MuVo TX

I recently purchased a 52 MuVo Tx SE but am having trouble gettting Windows (XP Home) to recognise it. When I first plugged it in, Windows recognised it and installed it as a USB Mass Storage device. After restarting my computer, it didn't appear as removable storage device in My Computer. After 5 minutes or so it finally did but when I try and open it, it says please insert a disk into dri've G. I've tried plugging it into a different USB slot and removing the device and installing it again using Device Manager, but neither solved the problem.
Anyone know the reason for this? Is it a software problem or a problem with the player? Unfortunately I don't have another PC to try and connect it to.
Any help much aprreciated.Message Edited by CherrySB on 07-22-2006 05:5 PM

Did you load the driver on your pc? Do you have a Zip dri've in your pc? Some people have had a problem with software for the Zip dri've interfering with their mp3 player being recognized.

  • MuVo does not show up in "My Comput

I have an Emachines 2.92 ghz system with 024 ram running Windows XP and I <EM>do</EM> have Adminstrati've rights. I installed the software on my computer as instructed. When I rebooted and then attached the Muvo txfm to my usb port. The Muvo screen shows the moving USB icon as pictured in the instruction manual but it was NOT recognized in "My Computer".
There was something under "Control Panel" called Muvo system folder I think and when I clicked that, it said there was no dri've connected and that I should connect the dri've to the USB port. But it already was connected. I tried another USB port but the system would not recognize it from there either. It is listed in Device manager under dri'ves and there is <EM>no</EM> question mark or exclaimation mark there or anywhere in Device Mgr. but when I select the dri've to go into "Properties" the computer freezes for about 20 seconds. Then properties opens up and it says "there is no problem with this device." A window came up in my taskbar saying there was a problem with hardware installation so the device may not work properly. I disconnected all usb devices and connected the Muvo again but it doesn't show up. Then I rebooted, attached the device again but still the same problem. Then I unistalled the software and attached the device to the USB port and a window came up saying the hardware was installed and the device was now ready for use but it still is not in "MY Computer" so I am unable to access the device to do anything with it. It <EM>is</EM> in Device Mgr as "disk dri've" now. Then I deleted the device from Device Mgr and rebooted. I installed the driver update called "MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250.exe" from your website and then plugged the Muvo into the USB port again and it showed up there as Muvo TXFM but still not in My Computer listing.
I tried to install the Firmware update from your website called: "MuVoTXFM_PCFW_LF__9_0.exe" but because the Muvo doesn't show up in "MY computer" it is unable to find the device and it just hangs as it looks for the device.
OK, now I'm thinking the Muvo is a defecti've player so I plugged it into my 998 Dell computer running Windows Me. with no software installation at all and it showed up in "My Computer" in a matter of seconds. I even put a song on it from the Dell computer. So wassup?
    Thanks for your help
P.S. I also did these two registry fixes allowing permissions on both (but they were already set to that anyhow) so it did not fix it:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB
And also I downloaded and installed the three microsoft fixes I found on one of the many posts I read on this forum for media player and something else. I cant remember what, I am just so exhausted!

Connect your player and find its entry in Device Manager. Click on Remove then disconnect player. Also select Show Hidden Devices and remove any extra entries for your player.
Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and remove the MuVo drivers, Mediasource and Media Explorer software.
Reboot PC and then re-connect player - it should be detected immediately by XP.
Another thing it might be is if you are using a front-mounted USB port on your PC - these don't always supply enough current. They allow the player to be seen but not enough to actually do anything with it.
If you choose View Devices by Connection in Device Manager with the player connected and drill down to find the entry for your player, you can look at the properties for the controller and hub that it is connected to. One of these shows the current equired and the current available.

  • Having a Problem with WMA DRM and Muvo TX FM - Upd

No elapsed time problem with WMA DRM or other protected files from:
    Napster
    WalMart
    Audible.com.
Elapsed time problem with WMA DRM from:
    Netlibrary.com
This is an update on the problem that I described below:
    Windows Media Player
One problem I had was that Windows Media Player would not recognize my muvo players. It turned out that because I was using a USB hub for the players to connect WMP was not recognizing the players. When I used a direct line to the USB port on the computer, WMP has no problem recognizing the player.
    Digital License.
As a test, I bought a WMA song file from WalMart to see if its Digital Rights Management was compatible with Muvo. There was no problem with the correct elapsed time showing. I will also test a file from Napster and add its license details here.
Here is something else I noticed - the differences in
the license for the two types of WMA files:
The one from WalMart - which works fine with the
    elapsed time on the MuVo:
This file can be played an unlimited number of times
Collaborati've play for this file is not allowed
This file can be burned 0 more times<<<
This file can be synchronized an unlimited number of
    times
The license for this file can be backed up <<<
    For the one from netlibrary.com
This file can be played until 4/9/2005
Collaborati've play for this file is not allowed
    This file cannot be burned
This file can be synchronized 3 more times until
    4/9/2005
The license for this file cannot be backed up<<<<
I have been able to copy WMA with DRM audiobook files to my TX FM, but the elapsed time doesn't change with either play or fast forward. The file is from Netlibrary.com which supplies audiobooks to public libraries. The file plays, but the display stays all zeroes.
I have been sending information and getting replies and suggestions from both Netlibrary support and Creative technical support with no solution. I have the latest firmware and everything else. I have the problem on both Windows XP and Windows 2000 computers. I have downloaded several files, but none of them show elapsed time. I suspect it is something to do with the DRM, because I can play a preview file from Netlibrary - without DRM - with no problem. I also have no problem with other files copied over - from Audible, from CDs, etc.Message Edited by alex20850 on 03-30-2005 07:54 PMMessage Edited by alex20850 on 03-30-2005 08:4 PM

I'm primarily using my TX FM for netlibrary.com audiobooks and also get all zeros on the display.
I've been steadily complaining to netlibrary and my local library about problems/inconveniences, itcertainly is experiencing growing pains; we're the ones getting the pain, though!
I'll post here if I find a (legal) resolution to this.
What firmware version do you have? I have .2.04 and I see that .3.03 is available for download. I've read here that there are problems with .3 with volume limiting and I'm hesitant to change. I do notice that one of the listed fixes is:
Updates the elapsed time displayed during navigation within a long recorded track
so, maybe this is the answer?

  • MuVo N200 - A whole host of probl

Not wanting to sound cocky, but I think I can answer my own problem here before you all join in, but hey, who knows, I might be wrong. I think my N200 needs returning to Creative for some serious surgery. Here's "the list":
+ When transferring files with WMP0, a random number of files on the list to be copied will complete successfully. Then, an error message such as "The Server threw an exception" appears. According to Microsoft's Web "Help", this is because an MPEG2 video file is trying to convert and won't. Somehow, I don't think this is the case.
+ If I choose not to convert the files before transfer, it's blind faith as to whether they will all copy or not. In a sync list of 80 items, the transfer will fail seven or eight times on average. No error from media player this time, it's a windows balloon tip saying "delayed write failed". I have to remove and re-connc the muvo to continue the transfer.
+ Using MediaSource, the same error as above occurs after transferring EVERY track.
+ If, by some miracle, I manage to get the songs I want onto the muvo before dying of old age, it's the a 50/50 chance that when I unplug the muvo and switch it on, it will say "file system error", switch itself off and when re-connected will be as blank as the day it left the factory.
+ Alternati'vely, it will be fine until a random amount of time later when it will switch itself off, and then when switched back on it will give the file system error.
+ If, miraculously, it has got through the day without wiping itself, when plugged back in media player will not always be able to remove old songs from the player, and will therefore declare it to be full after copying just track onto it.
Now, before you all jump up, let me just explain the following:
I have ALL the latest drivers, firmware, updates and widgets for Windows, Media Player, MediaSource, the MuVo, my USB ports, my motherboard, and every other piece of hardware just in case it's a conflict. There is nothing else I can download.
I've tried re-installing the firmware (in fact I'm having to do this on an almost daily basis).
I've tried it on a friend's computer: no change, same problems.
I've tried using a fresh install of windows with all the extra hardware stripped out of the pc, and i've tried the same system wit al the updates. Same problems.
I haven't EVER dropped the muvo, I don't li've next to a nuclear power station or on Jupiter.
I've tried using different kinds of batteries.
I've connected it in recovery mode, wiped it and started again. Repeatedly. Several times.
So, as I said at the top, I think I have a faulty muvo, b ut if anyone out there is thinking, "What a fool, he hasn't pressed the 'don't break' button!" then please, for the sake of my sahnity and rapidly receding hairline, HELP ME!
    Dave
p.s. My 0 year old sound blaster 6 works flawalessly and always has. My 5 year old sound blaster li've 5. works flawlessly and nearly always has. My zen touch works flawlessly, but is a replacement for a faulty zen xtra. Which worked well, but was a replacement for a faulty jukebox zen. Which work ok, but was a replacement for a faulty jukebox 3 (which had an awesome remote control). Anyone see a pattern here?

    davehelps:
The "delayed write failed" message suggests to me that you have write caching enabled for the N200 within Windows. This might be causing problems. I have this disabled - a side effect of this is that I don't have to use the Safely Remove Hardware icon before disconnecting the player (as long as I'm sure it is not being written to at the time).
    To disable write caching:
Open My Computer and right click on the dri've letter for your player, choosing Properties.</LI>
On the Hardware tab click on the N200 and choose Properties again.</LI>
On the Properties page choose the Policies tab and select Optimize for quick removal.</LI>

  • The MuVo V200 beltclip is a joke, Now I have no player. What Can I

Hello all, I'm very disappointed with the Muvo V200 Beltclip. I have had my Muvo since the 9th Jan 2005 and have been using it all the time and had no problems with it what so ever. But yesterday I had taken my player out with me. I had it connected to the beltclip as always. I had taken my headphones out of my ears when I was asking some bloke a question and did not but them back in till about 0 minutes later. When I put them back in I went to turn my player on, But I could not feel it, I look on my belt and all that was there was the dark grey clip that held the player to the belt. I still had the head phones but they must unplugged when the player fell. I retraced my steps but I had no luck finding my player.
All I have now are the Headphones and a dark grey clip, But looking at the dark grey clip there is a hole at the back, which I think something should have been there.
So as you can imagine, I'm very disappointed. What I would like to ask is, Is the loss of my player covered by the English Warranty?
Because I do believe the Beltclip had failed, letting the player fall from my belt. I done my best to find it, but as I said, to no luck.
All thats left now is the part of the clip and the headphones.

sorry for the poor pic (taken on my phone)Message Edited by DrMartin on 04-04-2005 0:42 AM

On the day it happened I was wearing a shirt that covered the top part of my jeans, So only the headphones would have let people know Im carrying a player, If someone was to take it, the only way to remove it would be to lift it, but I still had the clip part of the holder. If someone did take it by ripping it off I would have known about it.
Ok as for it not disconnecting from the headphones I don't know, My headphones did not fall with it, and I did not feel it falling. What I do know is that I have lost my gig V200.
I will phone Creative first thing Monday, But what I was looking for here was someone who might have had the same thing happen with the V200 or another MP3 player, and did the Warranty cover it's

  • Transferring tracks from Nomad Jukebox 2 to MUVO with Creative MediaSource Player/Organi

I recently installed Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer . When I transfer tracks from Nomad Jukebox 2 to my MUVO the tracks are transferrred as folders, not tracks (which the MUVO cannot play). How do I get the Nomad Explorer to transfer the MP3s as tracks and not folders? I'd appreciate your help.
P.S. I do not have this problem when I use Creative Playcenter to do a similar tranfer.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Perhaps there's some confusion with the MuVo Explorer, or plain Windows Explorer.

  • Creative Nomad Muvo stopped working - I think I tried everything... any ide

    Hello,
I received a Creative Labs MuVo 28MB MP3 player as a gift in May of last year. I used it once or twice and it worked fine, then put it aside. I picked it up again the other day, formatted it clean using the formatting software (old drivers) and started using it again. It worked fine until at one point it froze. I could not turn it off with the power button so I pulled the memory stick out of the battery pack. The MP3 player would not turn on again after that. I took it to my computer at work (different computer) to fix the dri've and was able to get the data off first, by installing it as a flash dri've, but after I transferred the data I installed the drivers and attempted to format the flash dri've. After this the dri've would not respond. I can plug in the dri've, either in standard or recovery mode and the computer will find it, but I cannot access the dri've through any means. I don't think the dri've itself is broken, I think that there is something corrupted on it that needs to be cleaned out. Unfortunately I have found no way to reset the dri've.
I have tried each of the methods outlined below on (3) different computers, both with USB . and 2.0 slots. I have tried:-The original drivers, the newest drivers, and the creative removable mass storage drivers-Formatting under windows with the newest drivers (dri've does not respond at all)-Formatting using the old drivers and the formatting utility (the program opens under the media recovery tab and the only thing not greyed out is "cancel")-Repartitioning the dri've under Control Panel/Administrati've Tools/Computer Management (the dri've does not show up, even though it appears up in My Computer)-Formatting the dri've using the Killdisk utility (it finds the dri've but says dri've not ready)-Installing the original firmware (this is interesting - I can plug the dri've in, holding down the play button, and nothing happens. When I run the firmware utility the computer finds the dri've, installs it as a player recovery device, but then the firmware utility tells me that the dri've is not in player recovery mode and to try again. If I try again it gives me the same message.)-Installing the updated firmware (It begins scanning, suddenly windows installs the dri've as a mass storage device [with Creative Muvo as a component] but after 3 minutes of scanning the utility says that there are no USB devices connected.)-Using a 3rd party flash dri've software tool (it finds the dri've, but when I go to format it it says that the dri've contains no media).
I am not sure what to do at this point, but I still believe this thing can be salvaged, if only there was a way to access it. Please tell me any tricks you know.
    thank you,-Aaron

I am having the EXACT same problem as you are!? It is SOOO frustrating!? I wish I could help you, but I wanted you to know that you're not the only one with the same problem.

  • Need help - Error while updating the firmware of Muvo Slim using the recovery t

    Hi ,
While I am trying to update my Muvo slim firmware using the recovery tool it throwd up an error. And from then onwards if I am trying to power it up it won't.
If I again try to update the firmware, it throws up the error that "Unable to Write to Device: Device Time out".
I am afraid that my Muvo slim got bricked. Can you please help me in recovering the same.
PS: My PC OS is Windows XP.
    Thank & Regards
    ksraghava?

On my XP system, the last time I wanted to reload the firmware, I had to remove all of my Creative software programs,?and then revert my Windows Media Player back to 0 and then use The Recovery Tool. It is a bit of a pain, but does seem to work when you are getting errors with the firmware download.
    luvmyrescuedogs
Almost forgot. Make sure your player is fully charged or has a fresh battery before starting any firmware download.

  • Muvo NX 256 no longer recognised by Windows and no recovery m

My Muvo NX 256 (firmware .0..07) has been working fine for months, until it intermittently failed to appear as a dri've when plugging it into a PC. Now, it always fails to connect. I've tried on different Windows XP PCs, so it's not a USB port issue. The player works fine standalone, but I cannot transfer any tracks to it.
I've tried to access recovery mode to use the "connect to PC" functionality, with no success:
    - holding "menu" while inserting the battery does not do anything
    - holding "play" while inserting the player in a USB port simply starts the player, and it still doesn't appear under Windows
    Any advice?
    Thanks

If recovery mode doesn't work then the player is faulty unfortunately. If you're still under warranty, contact Creative Support (although you can still contact them for an out of warranty repair).

  • Muvo TX FM will no longer connect via

My Muvo TX FM was hooked up to my PC via USB and it froze and didn't transfer files to the PC. I removed it and it still plays fine standalone but will not light up or be recognized by a USB port. Have tried 3 different PC's under Win XP and they do not recognize anything is attached. For some reason Knowledge Base article SID 4794 on how to restore does not include any Muvo except the Muvo2 and the method given for this player did not work. I have also tried hooking up to USB while holding down the on/off/play button, scroller button and both together, nothing. All files fromn the CD are loaded.
Emailed customer support and received a form reply telling me to do all the things I had done from the knowledge base already and then to repond to that email if it still didn't work. Did that Tuesday and no reply as yet. Totally inadequate service for a company of this reputation and size for what should be a simple matter.

Oh yeah I totally agree. Inadequate support staff. I have gotten all those same emails you did telling me to try things I'd told them I'd already tried. Its a bunch of canned responses. Maybe monkees run it. They sent a line to rate how helpful they were. I let them know pretty much what you said: it was shocking and crappy that a company that size and selling things that are not cheap that break after warrantee ends...its not right. Go in and send your own rating. I have a MuVo 2 Fm- just went DEAD. Won't power on, nothing. At least you still have sound.

  • What should I do with my MuVo Sli

Hi There. Basically im trying to get some advice on what to do with my Creative Muvo Slim (52 MB) DAP. I originally bought it 02/09/05 but had to get it exchanged on 02/4/05 because the backlight would never turn off even with firmware upgrades.
So I got the new one and everything has been working great until about a week ago. One day, I turned on my player and didn't hear anything. Restarted and it worked, but then after about two songs it froze. Had to take out battery to restart then it worked fine for about an hour. Suddenly a song was playing that I wanted to play a little louder, but the player froze again, but was still playing the song until it froze completely at the end.
Finally I took out the battery and restarted again. But I didn't play anything. I hooked up the original earphones and hit play, and it worked fine. But all of a sudden I VERY LIGHTY ran my finger across the player and it froze again. Then after about 20 times of testing, it turns out that the player ALWAYS freezes when im touching it. If there is absolutely no movement, it plays fine. If im careful, I can change songs, volume, settings, etc. But the only way to do so is like a surgeon while placing the player on top of my palm.
Finally after about 2 days, I was listening to it when it finally just turned off. It didn't want to turn on anymore for the rest of the day. I tried the next day and it worked for a while, so I backed up my music (All MP3's) then it shut down after a few minutes.
Since the first thing I thought was maybe a bad battery. I got someone to lend me the one from theirs. But it unfortunately didn't turn on. And when mine turns on, the battery has a full three bars.
Since this is getting kind of long, Im thinking it might be something hardware related, but I have never once dropped or mistreated this DAP in any way. Not a single dent on it. Hell, I never took it out of it's black case Except for the battery change. And whenever im not using it, I put it in a padded drawer all by itself. Locked, of course.
I bought this at circuit city for $39.99 +Tax , and this "Protection Plan" for another $34.98 paying a total of $86.52 w/Tax . I called and they said that it doesn't qualify for a return because the damage was done "Accidentally" and that it was My Fault. I said it was BS, so now im kinda stuck here. So in short ( Heh )

I'd try Circuit City again. If they still give you the "accident" BS, try the Better Business Bureau, your state's Attorney General, arbitration, or small claims court. If you need repairs while your dispute is pending with Circuit City, contact Creative Customer Support; you should still be under at least the parts warranty, and will only have to pay $25 for labor (which Circuit City should be made to reimburse you for).

  • "Disk Full" error message on Muvo TX FM 512, connected to Wi

The Muvo TX FM 52 connects fine to my Windows 2000 laptop, and my windows XP desktop, but when transferring files (drag and drop) I get an error message stating that the disk is full. Windows explorer and Checkdisk both report over 00 MB available. Not sure what to make of the problem, and am open to suggestions.

    - No, it doesn't appear. But, I don't physically have the player....it's with my daughter who li'ves in another town. According to her, it did not show up in My Computer. In fact, when she put the player into her USB port on the laptop, it didn't say "found hardware" or any message, which it usually does.
I know her laptop has Windows XP sp2, she has Windows Media Player 0, but not Creative Media Source, since we did not install the CD that came with the player onto her laptop. I didn't think it needed any drivers since it's XP. Isn't that correct? Or is that the problem?
2 - My other problem lies with the new MuVo TX FMG player I received yesterday. My PC has Windows XP Pro, no service packs. How come when I transferred music to it, nothing happened, shows "no music" when I turned it on. I saw all the files transferring. Yet when I go to explore the dri've on the PC, the music is all folders, like 50 of them? The music is there but doesn't show up on the player.
I used WMP to transfer the music, using drag and drop. I wound up deleting everything and transferred the same music using Creative Media Source and that works fine. I am very confused with both players. Thank goodness all I do is build and repair PCs!!! MP3 stuff is over my head I think!
Sorry, this post really should have been in two questions.

  • Songs no longer playing in order on muvo v

bit of an odd problem--recently my 2 gb muvo v00 stopped playing songs in alphabetical order for some directories. Some directories with numbered tracks are somewhat random--the latest album i put on went: 04, 05, 07, 08, 09, 0, 0, 02, 03, 06, , 2, 3. this isn't filesize order or tagged name order, the player's not on shuffle, and they're always in this order. Other directories play in normal order.
In another directory with about 00 songs--it goes in semi-random order, and repeats some songs before it has played them all (only sometimes--perhaps the first time it goes through a new group of songs(?).)
this started around the same time someone (not me!) got the brontok.c virus onto the muvo's usb memory. at least one album that played in order before stopped playing in order after the virus. i got rid of it with antivirus software, and subsequently reinstalled the firmware / reformatted (to .02.03, the same that was on it when i got it), and also held down the scroll button and turned it on into recovery mode and did a cleanup that way, but both times the problem remains. the player otherwise works fine but it's annoying not to hear albums in order. any ideas?
    Andrew

This is very interesting and I think it's related to my problem. I wonder if it has anything to do w/DRM [Digital Rights Management]?:
+This is something that recently started happening. I record a radio show with Audio Hijack pro. I import it to iTunes and it plays fine. I then find a small selection that I'd like to edit and keep. I open Fission and do my editing and save it. It saves under the name I assign it. I try to import the new file to iTunes and it doesn't load in to iTunes because the tag is still the same as the original file. I found this out when I used Finder to "Get Info." I changed the tagged name of the original file that is still residing in iTunes and then tried importing the new file to iTunes again. No go. I then double clicked the file in Finder to get it to play in iTunes. It played, but strangely enough, it didn't appear in the Music Library, but it did appear in the "Recently Added" section of the iTunes window. I used that appearance to change the Tags completely. I checked the "Music Library" after that, but the selection still did not appear. I tried dragging it from "Recently Added" to the Library, but it didn't work. I also tried dragging it to my iPod, but that didn't appear to work either.+
+I then tried a work-around and created a playlist with that selection and another selection and dragged that playlist over to the 'pod. The selection appeared on the 'pod, but only within the playlist, not the 'pods music library. I could play the new selection only via the playlist. It is still invisible to iTunes.+

  • Muvo V100 Won't Connect - How do I install the driver alone? Where on the disk is

First of all, I've read through the FAQ, etc., the Creative Knowledge Base, searched the forum, and read the manual, etc. and I cannot find an answer.
In short, all I want to do now is try installing the Muvo V00 driver alone to see if that fixes my problems with the PC not fully recognizing and communicating with the Muvo V00. And then maybe try using it on a friend's PC to see if it works. I'd have done that already except the friend li'ves quite some disctance. If that doesn't work, this thing is going back and I'm not sure I even want to try an exchange.
I'd be very appreciati've of any help you can provide. Thanks!
    My tale of woe:
I have a Windows XP Home PC and I cannot get the PC to fully recognize the existence of the Muvo V00. I've installed and uninstalled the software (Creative Media Explorer and Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer and I guess the driver) several times and the PC doesn't recognize the existence of the Muvu V00. I follow the installation instructions exactly and it just doesn't work.
I have tried using the Muvo V00 after uninstalling the software, and the PC recognizes that a "mass storage device" is attached, but it won't provide a dri've letter until I try to "Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device". And during the Safely remove process, which strangely gives me an hourglass for many minutes, it finally runs the Autoplay routine, but that gives an hourglass and never finishes and I have to cancel it. And then the "Safely remove routine" finally comes back and safes it can't be safely removed, try later, even though no other applications are accessing the Muvo V00. Then, surprisingly, the PC displays a dri've letter for the USB Mass Storage Device (the Muvo V00), but when I try and access it, all I get is an hourglass.
By the way, I'm in Information Technology so I somewhat know what I'm doing. So far, tech support has been less than helpful and has only provided a link to the Knowledge Base!

I have the same problem with my new Muvo V00. Before installing, I tried turning off all antivirus and every program I could think to turn off that I usually have running. My computer refused to recognize the Muvo V00. I called customer service, they sent me directions to do a clean install. This involves editing the things that load with windows so that nothing interferes with the installation. I tried that. (Now I get a nice boot up message asking if I want to load windows or go to the Restore utility.)
I found information in the Creative knowledge base about permissions. So, tried editing the permissions to the USB and USBSTOR. After everything I tried, either my computer would recognize the Muvo for a few seconds and then forget it existed, or my computer acted like I hadn't installed it in the first place. I've gotten the dri've letter after one reboot and lost the whole thing on the next reboot. The Creative software either didn't find the Muvo, or if it did, it froze when I tried to access the device from the menu.
I've used restore points to revert my computer to before installation, and tried reinstalling. I tried updating my bios (which got it to recognize the Muvo for the longest time ... about an hour. Then, my computer froze.
I tried downloading the dri'ves for the NOMAD as was suggested here. But that didn't work either. First, I got the message that I had newer drivers on my machine and the whole installation program closed. (Uninstalling the drivers and using the downloaded ones didn't work either.)
The weirdest thing is that my friend's computer recognized the device immediately. AND my computer fully recognizes her Muvo TX--even the creative software recognizes it perfectly!!
I'm at a loss. If my friend wanted to trade devices, all would be well. But she loves her TX.
Before I realized that my friend's Muvo TX works perfectly, I was convinced that my Windows XP was corrupted or something. Apparently, it's not.
If anyone can give me any advice or help (there might be something out there that I haven't tried), I'd appreciate it. The thing is that the V00 was a gift. I'd hate to have to ask for the receipt to return it, but that's what I may end up having to do.
Good luck to all with similar problems.
