MuVo V100 - disgusting localisat

I got muvo v00 model mounth ago, remembering manufacturer of my first sound card ) Buying CL I expected having no problems with sound quality. But I got a couple of other problems.
I very disappointed with its firmware (last version for today, .02.03e). Player does not support Russian in menus, and displays some russian letters incorrectly. (By the way, for now, only cheapest china nonames have problems with displaying single letters in national alphabets).
Letters in ID3 tags in Russian player changes with west-european symbols. The only way to make player show them in Russian is to convert tags in Unicode. CL software can do it automatically while uploading music to player, but I refused using this software. It has giant size for its functionality (sign of low programming level!) and a lot of errors (one of that errors falls Windows with BSOD every time I try to disconnect player from PC). Converting tags in all mp3 files on PC will make WinAmp unable to display russian ID3 tags.
It is most strange for me that many of small brends (Korean ect.) produce players completely free of all problems decribed.
PS I requested Creative support some times by email (problems were different), and every time asked them about localisation. Every time they simply ingnored this question.Message Edited by Alko on 0-8-200709:28 AM

Well, my new Muvo V00 didn't delete anything yet, but its speed is not very impressing - 500 kb/s makes waiting for Copies to a hard time...
Is it Vista that slows everything down or ist it the player?

  • Muvo V100 Won't Connect - How do I install the driver alone? Where on the disk is

First of all, I've read through the FAQ, etc., the Creative Knowledge Base, searched the forum, and read the manual, etc. and I cannot find an answer.
In short, all I want to do now is try installing the Muvo V00 driver alone to see if that fixes my problems with the PC not fully recognizing and communicating with the Muvo V00. And then maybe try using it on a friend's PC to see if it works. I'd have done that already except the friend li'ves quite some disctance. If that doesn't work, this thing is going back and I'm not sure I even want to try an exchange.
I'd be very appreciati've of any help you can provide. Thanks!
    My tale of woe:
I have a Windows XP Home PC and I cannot get the PC to fully recognize the existence of the Muvo V00. I've installed and uninstalled the software (Creative Media Explorer and Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer and I guess the driver) several times and the PC doesn't recognize the existence of the Muvu V00. I follow the installation instructions exactly and it just doesn't work.
I have tried using the Muvo V00 after uninstalling the software, and the PC recognizes that a "mass storage device" is attached, but it won't provide a dri've letter until I try to "Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device". And during the Safely remove process, which strangely gives me an hourglass for many minutes, it finally runs the Autoplay routine, but that gives an hourglass and never finishes and I have to cancel it. And then the "Safely remove routine" finally comes back and safes it can't be safely removed, try later, even though no other applications are accessing the Muvo V00. Then, surprisingly, the PC displays a dri've letter for the USB Mass Storage Device (the Muvo V00), but when I try and access it, all I get is an hourglass.
By the way, I'm in Information Technology so I somewhat know what I'm doing. So far, tech support has been less than helpful and has only provided a link to the Knowledge Base!

I have the same problem with my new Muvo V00. Before installing, I tried turning off all antivirus and every program I could think to turn off that I usually have running. My computer refused to recognize the Muvo V00. I called customer service, they sent me directions to do a clean install. This involves editing the things that load with windows so that nothing interferes with the installation. I tried that. (Now I get a nice boot up message asking if I want to load windows or go to the Restore utility.)
I found information in the Creative knowledge base about permissions. So, tried editing the permissions to the USB and USBSTOR. After everything I tried, either my computer would recognize the Muvo for a few seconds and then forget it existed, or my computer acted like I hadn't installed it in the first place. I've gotten the dri've letter after one reboot and lost the whole thing on the next reboot. The Creative software either didn't find the Muvo, or if it did, it froze when I tried to access the device from the menu.
I've used restore points to revert my computer to before installation, and tried reinstalling. I tried updating my bios (which got it to recognize the Muvo for the longest time ... about an hour. Then, my computer froze.
I tried downloading the dri'ves for the NOMAD as was suggested here. But that didn't work either. First, I got the message that I had newer drivers on my machine and the whole installation program closed. (Uninstalling the drivers and using the downloaded ones didn't work either.)
The weirdest thing is that my friend's computer recognized the device immediately. AND my computer fully recognizes her Muvo TX--even the creative software recognizes it perfectly!!
I'm at a loss. If my friend wanted to trade devices, all would be well. But she loves her TX.
Before I realized that my friend's Muvo TX works perfectly, I was convinced that my Windows XP was corrupted or something. Apparently, it's not.
If anyone can give me any advice or help (there might be something out there that I haven't tried), I'd appreciate it. The thing is that the V00 was a gift. I'd hate to have to ask for the receipt to return it, but that's what I may end up having to do.
Good luck to all with similar problems.

  • Order of tracks in MuVo V100

My MuVo V00 currently plays the tracks of an album in alphabetical order, not in the order of the album. How do I change this? The tracks have been ripped by using MuVos own program.

I have a Zen NanoPlus, which I think uses the same folder format as a Muvo. You have to have your files labled with a track number, such as "0-Crush.wma". Again, I'm assuming the Muvo is similar to the Nano (it used to be pretty much identical). To fake a playlist, you do the same thing in appending the filename with an additional number, such as "0-04-Born in the USA.wma" . Creative used to have a utility that did this for you but I lost it long ago. You could drag the files around in a "playlist" and it would rename them for you, thereby keeping the order you wanted. Jump in here anybody on this one---my memory is failing. It was about 3 years ago I used that.
UPDATE---this was bugging me so I did a search. Apparently, the included Zen Media Explorer software contains this feature (although I use a version of that now and no longer recall this feature being available. I DID, however, find an old post and link by SSR about "Reorganize", a freeware application that looks as though it should solve this issue. The screenshot looks similar to an old Rio manager program I used to use for playlists on that device (before I gave that old Rio to my son as a mobile replacement for his Zen Micro---his HD crashed once and was repaired under extended warranty but he is now afraid of a hard-dri've based player---me too---my Zen Touch died last week for no apparent reason).
I now have my older NanoPlus and a brand-new Zen. I have to say I still like that little Nano, as you can't beat the convenience of a AAA battery when not home. I had a flight attendent comment on how small it was once. The biggest drawback, though, is the playlist issue. Maybe this "Reorganise" will solve that. Haven't tried it yet, but the download link is still there......http://www.oli'ver-frietsch.de/reorganize/index.php?lng=en

  • MUVO V100 2GB only accepting 1GB if mu

whats up with My Muvo V00 2gb?
it is only taking GB worth of data, on my MAC (itunes) or on MY pc, (drag and drop)
    so far not impressed!?

A pain? The folders are for organization. Instead of for example having 400 files all in one folder, if you have 20 folders each having around 20 songs, it will be much easier to manage. This also makes the repeat folder a very useful tool. You can have folders based on artist, or based on time released, 70s, 80s, etc. , classical, Jazz, etc. Depending on which firmware you have, you could even have folders within folders, however if files are too deply nested, ie. folder in folders in folders, the player might not see them.

  • MuVo V100 Playing Downlo

I am having a problem with my daughter's MuVo V00. This is the second one that I have purchased and I have no problems with the first one. I download the songs into Windows Media Play and Sync them to the MP3. The songs show up in when I plug the MP3 into the PC and play them on Windows Media Player and they show up on My Computer, but I can't get the songs I synced to play when the MP3 is not plugged into the computer. Any advice?

Sounds a bit like my problem. I have downloaded an audio book from Net Library into Library A Folder on the MuVo V00 I just bought today. I see the title and author scrolling by on the screen, but there is no sound. The timer does not advance either.
Yes, the ear buds are plugged in and the volume is on medium.
(I heard the Welcome intro from Creative about 100 times already)
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Problem with MuVo V100 "No Music&qu

My son got a Creative MuVo V00 GB as a gift a month ago. It was easy to put music on it. I loaded about 50 songs for him and he enjoyed listening to them. Then I tried to add another few songs for him and all seemed to be fine. Then he said all of the sudden he had "no music". When powering on the player it says "No Music". I can't for the life of me to get anything to work on it now. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help. My little boy is antsy for his player to work again.

Do you have the music still on your pc If so, then reconnect the player to the pc and see if the music shows up on the player in Windows Explorer. The best idea to get music on the player is to create some folders on the hard dri've, copy music into them, then drag and drop the folders into the player.

  • No Music in MuVo V100

Now my MuVo V00 says it has No Music when switched on even though it is full of songs. Done formatting, used Tools in the player to Error check etc several times. Still No Music !!! I know others have the same problem. But can't see any real solution offered in this forum. Or simply the player has run its course after less than 2 years of use ? Any tips out there ? Thanks.

I wonder if youstill have this" No Muisc" problem. As I have the same issue again today, I hook up my V00 to the net and use Creative Labs'? MP3 Player? Recovery tool which is avilable onsite here. A new firmware will be downloaded to the player which erases the whole player. So you need to backup your exisitng files if you want to keep them. After I reload all the music to my V00, it plays fine again. It was playing alright this morning until I tried to changed track without looking at it and kept pressing and rolled the wheel, that's when I got this NO Music thing again.

Even i dont know how to upload my firmware..Can u suggest the site where that firmware will be available for me in free of cost. I need help please call me 996957368

rusaus: I'm guessing there aren't a lot of MuVo? owners here. You could try the manual (which you can download here I think), or ask the same question over at JumpingCholla's Usenet server which definitely has some MuVo? owners.

  • Muvo V100 new owner help ple

I've downloaded and read the manual and searched and read every muvo thread here. I'm clearly missing something that must be very simple.
I have 4 albums in folders named by artist in the root directory. None in libraries A-C. Also in the root folder is a folder named LRC, one named mymusic2 one named recorded tracks.
When I turn on the player there is nothing that looks like a file browser- nothing that shows what cds are on the player. All it shows is information about the specific song that's playing. None of the icons or settings seem to show information about the name or content of any of the folders or even of the muvo itself. The only way I've found to go from one cd to another is to move song by song until I get to the first song on another album. That might be ok with only 4 albums but if I put a few more albums on I'd end up forwarding through over 00 songs just to get to the last album. I tried the skip folder icon but nothing changed- I assume because they are all in the root folder. I've looked at all the settings etc and can't figure out what to do.
From what I read here, others have folders by artist and seem to be able to identify contents. I have several other mp3 players so I'm not completely ignorant about them but this one is beyond me.
What am I doing wrong? I can still return it but I'd like to see if I can get it to work first.

If you press in the scroller button you should get to the menu. Select Skip Folder and you should see a folder name with x/y after it where x is the number of the current folder out of a total of y folders. Press the scroller left or right to go through the folders - only the folders with music files in will show. Press the scroller in to select the folder you want. PB

  • My MuVo V100 won't work in my computer anymore.

My husband just got a new mp3 player. Since we hooked it up to our computer, my computer doesn't reconize my MuVo V00. I no longer have the hardware for it. Is there anything I can do to get my computer (I have Windows Xp) to reconize my mp3 player?

  • Muvo v100 and Spiralf

I have a (new) Muvo v00. I have loaded some music from when I was using Napster with no problems.
I am trying to use the Spiralfrog service I just learned about. I can drag and drop them, and they show up in the player, but do not play...the numbers do not advance, nada.
I tried to upload the Spiralfrog music via MediaSource 5 as I thought might work from reading the forums and the music won't transfer at all..."error transferring...". ?
I have restored the player with the program on the Creative website and reinstalled the software on the disk.
I am not usually computer stoooopid, but geez, this is frustrating.
Any help (with details) will be much appreciated.
    Thanks!
P.S. I bought this this (what I think is a cool little player) to substitue my dinosaur Samsung Napster (printed on the player) YP-90 that Napster no longer supports. I used to be able to buy a single song, add it to a play list through their Napster software and be on my way. Now, they no longer support their own player and sent me pages upon pages of instructions on how to roll back WMP to use it to load music. Bah. Thanks for listening

I also have a problem with my Mp3 player Muvo V00 months old, It happened that the mp3 player lost some music files by itself and when I turned it on I could only listen to few songs on it. Afterward, I connected it to my PC but it wasnt responding and the computer system told me that the windows was unable to save all the data for the player ( File H: ), and it showed?" Delayed write faillde, the data has been lost. Save the file somewhere else" on the computer. What is the solution to this ? Can someone help me out

  • Lost CD of creative MuVo V100 2GB

I lost my CD of my MuVo V00 2GB. I need the Creative Media Explorer where you can transfer songs to the player and set the order of the songs. Is there a download for it's My firmware is .05.0e. I already looked here http://support.creative.com/Products...ame=MP3+Player but the software I need is not listed there.
    Thanks in advance

Re: Lost CD of creative MuVo V00 2GB8 The software is at FileSavr file hosting.
This is the creative labs software for the Muvo mp3 player. This version will work for Windows XP. I did not upload these to infringe on any copyrights, I uploaded them so that people who have lost their Muvo software for XP can reclaim it. The version of the software on this site is for Vista only.
    Here are the files:
    http://www.filefactory.com/file/a0456f/n/muvo_exe
    another version:
    http://www.filefactory.com/file/a045...o_software_nbi
The first is a winraw file. Put it on your hard dri've, extract, and it should install. The second version is for folks who have nero. Download it, burn it onto a CD, then instal it from the CD. Either way, if anyone finds this useful, I strongly suggest you burn a copy and save it for yourself. The files will only stay on the site as long as people keep downloading them. Once the files are gone from the site, that's it. I will not upload them again.

  • Creative MuVo v100 cleaning

Creative MuVo v00 cleaning So I have the Creative MuVo v00, gb model. I've had this mp3 player for many years, and enjoy it greatly. It still plays music fantastically, and I love the design. I wish they still made mp3 players with this design. I would love to get an 8gb device with this design, but alas it does not exist.
Anyways, over the years of having this mp3 player in my pocket EVERYWHERE, dust has built up on the inside of the screen. Between the outer screen and the inner display. It is at the point now where I can't make out the display anymore. I am wondering if there is a way I can safely clean this. Is there a way I can remove that screen cover, clean it, and then replace it, without destroying my Mp3 player?
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

mine is/was pretty dirty too. ?It recently got wet and stopped working. ?After letting it dry for a day, it still refused to work. ?In desperation I dunked it, without the battery half, into slightly soapy water and shook it vigorously, ?After spending another day drying, it worked! ?And the screen was even a little cleaner. ?Obviously, dunking your otherwise perfectly working MuVo into water to clean the screen is not something I would recommend. ?But it worked for mine.

  • Muvo v100 playback w

hello,i recently purchased a muvo v00i used to have an older version of this mp3 player a loved it dearly before it stopped workingi use the muvo as a flash dri've sometimes in my car's usb portit used to work flawlessly on my older version of this mp3 playerbut now with this newer model, when i plug it in i hear the music allright but its accompanied by a very annoying popping sound that occurs very very frequentlythis saddened me greatly, since it was one of the defining factors in my purchasei've reformatted the dri've using the firmware installer, and the problem still occursany help would be much appreciated, i've already ditched the box so im not sure if i can return this anymorethank you-Seth

    Hi,
Have you tried different pair of earphones on the player?
If it's still popping, you might want to get in touch with support. You don't have to worry about the box if you are contacting Creative for warranty claim but be sure to have the proof of purchase with you.

  • MuVo v100 and subscription servi

I just received my muvov00 for Christmas and it's my first portable device, I love the way it sounds and it's ease of use. However, when looking for ways to download music off the internet, I find out that it is not compatible with ANY subscription service. This sucks! I'm sure I can find music around here and from friends but I really liked the idea of being able to download an assortment of songs whenever I want to.
Is there any way around this, something I'm missing?
Is this something that will change once the muvo v00 gets to be better known, or did I get the wrong mp3 player?
    Thanks for any help!

    brenda625,
MuvoV00 doesn't work with subscription music services at all.
If you are going to spend the large amount of money for a music "to go" subscription, why not buy an inexpensi've Creative Player that works with the service. I don't know where you li've, but on the US Creative Store/Savings Center site you can buy refurbished Zen V Plus players 2GB for $35.99US. I have been buying the 2GB Zen V Plus for family and friends?and they have been brand new and work perfectly. You get a three month warranty.
The Muvo V00 that you own is really good for audiobooks and music that you already have purchased. Another alternati've is to get music CDs from your library system, if you have one. Borrow music from your friends. There are a few Internet?sites that are legal and allow you to download music for free. CNet is one of the ones?that I use.
