Can you try on another PC, just to be sure there isn't some compatibility issue with your PC?
If this doesn't help then the player definitely sounds faulty unfortunately, and you need to contact Creative Support, links for which are in the FAQ post.

  • 9iFS R2 on Windows 2000 repeated install failure - help !!

    Hi All,
here is a desperate plea for help with 9iFS R2 on Windows 2000, service pack 2, the story so far ....
    1) clean install of windows 2000 with service pack 2, network configured and working.
    2) install Oracle 9i R2 database and configure tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora as per the oracle by example documents for R2
    3) reboot machine and all service come up fine
    4) install Oracle 9i R2 Application Service with option A to just install web server and cache stuff. This is installed in its own oracle home, all seems fine, reboot the machine.
    5) all the services come up fine ( so far so good eh !! )
    6) follow the pre-installation for 9iFS R2 ( as per the solaris install notes as i can't find any windows specific ones ). This includes the creation of a tnsnames.ora file in 9iashome\9ifs\network\admin, checking of the configuration required for 9iFS, all seems fine. Reboot the machine and all services come up fine.
    7) start the 9iFS install, this is installed into the 9ias home as per the instruction. Install proceeds, enter config information, various connection tests are performed ok, and then we get to the 'configuring oracle 9iFS' screen which has a whole load of tasks which the installer then works its way through. When it gets to the 'executing setup scripts' option ( second from bottom ) it immediately throws a java exception, about 'file access denied', 'unable to create ifs directory' with no error code or anything else. The configuration screen then exits, and says installation complete successfully ! As you can imagine it hasnt, and nothing is configured. I have repeated this 4 full times now, reading the oracle install docs very carefully. Same thing every time. However, and this is the strange part. If at that point, I uninsall 9iFS using the oracle installer, and then try and reinstall 9iFS again, when it gets to the section of where to create the schema, and i tell it the same IFSSYS as the one created previously, it will then warn me its going to delete it and create a new one with the same name. I select 'yes' create it again and this time the install completes with no errors ! Hurray you think, ahhhh BUT....
    8) reboot the machine, start up the browser to point at the local machine port 1810, and log in successfully. Then select the node on port 15x41 ( sorry cant quite remember port number ) as per the post installation docs, and told to 'launch it'. This i do, providing the administration account user name and password which has been used to install everything so far. Explorer sits for about 60 seconds then returns to the screen with the portal node still down. I have tried starting the node and domain to no avail, both fail to start with no reason for the failure and nothing in the 9iFS\logs to explain whats failing - sigh.
    OK the questions
    1) why do i initially get this file access denied problem so failing the install - is this a known windows problem ?
    2) When i do get the install to complete by reinstall 9iFS and rebuilding the schema can I not then start the node or domain ?
In effect I am installing all these on a single machine with 1 Gig of memory for evaluation and prototyping as a possible Document Management System which we can build custom solutions upon. With being unable to install it at all we are at a total loss. Can some one save my sanity and remaining hair and offer some help/suggestions as to why this is not working ?
    best regards
    Tom

    Thomas,
thanks for your hints, it helped me quite well getting iFS installed on my machine! But when I try to start iFS from the administration GUI I do have excactly the same problem like you:
start up the browser to point at the local machine port 1810,
and log in successfully. Then select the node on port 15x41
as per the post installation docs, and told to 'launch it'.
This i do, providing the administration account user name and
password which has been used to install everything so far.
Explorer sits for about 60 seconds then returns to the screen
with the portal node still down. I have tried starting the
node and domain to no avail, both fail to start with no reason
for the failure and nothing in the 9iFS\logs to explain whats
failing - sigh.At first my thought was iAS might have problems with special characters in the admin's name or password (due to security guidelines we had to change the admin's name). But also with alphanumeric name and password it doesn't work.
Furthermore, also starting iFS using the BATch files doesn't work always. The services seem to start up correctly, but I'm not able to connect via share, FTP, HTTP or anything.
It got worse when I accidently called "ifsundeployear.bat": after that I no longer was able to redeploy the iFS's EAR, I only get error messages complaining inconsistency between local config files and the repository. Logfiles didn't help at all. So at the moment I'm reinstalling everything once more, sigh.
Did ANYONE get iFS started the way it's supposed to be under Windows 2000?

  • Experiencing strange performance issues after a hard drive failure - Help!

I bought my mid-2012 i5 Macbook Pro in December of 2012. I realized when shopping for computers that I wanted an SSD installed, but that it would be a lot cheaper if I bought the SSD and installed it rather than customizing it in the Apple Store. So I bought a nice Samsung 128GB SSD (820 or 840 - can't remember which) and did the installation. I went ahead and installed two 4GB sticks of RAM while I was at it. Everything was just dandy: my boot time was just under 9 seconds, and all of my data-heavy apps booted in no-time at all. Then all **** broke loose.
About two weeks ago, I opened my computer and I got the dreaded "? File Folder" notification with a gray screen. I immediately thought hard drive failure. No matter how many times I tried to boot, the computer just would not talk to the SSD anymore. I used Internet Recovery to get into my Disk Utility, and the entire partition was gone. I assumed the worst but wanted to be sure - I bought a hard drive enclosure and hooked the SSD up to an older Macbook, and lo and behold: it worked perfectly. I was not only able to recover data, but I could write data to the drive. Nothing appeared wrong with the drive when I plugged it into the old Macbook, but my newer Macbook still would not recognize it. Even my fiance's Windows 7 PC recognized the drive as "?" (since it was formatted for Mac, but hey - it recognized that it existed!).
I decided to re-install the original HDD that came with the 2012 Macbook Pro (the one I removed in favor of the SSD). I was able to re-install the OS and I can boot up at will, but everything is different. The performance issues are extremely noticeable. I can't have more than two programs running at one time without the spinning wheel of death appearing. My boot time went from 9 seconds to 2 minutes. I know that SSDs increase performance, so there is some slight performance downgrade to be expected since I am using a mechanical drive now -- but these are not normal issues. Sometimes I can't even type a web address into Safari without the wheel appearing. iTunes, and specifically the App Store, take minutes to open - and I have no media is on iTunes.
Here's the thing: I have tried just about anything to fix this problem that Google can pull up. I've verified the HDD, I've booted into Safe Mode, reset RAM and cache, run benchmarks and other performance tests, entered all sorts of weird language into Command Prompt, and studied Activity Monitor - I can't find a single red flag that would indicate anything being wrong. It appears to be a perfectly functioning, updated computer.
I'm thinking a piece of hardware failed that triggered the error with the SSD. I'm not really sure though since all of my performance tests indicate perfectly functioning hardware. I'm a little afraid to take it to the Apple store because I know they'll tell me it's my fault for opening the computer and replacing the hard drive in the first place.
Any ideas? At this point anything to salvage this computer would be helpful.

    Spin Cycle,
were those other computers which were able to recognize your SSD in its external enclosure also Macs? Do you know if your SSD has its most recent firmware revision installed? (If it doesn’t, its installer can be downloaded from the Samsung SSD firmware page for burning onto a bootable DVD.) I haven’t used the 830 myself, so I don’t know what its reputation is with Macs. I have an 840 PRO in my MacBook Pro, which has been trouble-free for me, but my understanding is that the 840 EVO has had trouble with Macs in its earlier firmware revisions — so I’m wondering if the 830 has a known track record with Macs, good or bad.

  • Mac mini boot failure - help

mine is a 1.5g core solo mini with 512 mb ram, last night i had a power failure after which the mini wouldn't boot, i hear the start up chime, it goes to the grey screen and stays there for a while and retarts again.... and its a non stop loop, safe boot wouldn't work, so does the reset of pvram, disk repair through tiger dvd, single user mode.... nothing happens, help me out

When you boot from the Tiger disc and repair the hard drive using DiskUtility, does DiskUtility report success, or does it finish with an error message?

    Hello shano:
I did not make that post to engage in a discussion with you. I have no way of knowing that whatever you did fixed your issue. If you had followed my original suggestion, you would have gotten to the same place. I posted my comments so others that might read this post would not suddenly start deleting cookie files without trying less intrusive approaches first.
By the way, clearing the cache is a standard troubleshooting step in solving crash problems (you failed to point out you did that as well).

  • Import File Failure, Help!

Hello, I am new to Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and thought i would start by working my way through the Adobe "Classroom In a Book" CS4.  I made a start through the early chapters then almost instantly hit a problem.  What ever I tried to import e.g. Panasonic P2, Still images below 4000x4000, .avi.  Basically all the material that was supplied on the Dvd that come with the book, I get the message "Import File Failure" "File Video Dimentions (Width/Height) Too Large".
I've tried restarting the computer but no luck, really gutted as I need to learn this program before next semester
I've also made sure my sequence sizes are the same size as my assets
I am running the Adobe Suite on a MacBook Pro 2.53GHz with Snow Leopard (10.6.4)
    Hope anyone can help
    Cheers

Try reading through the results of MY SEARCH to see if anything applies.  You may just need to uninstall CS4 and then reinstall it.

  • Authorization Failure HELP!

Had my blackberry a few weeks now was working fine for 2 weeks and then one day it refused to ring or text. Comes up saying authorization failure and will not send text messages. Its pulling my brain out. Any way I can get it working again PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

Welcome to the forums.  Need a little more information to help - what device do you have, and what carrier are you using.
Are you able to click on the Options icon, then SMS Text?  If so, what is in the fields on that screen?
Oh, have you also tried doing a battery pull (remove battery while device on, then put back in and let it boot up).
Can you receive a text message and make outgoing calls?
If you find a post here helpful, please consider giving the poster some Kudos

  • PcP/Xgrid Failure Help

    HELP!!!!
We have workflows for Podcast Producer that work 99.9% of the time.
Then there's days like today that drive me crazy.
When our workflows fail, they always fail with the following error info...
    curl: (55) SSL read: error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0), errno 54
    pcastaction[37186] <Critical>: PodcastProducer::Actions::ITunesU: FAIL: Failed to execute "/usr/bin/curl" (status = 55)
Is this bandwidth timeout? Any thoughts?
    Help,
    James McNab
    Multimedia Producer, Drake University

    Thanks Marcel,
Our PcP setup is a single Xserve running 10.6.4. There's only one agent (the lone xserve) jobs. The system is bound to our campus AD for user authentication. An AD account specially created for the task is the user running the Xgrid jobs. We've been successful in running both OD and AD on the server and having users from both domains authenticate into Podcast Capture.
Regardless of method, platform, file size, etc., workflows will fail on the same step... the upload to iTunes U... from time to time in no set pattern. For example, yesterday we ran a whopping grand total of four jobs and all four failed on the upload to iTunes U. Today we're running upwards of 60 and not one has failed... yet.
All workflows push to iTunes U using Apple's storage. No files are stored in the library. We've been given a dedicated 3MB/s pipe for outbound uploads, with a flexible overhead of up to 50MB/s depending on campus usage. We've never gotten close to maxing that out.
Attached is the important parts of the Diagnostics Logs from a job failure:
warning: peer certificate won't be verified in this SSL session

  • HELP - DB2 v9 & App Server PE 9.0 - PING Connection Pool Failure - HELP

I've been playing around with Studio Creator and DB2 v9 without any issues.
So I figured I would installed App Server PE 9 and use this as my production server that I would deploy to from studio creator.
However, in my efforts to set up db2/v9 I have been trying to ping a connection pool without any luck. I get the following message:
Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean. Target exception message: Connection could not be allocated because: [sunm][DB2 JDBC Driver]Resource Limits Reached( ALLOCATE MEMORY FOR NEW SQLSTT FAILED ). Diagnostic Info: FUNCTION ID = 0049 , PROBE POINT = 0400 , TRACE POINT = 0030 , SUBCODE1 = 8B0F0000, SUBCODE2 = 78A68A98, SUBCODE3 = 00000000, ERROR MSG = Parser: Memory allocation error.
My datasource class name is com.sun.sql.jdbcx.db2.DB2DataSource.
And my resource type is javax.sql.datasource
    I have copied smbase.jar, smdb2.jar and smutil.jar into c:\sun\appserver\lib
and I have all of the properties (serverName, portNumber, databaseName, user, password) created and set accordingly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is how I got the DB2 Express-C and Sun PE 9.0 to work. ( at least base connectivity wise )
    1. ) You have to have at least the DB2 Client installed on the system that will be communicating to the DB2 instance.
2.) The following jars will be needed ( depending on the driver type used) . db2java.zip, db2jcc.jar, and db2jcc_license_cu.jar and use them in the App Server ->JVM settings -> Path Settings -> Classpath Suffix
3.) The next setup is dependent on the Type driver you use
I used the Type 4 and this is the resource setup I used.
    Connection Pool:
    Name: DB2TestPool
    Datasource Classname: com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2SimpleDataSource
    Resource Type: javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource
    Properties:
    user: xxxxxx
    password: xxxxxx
    databaseName: TEST
    serverName: <hostname of machine>
    portnumber: 50000
    driverType: 4
    URL: jdbc:db2://<hostname>:<port>/<database>
    JDBC Resource:
    JNDI Name: jdbc/TEST
    Pool Name: DB2TestPool
With this configuration I was able to ping the database as well as connect to create an entity bean from a table. This should give you a starting point.
I have yet to deploy my application, but should be doing that sometime today to verify that a connection can be made and used from within the application.

  • IMAC Fusion Hard Drive failure, help with data recovery

I've got a Late 2012 iMAC 27 Inches 3.4GHZ with a Fusion 3.1TB HDD. My machine has booting issue the past few weeks and when contacted through Apple Care UK, after a few over the phone diagnostics they wanted me to take the machine over to get the Hard Drive checked. I had transferred some of my vital data from another HDD a few days before that and did not have an up to date backup. When booked in they said the HDD will have to be replaced and they will migrate the data over. But when I collected the machine, they said they couldn't transfer data as 'it didn't mount' and therefore unable to transfer. I was gutted as I have 2 wedding on their which were WIP and had to be delivered to the client in a few days. I have got my old HDD from the apple store...but unable to read data..can you help? Guess as a final resort I'd have to obtain the expensive data recovery services.

    Ouch...
But before going for an expensive data recovery service, you have some other options.
At first you have to get that harddrive connected to your iMac. There are several solutions to that. One is to buy a SATA USB Docking Bay (see picture). You can put the harddisk in it and connect it via USB to your iMac.
Next you'll need recovery software. Disk Utility will probably not help you, but it is worth the try (because it is free and comes with OSX).
A great piece of software to look at is DiskWarrior. It once helped me accessing a dying External Harddisk and got most of the data off it before it really died. There are more applications, just google 'Data Recovery OSX', and you will find a lot more.
Oh, and make sure to start a good back-up plan for the future. Time Machine is great, or Carbon Copy Cloner, and maybe invest in a decent NAS to copy your data on.
    Good luck!

  • Drastic iMac failure Help Help!

I switched on my iMac G5 (w/iSight) today and after the grey screen and blue screen with spinning circle, the screen turned black and i have a Darwin command line asking for login and password
I then type in both and get multiple command line stating:
"date/time: iMacG5 netinfo local (32) cannot lookup child"
Is there a way to reboot with such failure?
I am very concerned i'll be able to get that stuff working again
    Any tips, i am in
    many thanks

    Excellent
    tenks for the prompt reply
I actually started a reinstall of the System. This is kind of radical but that might work
if not, i'll try the suggestions in your links
This iMac is on the way to maintenance anyway (i am sooo glad i got an Applecare plan, i already lost a HD and now my Airport card is out of order: feel kind of lucky). So I guess I have no reasons to wait any longer
    Cheers and muchas gracias

  • Mini failure help - beyond the flashing finder

I have one of the original 1.25 Mac Mini G4's with 1.25 RAM running 10.4.10, all other software UTD & permissions repaired.
Recently, perhaps following a thunderstorm (despite surge protector), upon returning from vacation, the flashing finder folder/question mark screen had appeared.
Did the power disconnect, depress the power button/reconnect power source recommendation, reset PRAM (via traditional option-apple-P-R & open firmware methods) without change.
Booting with 10.4 OS DVD not successful. Booting with option depressed & OS DVD in place, purple screen with arrows appeared, but no selections to choose from. DVD is audibly spinning & will not eject (via multiple methods).
I have been able to boot the mini only using an external HD with 10.4 installed.
    Any other suggestions/options from anyone?
    Thanks in advance!

Anyone willing to offer odds of successful recovery with internal HD >replacement?
Under normal circumstances I'd say pretty good, but under the circumstance where the system won't boot from the original install disk, I'd say it may be somewhat less since that tends to point to a controller failure - though a failed hard drive could also cause issues with the optical depending on how it had failed.
However, before writing off the chances, does the internal optical drive recognize any kind of disk? If you put in a music CD, does it 'see' it? Does iTunes open? If you insert a disk into the optical drive, does Disk Utility on the booted external drive see the optical drive and the volume on the inserted disk?
If yes to any of those, then the controller would seem to be OK, and an internal hard drive replacement may well be a good move. Indeed, with the cost of a replacement drive, if you're comfortable doing the work yourself, it's a sensible step to take anyway I'd think.
What makes this more problematic to determine is not knowing what caused the failure in the first place. You hint that there may have been a storm issue, which may suggest a surge or spike and which can cause significant chip damage - often beyond repair or retrieval, but that would often cause boot failure due to power on self test failure.

    I'm new to Java-ORACLE connectivity.
I have installed Oracle 8i v8.1.5 in my Windows 2K Adv. Server with JDK1.4.2.
But I could connect to Oracle from Java neither thru JDBC-ODBC nor JDBC thin drivers.
What are the files ( or classes ) needed for connectivity and where can I download them.
Do the Oracle8i 8.1.7 JDBC drivers have backward compatibility with Oracle8i 8.1.5 ?
Please help me in this regard with utmost information possible and sample code.
    Thanks in Advance.
