Muvo2 5GB (FM) vs. Zen Mi

I having trouble deciding which one to go for. Both 5GB, both stylish with similar capabilities. Are there any downsides to either I should be aware of?
Thanks for any help you might have.

I agree with arcum! I see a lot more complaints about the Zen than the Muvo. Maybe because more people own the Zen? Anyway... I haven't had much trouble with the Muvo. I mean, I had some trouble with getting the radio on my Muvo to work, so I had to return it to creative, but I managed to get a brand new player, and have had no troubles with it since. Long battery life, and great secondary storage medium.
I also notice that people complain about the Zen's headphone jack, and how it comes loose? I'm not sure. Anyway. Yeah. Oh, and the Zen I guess has more colours to choose from?

    Hi.
I got a MuVo2 .5 Gb mp3 player at christmas. It broke so i sent it in.
They sent back a 5 gb MuVo2, witch was realy nice.
Now is the problem that it shows firmware error when i turn it on, and no firmware is to be found.
Can creative please add MuVo2 5gb NOT FM to the firmwarelist, or tell me where i can find it's
I havn't been able to use it for 2 months...

I've just been in contact with someone else, and they have successfully used either the .5Gb or 4Gb firmware with the 5Gb player. So they definitely do work.

  • Muvo2 5GB Firmware

    Hi,
I'd like to know about the Muvo2 5GB NO-FM firmware.
I can't find it online, contact the customer support to get it ?
My Muvo2 is on the way, I've purchased it at a great discount without any information, the supply was tiny, I've to move fast, so no in-depth research of user opinions, now I fear that I've moved too fast.
Look like a product limited to the Europe only, Every players have the firmware available even if the same initial release except the muvo2 5GB. have I purchased a lemon ?
    Thanks.

Have you tried the 4Gb firmware? Instructions on how to apply it are there at the download page.
If it doesn't work, or you don't want to try it, your only option is to contact Creative Support, links are in the FAQ post.

  • Recharge: Muvo2 5GB FM stops charging after it's fully charg

Hi, I have a Muvo2 5GB FM and is it normal that the mp3 player stops recharging (so the blue light stops flashing and logo's on display disappears) after it is fully recharged?
When it's fully charged I see the 'plug' logo on the display flashing one time and after that the blue light stops flashing and logo's disappear from the display...
    Is this normal?
    Thanx!

Yes it's switched off when it recharges...
I found it weird at first, because I didn't noticed a 'plug' logo and suddenly the player stopped recharging and in the manual it says that when you see the plug logo then it's fully recharged.
    But anyway thanx!

  • MUVO2 5GB FM FREEZES

Hi All,?I am only able to load tracks onto my Muvo2 in safe mode in XP because if I try to load it in normal XP the PC freezes up and trying to disable it with Task manager sometimes fails to shut it down. Sometimes just clicking on My Computer is enough to cause it to lock up and I have to reboot. I have used Scandisk in safe mode and it checks out ok, once I load it in safe mode it works fine. Any help gratefuly recieved.?Thanks Lynn.?

  • Creative Zen Micro 5GB vs Creative Zen Micro SE 6

hi i am interested in creative Zen micro, but i am worried about its many problems.
a fruend of mine has just bought a creative xen micro 5GB, but since his 2nd day of use the player is having a great problem with jack connection: the headphones, by one side, dom't work, and it is a jack problem an d not a haedphones problem.
I wanna know if the same problem occurs with Creative Zen Micro SE 6 gb, or if it is only a problem for 5gb, and what is the maeaning of "SE" (maybe Second Edition) and if this "SE" models have the same problems of the former players or if they are "patched".
I am sorry for my english but I am italian and I hope that my question is celar and understandable.

    In short, no-one knows.
Folks here have posted emails supposedly from Creative employees that say it was fixed in later versions, but Creative Support said here that basically hardware updates are made all the time (so didn't answer the question directly).
SE = Special Edition I think, although there's nothing particularly special about it and it has less accessories than the original version.

    thanks in advance!

oh bugger. that's the only way? argh. jurong here i come.
haha thanks man. oh btw, did they say what caused that to happen?

  • MuVo 2 1.5GB question

I am interested in buying a MuVo2 .5GB player and I need to know if it works as a USB hardri've *WITHOUT* any kind of Creative driver.
I will be using mainly it as an external dri've on various foreign computers, so this is crucial for me. Unfortunately my good old Zen Xtra cannot serve this purpose. (What is the need of having to install drivers for a USB dri've?)
I would also like to know about the anti-shock durability of the player's microdri've (no flash, right?). Is it OK for everyday *long* and relati'vely *fast* paced walks? (Nowhere near jogging though ) What is its resistance compared to my old player? Is it true that smaller dri'ves are less sensiti've?
    Thank you,

It works as USB mass storage. No driver required for Win Me/2000/XP.

The Zen isn't a USB dri've, it has a bespoke hard disk format and needs to enter tag data into the player's onboard library.

Creative say only jogging and similar sports are an issue, hence walking is presumably OK.

  • Diet Coke Leaked On to My MuVo2 1.

It was in my bag and the lid mustn't have been on properly.
Anyway the MuVo2 would not turn on and since it is 2 years old I took it apart completely and with a soft cloth gently patted dry any visible liquid I could see (not much) and left it for a few hours to get 'drying' air exposure.
Whilst disassembled I plugged it into the mains and lo and behold it powered up.
Got 'Creative' followed by 'MuVo' and then the dancing music notes ane then listed the last track that was playing.
I disconnected the power and attached the d-pad power switch assembly to to the small connector on the main circuit board, reconnected the power and let it boot up again.
    Tried pressing play, nothing.
    Tried naviagating, nothing.
I reassmbled and can connect it to the PC with no issues, ran a full scandisk and defrag and dragged some MP3s to it and then deleted tem all with no issue.
So it seems that just the d-pad / power switch assembly is not working or maybe not connected properly.
I really like the MuVo2 because of the replaceable battery.
Is it possible to order a replacement switch assmebly from Creative (Australia) or their repairer or any trick to making that connection that I'm missing.
I can get a MuVo2 5GB FM for about A$23 now but since the .5Gb I have cost me A$399 2 years ago I'd rather just replace the switch if possible.
Any suggestions welcome because at the moment, the MuVo2 just powers on but nothing else.
Can't even get into Recovery Console.

Well by yesterday afternoon the buttons had stopped working again.
I have sent an email to Creative Labs Australia asking if they can sell me the button assembly as it is a separate part to the rest of the player.
They came back and told me that repairs by anyone other that CL would void my warranty and told me to d/l the latest firmware and go through various procedures via the recovery menu.
Maybe they missed the part where I said it was almost 2 years old or that the buttons didn't work - I've sent them another email.
I have had one suggestion to soak it in distilled water and then dry put with a hair dryer <a href=http://discussions.virtualdr.com/showthread.php?t=97227 target=_blank>link[/url] but since it works other than the buttons, I'm loath to do that.
Anyone that has the FM remote, or a CL employee can you tell me does the remote have buttons on it that I could potentially use instead ?
Maybe I can pick one up on ebay.Message Edited by Nix on -6-2005 2:5 AM

  • Mp3 player DMP FX100 problem

Hello. I li've in U.K. Edinburgh. I brought Creative's mp3 player- DMP FX00 today. It is a Digital MP3 Player. My one is 52MB which cost me 60 pounds in Argos. Also I got Muvo TX 28MB(2004 March in Dixons), V200 GB(2005 June in Dixons), Muvo2 5GB(2005 Feb in Dixons), N200 52MB(2005 July in Argos) and Zen nano plus GB(2005 Nov in Argos).
I love creative's player very much. Because of the good equalizer and it can display Japanese, Korean as well.
But I got a problem with the DMP FX00. I was switch on the equalizer and same as the 5 creative's player I got. They are : 62 is +4, 250 is +7, K is 0, 6K is -7 at last 6K is -4. The headphone I using is Sony EX7.
I love the sound, strong bass and good treble too.
Nevertheless the DMP FX00 sound is rubbish. The bass is not strong at all and the treble too high. Very noise. I don't know what can I with it. I am very sad for that. Moreover I starter disappoint with Creative's Mp3 player. The equalizer is not work too good.
Can anyone tell me what wrong with the equalizer of the DMP FX00, please?

if you have 10 mp3 files in your mp3files folder and the names are like:
    song1.mp3
    song2.mp3
    song9.mp3
the random part can be like that:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    btnplay.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playMusic);
    function playMusic(evt:MouseEvent):void
    var myMusic:Sound = new Sound();
    var rnd:int = Math.random() * 10;  //0-9
    var SoundFile:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mp3files/song" + rnd.toString() + ".mp3");

  • Problem with a pla

In DEc '03 i bought a muvo2 .5gb and since i have had it it has not worked properly, i t keeps on freezing when in use and when loading music...i have spoken to creative many times and all they ever say is replce the firmware...this does abosolutly sod all. even when i sent it back to them all they did was replace the firmware, and surprise surprise it still did not work. The next one i bought as a present to my girlfreind was in may this year. it is a muvo micro n200 gb, on this one if you try to change tracks it turns off, if it gets to the end of a track, it turns off, if you do pretty much anything...it turns off. all you can do is listen to the radio, which makes it a very expensi've radio! i have tried contacting creative and they don't really help. any ideas?? jamesMessage Edited by Catherina-CL on 09-6-2005 03:08 PM

There are a few Creative reps on this forum, we are here to moderate the forum and make sure everything goes smoothly, but we don't guarantee a response to every thread (that's what Customer Support are for). If you got a response from them but it hasn't solved your problem, just write back and let them know you're still having a problem. If the player is faulty, they can then arrange to replace it for you.
I've renamed the title of this thread to a more suitable one, people of all ages read the forum.

Once you say Flash player, your options are limited when it comes to Audible support. First off the capacity of a flash player is small for what Creative is offering. So right there you need to get a hard dri've player.
If flash is what you <i>REALLY</i> want then consider another brand. But if you can settle for a hard dri've. Then go for a Zen Micro, Zen Neeon 5gb/6gb, or Zen Sleek. I'm not sure if the Zen Micro Photo and Zen Sleek Photo have Audible support but I would think so. Hopefully someone can confirm this as the website for both devices dont list Audible as a compatible format.
Also the accessories part, as the market is dominated by the iPod's that pretty much all you see. The accessories are pretty much iPod only and Everything else. So with anything but an iPod your choice of accessories are limited.

  • Nomad Muvo2 fm (5GB) should I buy

I'm thinking of getting the Nomad muvo2 fm (5GB) I know it's a older model but its stats still shape up pretty well. Can any one give me reasons not to buy it's Or if they have had problems with them.
I'm worried about buying the Zen Micro because of the problem with jack.

I generally hear good things about the MuVo?, there are of course some players that have had problems like any player.
