MX 2004 Fonts

I have macromedia mx 2004 and when I installed in on a new
computer (xp pro) I cannot read the fonts. Like in the panels or
the property panel I cannot read it. Like setting the size,
background color I can barely tell it says size etc. I was able to
fix it in dreamveaver under edit properties-fonts, but this does
not affect the other programs like flash, freehand & fireworks.
I keep thinking it is something in the windows display properties,
but no changes seem to make fonts readable within the other MX
programs. Does anyone have any ideas?.

When you add a font you have o first close Firefox and then
Open it again...
and thats how it refresh the new folders and they will appear
on firefox
if not, its an OS problem. :P

  • Word MS Office 2004 Font as squares

I have 2 users so far that when they use one specific machine in Word, all their font is just squares. If they switch to another machine in the lab their font is fine. I've tried changing to another font, but no good, still squares. It is machine specific and user specific. We are running G5 1.8GHz iMac 10.4.4 clients with Office 2004. I've tried throwing out their prefs but that one machine still has squares. All fonts are in /Library/Fonts, no fonts are in the MS Office folders. No fonts are in the users folders. Any ideas why this issue is machine and client specific? Any suggestions besides re-imaging?
    Thanks,
    Martha

I've had the same problem as well. It seems to be a font cache issue so you can try deleting the font caches for Office in ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office Font Cache (11)
If that doesn't work, you could use a cache cleaning util to dump all the font caches on the computer.
We mostly just re-clone since we have NetBoot/NetRestore all set up, it is easy and often as quick as troubleshooting.

  • Vncserver not working for me in latest solaris 10 on sparc

    Hello,
This is Solaris 10 running on <142909-17> sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440
When I(non root user) run vncserver, I get below message,

And this continues to be like that no matter how many times I run vncserver. (displauy number always remains :1 and it doesn't work using vncviewer.

  • Update Illustrator CS3

I tried several times to update Illustrator CS3 to CS3.1 but it cannot be applied to the product. What is going wrong?

    From the AI update page:
Illustrator 13.0.2, which is recommended for all Illustrator CS3 users, addresses issues related to importing native Freehand files into Illustrator. This includes fixes for retaining certain gradients on fills, some raster effects, as well as additional support for importing of text styles.
AI Japanese edition users have a 13.0.3 update:
Illustrator 13.0.3, which is recommended for all Illustrator CS3 Japanese users, addresses issues related to compatibility between Adobe-Japan1-6 JIS 2004 font and Composite Font, and unexpected leading shift in editing text. Before you can execute this updater, you need to update to Illustrator CS3 version 13.0.2 and have 500MB of free disk space.

  • Widget html look same in Dashcode & Safari?

    Hi
Just getting into Dashcode dev and thought that the widget's main.html would render as it does in Dashcode. i.e. that the html and js would all be interpreted the same, but this appears not to be the case.
A countdown widget in Safari 4 (Beta) appears without the h:m:s and the "Buy me" button i added is located way below the clock.
Can anyone please help me understand why this is the case? Is Safari not able to understand the Apple js libraries linked?
    Cheers

Thanks in advance for your help Tom. Here is the url:

Currently I am at work (in Tokyo) so I cannot access my PB and send you the page image.
    To answer your questions:
    1. Yes - I explicitly set the browser default font to UTF-8
    2. I also try view-> Character Encoding -> UTF-8/User Defined, etc.
    3. I do have Lucida Grande
    4. I do not have any other non-Mac and MS Office 2004 fonts
    5. Other websites look alright to me (except the BBC Vietnamese website) eg. http://www.nhandan.com.vn/
    6. All test user accounts are fine with the BBC Vietnamese site except the one that has issue.

  • Font compatibility between Office 2003 (PC) and Office 2004 (Mac)

On my PC at work I created a Powerpoint presentation that uses two proprietary fonts, Imago and Minion. I found the .ttf files for them on the PC (Imagm__e.ttf, Imagmi_e.ttf, Imagw__e.ttf, Imagwi_e.ttf, Minii__e.ttf, Minir__e.ttf, Minisb_e.ttf, Minisbie.ttf) and imported them with FontBook into my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.5.8). When I open the presentation in Powerpoint 2004 on the Mac the original font information appears in the style picker when I highlight some text, but Powerpoint has evidently substituted another font for it on the screen, because some text wraps that should not. Furthermore, it is not possible to choose font style Imago or Minion, as originally on the PC, only some variants thereof, e.g., Minion Semi-Bold. So, apparently, Powerpoint fails to recognize these individual files as two font families. When I use a Mac application like TextEdit, I can work with Imago and Minion as I would expect: simply choose the style, then apply bold, italics, etc.
Has anybody experienced this problem, and does anybody have a solution?

You may want to post in Microsoft's own forums for the Mac version of PowerPoint:

  • Reinstalling fonts in microsoft office 2004

    Hi there -
    I recently bought an iBook G4, OS X 10.4.3. I installed Microsoft Office 2004 (which I had on my iMac G3, OS X 10.3.9)
Following the installation, the first time I opened the Office applications, an error message appeared stating that several fonts were corrupt and should be deleted (this had not happened on the iMac.)
I deleted these fonts in Applications/Office/Fonts.
Since then have been able to use Office 2004 without issue, albeit it without the said fonts. As the fonts were only deleted from Office fonts, they are available in other Applications such as Mail.
I would like to reinstall these fonts in Office. Is that possible? If so, how?
Apologies if there have been similar posts, but my search of topics did not turn up specific enough answers...
    Thanks for your help, caroline

I've had a similar problem -- dozens of fonts that I had installed in my font library (luckily I had isolated them in their own folders) were recognized as "corrupt" by my Microsoft Office 2004 software. I pulled them from my font library and dragged them onto my desktop, then restarted. That solves the problem for my Office apps, but I need these fonts when I work in my Adobe CS2 files. Right now, to access those fonts, I have to close my Office apps, drag the fonts back into my font library, then restart my computer. To use Office, I have to reverse the procedure. Any suggestions on how to keep the fonts in my main font library, but make them inaccessible to Office?

  • Vietnamese fonts in Office 2004

    Hi-
I'm a reseller with a customer who has thus far been unable to use Vietnamese fonts in Office 2004 - although he can in Office 2003 (for Windows). Is there any genius out there who has a fix for this?

I'm a reseller with a customer who has thus far been
unable to use Vietnamese fonts in Office 2004 -
If the customer is talking about input, do they understand that you need to activate and select the Vietnamese keyboard layout? You do this by going to system prefs/international/input menu, check the box for Vietnamese (plus the box for "show input menu in Finder"), then select Vietnamese in the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder, and type. The fonts are already installed and selected automatically.
If the customer wants to install and use other non-Unicode fonts for input, I don't know if it's possible. Probably best to ask in the Word forum and give the names of the fonts:
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/community/community.aspx?pid=newsgroups
If the customer is talking about being unable to read Vietnamese documents produced on some other platform, then there could be encoding issues that would need fixing either via finding a font with the right encoding or changing the encoding via another app like TextEdit. In this case I could probably figure out a solution if I had copy of the doc.

  • Font Scrambling in PDF Conversions from Word 2004

Our Imago fonts periodically get scrambled into garbage when using the Adobe 7.0 Pro Distiller to convert documents. We purchased the Imago fonts specifically for use in our business and have used this for a number of years and the problem continues to happen. It appears that it is imbedded properly in the preferences menu. Has anyone had this happen or does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello, hereby a snapshot of the Word doc & the result as pdf as shown in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. (In Acrobat reader it shows ok) . Depending on how I convert to pdf I get different results. Sometimes a completely coloured page, a blank page or with only the coloured line showing.
I don't know how to post a link (don't have a web address ..) but if you give me a mail-address I could send the Word document to you.

  • Microsoft Word 2004 + corrupt fonts message

Can I ask - when I open MSW it says there is a bunch of corrupt fonts - starting round "O" e.g. Optima - then there seems to be loads of them
I checked them in Font Book>File>validate fonts and everything seesm OK so is it MSW or do I actually have dodgy fonts?
If so - How can I reinstall the standard font set?
    thanks

    Hi Simon,
There's a few things you can do. Download and run Mark Douma's Font Finagler to clear the font cache files on the system.
Also, remove the following MS specific font cache files. The tilde (~) indicates your home folder.
    ~/Library/Caches/.com.microsoft.browserfont.cache
    ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office Font Cache (11)
Lastly, to reinstall all of the fonts that came with OS X, follow the instructions at the bottom of my article Font management in Mac OS X Tiger and Panther. By using Pacifist, you can restore all of the fonts without resorting to a reinstall of the entire OS.

  • Syriac (aramaic) fonts in Mail, Safari, MS Office 2004 Mac OS X 10.4

in the Internet I found the Melthofonts (syriac fonts)
but no keyboard layout (syriac) for 10.4
and if there were a keyboard layout do the above mentioned applicatio support these fonts?
I have learned that Apple has a special (again somerthing special!!) implemantation of the Open Type fonts (not the Microsoft / Adobe Type), so the Melthofonts doesn't work in 10.4
Aramaic OT fonts of the Apple specifications I haven't found in the internet.
      Mac OS X (10.4.4)

i know this site. this keyboard layout works only up
    to Mac OS X 10.3.9!
Try again. It works fine for me in 10.4.4 (and there is no reason why it should not -- nothing in 10.4 has changed the way such keyboards function).
    ܐܣܕܔܓܗܛܟܠܚܞ
In any case, it would be simple to make another one with Ukelele:
    http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?siteid=nrsi&itemid=ukelele
beside that, the fonts have to work in Mail, Safari
You are just out of luck until someone creates an AAT font for this script (or until Apple expands its OpenType support to include such scripts, which I think is probably a long way off). ̄Of course the underlying code is fine when created in Mail and should display correctly at the other end on a Windows machine with the correct OpenType support or perhaps even on a Mac if copy/pasted into Mellel.

  • Web Application Designer in 2004s has blurry fonts

    Hi
We are on SP12.  When changing the fonts to bold in the charts, the fonts are blurry.
Anyone had this problem and solved it?
    Thanks
    Kristen

    Hi Kristen,
blurry means you have activated the anti-aliasing effect of the texts. This effect is also described in note 1002118. To deactivate it just set the Transparency Color in the global settings of the chart (WAD - Edit Chart Item - Refine - Global Settings) to an RGB value (i.e. not None).
Please also make sure to use IGS 7.00 patch 10 when changing this setting (see note 1071032).
    Regards, Kai

  • How do I use the fonts in my font book in Word?

I have created several documents and used fonts that I like, such as Sand, Verdana, and Textile. I imported them into my font book, but they are not available in my Word or Excel documents. Anyone have any ideas on how I can use them?

    Nancy,
I'm afraid I don't know the answer, if no one on this forum answers I'd also recommend posting on the Office for Mac Product Forums. BTW when posting it's helpful to post what version of MS Word you're referring to. Snow Leopard will run Word 2004, 2008 & 2011 so you need to be a bit more specific.

  • Font Management Problems - PLEASE HELP

    Hey,
We are have six networked computers who are doing ads/layout/pagination for a newspaper. All six computers are new iMacs, all running InDesign CS3. We have a standard set of fonts that I saved on our server. On each iMac, I created a folder on the hard drive called Messenger Fonts. Then I went into FontBook and created a new library called Messenger where I added the fonts. So I thought by doing each the same way, we would not have any font problems but we do –- LOTS of them. Mostly fonts such as Gill Sans, Helvetica, Times, etc. where there is a system version of the font plus a postscript version from our font collection. I have also downloaded Suitcase Fusion (trial) on a couple of computers but I still can't get all of our fonts in sync.
Could someone please help me with a FOOL-PROOF, rock-solid, step-by-step way to set up a small office where there will be NO font conflicts, missing fonts, etc., i.e. "start by deleting these fonts from these particular folders, then blah, blah, blah"
    HELP!!!!!!!
    Neil

That's a nice short list of fonts that will cover pretty much all minimal needs. The only place you'll see problems is mostly on the web. Many, many sites use standard Microsoft fonts such as Verdana, Trebuchet MS, WingDings and Comic Sans. They'll still display of course, but the page layouts may get thrown way out of whack from the absence of the fonts they're looking for.
I guess as long as no one installs an application, such as Office, that installs it own fonts, we should stay consistent, right?
You should. But even if they do install Office, you can delete every font it puts on the system. Office used to require at least Verdana and Trebuchet MS, but Office 2004 will run without them.
We have a manageable list so I just avoided using FontBook or Suitcase.
My thought there is that a good font manager is still a very good thing to have. You can just put the fonts you want to use in either the /Library/Fonts/ folder, or the Fonts folder in the currently active user account to activate, and remove to deactivate; but you run a bit of risk damaging the fonts by constantly moving or copying them all over the place. With Suitcase or MasterJuggler, you can activate/deactivate them from wherever they reside. Not that manually moving fonts in and out of a Fonts folder doesn't work, it's just much easier to use a font manager.
