MVP List #40 (June 2 - June 8, 2012)

The Verizon Community Forums Most Valuable Posting List is where we recognize great work and words happening every day right here on our community. We know the success as a community is based on the continual and lively contributions of our valued members. Each member provides special and unique contributions and this is the place we try to highlight members that have stood out during the previous week.
Thread of The Week:
One of the trickiest- and most interesting- things about posting a question on the boards is that your original question can very easily morph into another question altogether. This is what happened within this week's Thread of the Week. A simple question asking if you can swap out a modem/router combo for a modem only has led to some great discussions on how best to use your PS3.
Post of the Week:
Ever wonder what happens when disputed charges from third party billing are taken off your phone bill? Minded knows- and he shares with you here.

I am honored to be on the list, however I wish it wasn't for the reason it was.
Unmentioned in your post is the outpouring of support for the Funimation channel.  This channels cancellation, due to what is quickly turning out to be a less than factual reason of 'low viewership' from Verizon, has mobilized many of your customers.  In fact, I'm sure that most of the people in your list this week were kudo'ed for posts in 1 of 2 threads:
Funimation Canceled!
Save Funimation Petition
If we are to look at the pure numbers, at the time of this writing those 2 threads combined for a total of nearly 950 kudos and 3800+ views.  Even more telling:  198 of the 200 most kudo'ed posts are people SUPPORTING Funimation Channel and against Verizon's decision to cancel the channel.  (http://forums.verizon.com/t5/kudos/leaderboardpage/board-id/FiOS_TV_Entertainment/timerange/one_mont...
IMHO (and no offense to Justin and his very helpful document) either of these 2 would have made a much more appropriate 'Thread of the week'.

    Thread of The Week:
Do you have a Blu-Ray player? We do- I didn't want to get one (I thought it would be a waste of money), but we use it all the time for a lot more then just playing discs. One of the things we use ours for at least once a day is Netflix and I can't imagine how frustrated I'd be if my Blu-Ray signal was too weak to properly connect to my FiOS service. Thankfully thanks to this thread if I ran into that problem, I'd know what to do!
    Post of the Week:
Some times when you're dealing with all this technology, you sometimes forget that it's the little things- like the wires- that can trip you up. Here's a great thread that helps you figure out what kind of wire may be connected to your modem. Thanks to Hubrisnxs and OldGuy69 for helping out!

Unfortunately, a user's IP is considered personal information.  If they post a copy/paste, we are able to edit it out. However, when it's in an image, we have to remove the entire thing.  But when we message the user, we ask them to obscure their IP and to re-post the image.
Good reason, makes sense. But couldn't you edit the image (with an image editor) and cover up the IP address? I do that kind of thing all the time with images I post here to protect my privacy (although as you know I occasionally do screw that up ). Would save the confusion and need for the user to repost the image.

  • What about my iWeb sites after June 30, 2012?

I have two web sites created in iWeb.  Where is the best place to go to get information about how to transfer these web sites to the Internet at large and get hosting so they do not disappear after June 30, 2012?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You need to choose a new web hosting service. Once you have done so get the information that you need such as the FTP address, your username, password and file path and enter it into iWeb under the FTP option. You can then republish your websites to your new hosting service.
You may need to check some of the features on your website, to ensure they work with your new hosting service. Such things as page counters and gallery slideshows don't.
