MUVO V200 FILE SYSTEM ER

I know i don't have a recent product but maybe someone can help me.. I have mp3 muvo v200 and when I try to turn it on it only appears "file system error" and then it turns off. I can't switch it on anymore.. I inserted the usb port in my pc and noticed that all the songs where in the memory anywhere. I tried to format?the disk but nothing happened...does anyone have any suggest? how can I make it work again?please help me! thank you for your attention!

You need to get the firmware from Support->Downloads and then run it to reload it onto your player. During the reload click the Format Data Area option and all will be well again. PB

  • MuVo TX - File System Er

I have recently bought a 52mb MuVo TX. I followed all the instructions, like loading the driver onto my PC (98SE) etc, and ripped some tracks onto the player (using WMA format) as a test, and everything seemed to work ok. I then ripped an album and the first time I played it back the player stopped working and the text "! File system error" appeared on the screen and turned off. When I turn the player on it shows the same error message and then turns itself off. Also it isn't recognised by my PC (have also tried other PCs, and with other operating systems like XP) so I cannot reformat or do anything with it - any suggestions?
    Thanks

Thanks for the advice - just to be crystal clear, some futher detail re. device recognition:
I have tried in yet another PC (with XP) and it recognises the device in that it is listed as a "Nomad etc etc". However when I left click it (or right click and then click any of the options such as reformat) then an error message "F:is not accessible, Device is not ready" appears.
I tried to use Creative Music Organiser on my 98SE pc again and the device appears as "Nomad NuVo TX" as a source in the sources window. However it shows no files are present (I haven't removed any and there should at least one album and another dozen songs) and when attempting to transfer files, within a few seconds an error message appears saying an error has occurred.
Assuming your advice is still to return the product (it was bought in December 2004) this was bought over the net and returning to the supplier will be a complicated process, would it be possible to return direct to Creative (with proof of purchase) for replacement?

  • File system error on MuVo TX

After I transfer files to my MuVo TX FM, and I try to play the music, I get a message "File System Error. I have followed the instructions and formatted again, but I still get the message. Any suggestions?

This is a post by Surfn, which helped me:
I've had a similar problem with MuVo TX that is about one year old. When I let the battery run down low, I started having the problem. First what didn't work, then what worked:
    -Replacing the battery didn't work.
2-Trying to turn it on gave "File System Error."
3-I am on Windows 2000 OS. When I tried to click on the removable dri've in Windows explorer, it caused that program to freeze up.
4-When I tried to double-click on "My Computer" and right-click on the removable dri've and select "format," nothing happened.
5-When I tried to download the latest firmware and install (with the device plugged into the USB port), after a long time of searching it said that no devices were found.
This is what WORKED for me: I downloaded the firmware NOMAD MuVo TX Audible Firmware Upgrade .0.05 from http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/drivers When I ran this self-extracting executable, it gave some comment to the effect of "searching for devices." At this moment I held down the pause/play button and plugged the MuVo into my USB port and continued to hold the button down for another 5 to 20 seconds. This was how I was able to finally get it to find the device. At this point I was able to follow the rest of the instructions that were posted previously: check/tick the 'Format Data Area' in the dialog box and click on 'Start'.
I think I ran the firmware executable a second time without checking 'Format Data Area' in order to make sure the Firmware was installed on the newly formatted flash dri've, but I might not have needed to do that last step.
This has gotten me up and running where none of the other suggestions worked for me. I hope this works for you.
I am happy to say that my muvo is working fine now.
The only thing that I didn't do exactly like surfn described is that I didn't
press the play/pause button during the detection of the mp3 player.
I tried pressing the button, but the player was not detected, so I decided
not to press it and see if it works.
The player was detected, I selected the "Format data area" option, and pressed
start. It worked like a charm.

  • File System Error on Muvo Slim 51

Hello. Up until a couple of months ago my player was working fine...until the dreaded file system error message.
I have a macbook and I have only seen solutions for this problem using Windows platform.
Can anyone offer any advice... the player is not even showing up in my disk utility when I plug it in.
    Thank you!

Hi Jason. I forgot to mention this. Windows XP does not format the player. As a matter of fact, the context menu that pops up when right-clicking the storage icon (representing the player) in My Computer pops after a minute or two. Something must be wrong. When I look at the Properties of the storage representing the player, it's capacity is nil with file system as <EM>Raw. </EM>I tried Partition Magic 8 in a friend's pc but it seems that external storage is not recognized or at least I don't know how to use the software. My analysis is that this is similar to the case when you partition a hard dri've during installation of Windows XP Pro (at least on my experience) and forget to specify the file system of the other partitions. Those partitions wont be visible in the disk management tools of windows. I will try your suggestion and update this thread on my progress.
    Thanks very much

  • File system error on Zen MuVo

    Hi,
When I switch on my player a message come on the screen saying "file system error", does anybody know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks

Try downloading the latest driver and firmware from the website. Install the driver file. After you have installed the driver, press and hold the PLAY button, continue holding the button while inserting the player into the USB port for about 0-5 sec. Run the firmware update file and check/tick the 'Format Data Area' check box and click on 'Start'.

  • Muvo V200 Storage Is

Just curious - I bought a Muvo V200 that says it is GIG storage on the face but.... I only have 256 megs?
I know that some built in system files may take up some storage but it seems it would not be that much.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Thanks for all the responses!
I have updated the firmware so all is current and have formatted it but yet it says 256megs still....
Both in the settings area of the player and as I format it. I know i bought a gig player I am not crazy I promise... It also says gig right on the face of it.
    Thanks!

  • Muvo v200 cras

I have a muvo v200 and I had a problem with it: it couldn't play more than 238 files (weird)
if I upload more than 238 files it works well when connected to my pc but as I try to listen to files in my muvo some of them just disappear... I tried to format the muvo and now it doesn't work at all! if I try to switch it on it only says "file system error" and then *dies*
    how can I do?
    thanks

Flashdri've is not supposed to be formatted like hard dri've via Windows tools, that's why there's a special program for all MuVo series - MuVo Initializer. It's also written & highlighted in the manual guide.
Well, what can You do now? Try to figure out if Your warranty will cover & exchange this broken player. Ask SSR, Cat, Jeremy or Jason how You can do that. They are more informed about it than me. Or call Creative Customer Support. Good luck

  • MUVO V200 Help Required

    Hi,
I recently purchased a MUVO V200 with 52 mb memory.
My first problem was the FM radio would not work, but I have since put this down to it requiring more power from the batteries than standard music. Bit of a pain as my rechargable batteries, even when fully charged won't allow the FM radio to work. Is this normal?
My main problem; is since reformating the dri've and loading new firmware, the player will only store 00 songs, the packaging advises 256 songs. Can anyone explain if there is anything I can do to enable me to load more songs.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    James

I have Uniross 770mAh, Energizer 850mAh and Hahnel 900mAh, all .2V and all work fine.
You can convert the files you have to a different bit-rate using the Audio Converter function of MediaSource that came with your player. If you use MediaSource to rip your CDs then you can set it up to rip at a lower bit-rate right from the start.
MediaSource and V200 Media Explorer also have a SmartFit function where the files can be reduced in size as you transfer them to your player, though this slows down the transfer process and you would have to do it again if you reloaded the same files again at a later date.
If these are files from an online music store then you probably can't convert them directly because of the license issues, but you can burn them to an audio CD then re-rip them at a lower bit-rate. If you use a CD-RW then you don't end up wasting a load of CD-Rs.

  • MUVO V200 - Disk Drive is F

I am having a problem with the disk space of my Muvo V200.

I am starting to copy the files and when I receive this message I go to the properties and it says that I have USED SPACE:540MB and FREE SPACE:453MB.
Despite that I cannot copy all my files.
Does anyone knows wht is going on?
    Thank you.

  • MuVo V200 C

My MuVo V200 just broke and now I see that there the one part is only fixed on _three very little_ points to the other part (I'm talking about the frontside and backside of the player/stick part). Do you have an explanation for this?!
    I'm really disappointed!
    Yours
    nightwolf

Anyway has this question ever been answered... ? I doubt anyone from creative is assigned to watch this column... ? right Creative ?
I am having a similar experience in nature... my daughter realised that her v200 had a 'Crocodile Mouth" at one side, upon curious which I am glad relected from a "Teen', she realised that the mouth can easily be stretched quite wide, afraid that it may conveniently allows water entry, she had called Tech Support, replied is to bring the device to them for review.
I believe she "WAS' glad when they said so, but all is changed now as she had came to understand that nothing bought can be returned easily... they first conveniently claim that she might had dropped (as she honestly admitted she did dropped it once) and blamed the splitting mouth to the droppage... I had later phoned in to clarify that the incident occurred in my carpetted office location...
Then they suggested that they are willing to let her purchase a brand new set after taking back her ex v200 @ $45.00.. I later called them to explain my mathematical understanding that to take my device and topped up $45.00 means to say they are taking my device back, recondition it and sell it brand new while still making another $45.00 from me (The Sucker).. They then say that it is for documentation fees instead.. I then suggest looking at their warrantee obligation to us which was published publicly.. they argue that there are small prints that they are unable to show to public with regards to qualification to an exchange for faulty equipment, I requested but Creative had conveniently declined...
Anyway, I do not wish to create an issue over a PEANUT matter.. I would like to suggest that Creative at least publish clauses accordingly in order to educate users on the gray area of your warrantees... Service center was busy when my daughter visited in the afternoon... your staff should be more professional as my matter took 4 hours to conclude...
Very interestingly, Creative had took my device in for "FORENSIC" investigation, this is to prove that the device had came to this state under abnormal usage... this of cos will not be immediate as expected...
I will await patiently as I think the Technical Support had lost total cool in handling the matter when she starts leaving behind her name "Huitin" and Serial Number "05xxxx" and telling me to file official complaint if I am not happy with the handling methods.. maybe good professional staffs are really difiicult to come by...

  • Zen MuVo V200 problem

My sister has the GB Zen MuVo V200 and hasn't filled the capacity yet, but the player won't allow her to put any more songs onto it.
It pops up a message saying that: "Your Music Library is corrupted and cannot be recovered. MediaSource will now revert to your most recent back-up available. Would you like to continue? Yes/No."
Even if I click Yes or No, I need to download some Microsoft jet pack software, I haven't a clue what it is!
I checked the properties of the player, and it says that 604MB is used space, and the free space is 389MB, so I should be able to put more songs on there. I am confused as to where the space has disappeared to. When trying to transfer songs, an error message pops up and says there is a transfer error has occured while transferring this file, and so it cancels the transfer. I think it has something to do with the amount of space, but I am not sure.
Sorry to be of a nuisance again, but is there anything that I can do?
    Thanks again,
    Vanessa.

As SSR has said, the PC Music Library error is a MediaSource problem.
The reason that you haven't managed to fill up your player is covered in SSR's FAQ post. Look for a section titled "I can't seem to fit any more files on my flash player yet I have free space, why?".

  • Muvo V200, question about the play m

Hello,I have a question about the play mode on my V200. I want to play the songs in a specific order (like in a playlist) but I don't find the way to do this. Can you help me please ?
    Thanks
(sorry if I don't speak english very well, but I'm french )

    Hi!
To get the tracks to play in a specific order, put numbers at the beginning of each file name. E.g.: file 'examplesong.mp3' would become '0_ examplesong.mp3' Don't spend years doing that manually though; the computer will do it for you! Click on 'my computer', then click on 'Muvo V200 media explorer'.. This shows the contents of your player. Choose the folder that you want to reorder the songs in...
( it's best to put the songs in folders, like you would in a floppy disk, as the muvo can only hold a certain amount in the root directory, and folders are great for organisation - eg: you can put one CD in each folder, and then the player will play all of the tracks in that folder before moving on to the next one )
...and click on it to display the songs. In the pictures along the top of the window, 4th from the right is an icon with a downward facing arrow and an A above a Z. Click on this, it's called 'custom sort'. You can then use the arrows at the bottom to change the order of your tracks to how you want them. Click OK, and they'll all be numbered (and so will play) in that order.
    Hope that helps!

  • Suggestion firmware MuVo v200 Radio

    I have a MuVo v200 GB vith 32 radios FM. Firmware .02.0e. It's a marvellous produced.
Suggestion: To be able to indicate the name of the stations FM memorized.
How: by creating a file fm.ini (simple textual file) containing following informations.
Example: If the user memorized the 5 following stations FM, he writes the file fm.ini according to and memorizes it in the root of key USB of the MuVo.
    fm.ini file contains:
--- file beginning ---; no checking enters the frequency and the name of the station.;="Radio Creative the best"2="Radio France"3="Radio jazz"; 3="Radio culture"32="Radio Tour-Eiffel;; it's very simple for the user; Perhaps that it is feasible for the programmer--- end of the file ---
    Thank you very much.

The latest firmware was a .0.xx version but it seems to have gone from the website - it will not do anything to improve your WAV recording.
What do you mean by voice and FM recording are BAD. That is down to how the player samples and encodes what it hears - changing the format to mp3 will not enhance your recordings. For example, the music on a CD is effecti'vely the same format as a WAV file and when you rip it to mp3 then the quality gets worse not better, due to the basic design of how encoding works - it removes some parts of the sound to allow it to be compressed into a smaller filesize..
It has never been said that you can't downgrade your firmware but peole do seem to have trouble getting it to work.
