Mv replication between Oracle 10g standared edition one and enterpriseedit

i have one ee 10g and 30 se-1 mv sites ,i have to replicate more than 100 tables from aabout 30 sites which have standared edition one to master site(enterprise edition0 .
1. Is it possible if yes then how?
2. is it will be 2 way updatable changes on both side will be replicate

Does each of the 30 sites have 100 tables (totally 3000 tables) ?
Are the tables "the same" -- meaning that you need to aggregate the rows from all 30 sites ? Or are they distinct ?
You cannot merge rows from multiple sources into 1 MV.
SE supports Read Only MVs. If you have 1-to-1 definitions you could try Updateable MVs.
MultiMaster Replication is certainly note supported with SE.
(Since you are running SE, I guess Streams and Golden Gate {too expensive} are not options).

    Dear mithun,
    Please read the following online documentation;

    +2.3.2 Oracle Software Requirements+
+The following list describes Oracle software requirements for using Data Guard:+
+* Oracle Data Guard is available only as a feature of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition. It is not available with Oracle Database Standard Edition. This means the same release of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition must be installed on the primary database and all standby databases in a Data Guard configuration.+
    +Note:+
+It is possible to simulate a standby database environment with databases running Oracle Database Standard Edition. You can do this by manually transferring archived redo log files using an operating system copy utility or using custom scripts that periodically send archived redo log files from one database to the other. The consequence is that this configuration does not provide the ease-of-use, manageability, performance, and disaster-recovery capabilities available with Data Guard.+

    Thanks in advance

Just quickly viewing oracle's datasheet on the product, I don't see why you couldn't. I don't think it is supported to work with Oracle Mobile Server though. Also, the maximum CPUs supported are 2 on Standard One. Depending on how many mobile users you require, this could be a bottleneck.

    Sure.
Are you talking about replicating data in one direction? If so, in which direction (Oracle to non-Oracle or non-Oracle to Oracle)? Or are you talking about bidirectional replication?
Which database do you want to be the "master" (i.e. initiate the push or pull of data)?
What sort of lag is acceptable? Minutes? Hours? Days?

  • To create standby database using oracle 10g standared edition

my producation database is oracle 10G standard edition .Can i implement a oracle dataguard or standby database using standard edition licenses.if standby database is possiable in standard edition .what are the steps for creating a standby database using oracle 10g standard edition.

    General answer is http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/editions.htm#BABJICBB.
For Data Guard you cannot :
    - use instance parameters to automatically send archived redo logs
    - use instance parameters to resolve archived redo logs gaps
    - create a logical standby
    - use SQL statements to do switchover / failover
    - use Data Guard Broker.

  • Oracle 10g standard edition installation and problems with logon (help pls)

I installed 10g standard edition, however I got the following two messages during installation:
    1) The host IP address can not be determined
    2) Missing or Invalid password ...
Eventhough I unlocked all the passwords during install (tiger/scott, sys, system, etc) I can not logon now with none of them ("invalid username/password: logon denied"). I also get "ORA-12170: TNS: Connect Timeout Occured" when trying to lgoon with my email addr and password used for installation.
Please help, this is frustrating. Thx!
P.S> Do I need to input anything in the "Host String" box ?

    Chances are
    1) you are using WIndows of some sort;
    2) your machine does not have a static IP address (you are using DHCP);
    3) you have not installed the loopback adapter, as desrcibed in the installation document.
You may want to review the Oracle Database 10g (release whichever you are using) "Installation Guide" manual for your operating system again. I think you missed a step.

  • Oracle 10g SEO replication to Oracle 10g EE RAC

    Hi!!!
I have 200 nodes with Oracle 10g Standard Edition One and a DataCenter with 3 nodes Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition Real Application Clusters. My questions is, how to replicate data from each node to datacenter with the objective to centralize all data.
The database structure is the same in all nodes, and there is no conflict.
My real problem is Oracle Standard Edition One, it's not support advanced replication like Streams and Materialized Views, and i cant use other version of oracle because it´s huge money.
    Please any advice?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm more of an Oracle developer than a DBA, and I'm not sure this is feasible, but it sounds like you are in dire need of an idea, so here it is. Take the transaction logs from your 200 nodes, copy them to your central site (at whatever time interval you require), and peform a "restore" to the central server using those logs, even though they did not come from the central server.

  • Pro*Cobol for Oracle 10g Express Edition is available?

Hi to all, this is my first post here.
I evaluating Cobol to Oracle products and I have find one it´s more
We installed Oracle 10g Express Edition (Server and Client), to test compatibility of a Cobol product.
This product requires the "rtsora" component, from Pro*Cobol, but we didn´t find it in any place in the instalation packages.
The documentation show the precompilers to be at $ORACLE_HOME/precomp but there is only two folders (admin and lib) with "ottcfg" files. Nothing more
Searching this and anothers foruns, I became to think if the precompilers facilities, like Pro*Cobol, may be available to the 10g Express Edition for Linux, OR, if this is a feature available only to the Standart Editions (or Windows)?
The instalation and users manuals appears to don´t distinguish the 10g standart from the Express Edition. Also, the Express Edition doesn´t ask for any kind of "customization oprtions" as I read about in another topics.
    Edited:
1 - We are using this on Linux Ubuntu.
2 - The Windows 10g Express Edition appears to be more complete, but I need to run this on Express Edition.
    Thanks in advance!

  • "In-Memory Database Cache" option for Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition

    Hi,
In one of our applications, we are using TimesTen 5.1.24 and Oracle 9i
    databases (platform - Solaris 9i).
TimesTen holds application information which needs to be accessed quickly
and Oracle 9i is a master application database.
Now we are looking at an option of migrating from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g
database. While exploring about Oracle 10g features, came to know about
"In-Memory Database Cache" option for Oracle Enterprise Edition. This made
me to think about using Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition with "In-Memory
Database Cache" option for our application.
Following are the advantages that I could visualize by adopting the
    above-mentioned approach:
    1. Data reconciliation between Oracle and TimesTen is not required (i.e.
data can be maintained only in Oracle tables and for caching "In-Memory
    Database Cache" can be used)
    2. Data maintenance is easy and gives one view access to data
I have following queries regarding the above-mentioned solution:
    1. What is the difference between "TimesTen In-Memory Database" and
"In-Memory Database Cache" in terms of features and licensing model?
    2. Is "In-Memory Database Cache" option integrated with Oracle 10g
installable or a separate installable (i.e. TimesTen installable with only
    cache feature)?
    3. Is "In-Memory Database Cache" option same as that of "TimesTen Cache
Connect to Oracle" option in TimesTen In-Memory Database?
    4. After integrating "In-Memory Database Cache" option with Oracle 10g, data
access will happen only through Oracle sqlplus or OCI calls. Am I right here
    in making this statement?
    5. Is it possible to cache the result set of a join query in "In-Memory
    Database Cache"?
In "Options and Packs" chapter in Oracle documentation
    (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/options.htm
#CIHJJBGA), I encountered the following statement:
"For the purposes of licensing Oracle In-Memory Database Cache, only the
processors on which the TimesTen In-Memory Database component of the
In-Memory Database Cache software is installed and/or running are counted
for the purpose of determining the number of licenses required."
We have servers with the following configuration. Is there a way to get the
count of processors on which the Cache software could be installed and/or
    running? Please assist.
Production box with 12 core 2 duo processors (24 cores)
Pre-production box with 8 core 2 duo processors (16 cores)
Development and test box with 2 single chip processors
Development and test box with 4 single chip processors
Development and test box with 6 single chip processors
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
    regarding your questions:
    1. What is the difference between "TimesTen In-Memory Database" and
"In-Memory Database Cache" in terms of features and licensing model?
==> Product has just been renamed and integrated better with the Oracle database - Times-Ten == In-Memory-Cache-Database
    2. Is "In-Memory Database Cache" option integrated with Oracle 10g
installable or a separate installable (i.e. TimesTen installable with only
    cache feature)?
    ==> Seperate Installation
    3. Is "In-Memory Database Cache" option same as that of "TimesTen Cache
Connect to Oracle" option in TimesTen In-Memory Database?
    ==> Please have a look here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/timesten/quickstart/cc_qs_index.html
    This explains the differences.
    4. After integrating "In-Memory Database Cache" option with Oracle 10g, data
access will happen only through Oracle sqlplus or OCI calls. Am I right here
    in making this statement?
==> Please see above mentioned papers
    5. Is it possible to cache the result set of a join query in "In-Memory
    Database Cache"?

i want one more instance of database. Can you perhaps explain why? I have a fair share of production and development servers - and not a single one of them needs to run more than one database instance.
So I'm interested in what requirement you are trying to satisfy by using two database instances on a single platform.
Oh yeah - if you want to create a custom XE instance (different SID, different tablespace sizes, more/less PL/SQL stuff installed, hack standard), make a copy of your XE db creation script (in your XE's +$ORACLE_HOME/bin+ and called createdb.sh ) and modify that for your needs.
PS. even with a different SID, only a single XE instance can be run at a time - you can however have 2 different ones defined and then use one at a time (e.g. testing international settings, init param differences, etc.)
