MX 452 on wifi

I have a MX 452 printer on my wireless network. My computer is A MacBook Pro running OS 10.9.3. The computer and the printer are on all the time. To print I have to shut the printer down and restart or it says it can't find the printer. What's up?

Hi bradysmith,
Routers have a feature that will disconnect devices that have not been in use for a period of time.  If you do not use your printer, the router will stop sending wireless signals to it and will become disconnected from the network.  Please refer to your routers manual to adjust this time out period or disable it.
Please make sure that there is a strong signal between your printer and the wireless access point.  To do this, please follow these steps:
 1.  Click Start and select All programs (or Programs).
 2.  Click on Canon IJ Network Utilities, Canon IJ Network Tool, and then Canon IJ Network Tool.
 3.  Select the printer in Printers.
 4.  Select Status from the View menu.
The Signal Strength indicates the strength of the signal received by the printer, ranging from 0% to 100%.
the Link Quality indicates the signal quality excluding the noise while communicating, ranging from 0% to 100%.
Both of these values should be as close to 100% as possible.
Make sure that there is no barrier or obstacle between the access point and the machine. Wireless communication between different rooms or floors is generally poor. The metal, concrete, or timber including the metallic material, mud wall, or insulator may interrupt a wireless communication. If the machine cannot communicate with the computer over a Wireless LAN for the wall material, place the machine and the computer in the same room or floor.
Since a device such as a microwave oven uses the same frequency bandwidth, it may cause interference. Place the wireless devices as far away from the source of interference as possible.
Also, please log into your router and change the channel in your Wireless Settings.  Please try changing the channel to 11 or 6.  Changing the channel may eliminate any interference.
Interference can come from Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, microwave ovens and other nearby wireless networks if they are on overlapping channels.  Please refer to your routers' documentation for assistance in changing the wireless channel.

  • [SOLVED] Intel 7260 Vaio can't connect to wifi

    Hi there,
First off, I should mention that I know my way around Linux but I'm pretty new to Arch, so there might be things that I know that don't apply here.
So, I have this problem with this network, I can't connect to it and frankly I don't know why. I was on Ubuntu until a few days ago and I still had the problem. I posted on the Ubuntu forum >>here<< and I was told to upgrade, but as I've been willing to move to Arch for quite some time, I thought that was maybe the time. BUT, the problem is still there, which worries me.
To sum it up, about one or two weeks ago, I was connecting fine to this network (ZyXEL) and then after a reboot, no way to connect to it, no matter what I try. I have noticed an error message that keeps coming back all the time (see below) and the wifi indicator in i3status sometimes flashes me with an IP while I'm trying to connect then eventually the network disappears (not with wicd, only nm). Those are basically the symptoms.

I have had troubles with the wifi in the past (from what I read on the internet, this card is not yet fully supported everywhere) but nothing like this. Usually, disconnecting and reconnecting did the trick, sometimes I had to restart NetworkManager in extreme cases, but nothing more.
I tried a lot of things (modprobe, rfkill, firmware update, etc), rebooted everything I could but couldn't do anything. I have found bug reports and forums posts of similar problems but the solutions there either didn't work for me or the problem just seem to have disappeared for some people. I read that this card was not really supported before the kernel 3.11 or 3.13 but now I have 3.16 and it's still there. What's really bugging me is that I could successfully connect to this network a couple weeks ago...
On the Ubuntu forum, they have a script that displays useful information when posting about wireless problems. I have taken off the Ubuntu specific bits and I think this will save you some time asking me to run commands. One thing is not mentioned in the script: I use wicd.

I have the exact same problem, appeared completely random. I had several restarts this Christmas on the laptop, even after upgrades. I blamed the ath driver. But I noticed when I restart the router by plugging out it from the wall, then in again, sometimes it's working.
I carefully changed every possible settings in the router, then I found if I disable IPv6 (yes, it's capable of that despite Sky does not provide IPv6 service) it started to work even after multiple reboots. It took mi a while since the new year.
I'm using connman and when it was wrong, connman was completely frozen. If I entered "connmanctl scan wifi", it never quit. Same for "connmanctl state".
I also noticed that the router LED was blinking continuously and on the laptop when I checked the connection status with ifconfig it showed very high usage of TX packets. It also blocked the whole wifi, so my phone was not able to access the internet. Strange problem, I'm unsure what caused it and not quite sure how disabling IPv6 solved it. But I'm also afraid that maybe somewhere else I can't disable IPv6 on the router.

  • Dell N5040 Wifi works randomly.

Hello everyone. I installed Arch recently and everything works fine except for the wifi. I can use wifi-menu to connect to my network, but the connection will only work randomly.
I have to connect multiple times to get it to work. The connection is not dropped and iwconfig reports a signal strength above 80%, but if I try to ping google.com, it simply hangs there without any output. Sometimes, the connection will work for the first few seconds and then stop, without disconnecting. Also, I am not able to load any webpage when it does that. The browser just keeps saying "Connecting to ...". I have already tried to put ipv6.disable=1 in my kernel line with no results. Here is my iwconfig output:
    [cgroza@CArch ~]$ iwconfig
    enp19s0 no wireless extensions.

I am posting from Arch, because this is one of the random times when wifi actually works.
    This is my wifi card:
12:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller (rev 01)
I am using the default driver included in the kernel.
    Thank you for your assistance.

I tried doing this. I followed the instruction on the wiki. The module was loaded and my networks were detected but wifi-menu could not connect. No error whatsoever.  iwconfig confirms this. So I had to undo the changes to get the random functionality back.
Thank you for your time anyway.

Ive turned QoS off on my router in hopes my laptop would do that same, however didn't fix anything :I(
Just a heads up the icon says I am still connected to the network however the internet doesn't work, neither does accessing my 192.168.1.1
Also this seems to be a problem with gnome-shell, as I just switched my laptop over from i3 tiling and never encounter any problems with the wifi

  • Help with WiFi setup.

I'm trying to set up my wifi and my sound. I searched the arch wiki and arch linux forums for the past few days and couldn't find a solution.
    When I input #dhcpcd wlan0 I receive
    wlan0: waiting for carrier
    timed out
My output for $lspci | grep -i net
02:00,0 Network Controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. device 8723
03:00,2 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 0a)
I had to install the drivers manually with an ethernet connection from http://askubuntu.com/questions/139632/wireless-card-realtek-rtl8723ae-bt-is-not-recognized.  I followed their instructions and managed to install the drivers.
    #netcfg  Brandon
    Brandon [BUSY]
    WPA Authentication/Association Failed [FAIL]
even though I have an open network.
When I tried the Arch Wiki manual wireless setup, the timed out message appeared. I tried Mode: Managed and Mode: Ad-Hoc, but was unable to change the Mode into auto with "#iwconfig wlan0 channel auto" for some reason.
    #iwconfig
    eth0 no wireless extensions
    lo no wireless extenstions
    wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID off/any Mode: Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Powe=20 dBm
Retry long limit:7 RTS thr=2347 B Fragment thr: off
    Encryption key: off
    Power Management: off
I can associated the wlan0 with #iwconfig wlan0 essid Brandon but it still gives the timed out message when waiting for carrier.

That is a successful association !
I still received a timed out message when attempting dhcpcd wlan0.
With the iwconfig output above ?   It should not do that.
What happens (when you are associated) with dhcpcd -B -d wlan0   ??  edit As root

  • Cannot send email from pop account when in 3G, will send in WIFI

I cannot send email from pop account when in 3G, will send in WIFI.
I thought it was the SMTP server first.. but when i config my WIFI, suddenly the emails that i tried to send, left my outbox and sent.
    Any idea's

The SMTP server you are using with Wi-Fi would be the outgoing server of your internet service provider... this is likely why that's working.
SMTP servers specific to a ISP would not work on the 3G network. You would probably need another SMTP server. One from your cell provider?

    Hi Peter,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that you are trying to use the new HP AiO Remote app for Windows phones to print to your Photosmart 7150 printer.
The Photosmart 7150 printer only supports USB connectivity, I have include the Photosmart 7150 Printer Specifications for reference.  To be able to use the HP AiO Remote app the printer needs to be connected to a wireless network.
If you accidentally typed the incorrect printer model, please let me know which make/model/product number of HP printer that you have. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

  • Google Play on Tablet works on WIFI not Verizon network.

I have an Motorola Ellipsis Tablet. I am unable to use Google Player. When I open the app, I get "Background data disable. Google play store needs background data to be enabled." I hit enable and It asks me to choose either Facebook or Gmail. I choose my email account and it tries to sync and I get the message "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Everything works fine when I am on WIFI at home but when I get to work and I'm on the Verizon network it won't work. I can't use Pandora or look at video. Can someone help me figure out why it is not working on the Verizon network? Thanks.

        Hi Mollie88,
Oh my! Let's get you back to enjoying your device. Some applications depend upon background data (transferring data when not directly in use). Restricting background data may cause those apps to stop functioning unless a Wi-Fi connection is available. To uncheck Restrict background data in the Google Play application,  follow the directions in the link  http://vz.to/1f5KM7b .

  • Loss of sending email using WIFI

As of this morning 8-20-08, after updating to 2.02, I no longer am able to send emails using my own wireless network. Previously this was no problem. Neither Fido or Apple have any idea of what I am talking about. Fido washed their hands as they do not support WIFI. How convenient, they sell the phone and charge for the service but do not support it. Videotron, my ISP, thinks the issue is my wireless router but I can send via gmail so that's out. I resovled the problem by configuring my accounts to use my gmail smtp server as a second option and now the spinning wheel is short lived and messages are sent.
I'm sorry to say that I had fallen for all the hype about Apple but truth is they are but a Microsoft wannabe.
    Disinchanted

    So here's the wierd thing.
I was having the same problems. Set up SMTP for Videotron when at home using relais.videotron.ca SMTP with no authenticationon port 25 & all was good in the world. However when I went out, bang. Nothing. Couldn't send a mail for love nor money.
Thought aboutit & changed settings to use relais.videotron.ca SMTP, but this time using authentication of vltl** / password credentials with no SSL (Videotron doesn't use SSL) and again everything was fine. Of course, when I got home again, bang. Everything fell over & no more mail sending foe me!
So I figure, when I'm at home I'm on my trusted network at port 25, I don't need authentication and all is good, but when I'm out i'm seen as potential SPAM by port 25 on videotron & get blocked.
Tried using port 587 instead when for both home & mobile but had no luck either.
Then a strange thing happened. I'd resolved to having to set up 2 SMTP servers on my iPhone & switching between the two based on where I was. Pain in the a**, but there's always a trade off for early adopter technology So I set up my primary SMTP to use port 25 with no authentication, and a secondary server to use the same relais.videotron.ca outgoing server, but this time WITH authentication using vltl** \ password credentials.
After a walk to the shop when I'd been on my secondary SMTP server (successfully sending & recieving) I came home & inadvertantly forgot to swith back to my primary SMTP. Recieved a mail & then responded with no problem!
Net result, I now have a permanently switced off primary server & a permanently switched on secondary server which uses relais.videotron.ca details with vltl** \ password authentication credentials active (like I did on my old silver iPhone) & all is good in the world, both at home & out mobile, both for sending & recieving!
Will field test some more tomorrow but it may be a 2.0.2 bug where ther primary server details fcuk up whereas the secondary server details are stable.
So long as it works, who cares!
    Jof

  • No wifi on 4s

My daughter's iPhone 4S rec'd as Christmas present last year and updated to iOS 7.04 has no wifi access, Bluetooth does not start (spinning wheel), and wifi address listed as N/A. Have tried resetting network settings, airplane mode is off, restarted phone. All to no avail. What are my options if any?

When a major update occurs like going from iOS 5 the iOS 6 or iOS 6 to 7 it can bring out an underlying hardware issue.
Using the link below will allow you to see if her device is still covered by it's limited warranty or AppleCare.
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
If it is still covered by Apple and there is a hardward issue, great! Service can be set up right away.
If repair service is needed and it's not covered by Apple check to see if you purchased third party insurance/protection plan.
An out of warranty repair for an iPhone 4S in the US is $199 plus tax. It can be set up at an Apple Store (apple.com/retail), by speaking with an AppleCare advisor over the phone (http://support.apple.com/kb/he57), or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider (locate.apple.com)
    Cheers!
