing but noise.
Sometimes when I turn it off and then on, it will disappear but then only after a few songs, it will start to hiss again. It's quite frustrating.

• Pausing Between Tra

I bought a Muvo TX a few days ago. When I play a continuious pieces of music split into tracks the MP3 player pauses for a second or two as it moves onto the next track.... quite annoying really when you expect to hear a nice seamless piece of music.
Is this a fault with just this product or are there any other Creative products with this syptom?
Is there a fix to this problem?

Technically it's known as "gapless playback". Search on this term in the FAQ.

• Line Protocol flapping between 2 routed ports over a 1Gb circuit

Hi,
We currently have a 1Gb circuit between 2 sites that is presented to us as copper ethernet on both ends.
One end is a Cisco 4948, the other a 3750E.
Our switching connect into the ISP NTE devices.
Both our switch ports are routed ports on a P2P subnet.
The A-end (3750E) of the circuit is showing up/up
But the B-end (4948) the interface flaps constantly (up then drops after 3 seconds). The time until the interface shows up again varies between 4-10 seconds.
Throughout the flaps there is not a time when we can ping between both switches.
The B-end switch has been replaced. And the cable between the B-end switch and the B-end NTE has been tested fully.
The configuration on the interfaces are fairly standard:
- ip address
- speed auto
- duplex auto
(I've tried all combinations of speed/duplex settings at both ends)
The ISP attended the B-end NTE and reported a loss of signal from our B-end Switch. They report that a test from the B-end NTE to the A-end is successful.
What further steps could be taken to troubleshoot this?
No configuration changes were made at the time of the issue.
Is this firmly an ISP issue to investigate?
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks,
Kyle

Hello
i am suprised the ISP didn't investige both end on this circuit !
- Have you check physically on the Nte device for errors ( rx -tx link LEDs etc )
- powered the Nte down -chaned the cabling BOTH of ends?
- used a different port?
- performed a TDR ?
- get the isp to attend site A

• Memory riser question

I have another 2GB (2 x 1GB) ready to install in my Pro when it arrives. I know that I should keep the 1GB (2 x 512) on one of the riser cards and put the additional memory on the other riser card. I’ve also seen it stated that the larger memory should be on riser card one and the smaller memory on riser card two. The question is can I pull out both riser cards, slide the one with the pair of 512MB modules into the number two position, add my new memory to the other card, and then slide that into the number one position, or do I need to pull the two 512MB sticks off the riser card its on and move it to the other card. Or more simply put can the position of the cards be swapped or do they need to be in their original positions.
Mac Pro Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Basically, for best performance you need to have Slots 1/2 on both Risers filled. From then, performance is best when you have RAM totals that are even (or 1GB difference) between them. So if you have 1GB RAM on Riser A you should have 1 or 2GB on Riser B.
There is NO difference between the Risers. They are both the same and should be treated as such.

• Windows Server 2008 R2 Slow LAN Transfer (Receive)

Using Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows Server 2008 R2
Two machines, connected via 1GB 1000base-T LAN, with a 1Gb switch between... and yes, I've tried swapping cables and ports. Server has two RAID5's, a 6 platter and an 8 platter. Workstation has two RAID5's, a 3 SSD and a 4 platter. Both sides using Intel
CPU's and a RealTek 8100C chipset Gb LAN, same LAN drivers.
Using Windows Explorer to COPY a 20GB file:
Server Disk1 to Server Disk 2: >250MB/s (Server disk I/O isn't an issue).
Server Disk2 to Server Disk 1: >250MB/s (Server disk I/O isn't an issue).
Workstation Disk1 to Disk2: >150MB/s (Workstation disk I/O isn't an issue).
Workstation Disk2 to Disk1: >150MB/s (Workstation disk I/O isn't an issue).
Server Disk1 to Workstation Disk2: 91MB/s (near 100% LAN utilization).
All looks good so far:
Workstation Disk2 to Server Disk2: 25MB/s declining to 17MB/s; occasionally as low as 9MB/s.
Some of the changes listed above appeared to work for a few moments. I've seen as high as 90MB/s for a few seconds, but it declines rapidly under 30MB/s... so no fix that has lasted.
It appears there is something in Windows 7 that prevents fast transmits; or something in Windows Server 2008 that blocks fast receives. I have set the server-side receive training to disabled, normal, highlyrestricted, and experimental and the Win7 side
to off, normal, and highlyrestricted in various combinations. Again, nothing concrete to report as an improvement.
What would the MS Gurus suggest I do with NetMonitor as far as capturing something worth their time to diagnose?

I've tried disabling auto tuning on the clients with no appreciable effect. The throttling feature however appears to have had an effect - changing the setting from default 10 to 70 has slowed the transfer from 20MB/s down to about an initial 6MB/s that
has slowed even further, and is now at 3.2MB/s (3% network utilization according to Resource Monitor at both ends of the wire - WS2008R2 and W7).
Question: What does the 10 (0x0a and 70 (0x46) represent: Mbps on the LAN, or 10% and 70% reserved, or?
I'll try the "off" setting of all FF's and add to this.
In any case, having a backup server that can't be utilized due to client "entertainment media" issues is a little painful... there should be a straightforward and published method to set the network to "normal".
UPDATE:
I've tried settings of 0, 10, 70, and FFFFFFFF. 10 might have been best, but only marginally better than 70. Range of time to copy was under 7 minutes to over 8 minutes. Very small difference.
But I also tried this using Windows Explorer and a Dataset of one folder containing 12.5GB of miscellaneous folders and files - and was surprised.
- Dataset is at \\WIN7\Dx\ = = Client physical RAID5 drive D:\Dataset
On WIN7 Client: Share drive D with Everyone as Dx
On WSvr Server: Share drive D with Everyone as Dx
On WIN7 Client: Map \\WSvr\Dx to Z:
On WSvr Server: Map \\WIN7\Dx to Z:
On WIN7 Client, using Windows Explorer:
-- Copy Dataset from Local Drive D: to Network Drive Z:
-- Took about 8 minutes, with 20% network utilization.
On WSvr (2008 R2 Server), using Windows Explorer:
-- Copy Dataset from Network Drive Z: to Local Drive D:
-- Took about 3 minutes, and 70% network utilization.
Why does running the copy from the server allow better network utilization and net throughput?
UPDATE2:
I am NOT using HOMEGROUP; I have a dedicated workgroup network the client is a member of, and the server is a DC. I'll eventually try joining the client to the domain and see if that changes anything, but doubt it will so haven't taken the time yet.

• Ethernet port on 2010 iMac won't operate at Gigabit speed, but requires router to be set at 100 Base-T.

For almost a month I have been experiencing internet connection dropouts with my vDSL line, which had previously been stable for about six weeks since I changed ISP. I have an initially wired setup, from the router to my Time Capsule WAN port and from there to my 27" iMac Ethernet port. I bought new Cat 6 cables on setup.
During the router setup I was advised to set the active port at the Gigabit setting. Finally having discounted all other possibilities, the router manufacturer support engineer suggested I reset this back to the default 100 Base-T setting: and this has resulted in a stable connection once more.
Surely my iMac should offer functionality at Gigabit Ethernet transfer speeds? Otherwise the Airport home network is dependent on what my computer's Ethernet port can manage.

If you Google for non Flash speed test site you will find at least two, I have no idea how good they are hence not putting any links in the post.
As for pin pointing the problem, the only way I know short of having access to the internals of the router and TC including firmware source and test equipment is by producing the fault and swopping the various pieces of equipment out. Having access to the internals is way beyond anything I can do and swopping the parts out seems expensive.
From past experoence of Gigabit issuses I had it was usually down to cabling or faulty connections in the RJ45 sockets, this was quite common. As for the incompatibilty, one way to test is to put a 1Gb switch between the router and the TC.
I would not presume either the router or cable are good until proved.
There is always the possiblity that more than one piece of equipment is faulty, rare but I I have had it happen before.
Not a lot else I can say, perhaps someone else as more thoughts and can help.
